Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft stabilisierte Flüssigkeiten«
Sie betrifft insbesondere Flüssigkeiten für hydraulische und automatische Getriebe, die eine überladene Beständigkeit gegen
Zersetzung durch Oxydation und verbesserte Schla^mdispergierungseigenschaften
besitzen und die für einen langer dauernden Betrieb in einem automatischen Getriebe bei erhöhten Temperaturen
besonders nützlich ist. ·
Die erxindun.5sgemäsden Zusammensetzungen besteheii ausser der
Grundflüssigkeit, der sie einverleibt werden, aus drei Komponenten, wobei die Anwesenheit 3 ader dieser Komponenten für die
Zwecke der vorliegenden Erfindung von entsprechender Bedeug

Typischervvei se können die R- und R -Gruppen methyl-, Äthyl-,
Butyl-, Kexyl-, Ootyl-, Phenyl-, Gresyl-, Dibutylphenyl- oder
Nonylphenylgruppen sein. Die Alkylgruppen können in jeder beliebigen
der bekannten räumlicnen Konfigurationen, //ie normal,
iso oder tertiär vorliegen. Sie können innerualb einer Verbindung
gleich oder ver schieden sein. Typische Aus führung sforu en
dieser Komponenten der Erfinaung sind z.B. Diüthylpaosphit, Dibutylphosphit,
Dihexylphosphit, Athyloctylphösphit, Butylhex/1-phoapnit,
Triäthylphosphit, Tributylphosphit, Diüthylphosphat,
Di butyl phosphat, Dioctylphosphat, Bi^feä .üiäthylthiophosphi t, Dibutyldithiopho-sphit,
Triäthyltrithiophosphit, Dioctylthiophosphit,
Diphenylphosphit, Dicresylphosphit, Äthylphenylphospiiit oder Diphenyl
phosphat.

Typische Vertreter der vorstehend definierten phenolisehen Verbindung
sind Gresol, 2-Butjlphenol, 2,6-Di-t-butyl-4-methylphenol,
2,6-Dimethylphenol, 2-Äthy 1-4-methylphenol, 2, 6-Dipropylphenol,:
4,4'-IAethylenbi3-(2-methylphenol), 2,4-Dimethylphenol und dgl.
In. der Praxis wird zwar meist nur ein Vertreter jeder der Verbindungen
der Formeln (I) und (II) verwendet, j βdooh sind auch Mischungen
von mehr als einer dieser Verbindungen fur die vorliegenden
Zwecke geeignet.
Die dritte Komponente der vorliegenden Erfindung ist ein Öllös-.iiches
Mischpolymeres aus einem N-Vinylpyrrolidinon und mindestens
einem Alkylacrylat oder Methacrylat, bei dem die Alkylgruppe oder Alkylgruppen -ei«« gross genug sind, um die Löslichkeit des Mischpolymeren
in der Petroleumflüssigkeit zu gewährleisten, der es
einverleibt werden soll. Das IT-Vi nyl pyrrolidino η soll in dem

Misciipolymeren in einer Menge zwischen efcva 0,1 und 20 Gev/.~$
enthalten sein. Der Gehalt des H-Vinylpyrrolidinon in dem
Mischpolymeren liegt vorzugsweise zv/iaohen O.,2 und Ib Ge-.v.-$;-in
einigen Fällen kann jedoch ein Eeraich zwischen etwa 0,5
und 10 Gew.-^ ervmnacht sein.
Zu den N-Vinylpyrrolidinonen, die sich als brauchbar erwi-esen
haben, gehören irVinylpyrrolidinon, j5-Methy 1-1-vinylpyrrolidinon,
4-Methyl-l-vinylpyrrolidinon, 5-Metliyl~l-vinylpyrrolidinon,
3-Ä'thyl-l-vinylpyrrolidinon, 3~Butyl-l-vinylpyrrolidinon,
3,3-Dimethyl-l-vinylpyrrolidinon, 4, ^--Dimethyl-l-vinylpyrrolidinon,
5,5-Dimethyl-l-vinylpyrrolidiOn, 3,3, 5-Triraethyl-lvinylpyrrolidinon,
4-Ätliyl-l-vinylpyrrolidinon, 5-Methyl-5-äthyl-1-vinylpyrrolidinon,
3,4, S-Trimethyl-S-äthyl-l-vinyl.pyrrolidinon
und andere, durch niedere Alkylreste substituierte N-Vinylpyrrolidinone.
Die substituierten W-Vinylpyrrolidinone können durch die Strukturformel

wiedergegeben werden, in der die R -Gruppen Alkylgruppen mit 1 bis
4 Kohlenstoffatomen sind. Die bevorzugten N-Vinylpyrrolidinone
sind die mit bis zu etwa 10 Kohlenstoffatomen. Die R -Gruppen
können auch Wasserstoff sein.
Der Rest des Mischpolymeren besteht in erster Linie aus Alkylacrylaten
oder Methaorylaten mit Alkylgruppen, die bis zu 18 G-Atonie
haben und im Durchschnitt hinreichend gross sind, um Löslichkeit in dem flüssigen Petroleumprodukt sicherzustellen, dem
die einzuverleiben sind.

Typische verwendbare Acrylate oder Methacrylate sind Methyl-, Äthyl-, Butyl-, Octyl-, .Decyl-, Dodecyl-, Tetradecyl-, Hexadecyl-
und Octadecylacrylate oder -methacrylate. Selbstverständlich wird-die Verwendung der Acrylate oder Methacrylate mit
höhürem Jlolskulargewicht bevorzugt, um die Löslichkeit in der
Plüsaigkeit sicherzustellen, in der sis zu verwenden aind. Es
ist jedoch häufig erwünscht, zur Erzielung gewisser Effekte einige
der niederen Acrylat- oder Methacrylaverbindungen einzuarbeiten.
Es ist gut möglich und häufig erv/ünscht, Mischungen
von Butylacrylat oder -lnethacrylat zusammen mit Dodeoyl- oder
Öctadecylacrylat oder -methacrylat oder beidem zu verv/enden. Es
ist ferner möglich, dass mehrere Acrylate oder Methacrylate als Mi-scaungen vorliegen, wobei zu beachten ist, dass das daraus ge- M
bildete Polymere eine ausreichende Öllöslichkeit besitzen soll,
um unter den vorliegenden Umständen nützlich zu sein. Es ist
vveiter möglich, dem Mischpolymeren kleine Mengen anderer polymei'isierbarer
Monovinylidenverbindungen unter der Voraussetzung
einzuverleiben,· da33 etwaige, neben dem Mischpolymeren gebildete Homopolymeren die Ziele der vorliegenden Erfindung nicht beeinträchtigen.
"Z.B. können unter anderem kleine Mengen Butylitaconat,
Dioctylitaconat, Didodecylfumarat, Vinyllaurat und Vinylstearat
verwandet werden. :
Diese Polymere //erden leicht nach bekannt jn Verfuir^n n arge st eilt,
vorzugsweise durch freie-Radikal-Polymerisation unter Verwendung
von Katalysatoren vom ρeroxyd- oder Azotyp. ^
Die drei Komponenten der erfindungdgemässen, vorstehend beschriebenen
Zusammensetzung werden in bestimmten Mengen verwendet. Die
Phösphit- oder Phoaphatkomponente wird in Mengen von etwa 0,01
und 5 Gew.-/», vorzugsweise etwa 0,1 und 0,5 Gew.-^, bezogen auf
die Elüsaigkeit, der sie einverleibt wird, verwendet. Die strukturell
beschränkte phenolische Verbindung wird in Mengen von etwa 0,01 und 5 Gew.—#, vorzugsweise etwa 0,01 und 1 Gew.-%, bezogen
auf die Flüssigkeit, in der sie eingesetzt werden soll,
verwendet.; Das angegebene Mischpolymere wird in Mengen von etwa
0",3 und 20 Gew.-$, vorzugsweise etwa 1 und 5 Gew.-^, bezogen auf
die Flüssigkeit, in dieses eingearbeitet werden soll, verwendet.

Für die Zwecke der vorliegenden Erfindung ist es wichtig, dass
man aioh strikt an die "Vorstehend angegebenen Bestimmungen bezüglich
der drei Komponenten hält» sonst werden Wi entige Vorteile
der vorliegenden Erfindung nitiht erzielt. Sowohl die angegebenen spezifischen Strukturen als auch di« die Prozentsätze
jeder der in den erfindungsgemassen Zusammensetzungen verwendeten
Komponenten müssen eingenalten werden. Bei strikter Einhaltung der erfindungsgemässen Zusammensetzung wird eine
hydraulische Flüssigkeit, insbesondere eine Flüssigkeit für
automatische Getriebe ernalten, die hinsichtlich ihrer Oxydationsbeständigkeit überraschen überlegen ist und verbesserte Reinigungsund
Dispersionseigenschaften besitzt.
Obwohl im allgemeinen üblieche Mischverfahren angewendet werden
können, werden vorzugsweise alle vorstehend beschriebenen Komponenten miteinander vermischt, bevor man sie ler hydraulischen
Flüssigkeit einverleibt.
Weiterhin ist, wenn die Grundflüssigkeit allein oder mit irgend einem der drei obigen Komponenten getrennt verwendet wird, die
Beständigkeit gegen Oxydation schlechter und nicht zufriedenstellend. Ferner ergibt jede Kombination von z,vei statt aller
drei vorstehend beschriebenen Komponenten ebenfalls schlechtere
Resultate.
Eines der Verfahren, die zur Bewertung der erfindur:gjgeinässen
Zusammensetzungen angewendet wurde, ist der "Blotter Spot Test"
(Löschblattfleckversuch), der von Deen und Stendahl in "Oxidation Stability, Shear Stability and Rubber S^eIl Properties of Automatic
Transmission Fluids", Society of Automotive Engeneering, Oktober 1959, beschrieben wurde. Bei diesem Test wird die Zeit bis
zur Schlammbildung eines bei 1630G gehaltenen Öl3 gemessen. Je
langer die zeit bis zur Schlammbildung ist, desto beständiger ist

strikt eingehalten wurde, betrug die Zeit bis zvlt Schiammbildung nach d· in vorutenend beseuriebenen Testverfahren stets v/eit über 200 Stunden und lag in vielen fällen über

Die erfindungsgemässe Zusammensetzung wird nach üblichen Verfahren gemischt. D^s folgende Verfahren ist z.B. zufriedenstell ends
In ein sauberes Reaktionagefäsa werden 31,60 ipeile des Mi3chpolymsren
der Zusammensetzung 1), gelöst in 57,38 Teilen eines
150 SUS Schmieröls,, 7,81 Teile 2,6-Di-t-l>utyl-p-oresol und
3,12 Teile Dibutylphosphit gegeben. Die Mischung wird erhitzt
und bei 110° bis 1300U eineinhalb Stunden gerührt. Nach dieser
Zeit werden 6,4 Teile der Mischung zu 93*6 Teilen einer Basiaflüssigkeit
für automatische Getriebe zugesetzt. Die Mischung wird bei 6O0O eine Stunde lang gerührt. Das erhaltene Material
ist dann fertig für die endgültige Verwendung nach den vorstehend
angegebenen Prozentaatzen.
Die vorstehenden Zusammensetzungen Beigen alle "zufriedenstellende
Abnutzungsbeständigkeit im standardisierten Shell-Vier-Kugel-.
test. Es ist zu beachten, dass in einigen Fällen wegen möglicher
extremer Abnutzungsbedinurigen kleine Prozentsätze an Phosphor
schwefelverbindungen erwünscht sein können, wie phospho*-
aulfuriertes Terpen, aulfuriertee Spermöl, P^S^jphosphosulfurierte
Polyolefine, P4S7 und dgl. Sie sind gut verträglich mit den
drei erfindungsgemässen Verbindungen. ^Es können auch Antirostmittel, Hochleistungs-Detergentien und andere bekannte Typen
von Zusätzen verwendet werden, um besondere Effekte zu erzielen.
Beispielsweise können Zink-, Barium- oder ELekeldialkyidithiophoaphat,
Alkylarylsulfonate, Calcium-, Barium- oder Strontiumpetrol
eumsulfonate Erdalkalimetallphenatsialfide, z.B, die von
Calcium und Barium, Silikone oder Alkylarylphosphat, Phenothiazine,
Phenylendiamine, Saphthylamine, Borhalogenide und Boreater
verwendet werden·
