Das Wesentliche dieser Construction besteht in beiden Fällen darin, dafs über dem rotirenden Werkzeug ein Schutzdach von passender Form sich befindet, welches an verticalen Schraubenspindeln verstellbar aufgehängt ist. In den Zeichnungen ist das Schutzdach mit A und die Spindeln mit ί bezeichnet. .S zeigt bei der Schutzvorrichtung für Hobelmaschinen die Spindelconstruction in gröfserem Mafsstabe. Die Flügelmuttern in, welche die Spindeln hochziehen, sind auf der unteren Fläche mit einer Nase versehen, welche in einen Einschnitt des Führungsbügels B greift. Die Spiralfedern f dienen dazu, die unteren Flächen der Muttern m immer auf die Fläche der Bügel zu ziehen; sie halten die Nasen der Muttern mit den Einschnitten der Bügel im Eingriff und gestatten trotzdem ein Drehen der Muttern.·The essence of this construction consists in both cases in the fact that over the rotating tool there is a protective canopy of suitable shape, which is adjustably suspended on vertical screw spindles. Der Arbeiter, welcher die Maschine bedient, ist also gezwungen, an der gefährlichen Stelle, d. i. über den rotirenden Hobelmessern, das Holzstück loszulassen, und kann die Hand erst hinter dem Schutzdach wieder darauf legen. Hat man hohe Arbeitsstücke zu hobeln, die nicht die ganze Breite des Tisches bedecken, so wäre zu befürchten, dafs der Arbeiter neben dem Arbeitsstück mit der Hand in die Messer kommt, und es sind deshalb am Schutzdach A die Klappen k angebracht, welche je nach der Breite des Arbeitsstückes in gewisser Anzahl niedergelassen werden können. Es ist endlich vorgesehen worden, dafs für Ausnahmefälle, wo sehr hohe Sachen behobelt werden sollen, das Schutzdach ganz entfernt werden kann; man braucht zu diesem Ende nur die Muttern ^z₁ zu entfernen und kann dann das mit dem Vorsprung Z in den gegenüberliegenden Schraubenkloben hängende Schutzdach fortnehmen.In the case of the protective device for wood planing machines, the flat protective roof A is placed so high that the piece of wood to be worked on has space in the space between A and the table T.
