There is a hygienic problem in that some customers deal with a lot of goods before deciding on one. Bread shelves for self-service shops therefore have transparent boxes or plates under which the unpacked baked goods lie and which serve as so-called spit protection. For example, customers use pliers to reach through a small opening and take out the goods they want. However, this process is cumbersome and the sales success from such shelves is therefore limited. Such shelves are also time-consuming to refill for the sales staff. After all, spit protection may protect the goods underneath to a certain extent from contamination; however, it does not protect against the spread of germs that get onto the spit protection and are carried on when it is touched.

Such measures are unusual for fruit and vegetable shelves. The customer is expected to wash the purchased fruit or vegetables sufficiently before consuming them. However, this is not always guaranteed in practice. A germ transfer can also take place when the goods are picked up before washing.

The object of the invention is therefore to create a piece of sales furniture for the delivery of goods under improved hygienic conditions. This object is achieved with the invention specified in the claims. According to claim 1, the sales furniture according to the invention is provided with a radiation source for the emission of germicidal radiation on the goods lying on the shelf. As a result, germs such as bacteria, viruses or fungi, which could have come from a customer to the goods, are killed, if possible, before they can come into contact with another customer.

UV radiation is a useful germicidal radiation. A suitable radiation source is therefore a UV lamp which generally emits UV radiation which is approximately in the wavelength range from 100 to 400 nm. Within UV radiation, the germicidal effect of UV-A, UV-B and UV-C increases with a shorter wavelength. A UV-C lamp according to the claims is therefore particularly suitable 2nd and 3rd , which specifically emits UV-C radiation, which is approximately in the wavelength range from 100 to 280 nm. The wavelength range from about 200 to 280 nm is preferred, since air in this range is essentially transparent to the radiation. Germicidal radiation can be harmful to human eyes and skin. Measures to protect customers and operators from exposure to the germicidal radiation are in the claims 4th to 7 specified.
