Description
Es ist bekannt, cyclische Phosphonate durch Umsetzung von bicyclischen Phosphaten mit organischen
Halogeniden, z. B. Di- und Trichlorverbindungen, gegebenenfalls in Gegenwart eines inerten Lösungsmittels
bei einer Reaktionstemperatur von 100 bis 2000C, herzustellen (USA.-Patentschriften 3 033 887
und 3 033 888). Der dreiwertige Phosphor des bicyclischen Phosphits geht bei der Reaktion in fünfwertigen
Phosphor über. Die Verwendung von Polycarbonsäuren, z. B. an Stelle der Halogenide, wird
nicht erwähnt. Die erhaltenen Produkte werden als Herbizide oder Fungizide eingesetzt.
Hinsichtlich der Reaktion zwischen cyclischen Phosphiten und organischen Halogeniden ist es auch

(I) bekannt, daß diese der Arbusow-Michaelis-Reaktion unterworfen sind, wobei der dreiwertige Phosphor in
fiinfwertigen umgewandelt wird (s. auch Krauch —
K u η ζ »Namenreaktionen der organischen Chemie«, Dr. A. Hüthig Verlag, [1961], S. 18, sowie Journal of
the American Chemical Society, Bd. 84 [1962], S. 610 bis 617). Hierbei wird daraufhingewiesen, daß infolge
sterischer Hinderung nur ein einziges Isomeres gebildet werden kann.
Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung
von 1,3,2-Dioxaphosphorinanderivaten, das dadurch gekennzeichnet ist, daß man ein bicyclisches Phosphit
der allgemeinen Formel
O—P
in der A einen gegebenenfalls durch ein oder zwei niedrige Alkylgruppen substituierten Methylenrest
und R sowie R2 einen niedrigen aliphatischen Kohlenwasserstoffrest
bedeutet, bei 50 bis 3000C und gegebenenfalls in Anwesenheit eines organischen Lösungsmittels
mit einer Dicarbonsäure mit 4 bis 20 Kohlenstoffatomen umsetzt und wobei das Molverhältnis
von bicyclischem Phosphit zu den Carboxylgruppenäquivalenten 1:1 bis 2 beträgt.
Die erfindungsgemäßen Produkte sind neu. Der dargestellte Reaktionsverlauf ist insofern unerwartet,
als bisher die Ringöffnung ähnlicher bicyclischer Systeme nur schwierig zu erreichen ist. Es war daher
überraschend, daß das Phosphattrioxabicyclooctansystem durch organische Säuren so leicht aufgespalten
werden konnte. Es ist weiter überraschend, daß bei Umsetzung von 1 Mol Phosphit mit einem
Carboxylgruppenäquivalent nur geringe Mengen des verbleibenden monocyclischen Phosphadioxacyclohexansystems
weiter aufgespalten werden.
Die Reaktion verläuft im einfachsten Falle mit den zu verwendenden Dicarbonsäuren unter Ringöffnung nach
folgender Gleichung:

Jedoch kann die Reaktion, wenn nicht alle Carboxylgruppen der eingesetzten Dicarbonsäure reagieren, nach
folgender Gleichung ablaufen:

Als bicyclisches Phosphit der Formel (I) eignet sich ein solches, bei dem A einen gegebenenfalls durch eine
oder zwei niedrige Alkylgruppen substituierten Methylenrest bedeutet und wobei die Summe der Alkylgruppen
an jeder Methylengruppe vorzugsweise nicht mehr als 8 C-Atome beträgt, wie das bicyclische
Phosphit des 1,1,1-Trimethylol-äthans, 1,1,1-Trimethylol-propans,
1,1,1-Trimethylol-butans.
Als Dicarbonsäure wird eine solche, die 4 bis 20 Kohlenstoffatome enthält, verwendet. Der Rest R1 in den
obigen Reaktionsgleichungen kann aliphatischer, cycloaliphatischer oder aromatischer Natur sein und
ferner durch Halogen, das der Michaelis-Arbusow-Reaktion nicht zugänglich ist, insbesondere durch
Chlor und/oder Brom, substituiert sein.
Als Dicarbonsäuren eignen sich z. B. gesättigte
oder ungesättigte aliphatische Dicarbonsäuren, in denen die Carboxylgruppen von der Doppelbindung
durch mindestens je ein C-Atom getrennt sind; cycloaliphatische Dicarbonsäuren, aromatische Dicarbonsäuren
mit insbesondere einem Benzolkern, wie Bernsteinsäure, Adipinsäure, Hexahydrophthalsäure,
^1-3-Tetranydrophthalsäure, Phthalsäure, Isophthalsäure,
Terephthalsäure, Naphthalindicarbonsäure, Tetrabromphthalsäure, Hexachlorendomethylentetrahydrophthalsäure,
Diphenyldicarbonsäure, Diphenylätherdicarbonsäure, Phenylendiessigsäure oder Gemische
davon. Es sind also auch Dicarbonsäuren der vorgenannten Art geeignet, in denen Substituenten
enthalten sind, die unter den beanspruchten Reak-
tionsbedingungen mit bicyclischen Phosphaten keinen oder nur in geringfügigem Maße einen anderen
Reaktionsablauf zulassen. Substituenten dieser Art sind z. B. Sauerstoffbrücken zwischen solchen C-Atomen,
an die lediglich Kohlenstoff oder auch gegebenenfalls Wasserstoff gebunden ist oder solche Halogenatome,
die keine Michaelis-Arbusow-Reaktion eingehen.
Die Reaktion wird bei Temperaturen zwischen 50 und 3000C, vorzugsweise zwischen 100 und 200° C,
zumeist bei Normaldruck, gegebenenfalls gegen Ende der Umsetzung auch bei einem Unterdruck von beispielsweise
0,1 bis 200 mm durchgeführt. In vielen Fällen ist es vorteilhaft, Inertgas wie Stickstoff oder
Kohlendioxyd über das Reaktionsgemisch zu leiten. Die Umsetzung kann auch in Gegenwart von Lösungsmitteln
durchgeführt werden. Geeignete Lösungsmittel sind beispielsweise aliphatische, cycloaliphatische
oder aromatische Kohlenwasserstoffe oder Äther, aromatische Chlorkohlenwasserstoffe, aliphatische
oder cycloaliphatische Ketone, wie Toluol, Xylol, Chlorbenzol, Dibutyläther, Cyclohexanon. Zur
Beschleunigung der Reaktion können Katalysatoren zugesetzt werden. Als solche eignen sich Lewissäuren,
wie Aluminiumchlorid, Bortrifluorid, Zinkchlorid, Zinn- oder Titantetrachlorid, primäre und sekundäre
Phosphate, aber auch Phosphorsäure.
Die Verfahrensprodukte stellen mehr oder weniger hochviskose Flüssigkeiten oder auch feste Harze mit
nur schwacher Eigenfarbe dar. Sie sind in vielen gebräuchlichen Lösungsmitteln, wie Alkoholen, Ketonen,
Äthern, Estern mäßig bis gut, einige auch in Kohlenwasserstoffen, wie Toluol, Xylol, Styrol, löslich.
Da sie sekundäre Phosphitgruppen enthalten, lösen sie sich auch in verdünnten wäßrigen Alkalien.
Einige können als Schädlingsbekämpfungsmittel, andere als flammwidrige Zusätze für ungesättigte
Polyester, Polystyrol, Polyurethane, Phenolharze sowie deren Verschäumungsprodukte verwendet werden.
Lösungen von ihnen sind zum Schwerentflammbarmachen von Textilien und Papier geeignet.
730 g Adipinsäure (5 Mol) werden mit 1620 g bicyclischem
Trimethylolpropanphosphit (10 Mol) so lange auf 1800C erhitzt, bis im Reaktionsgemisch
dünnschicht-chromatographisch nur noch Spuren des Bicyclophosphits nachweisbar sind (10 Stunden). Diese
werden im Vakuum (10 mm) bei 1700C aus dem Reaktionsgemisch entfernt.
Für den Nachweis wurden folgende Materialien verwendet:
Dünnschicht-chromatographische Platten: Kieselgel (Merck),
Fließmittel: Methylenchlorid-Ligroin (7: 3 Volumen),
Nachweisreagenz: Silbernitrat-Ammoniak nach Zaffaroni (E. Mere k-Darmstadt, »Anfärbereagenzien
für Dünnschicht- und Papierchromatographie«, S. 50).
Es verbleiben 2346 eines hochviskosen, klaren Körpers. Die Verbindung besitzt die Struktur gemäß
Formel (III), s. Formelblatt, Summenformel:

830 g Isophthalsäure (5 Mol) werden mit 1620 g bicyclischemTrimethylolpropanphosphitilO Mol)und
270 g Xylol 6 Stunden auf 1900C erhitzt. Danach wird
die Temperatur unter Abdestillieren von Xylol innerhalb von 2 Stunden auf 215° C gesteigert und die
immer viskoser werdende Reaktionsmischung 14 Stunden bei dieser Temperatur gerührt. Nach dem Abkühlen
auf 190° C wird das restliche Xylol im Vakuum entfernt. Es werden 2382 g (97,4% der Theorie) einer
Verbindung gemäß Formel IV, Summenformel:
als gelblich, hartes Harz erhalten, in dem dünnschichtchromatographisch
nur noch Spuren der Ausgangsmaterialien nachweisbar sind. Der Nachweis erfolgte wie im Beispiel 1 angegeben.

Die Substanz wird ferner durch das im Diagramm angegebene IR-Spektrum charakterisiert.
1945 g Hexachlorendomethylentetrahydrophthalsäure (5 Mol) werden mit 1620 g Trimethylolpropanbicyclophosphit
(10 Mol) und 500 ml Xylol so lange auf 1500C erhitzt, daß im Reaktionsgemisch nur
noch Spuren des Bicyclophosphits nachweisbar sind (13 Stunden). Der dünnschicht-chromatographische
Nachweis erfolgte, wie im Beispiel 1 angegeben. Nach dem anschließenden Abdestillieren des Lösungsmittels
und einer geringen Menge einer nicht näher untersuchten Substanz verbleiben 3416 g (96% der Theorie,
bezogen auf C21H26O10P2Cl6) eines spröden, harzartigen,
gelblichen Produktes. Die Verbindung besitzt die Struktur gemäß Formel V.

Die Substanz wird ferner durch das im Diagramm angegebene IR-Spektrum charakterisiert.
590 g (5 Mol) Bernsteinsäure werden mit 740 g (5 Mol) bicyclischem Trimethyloläthanphosphit 2 Stunden
bei 80° C verrührt. Dann wird die Temperatur rasch auf 1700C gesteigert. Die anfangs trübe Reaktionsmischung
wird klar, und die Viskosität steigt stark an. Nach 10 bis 15 Minuten wird das Reaktionsprodukt heiß in Formen gegossen. Nach dem Abkühlen
werden 1317 g (99% der Theorie, bezogen auf C14H24O10P2) einer glasklaren Masse erhalten, die
auf Walzenstühlen und im Extruder zerkleinert werden kann. In diesem Produkt sind dünnschichtchromatographisch
nur noch Spuren von bicyclischem Trimethyloläthanphosphit nachweisbar. Die Verbindung besitzt die Struktur gemäß Formel VI.

Die Substanz wird ferner durch das im Diagramm angegebene IR-Spektrum charakterisiert.

170 g (1 Mol) Tetrahydrophthalsäure werden mit 176 g (1 Mol) S-MethyM-äthyl-^oJ-trioxa-l-phosphabicyclo-[2,2,2]-octan
und 50 g Chlorbenzol in 6 Stunden auf 1800C erhitzt. Die Mischung wird allmählich
homogen und hochviskos. Bei 18O0C wird dann das Ganze 8 Stunden gerührt und danach bei
1600C das Lösungsmittel im Wasserstrahlvakuum
abdestilliert. Als Rückstand verbleiben 318 g (92% der Theorie, bezogen auf C15H23O7P) einer klaren,
farblosen, zähen Flüssigkeit, in der dünnschichtchromatographisch weder Tetrahydrophthalsäure
noch das Bicyclophosphit nachweisbar sind. Die Substanz besitzt die Struktur gemäß Formel VII.

516 g (3 Mol) Hexahydrophthalsäure und 888 g (6 Mol) acyclisches Triniethyloläthanphosphit werden
unter Rühren so lange auf 180 bis 200° C erhitzt, bis im Reaktionsgemisch kein Bicyclophosphit mehr
nachweisbar ist (12 Stunden). Nach dem Abkühlen auf Raumtemperatur verbleibt ein schwach gelblichgefärbtes, klares Weichharz. Die Ausbeute ist praktisch
quantitativ (bezogen auf Q8H30O10P2). Das
Reaktionsprodukt besitzt die Struktur gemäß Formel VIII.

415 g (2,5 Mol) o-Phthalsäure, 810 g (5 Mol) W-cyclisches
Trimethylolpropanphosphit und 0,6 g wasserfreies Aluminiumchlorid werden 16 Stunden auf
166 bis 1700C erhitzt. Die Reaktionsmischung wird trübe, und die Abspaltung von· Chlorwasserstoff beginnt.
Wenn diese beendet ist, wird ein opaleszierendes, hochviskoses Reaktionsprodukt erhalten, aus
dem bei 1700C (10 mm) eine kleine Menge Phthalsäureanhydrid
abdestilliert wird. Es werden 1210 g (98% der Theorie, bezogen auf C20H28O10P2) einer
Verbindung mit der Struktur gemäß Formel IX erhalten. .

482 g (1 Mol) Tetrabromphthalsäure und 296 g (2 Mol) bicyclisches Trimethyloläthanphosphit werden
unter gutem Rühren 14 Stunden auf 180 bis 1850C erhitzt. Das Reaktionsgemisch färbt sich dabei
gelb. Sobald in demselben dünnschicht-chromatographisch kein Bicyclophosphit mehr nachweisbar
ist, wird abgekühlt. Es werden 776 g eines klaren, gelben Harzes erhalten. Die Substanz besitzt die
Struktur gemäß Formel X.

174 g (1 Mol) Korksäure und 148 g (1 Mol) bicyclisches
Trimethyloläthanphosphit werden bis zum völligen Umsatz des letzteren 12 Stunden auf 190
bis 2000C erhitzt. Eine kleine Probe des Reaktionsproduktes muß bei Raumtemperatur völlig klar
erstarren. Ist dies der Fall, so wird die Reaktion abgebrochen und das Reaktionsprodukt abgekühlt. Es
werden 318 g (nahezu quantitative Ausbeute) eines
farblosen, klaren Produktes erhalten. Die Verbindung besitzt die Struktur gemäß Formel XI.

werden mit 59 g (0,5 Mol) Bernsteinsäure bei 105° C verschmolzen. Das homogenisierte Gemisch wird so
lange vorsichtig auf 170 bis 1800C erhitzt, bis eine
Probe nicht mehr kristallin erstarrt (1 bis 2 Stunden). Es wird dann eine hochviskose, farblose Flüssigkeit
erhalten. Die Ausbeute ist quantitativ, bezogen auf Q8H32O10P2. Das Reaktionsprodukt besitzt die Struktur
gemäß Formel XII.

Claims (1)
- Patentanspruch:Verfahren zur Herstellung von 1,3,2-Dioxaphosphorinanderivaten, dadurch gekenn-O—AP—O—A—C—R oder°-A ff)in der A einen gegebenenfalls durch eine oder zwei niedrige Alkylgruppen substituierten Methyzeichnet, daß man ein bicyclisches Phosphit der allgemeinen FormelO—dl)eines organischen Lösungsmittels mit einer Dicarbonsäure mit 4 bis 20 Kohlenstoffatomen um-lenrest und R sowie R2 einen niedrigen alipha- 15 setzt und wobei das Molverhältnis von bicyclitischen Kohlenwasserstoffrest bedeutet, bei 50 schem Phosphit zu den Carboxylgruppenäqui-bis 3000C und gegebenenfalls in Anwesenheit valenten 1:1 bis 2 beträgt.Formelblatt 0-CH2 O O CH2-O/ < Il Il / \HO-P C—CH2O-C—(CH2)4—C—OCH2-C P-OH0-CH7C2H5 CH2-OC2H5(III)P = 13,2%0-CH2HO—PC-CH2O-C0-CH2C2H50-CH2ClCl—iα—ιClO
