Sie sind hart· brüchig· feste Stoff·, welche sich in wfiaatrigon
Systemen löslich machen lassen und nach bekannten Methoden in Eiter,
Amide, Imide oder Salze übergeführt werden können, die ihrerseits lötlioh
sind, wenn die Gruppen groB genug sind. Völlig befriedigend waren diese Produkte aber in Ol bisher nicht, insbesondere besitzen
sie keine nennenswerte diaρergierende Wirkung.
ISs wurde beobachtet, daß sich aus Gemischen von anderen Co-Jilonomeren
mit Maleinsäureanhydrid normale öllösliche Mischpolymerisate herstellen
lassen und daß die Produkte, wenn genügend Maleinsäureanhydrid angewendet wird, auch eine gewisse dispergierende .Virkung zeigen.
Dafür sind diese Mischpolymerisate aber mit einer ünstabilität in Ölen behaftet. So zeigte sich, daß aus mit diesen Mischpolymerisaten
versetzten Motorenölen unter gewissen Bedingungen sich gummiartige Substanzen abscheiden. Selbst wenn die Mischpolymerisate dieser Art
durch Umsetzung mit langkettigen Alkoholen modifiziert werden, können
sich unter bestimmten Bedingungen derartige gummiartige Stoffe abscheiden. Entsprechende Produkte auf ^asis von Itaconsäure verhalten
sich in der gleichen Weise.
Es wurde nun gefunden, daß sich aus den gleichen Ausgangsstoffen öllösliche
Produkte herstellen lassen, die außerdem zusätzlich neue und wertvolle Eigenschaften, insbesondere eine gute dispergierende
Wirkung,besitzen, indem man in einer ersten Arbeitsstufe einen oder
mehrere monoäthylenisch ungesättigte Ester, die zur Polymerisation
befähigt sind und eine öllöslich machende Gruppe enthalten, bis zu
50 bis 90 i» auspolymerisiert und das erhaltene Gemisch von Öllöslichem
Mischpolymerisat und Monomeren in einer zweiten Stufe mit etwa 1 bis 10 Gewichtsprozent, berechnet auf die angewendeten
Monomeren, Itaoonsäureanhydrid oder Maleinsäureanhydrid zusammen

polymerisiert, wobei die Reaktion in beiden Stufen durch einen freie
Radikale bildenden Initiator beschleunigt wird. lach der Erfindung
wird in der ersten Stufe ein öllöelichea örundpolyeeriaat oder
Mischpolymerisat gebildet und dieses in der «weiten Stufe durch
die Aufpfropfung τοη Einheiten der Maleinsäure und/oder der Itaconsäure vorteilhaft modifisiert, insbesondere in Richtung auf die
dispergierende Wirkung. Die Produkte des Verfahrene der Erfindung
zeigen Mit kleineren Anteilen τοη Maleinsäure-und/oder Itaoonsäureanhydrid eine stärkere diapergierende Wirksamkeit alts konventionelle
Mischpolymerisate und neigen viel weniger bu anderen Reaktionen, eur Abscheidung oder sur Vernetzung. Gleichseitig vermitteln die
Pfropf-Mischpolymerisate der Erfindung noch andere günstige Wirkungen oder Eigenschaften, e.B. Verbesserungen im Viskoaltätsindex und in der Gießpunktserniedrigung, indem man das Co-Polymerlsat
für das Grundskelett des Polymerisats entsprechend auswählt.
Modifikationen der Pfropfmischpolymerisate der Erfindung sind möglicfc
mit Aminen, Alkoholen oder luercaptanen, Basen oder Phosphorlgsäureestern.
Vorzugsweise beträgt der Anteil von Maleinsäureanhydrid, Itaconsänreanhydrid oder einem Gemisch beider Anhydride 1 bis 5 Gewichtaprosent
der Ausgangsmonomeren.
Als AuBgangsmonomere werden beispielsweise genannt Ester der Acryl-,
Methaoryl-j Itacon- oder Fumarsäure oder Vinylcarbozylate oder
Gemische solcher einfach ungesättigter definischer Ester, deren
Kohlenwasserstoffgruppen eine genügende Burohschnittsgröße besitisen,
um dem schließlichen Pfropf-Miachpolymerisat in der Flüssigkeit, in
der es angewendet werden soll, die erforderliche Löslichkeit su verleihen« Geeignete Gruppen für diesen Zweck sind im allgemeinen Alkylgruppen, welche sich von dem Alkohol ableiten, der sur Veresterung
der ungesättigten Säure benutet wurde oder im Säurerest der Vlnyloarbonsäureeater vorhanden ist. Biese 611(SsIlCh machenden Alkylgruppen enthalten mindestens 8 C-Atome. Geeignete AuBgangsfeonomere
sind also die Octyl-, Nonyl-, Decyl-, ündecyl-, Dodeoyl-, Tridecyl-,

i'etradecyl-, hexadecyl, üctadecyl, Eicosyl- oder Tetracosyleeter der
Acrylsäure, Methacrylsäure, Itaconsäure oder Fumarsäure, wobei die
Alkylgruppen geradkettig oder verzweigt sein können. Auch üster mit
kleineren Alkylgruppen, beispielsweise von Methyl bis Heptyl, sind geeignet, falls die durchschnittliche Größe der Kohlenwasserstoffreste
ausreicht, um die gewünschte Löslichkeit herzustellen. ochlieSlich sind auch für diesen Zweck solche Ester geeignet, deren
.Ilkoholanteile Kohlenstoffringe enthalten, z.B. Benzyl, Cyclopentyl,
Cyclohexyl, Dicyclopentyl, Phenyl oder Alkylphenyl. Im Fall, der
Vinylcarbonsäuree3ter kann der Jäureteil von der Essigsäure bis zur
Stearinsäure oder noch höheren Fettsäuren gewählt werden. Die durchschnittliche Größe dieser Kohlenwasserstoffgruppen reicht aus, um
die gewünschte Löslichkeit herzustellen.
Bei der Herstellung des Grundpolymerisats in der ersten jtufe können
auch noch ein oder mehrere andere zur i/olymerisation befähigte
einfach ungesättigte Co-^onomere herangezogen werden, beispielsweise
luster der oben erwähnten ungesättigten Carbonsäuren mit Alkoholen,
welche Heteroatome, wie sauerstoff, Schwefel, stickstoff oder
Phosphor,enthalten. Typische Alkoholreste dieser Art sind Methoxyäthyl,
Äthoxyäthyl, Butoxyäthyl, üctoxyäthyl, Äthoxypropyl, Butoxypropyl,
Äthoxyäthoxyäthyl, Butoxyäthoxyäthoxyäthyl, Phenoxyäthyl, Benzoxyäthyl, Cyclohexoxyäthyl,und dergleichen, Äthylthioäthyl,
Äthylsulfonyläthyl, Dodecylthioäthyl und vergleichbare Thioäther,
Acetoxyäthyl, Acetoxypropyl, Butyroxyäthyl, Butyroxypropyl, Dodecanoyloxyäthyl, Dimethylaminoäthyl, tert-Butylaminoäthyl,
tert-Konylaminoäthyl, Diäthylphosphonäthyl, Dibutylphosphitäthyl.
Ebenfalls verwendbar sind Ester der Maleinsäure, wie Dimethyl-,
Dioctyl- oder Didodecylmaleat. jvialeate werden am besten in Verbindung
mit anderen leichter polymerisierenden Lstern angewendet. In etwas
geringerem Grade gilt dies auch für Fumarester.
Ferner sind geeignete Co-Monomere »>tyrol, p-Ohlorstyrol, p-Methylstyrol,

In der ersten Stufe wird das Monomere oder Monomerengemisch vorzugsweise
in Anwesenheit eines Lösungsmittels und unter Einwirkung eines freie Radikale bildenden Initiators, z.B. einerAzoverbindung, eines

Peroxyds oder ein/Hydroperoxyds, polymerisiert, wobei es günstig ist, unter einer inerten Gras atmosphäre, wie Stickstoff, Argon oder dergleichen, zu arbeiten. Die Polymerisation kann in der blasse ausgeführt werden, wobei das Monomere mindestens zu Beginn als Lösungsmittel wirkt. Zweckmäßiger ist aber die Polymerisation in einem Lösungsmittel, welches das Grundpolymerisat löst. Auf diese ".'ei3e ergeben sich weniger viskose Mischungen, welche sich wirksamer rühren lassen. Als geeignete Lösungsmittel werden beispielsweise genannt aromatische Kohlenwasserstoffe, wie Benzol, Toluol, Xylol, aromatische Destillate, Chlorkohlenwasserstoffe, wie Äthylendichlorid, Ester wie Butylazetat, Athylpropionat und Potrolöle, welche verhältnis mäßig frei von störenden oder Inhibierenden Stoffen sind. Das Lösungsmittel kann mit fortschreitender Polymerisation vermehrt werden und es können auch verschiedene l'ypen von Lösungsmitteln angewendet werden. Man kann das Lösungsmittel in dem ferti-gen Polymeren belassen oder ein flüchtiges Lösungsmittel abdestillieren und gegebenenfalls durch ein verhältnismäßig nicht-flüchtiges Lösungsmittel ersetzen.
Peroxyds oder ein/Hydroperoxyds, polymerisiert, wobei es günstig ist, unter einer inerten Gras atmosphäre, wie Stickstoff, Argon oder dergleichen, zu arbeiten. Die Polymerisation kann in der blasse ausgeführt werden, wobei das Monomere mindestens zu Beginn als Lösungsmittel wirkt. Zweckmäßiger ist aber die Polymerisation in einem Lösungsmittel, welches das Grundpolymerisat löst. Auf diese ".'ei3e ergeben sich weniger viskose Mischungen, welche sich wirksamer rühren lassen. Als geeignete Lösungsmittel werden beispielsweise genannt aromatische Kohlenwasserstoffe, wie Benzol, Toluol, Xylol, aromatische Destillate, Chlorkohlenwasserstoffe, wie Äthylendichlorid, Ester wie Butylazetat, Athylpropionat und Potrolöle, welche verhältnis mäßig frei von störenden oder Inhibierenden Stoffen sind. Das Lösungsmittel kann mit fortschreitender Polymerisation vermehrt werden und es können auch verschiedene l'ypen von Lösungsmitteln angewendet werden. Man kann das Lösungsmittel in dem ferti-gen Polymeren belassen oder ein flüchtiges Lösungsmittel abdestillieren und gegebenenfalls durch ein verhältnismäßig nicht-flüchtiges Lösungsmittel ersetzen.
So kann man ein flüchtiges Lösungsmittel verdrängen und das Polymere
mit einem Öl guter Qualität aufnehmen, beispielsweise einem Neutralöl
IOC oder 150, um eine Lösung des Polymerisats in 01 zu erhalten.
Ebenso kann ein synthetisches schmiermittel, wie Dibutyl-oder
Dioctylsebazat, Dioctylazelat, Tributyl- oder Tricresylphosphat,
ein Kieselsäureester oder ein flüssiges Silikon zum Lösen oder Aufnehmen des Polymerisats herangezogen werden.
Da3 Grundpolymerisat in der ersten Stufe wird gebildet, indem man
das Monomerengemisch mit dem Initiator auf Temperaturen zwischen.

tert-Butylperbenzoat, 2,2-ßis(tert-butylperoxy)-butan,
Jiiethyläthylketonperoxyd, ferner Hydroperoxyde, wie tert-Butylhydroperoxyd,
Cymolhydroperoxyd, Diisopropylbenzolhydroperoxyd,
p-menthanhydroperoxyd, Pinenhydroperoxyd, 2,5-Dimethylhexan-2,5-dihydroperoxyd,
und andere tert-alkyl- und kohlenwasserstoffaubstituierte
Benzolhydroperoxyde. V<ird zu Beginn ein Hydroperoxyd angewendet, so kann seine Wirksamkeit durch die verschiedenen Stadien
der rolymerisation fortgesetzt werden oder man setzt ein oder
mehrere Hydroperoxyde in Portionen auf den verschiedenen stufen zu.
In Kombination mit einem Hydroperoxyd ist es zwar nicht unerläßlich,
aber zweckmäßig einen Aktivator anzuwenden, der mindestens teilweise freie Radikale bei niedrigeren Temperaturen als sonst entstehen läßt,
liierfür kommen quaternäre Verbindungen in Frage, welche in dem
polymerisierenden Gremisch löslich sind, beispielsweise Benzyltrimethylammoniumchlorid,

und beträgt im allgemeinen 5 bis 4-0 Gewichtsprozent, berechnet auf
Hydroperoxyd.

5 yof berechnet auf ko nomer engewicht. In der ersten Stufe werden zweckmäßig
0,05 bis 2,5 y° Initiator zur Bildung des Grundpolymerisats angewendet.
Falls Polymerisate niedrigen Molekulargewichts hergestellt werden sollen, kann man sogar mehr und bis zu 5 *i* anwenden. In der
zweiten Stufe empfiehlt es sich, etwa 0,1 bis 1 t° Initiator zu
verwenden, obwohl auch die ganze Initiatormenge gleich in der ersten Stufe eingebracht werden kann.
Sobald die Polymerisation der ersten Stufe zu 50 bis 90 /» fortgeschritten
und ein entsprechendes Grundpolymerisat gebildet worden ist, setzt man das Maleinsäure- oder Itaconsäureanhydrid zu, was in einer
einzigen Gabe oder in Portionen erfolgen kann. Am besten setzt man
diesen üeaktionsteilnehmer in Lösung zu. &c kann in einem geeigneten
Lösungsmittel, wie Azeton oder üaethyläthylketon, oder in einem oder
mehreren zur Polymerisation befähigten äthylenisch ungesättigten Monomeren gelöst werden. Niedere Alkylacrylate sind für diesen Zweck
besonders empfehlenswert. So kann die gewünschte i^enge Anhydrid,
etwa 1 bis 10 /o, vorzugsweise 1 bis 5 /"» und insbesondere 1,3 bis
3 /o, in dem Methyl-, Äthyl-, Propyl- oder Jiutylester der Acrylsäure
oder Methacrylsäure gelöst und diese Lösung dem Polymerisatgemisch
in der ersten Stufe zugesetzt werden. In diesem Zeitpunkt kann auch
weiterer Initiator zugefügt werden.

Der Grad der Polymerisation in der ersten Stufe läßt sich bestimmen,
indem man Lösungsmittel und noch vorhandenes Monomeres durch Erhitzen, vorzugsweise unter vermindertem Druck, verflüchtigt, oder
indem man das Polymerisat mit Hilfe eines Nicht-Lösungsmittels ausfällt,
mit einem flüchtigen Stoff, wie Pentan, wäscht und durch Erhitzen trocknet. Sobald man in einigen Testversuchen den Verlauf
der Polymerisation unter gegebenen Bedingungen bestimmt und den richtigen Zeitpunkt für den Zusatz des Anhydrids ermittelt hat, kann
man nach einem festen Fahrplan ohne jedesmalige Analyse arbeiten.
Sobald das Anhydrid dem G-rundpolymerisat aufgepfropft ist, kann das
fertige Pfropf-Mischpolymerisat durch Ausfällung oder durch Verdampfen des flüchtigen Lösungsmittels oder durch Verdrängung des flüchtigen
Lösungsmittels durch ein verhältnismäßig nicht-flüchtiges Lösungsmittel
isoliert werden. Fan mischt die Lösung des Mischpolymerisats mit dem nicht-flüchtigen Lösungsmittel und erhitzt das Gemisch, wobei
Temperaturen von IOC bis 2000C und Vakuum von 5 bis 30 mm. Hg in Frage
kommen. Auf diese Weise werden die restlichen JV'onomeren entfernt und
der Katalysator zersetzt, delbst wenn die Mischpolymerisation in
einem öl, z.B. inertem weißen Mineralöl, ausgeführt wird, ist es im
allgemeinen zweckmäßig, das Reaktionsgemisch zur Entfernung der flüchtigen Anteile und zur Zersetzung der Initiatorspuren auf 14-0
bis 1500G bei 5 bis 50 mm.'Hg Druck zu erhitzen.
Vorzugsweise führt man das Maleinsäureanhydrid oder Fumarsäureanhydrid
in das Reaktionsgemisch ein, indem man es in einer zur Polymerisation befähigten Vinylidenverbindung löst. Acrylate mit
1 bis 8 C-Atomen, vorzugsweise 1 bis 4 C-Atomen, im Alkylrest, sind
besonders geeignet, ebenso die entsprechenden Methacrylate. Die niederen Acrylate und Methacrylate acheinen die Wirkung des Maleinsäureanhydrids
zu steigern, so daß Pfropf-Mischpolymerisate mit ausgezeichneten aigenschaften entstehen.
Das Anhydrid kann, wie erwähnt, auch in einem inerten organischen Lösungsmittel, wie ßutylazetat, Ithylazetat, Azeton, Methyläthylketon,
Toluol oder Gemischen derselben zugesetzt werden. Nicht ganz so

günstig ist das Einmischen des Anhydrids in fester -Form, so daß es
sich im Polymerisationsgemisch löst und umsetzt, oder in Form einer Suspension in einer Flüssigkeit, welche die Monomeren und/oder
Polymerisate löst.
Die in das Gfrundpolymere eingeführten Anhydridgruppen eignen sich ,
besonders für weitere Umsetzung mit Alkoholen, Aminen, anderen Basen einschließlich Ammoniak, oder Mercaptanen.
Es ist zwar bereits vorgeschlagen worden, übliche Mischpolymerisate
der Maleinsäure durch Umsetzung mit solchen Agentien zu modifizieren, aber die Pfropf-Mischpolymerisate der vorliegenden Erfindung geben
in diesem Fall Reaktionsprodukte anderen Charakters. Während beispielsweise
übliche Mischpolymerisate während der modifizierenden Reaktion oft gelieren, bleiben die Pfropf-Mischpolymerisate der
Erfindung löslich.
Die erfindungsgemäßen Pfropf-Mischpolymerisate haben Molekulargewichte
von 10 000 bis Über 1 ÜüO üOÜ, gemessen in V/erten der
Durchschnittsviskosität.
Die Produkte der Erfindung sind wertvolle Zusätze für Schmieröle, die sie in verschiedenen Beziehungen, beispielsweise durch Steigerung
des Viskositätsindex oder Erniedrigung des Grießpunktes, verbessern,
während sie gleichzeitig dispergierende und reinigende V'irkung mitteilen.
Die Schmieröle umfassen /iskositätsbereiche vom Spindelöl bis zu Flugzeugmotorenölen und Getriebeölen. Öle für Funkenzündungsund
Kompressionszündungsmaschinen werden üblicherweise unter der Bezeichnung 3AE 10 bis 50 auf den Markt gebracht und umfassen auch
die sogenannten Mehrzwecköle (multiple branded oils), welche durch
Anwendung von Mischpolymerisaten der vorliegenden Erfindung möglich
gemacht sind. Andere schmierende Öle, in denen die Mischpolymerisate der Erfindung verwendbar sind, umfassen hydraulische Flüssigkeiten,
Kraftübertragungsflüssigkeiten und Schmierfette. Während diese im allgemeinen aus Petroleum oder Mineralölen hergestellt sind, kommen
auch sogenannte synthetische Schmiermittel in Frage, wie ölige Ester^

Polyäther, Silikonflussigkeiten und dergleichen.
Im allgemeinen sollen die Schmiermittel etwa 0,1 bis 15 i eines oder
mehrerer Pfropfmischpolymerisate der Erfindung oder aolche Mischpolymerisate,
welche eines dieser Pfropf-Mischpolymerisate einschließen, enthalten. Die Pfropf-Mischpolymerisate der Erfindung
können z.B. den Ölen zugesetzt werden, um dispergierende Wirkung zu
verleihen und die Viskositätstemperaturkurve zu verbessern, während ein anderes Mischpolymerisat zugesetzt wird, um den Gießpunkt zu
erniedrigen.
■Ve-rtvoll sind die Produkte des Verfahrens der Erfindung auch als
Zusätze zu brennbaren Flüssigkeiten, wie Gasolin, Heizöl, Lösungsmitteln oder furboölen. Unter Heizölen versteht man Kohlenwasserstoffdestillate,
die manchmal als Kerosen bezeichnet werden, Ofenöle, drenneröle, Dieselöle und auch l'urboöle. l'urboöle umfassen Destillate
im Bereich der Heizöle und auch Gemische mit Destillaten, die als Gasoline zu bezeichnen sind. In Heizölen soll die Konzentration der
Mischpolymerisate der Erfindung im Bereich von 0,001 bis 0,1 'ß>
liegen.
Die Destillate können "straight-run" oder gekrackte Öle oder Gemische
sein. Bei ihrer lagerung und Handhabung entstehen Verfärbungen, Schlämme und Absetzungen, welche sich an Oberflächen, wie Sieben,
Düsen und anderen Gerätschaften zur Handhabung, Lagerung und Verwendung
dieser Öle niederschlagen. Die Mischpolymerisate der Erfindung können solche Störungen vermeiden oder mindestens erleichtern. Dies
wurde nach dem sogenannten "Panel Coker Test" oder dem "üities Service
'fest" ermittelt. Bei dem letzteren wird die Filtrierzeit eines Heizöles, welches mit 0,01 bis 0,05 1» eines Pfropf-Mischpolymerisats der
Erfindung behandelt wird und dünn bei 121 0 oxydiert wurde, erheblich
vermindert im Vergleich zu einem oxydierten Gegenmuster ohne den Zusatz.
Auch der "Sundatrand Pump Test" zeigt den V<ert der Verfahrens produkte.
In diesem Test behandelt man 1 Liter Destillat, welches 4 Gramm künstlichen Schlamm enthält, mit einer bestimmten Menge des Zusatz-

stoffes und läßt die Mischung dann durch eine Sundstrand-Ülbrennerpumpe
mit einem Sieb von 100 Maschen zirkulieren. Man sammelt und
wiegt den Schlamm, der sich dabei auf diesem Sieb absetzt (vgl. Nelson et al., Ind.Eng.Chem. 48, 1892 (1956)).
Ein Heizöl ohne Zusatz ergibt 210 mg Schlamm. Wird das Heizöl mit 0,01 io des Pfropf-Mischpolymerisats von Beispiel 2 behandelt, so
ergibt sich nur ein Schlammabsatz von 25 mg. Enthält das Heizöl 0,01 j* des Pfropf-Mischpolymerisats von Beispiel 10, so beträgt der
Schlamm 5 mg.
Wie bereits gesagt, sind die Pfropf-Mischpolymerisate der Erfindung
anwendbar in Kombination mit anderen Zusatzmitteln, wie Anti-Oxydantien, Stabilisatoren, Reinigungsmitteln für hohe Temperaturen,
anderen Dispergierungsmitteln für niedrige Temperaturen, anderen
Mitteln zur Verbesserung des Viskositätsindex, anderen Mitteln zur
Senkung des üleßpunkts, Zusatzstoffen für extreme Drucke, Mitteln
gegen Kreischen, Korrosionsschutzmitteln, anderen Mitteln gegen Abnutzungserscheinungen, schaummindernden Mitteln, Mitteln zur Herstellung
der Öligkeit und anderen Typen von Ölzusatzstoffen. Beispielsweise werden genannt 4»4'-*iethylenbis-2,6-di--tert-butylphenol,
Irialkylphenole, Tris(dimethylaminomethyl)phenol, Phenothiazin,
Zinkdialkyldithiophosphat, Bariumdialkyldithiophosphat, Niekeldialkyldithiophosphat,
Calcium-j-Strontium- oder Bariumpetroleumsulfonat
und Alkylnaphthalinsulfonat, Erdalkalialkylphenate, besonders Sulfonate und Phenate mit Überschuß von Oxyden der Erdalkalien,
carbonisierte basische Salze, Erdalkalisalicylate, normale und basische Aluminiumnaphthenate, Calciumphenylstearate, Erdalkalisalze
von Diphenol'sulfiden /Alkylphenol-Formaldehydkondensaten,
Tricresylphosphat, Ghloralkylphosphate und -phosphite, Silicone, Alkylphenol-Alkylenoxydkondensate, wie Octylphenoxyäthoxyäthoxyäthanol,

Die Apparatur besteht aus einem dreihalsigen Hundbodenkolben mit
Gaseinlaßrohr, Rückflußkühler, Zusatztrichter, Rührer und Thermometer.

Diisopropylbenzolhydroperoxyd in Alkohol und Keton, gibt etwa 30 %
dea Gemisches zusammen mit 0,3 '!eilen einer 25-prozentigen Lösung
Diisobutylphenoxyäthoxyäthyldimethylbenzylammoniumchloridmonohydrat in n-Hexylalkohol in den Kolben, spült mit Stickstoff aus, erhitzt
auf 1050G und hält diese Temperatur aufrecht. Die Reaktionszeit wird
von dem Zeitpunkt des Ürreichens der Temperatur von 1050G gerechnet.
Nach 20 Minuten setzt man innerhalb eines Zeitraumes von 100 Minuten den Rest des vorbereiteten Gemisches zu. Nach Ablauf dieser Zeit ist
das Gemisch zu etwa 70 '$> polymerisiert.
Nun stellt man ein Gemisch von 81 !eilen Äthylacrylat, 9 Teilen Maleinsäureanhydrid,
0,45 Teilen einer 50-prozentigen Lösung von Diisopropylbenzolhydroperoxyd und 0,09 Teilen einer 25-prozentigen
Lösung von Diisobutylphenoxyäthoxyäthyldimethylbenzylammoniumchloridmonohydrat in Hexanol her und setzt diese im Zeitraum von 2,25 bis
3,0 Stunden ab O-Zeit allmählich zu. Nach 3»67 Stunden setzt man
0,3 Teile einer 50-prozentigen Lösung von Diisopropylbenzolhydroperoxyd, 0,06 Teile einer 25-prozentigen Lösung des oben genannten
quaternären Ammoniumsalzes und 150 Teile weißes Mineralöl zu. Nach
5,0 Stunden und nach 5»67» 6,33 und 7»0 Stunden setzt man nochmals
je 0,45 Teile bzw. 0,09 Teile bzw. 15 Teile der oben genannten
Stoffe zu und fügt nach 7»5 Stunden nochmals etwa 200 Teile Neutralöl
100 ein.Dann erhitzt man das Reaktionsgemisch auf 135°0/5 mm Hg,
wobei 75 Teile flüchtige Bestandteile entfernt werden. Dann verdünnt man das Reaktionsgemisch mit 260 Teilen Neutralöl 100 und erhält
eine 30-prozentige Lösung des Mischpolymerisats mit einer Viskosität von 378 es. bei 2100G.
Ein aus diesem Konzentrat mit Neutralöl 170 3.TJ.3. hergestelltes
Gemisch (l /Ό Mischpolymerisat) hat bei 99°C eine Viskosität von
6,66 es. und bei 380C eine solche von 42,45 es., entsprechend einem
Viskositätsindex von 119. Das Neutralöl 170 selbst besitzt einen Viskositätsindex von 100.
Das Gemisch dispergiert leicht 0,2 $ Asphaltene bei 90°und bei
15O0C. Verdünnt zu 0,25 % Mischpolymerisat dispergiert es noch 0,2 £ -

Im Motorentest C.R.C. PL-2 ergibt 1 /» Mischpolymerisat zusammen mit
1 fo Zinkdialkyldithiophosphat in Öl einen Schlammwert von 61,0 und
einen Firniswert von 11,7» während mit Zinkalkyldithiophosphat allein nur die Werte 46,8 und 7,4 erreicht werden (optimaler Wert
in diesem 'fest ist 100).
Zum Vergleich wurde au3 den gleichen Monomeren in denselben Mengenverhältnissen
ein Mischpolymerisat hergestellt, wobei aber 90 Teile Cetyl-Stearylmethacrylat, 122,2 Teile Lauryl-Myriatylmethacrylat,
81 Teile Äthylacrylat, 9 Teile Maleinsäureanhydrid und 15 Teile weißes Mineralöl von Anfang an gemischt wurden, während man im
übrigen die gleichen Arbeitsbedingungen wie oben einhielt. Das ebenfalls auf eine Konzentration von 30 /£ in Öl hergestellte Mischpolymerisat
hatte eine Viskosität von 171 es. bei 21<0oC. Im Gemisch
mit Neutralöl 170 3.U.S. ergab dieses Mischpolymerisat eine Viskosität
von 6,74 es. bei 99°C und 41,86 es. bei 380C, entsprechend
dem tiskositätsindex von 124. 1 ?° des Produktes in Neutralöl 100 S.U.3.
erniedrigte den Gießpunkt von 15°C auf -29°C Während diese Eigenschaften
noch ganz günstig sind, mangelt dem Mischpolymerisat erheblich die dispergierende Wirkung. Selbst in einer Konzentration von
2 i" bei Temperaturen von 90 und 150 C vermag es nicht einmal
U,2 L/o Asphaltene zu dispergieren.
Beispiel 2
Man arbeitet mit der Apparatur von Beispiel 1. Die erste Mischung
besteht aus 90 Teilen Cetyl-Stearylmethacrylat, 122,2 Teilen Lauryl-Myrietylmethacrylat (98-prozentig), 15 Teilen weißem Mineralöl

und 1,5 Teilen einer 50-prozentigen Lösung von Diisopropylbenzolhydroperoxyd.
Man behandelt das Gemisch mit 0,3 Teilen einer 25-prozentigen Lösung der quaternären Ammoniumbase von Beispiel 1,
erhitzt auf etwa 1050O und hält diese Temperatur aufrecht. Nach
Ablauf von zwei Stunden sind etwa 73 ί> des Gemisches polymerisiert.
Nun setzt man ein Gemisch von 85,5 Teilen Äthylacrylat, 4,5 Teilen
Maleinsäureanhydrid, 0,45 Teilen einer 50-prozentigen Lösung von Diisopropylbenzolhydroperoxyd und 0,09 Teilen einer 25-prozentigen
Lösung des genannten quaternären Ammoniumsalzes zu. Mit fortschreitender Pfropf-Mischpolymerisation setzt man in gewissen Abständen
weitere Mengen Initiator und Aktivator bis zu einer Gesamtmenge von 4,05 bzw. 0,81 Teilen der betroffenen Lösungen zu. Außerdem setzt man
in der gleichen Aeise 45 Teile weißes Mineralöl und 265 Teile Neutral-Öl
100 zu. Nach sieben Stunden erhitzt man das Gemisch auf etwa 145 0/5mm Hg und erhält eine Lösung mit 42,4 ί>
Mischpolymerisat, deren Viskosität bei 990G 3,536 es. beträgt, während eine 30-prozentige
Lösung bei der gleichen Temperatur eine Viskosität von 700 es. aufweiet.
Verdünnt man die Lösung in Neutralöl 170 3.U.3. zu einer Konzentration
von 1 % Mischpolymerisat, so betragen die Viskositäten 6,73 es. bei
990C und 42,89 es. bei 380C, entsprechend einem Viskositätsindex
von 120.
In einer Konzentration von 0,125 't° in Öl dispergiert das Mischpolymerisat
leicht 0,2 # Asphaltene bei 90° und bei 15O0C. Eine Konzentration
von 0,25 fi dispergiert leicht 0,4 > Asphaltene bei 1500C.
In Neutralöl 100 3.U.S. erniedrigt das Mischpolymerisat den Gießpunkt
um 300C.
Ein entsprechendes Mischpolymerisat, bei dem aber die sämtlichen Monomeren von Anfang an zusammengemischt wurden, ergibt in 30-prozentiger
Lösung in öl die Viskosität 180 es. bei 99°C. In einer Konzentration
von 1 $ in Neutralöl 170 S-.U.S. betragen die Viskositäten
6,79 es. und 42,00 es. bei 99° bzw. 38°C, entsprechend einem _

Viskositätsindex von 125. In Neutralöl 100 3.U.S. erniedrigt dieses
Mschpolymere den Gießpunkt bis zu-37»2°C, dafür fehlt diesem Vergleichsprodukt
aber jede Fähigkeit zum Dispergieren von Asphaltene bei 90° oder 15O0O.
Man arbeitet nach Beispiel 2, ersetzt aber das Hydroperoxyd und den
Aktivator durch 0,75 Teile Azobisisobutyronitril im ersten Gemisch
und 0,3 Teile des gleichen Katalysators im zweiten Gemisch, und setzt danach in kleinen Portionen noch insgesamt 2 Teile dieses
Katalysators zu. Die Polymerisationstemperatur wird bei etwa 900G
gehalten. Man erhält als Endprodukt eine 30-prozentige Lösung des Mischpolymerisats in Öl mit einer Viskosität von 264 es. bei 99°O.

0,34 Teilen einer 50-prosentigen Lösung von Diisopropylbenzolhydroperoxyd

Hexanol zu. Die portionsweisen Zusätze von Initiator, Aktivator und
Öl sind dann 1,65 bzw. 0,33 bzw. 37»5 ieile. Nach 5 Stunden Polymerisation
von 105 bis HO0C hält man weitere 2,5 Stunden die Temperatur
auf IUO0C, strippt dann von flüchtigen Bestandteilen bei 1400O/

Man arbeitet gemäß Beispiel 7 mit einem Ausgangsgemisch von 90 Teilen
Cetyl-stearylmethacrylat, 120 Teilen Lauryl-myristylmethacrylat und
15 'feilen Styrol in Öl, das in Gegenwart von Cymolbydroperoxyd als
Initiator und Didodecenyldimethylammoniumchlorid als Aktivator bei

Nach der Methode des vorangegangenen Beispiels polymerisiert man ein
Gemisch von 153,5 Teilen Cetyl-stearylmethacrylat (97,8-prozentig), 84,4 Teilen Lauryl-myristylmethacrylat (97»7-prozentig), 25 Teilen
Methylmethacrylat, 15 Teilen weißes Mineralöl und 1,5 Teilen Diisopropylbenzolhydroperoxyd,
aktiviert mit 0,08 Teilen Isooctylcresoxyäthoxyäthyldimethylbenzylammoniumchlorid
in Hexanol bei 105 bis HO0C bis zu etwa 80 % Umsetzung, setzt dann langsam ein Gemisch aus
4,5 Teilen Maleinsäureanhydrid, 13 Teilen Laurylmethacrylat, 24,5 Teilen
Methylmethacrylat, 0,18 Teilen des obigen Initiators in 50-prozentiger Lösung und 0,02 Teilen der obigen quaternären Base in Hexanol
zu, setzt in Portionen 1,7 Teile Initiator, 0,33 Teile Aktivator und 38 Teile Öl nach, ermäßigt nach 5 Stunden die Temperatur auf etwa
1000C und hält sie 2,5 Stunden auf dieser Höhe. Dann wird das
Reaktionsgemisch bei 14O°O/5 mm Hg gestrippt, mit 520 Teilen Neutralöl

0,2 f» diapergiert das Mischpolymerisat 0,2 f» Asphaltene sowohl .bei
90° wie bei 1500G und. in einer Konzentration von 1 # bei 1500C
0,4 % Asphaltene. In einem Gemisch von 1 i» Mischpolymerisat in
Keutralcl 100 wird eine Gießpunktserniedrigung von 5»60C erzielt.
Zu Vergleichszwecken wird aus den gleichen Ausgangsstoffen in den gleichen Mengenverhältnissen und mit den gleichen Mengen von
Initiator und Aktivator, aber ohne die zeitliche Abstufung, ein kischpolymerisat hergestellt. Die dabei erhaltene Lösung von
4-5,6 j° Mischpolymerisat in öl besitzt bei 99°C eine Viakoaität
von 3213 es. Line 2-prozentige Lösung des Lüischpolymerisats in
Neutralöl 170 zeigt bei 99° und 380C die Viskositäten von 9,44 es.
bzw. 52,61 es., entsprechend einem Viakositätsindex 145. Um bei
320C Aaphaltene zu dispergieren, ist eine Konzentration von 2 %>
dieses Mischpolymerisats erforderlich. Der Gießpunkt einer einprozentigen Lösung in Keutralöl 100 liegt bei -320C.
iV;an erhitzt nach der Methode von Beispiel 9 ein Gemisch von 210 Teilen
Cetyl-stearylmethacrylat, 285 Teilen Lauryl-myristylmethacrylat,
90 Teilen Äthylacrylat , 35 Teilen Öl und 1,8 Xeilen Diisopropylbenzolhydroperoxyd
auf 1050C, setzt dann 0,2 Teile Diisobutylphenoxyäthoxyäthyldimethylbenzylammoniumchlorid
in Hexanol zu und nach 2,25 Stunden ist das Gemisch zu 72 $>
polymerisiert. Nun beginnt man mit dem Zusatz eines Gemisches von 92 Teilen Äthylacrylat, 14 Teilen
N-Vinyl-2-pyrrolidon, 14 Teilen Maleinsäureanhydrid, 1,05 Teilen
einer 50-prozentigen Lösung von Diiaopropylbenzolhydroperoxyd und 0,2 Teilen einer 25-prozentigen Lösung der obigen quaternären Base.

Im Motorentest CRC Abstand PIr-2 ergibt dieses Mischpolymerisat einen
Schlammwert von 65,5 und einen Jfirniswert von 12,6, insgesamt 78,1.
Der Gesamtwert für das 01 ohne Mischpolymerisat aber mit 1 i>
Zinkdialkyldithiophosphat ist 54,2.
Nach der Methode von Beispiel 10 polymerisiert man ein Gemisch von
120 Teilen Vinylstearat, 20 Teilen Vinylacetat, 8 Teilen einer 50-prozentigen Lösung von Diisopropylbenzolhydroperoxyd und 2 Teilen
einer 25-prozentigen Lösung des quaternären Ammoniumsalzes von Beispiel 10 2,25 Stunden lang bei 1050C, bis etwa 60 i» polymerisiert
sind. Dann setzt man portionsweise ein Gemisch von 6 Teilen Maleinsäureanhydrid,

'Toluol und 0,7 Teilen Azobisisobutyronitril. jütwa 30 /» den Gemisches
bringt man in ein mit Stickstoff gefülltes iteaktionsgefäß und erhitzt
auf einem Ölbad. Zeitzählung vom Augenblick des Temperaturanstiegs
tiuf 850C. Kurz nach diesem Zeitpunkt verursacht die i'olymerisationswärnie
einen Temperaturanstieg von etwa 20 0. Danach hält man jedoch das polymerisierende Gemisch auf etwa 85°0. Nach etwa 20 Minuten wird
das Gleichgewicht des Gemisches allmählich verändert. Nach 2 .Stunden
sind ungefähr 75 fr des Gemisches auspolymerisiert. Nach 2,25 Ütunden
beginnt man mit dem Zusatz eines Gemisches aus 25 Heilen j'itbylacrylat,
2 Teilen !Maleinsäureanhydrid, 5 'Teilen Toluol und 0,3 !'eilen Azobisisobutyronitril.
Innerhalb einer Stunde ist dieser Zusatz beendet. Nach 3167 stunden setzt man eine Lösung von 0,2 Teilen azobisisobutyronitril
in 5 Teilen Toluol zu und innerhalb der nächsten 3 Gtunden
gibt man viermal 0,3 Teile des Katalysators in 5 Teilen Toluol zu.
Nach 7,67 stunden wird die Heizung abgestellt und das Gemisch mit
50 Teilen Toluol verdünnt. Nun enthält die lösung 47,9 fr Pfropf-Mschpolymerisat.

In einer Konzentration von 0,5 % dispergiert das Mischpolymerisat
leicht 0,4 f° Asphaltene bei 1500C. Eine einprozentige Mischung in
Neutralöl 170 hat bei 99° bzw. 380C die Viskositäten 6,12 bzw. 38,5 es,
entsprechend einem Viekositätsindex 114. iiin Gemisch von 1 "f° in
Neutralöl 100 ergibt eine Gießpunktserniedrigung von 7,40C.
Man polymerisiert 2 Stunden lang bei 105° bis 1180C ein Gemisch von

10 Teilen Laurylmethacrylat, 40 Teilen ätearylinethacrylat, 1?? Teilen
Di(laurylmyriatyl)fumarat und 0,588 feilen tert-Butylperbenzoat
(85 fo) mit 45 Teilen Toluol, setzt allmählich eine Lösung von 3 Teilen
Maleinsäureanhydrid und 0,18 Teilen des genannten Perbenzoats in 35 'Teilen iithylacrylat zu, und setzt bei fortschreitender Polymerisation
in vier Portionen Initiator und 'Toluol in einer Gesantuende
von U,66 Teilen Initiator und 60 Teilen 'Toluol nach. Nach 7,5 Stunden
stellt man die Heizung ab und erhält eine 44,1-prozentige Lösung des Pfropf-Mischpolymerisats. Bei einer 30-prozentigen Lösung in
Toluol beträgt die Viskosität bei 38°C 1349 es. In einer Konzentration
von 0,125 f* dispergiert. das Mischpolymerisat Asphaltene leicht bei
90° und 1500C.
Man stellt eine Öllösung des Lischpolymerisats her, indem man 182 Teile
der 44-prozentigen Reaktionslösung mit 150 Teilen Neutralöl 100
3.U.8. rührt, auf 13C C/5 mm Hg erhitzt und diese Temperatur eine
Jtunde lang hält. Die gestrippte Probe wird mit weiteren 14,2 Teilen
Neutralöl 100 S.U.3. verdünnt, so daß schließlich ein 30-prozentiges
Konzentrat entsteht.
In einer ö,0625-prozentigen Lösung in Neutralöl 170 dispergiert das
iiüischpolymerisat bei 9O0C 0,2 ,Ό Asphaltene.
Stellt man in einer einzigen Polymerisationsphase ein entsprechendes
übliches Mischpolymerisat aus den gleichen üonomeren in den gleichen
ir.engenverhäitnissen her, so erhält man ein .Mischpolymerisat, das erst
in einer Konzentration von mindestens 2 % überhaupt eine Dispergierung
von asphaltenen in Clen erkennen läßt.
Lan mischt 30 Teile Stearylmethacrylat, 40 Teile Laurylmethacrylat,
5 Teile weißes Mineralöl und 0,5 Teile einer 50-prozentigen Lösung
von Diisopropylbenzolhydroperoxyd, erhitzt einen Teil des Gemisches auf 1050C, behandelt mit 0,1 Teilen einer 30-prozentigen Lösung von
Diisobutylphenoxyäthoxyäthyldimethylbenzylamraoniumchlorid und setzt

zu lassen. Nach der Methode τοη Beispiel 1 setzt man weitere Mengen
Initiator, Aktivator und Öl nach. Man erhält eine 3&-prozentige
lösung des Pfropf-Mischpolymerisats in Öl mit einer Viskosität von
98 es. bei 99°C
Innerhalb von 2 Stunden bringt man in die Apparatur von Beispiel 1
ein Gemisch von 153»2 Teilen Cetyl-stearylmethacrylat, 96,7 Teilen
Lauryl-myristylmethacrylat, 15 Teilen weißes Mineralöl und 1,5 Teilen einer 50-prozentigen Lösung von Diisopropylbenzolhydroperoxyd in
Alkohol und Keton (handelsüblich). Als Aktivator gibt man diesem monomeren Gemisch 0,3 Teile einer 25-prozentJgen Lösung von Diisobutylphenoxyäthoxyäthyldimethylbenzylammoniumchloridmonohydrat
in n-Hexanol zu. Man hält die Temperatur des Gemisches während der ganzen
Beheizung auf 110 G und läßt laufend während der ganzen Polymerisation Stickstoff durch das Reaktionsgefäß strömen. 15 Minuten nachdem
das obige katalysierte Monomerengemisch in das Reaktionsgefäß gebracht
wurde, setzt man innerhalb von 45 Minuten ein zweites Gemisch zu, welches aus 45 Teilen Methylmethacrylat, 10,2 Teilen Itaconsäureanhydrid,
0,34 Teilen einer 50-prozentigen Lösung von Diisopropylbenzolhydroperoxyd und 0,07 Teilen einer 25-prozentigen Lösung von
DiiBObutylphenoxyäthoxyäthyldimethylbenzylammoniumchloridmonohydrat besteht. 40 Minuten nach Beendigung des Zusatzes dieses katalysierten
und aktivierten Monomerengemisches setzt man 0,6 Teile 50-prozentige
Lösung des Hydroperoxyds und 0,12 Teile 25-prozentige Lösung des quaternären Ammoniumchlorids zusammen mit 7,5 Teilen weißem Mineralöl
nach. Weitere Portionen von Peroxydlösung, quaternärer Ammoniumsalzlösung
und Mineralöl bis zu einer Gesamtmenge von 1,5 bzw. 0,21 bzw. 22,5 Teilen werden nach 5» 5»67 und 6,33 Stunden zugesetzt. Nach ·
7 Stunden Bteilt man den inerten Gasstrom ab, setzt 400 Teile Neutralöl
100 S.U.S. zu und erhitzt eine Stunde lang unter einem verminderten
Druck von 5 mm Hg auf 14'00C. Man erhält eine 38,5-prozentige Lösung
von Pfropf-Mischpolymerisat in öl, die bei 990C eine Viskosität von
360,2 es. hat. Eine 2-prozentige Lösung des Mischpolymeren in Neutralöl 170 S.U.S. besitzt einen Viskositätsindex von 126.

Beispiel 15
Nach der gleichen allgemeinen Methode beginnt man mit einem Gemisch
von 150,8 Teilen Oetyl-stearylmethacrylat, 84,4 Teilen (97,7 #)
Lauryl-myristylmethacrylat und 1,5 Teilen einer 50-prozentigen Lösung von Diiaopropylbenzolhydroperoxyd, aktiviert mit dem quaternären Salz
von Beispiel 14t polymerisiert bis zu etwa 80 β aus und setzt dann
innerhalb ungefähr einer Stunde eine Lösung von 30 Teilen Methylacrylat,
7f67 Teilen Lauryl-myristylmethacrylat (97»7-prozentig),
30 Teilen Maleinsäureanhydrid, 40 Teilen Methylethylketon, 0,07 Teilen
der gleichen quaternären Salzlösung und 0,34 Teilen einer 50-prozentigen Lösung von Diisopropylbenzolhydroperoxyd zu. Im lauf der
Polymerisation gibt man portionsweise insgesamt 400 Teile öl, 2,1 Teil< Initiatorlösung und 0,07 Teile Aktivatorlösung zu. Man führt bei etwa
1050C die Polymerisation 7,5 Stunden lang fort, dann strippt man das
Reaktionsgemisch durch Erhitzen auf 14O°C/5 mm Hg, stellt mit Öl auf
eine Konzentration von 30 '/<>
ein und diese Lösung hat bei 99°G eine Viskosität von 192,6 es. Das Mischpolymerisat dispergiert Asphaltene
in Öl leicht bei 9O0C und 15O0C.
Man wiederholt das obige Verfahren mit 50 Teilen Cetyl-stearylmethacrylat,
30 Teilen Lauryl-myristylmethacrylat, 10 Teilen Methylmethacrylat
und 10 Teilen Maleinsäureanhydrid. Man isoliert das Mischpolymerisat durch Ausfällung und ermittelt einen Maleinsäuregehalt
von 7,98 $> durch Analyse. Eine 30-prozentige Lösung dieses
Mischpolymerisats in öl besitzt bei 99°C eine Viskosität von 227 es.
In 2-prozentiger Konzentration in Öl 170 S.U.S. ergeben sich Viskositäten
von 7,64 und 49,66 es. bei 99° bzw. 38°C, entsprechend einem
Viakositätsindex 124. 1 # des Mischpolymerisats erniedrigt den Gieß-

punkt von Neutralöl 100 von +150C auf -260C. In einer Konzentration
von 2 i» dispergiert das Mischpolymerisat Asphaltene in öl bei 90°
und 15O0C.
In der Apparatur des Beispiels 15 stellt man ein Grundpolymerisat her
aus 90 Teilen Cetyl-stearylmethacrylat, 126 Teilen Isodecylmethacrylat,
15 Teilen Mineralöl, 1,5 Teilen Diisopropylbenzolhydroperoxyd (50-prozentig)
in Alkohol und Keton, nach der Methode und mit dem Initiator und Aktivator von Beispiel 1. Nach 2,25 bis 3 Stunden setzt man ein
Gemisch von 75 Teilen Äthylacrylat, 9 Teilen Maleinsäureanhydrid, 0,42 Teilen der obigen Hydroperoxydlösung und 0,08 Teilen einer
25-prozentigen Lösung von Diisobutylphenoxyäthoxyäthyldimethylbenzylammoniumchloridmonohydrat
in n-Hexanol zu. Im weiteren Portgang der Polymerisation setzt man in Portionen Hydroperoxydlösung, quaternäre
Ammoniumsalzlösung und Mineralöl bis zur Gesamtmenge von 2,1 bzw. 0,42 bzw. 75 Teilen nach. Nach einer Gesamtbeheizung von 7,5 Stunden
strippt man das Gemisch eine Stunde lang bei 135°C/5 mm Hg zur Entfernung
der flüchtigen Bestandteile und verdünnt mit 510 Teilen Neutralöl 100 S.U.S. zu einem Konzentrat von 30 # Mischpolymerisat.
Dieses Konzentrat hat bei 990C eine Viskosität von 432 es.
Eine 1-prozentige Lösung in Neutralöl 170 S.U.S. hat bei 99°0 und
380C die Viskositäten von 6,94 bzw. 44,51 es., entsprechend einem
Viskositätsindex 121. Das Pfropf-Mischpolymerisat dispergiert in
einer Konzentration von 0,125 1> bei 900C 0f2 # Asphaltene. Ein Susatz
von 1 $> zu Öl 100 S.U,S. erniedrigt den Gießpunkt von -150C auf -430C.
Man beschickt das Polymerisationsgefäß innerhalb 2 Stunden mit einem
Monomerengemisch aus 35 Teilen Laurylacrylat, inhibiert mit 100 ppm.
Hydrochinonmonomethyläther, 25 Teilen Toluol, und 1 Teil einer 50-proeentigen Lösung von Diisopropylbenzolhydroperoxyd in Alkohol uni
Keton und setzt dann 0,2 Teile einer 25-prozentigen Lösung des

quaternären AmmoniumsalzeB von Beispiel 16 in n-Hexanol als Aktivator
zu.
Nach 2,25 his 3 Stunden setzt man das zweite monomere Gemisch aus
13» 5 Teilen Äthylacrylat, inhibiert mit 200 ppm. Hydrochinonmonomethylather,
1,5 Teilen Maleinsäureanhydrid, 0,3 Teilen 50-prozentiger Lösung des obigen Initiators und 0,06 Teilen des obigen Aktivators zu.
40 Minuten nachdem die Gesamtmenge des zweiten monomeren Gemisches in
das Polymerisationsgefäß eingebracht ist, beginnt man mit dem portionsweisen
Nachsetzen von Hydroperoxyd, quaternärem Salz und Toluol bis zu einer Gesamtmenge von 1,4 bzw. 0,28 bzw. 26,1 Gewichtsteilen. Während
der ganzen Mischpolymerisation hält man das Gemisch auf 104° bis 1060C.
Nach 8 Stunden stellt man die Heizung ab. Gemäß Analyse enthält das Reaktionsgemisch 46»2 f» Mischpolymerisat. Eine auf eine Konzentration
von 30 fi eingestellte Lösung in Toluol besitzt bei 380C. eine Viskosität
von 19f5 os.
Man versetzt 73 Teile der 46,2-prozentigen toluolischen .Lösung des
Pfropf-Mischpolymerisats mit 30 Teilen Neutralöl 100 S.U.S., rührt
und erhitzt eine Stunde lang auf 13O°C/5 mm Hg zur Entfernung der flüchtigen Bestandteile. Man verdünnt das erhaltene Konzentrat mit
54,7 Teilen Neutralöl 100 S.U.S. und erhält eine Öllösung mit 30 1°
Mischpolymerisat.
In einer Konzentration von 0,0625 # in öl dispergiert dieses Mischpolymerisat
bei 900C 0,2 # Asphaltene.
Man beschickt innerhalb 2 Stunden einen Rundbodenkolben gemäß Beispiel 11 mit einem Gemisch aus 40 Teilen Cetyl-stearylmethacrylat,
10 Teilen Lauryl-myristylmethacrylat, 12 Teilen Di-n-butyÜtaconat,
0,588 Teilen tert-Butylperbenzoat (85-prozentig in Xylol) und 10 Teilen
Toluol, hält die Temperatur auf .107° bis 1100C, setzt nach 2,25
bis 3 Stunden innerhalb von 45 Minuten ein Gemisch von 35 Teilen

Äthylacrylat, inhibiert rait 200 ppm. Hydrochinonmonomethylather,
3 Teilen Maleinsäureanhydrid, 0,10 Teilen tert-Butylperbenzoat (85-prozentig
in Xylol) und 17,4 Teilen Toluol zu. Sobald dieser Zusatz beendet ist, fügt man weitere 17,4 Teile Toluol zu. Ab 40 Minuten
nach Vollendung des zweiten Zusatzes setzt man in Portionen Perbenzoatlösung
und Toluol bis zu einer Gesamtmenge von 0,84 bzw. . 78,3 Teilen zu. Das Reaktionsprodukt beträgt 238,9 Teile einer Lösung,
welche gemäß Analyse 36»9 f° Pfropf-Mischpolymerisat enthält. Die
30-prozentige toluolische Lösung hat bei 99 G eine Viskosität von 1600 es.
In eine Stripp-Flasche bringt man 161,5 Teile der 36,9-prozentigen
Mischpolymerisatlösung zusammen mit 100 Teilen Mineralöl, rührt und
erhitzt eine Stunde lang auf 13O°C/5 mm Hg zur Entfernung der flüchtigen
Bestandteile. Durch einen Zusatz von 132,5 Teilen Mineralöl stellt man die Konzentration des Mischpolymerisats auf 20 f» ein. Dieses
Konzentrat gestattet eine bequeme Handhabung des Mischpolymerisats bei der Herstellung von Gemischen mit Schmierölen, synthetischen
jchmiermitteln, hydraulischen Flüssigkeiten, Treibstoffölen und
Gasolinen.
In einer Konzentration von 0,0625 % in Keutralöl 100 S.U.S. dispergiert
das Mischpolymerisat bei 90 G 0,2 # Asphaltene.
Die Apparatur von Beispiel 1 wird zunächst nach der Methode von Beispiel 1 mit 90 Teilen Cetyl-stearylmethacrylat, 122 Teilen Lauryl-r
myrietylmethacrylat, 41 Teilen Äthylacrylat und 15 Teilen weißem
Mineralöl beschickt und man verfährt nach Beispiel 1. Nach 2 Stunden versetzt man das polymerisierende Gemisch mit 9 Teilen iaaleinsäureanhydrid
und spült den Zugabetrichter mit 40 Teilen Äthylacrylat, welches 0,3 Teile 50-prozentiges Diisopropylbenzolhydroperoxyd und
0,06 Teile einer 25-prozentigen Lösung des quaternären Ammoniumsalzes enthält. Nun setzt man noch 150 Teile weißes Mineralöl zu, polymerisiert
gemäß Beispiel 1 aus, strippt eine Gtunde lang das Gemisch bei 13O°C/5 mm Hg und stellt mit 232 Teilen Keutralöl 100 auf eine

30—prozentige Lösung des Pfropf-Mischpolymerisats ein, welche bei
99°C eine Viskosität von 426,1 es. aufweist. Die dispergierende
Wirkung des Produktes ist ungewöhnlich hoch. In einer Konzentration
von 0,0625 ,J in Neutralöl 100 dispergiert es bei 900G 0,2 f. Asphalt
ene.

J£an arbeitet mit den gleichen Stoffen und Mengenverhältnissen nach
der Methode von Beispiel 1, setzt aber zur verzögerten ifropfirolymerisation
während 2,25 bis 3 Stunden zwei konomerenlösungen zu. Die eine Lösung besteht aus 81,0 Teilen Äthylacrylat, 0,45 Teilen
50-prozentiger handelsüblicher Lösung von Jjiisopropylbenzolhydroperoxyd
und 0,09 Teilen einer 25-prozentigen Lösung des quaternären Ammoniumsalzes von Beispiel 19· Lie zweite Lösung besteht aus
9 Teilen Maleinsäureanhydrid in 10 Teilen Methyläthylketon. Man rührt
das Gemisch und erhitzt eine Stunde lang auf 130°C/5 mm Hg. Man
erhält 573 Teile Reaktionsprodukt, welches durch Zugabe von 327 Teilen Heutralöl 100 S.u.S. zu einer 30-prozentigen Lösung von Pfropf-Mischpolymerisat
in Öl eingestellt wird.
Das Konzentrat hat bei 990G die Viskosität 208,7 es.
In einer Konzentration von 0,625 # in Öl dispergiert das Pfropf-Mischpolymerisat
bei 15O0C 0,2 $>
Asphaltene.

Claims (6)
1. Verfahren zur Herstellung von öllöslichen diapergierenden Pfropf-Mischpolymerisaten
auf Basis von Alkylestern olefinisch ungesättigter Säuren oder Vinyleatern von Alkanonsäuren und Itacon-
oder Maleinsäureanhydrid unter Anwendung von freie Radikale bildenden Initiatoren, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man zunächst aus
mindestens einem monoäthylenisch ungesättigten üster aus der Gruppe
der Älkylester von Acrylsäure, Methacrylsäure, Itaconsäure oder iYunarsäure und der Vinylester von Alkanonsäure, deren durchschnittliche
Größe der Alkylgruppen zum Löslichmachen In Kohlenwasserstofföl
ausreicht, und mindestens B Kohlenstoffatome enthält, ein Grundpolymerisat mit einer Umsetzung von etwa 50 bis 90 # der
monomeren herstellt, das entstandene Gemisch aus Monomeren und Polymerisat mit Itaconsäure-oder Maleinsäureanhydrid in einer
kenge von 1 bis 10 $, berechnet auf Gewicht der angewendeten
Monomeren, vermischt und dieses Gemisch auspolymerisiert.
2. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß als Initiator ein Hydroperoxyd und ein quaternäres Ammoniuasals angewendet
werden.
3. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß in der
ersten otufe des Verfahrens ein Gemisch mehrerer monoäthylenisch
ungesättigter, zur Polymerisation befähigter Monomerer angewendet wird, von denen mindestens eines ein Alkylester der Acryl-,
toethaeryl-, Itacon- oder Fumarsäure oder ein Vinylester einer
Alkanonsäure ist, dessen Alkylgruppen eine ausreichende durchschnittliche Größe von mindestens θ Kohlenstoffatomen besitzen,
um dem Pfropf-Mischpolymerisat die Löslichkeit in Kohlenwasserstoff öl zu verleihen, während in einem kleineren Mengenanteil mindestens
eine andere zur Polymerisation befähigte Monovinylidenverbindung
anwesend ist.
4. Verfahren nach Anspruch 3» dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Polymerisation
der ersten ritufe bis zu einer Umsetzung von 50 bis 90 Ί·

getrieben, das erhaltene Reaktionsgeniisc}. mit 1 bis 5 £ Itaconsäure-
oder Maleinsäureanhydrid, berechnet auf d \s Gewicht der Monomeren, versetzt und dieses Gemisch auspolymerisiert wird.
5. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1 bis 4» dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das
Grundpolymerisat in einem Alkylacrylat gelöst wird, dessen
Alkoholrest 1 bis 4 Kohlenstoffatome enthält.
6. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1 bis 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß zunächst mindestens ein Alkylmethacrylat, dessen Alkylrest dem
Endprodukt Löslichkeit in Kohlenwasserstoffölen verleiht, zu 50 bis 90 fo polymerisiert, das entstandene Gemisch von Polymerisat
und Monomeren mit Maleinsäureanhydrid in einer luenge von
1 bis 5 /£» berechnet auf Mo nomer engewicht, vermischt und nunmehr
zum Pfropf-Mischpolymerisat auspolymerisiert.
7· Verfahren nach Anspruch 1 bis 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß
das Grundpolymerisat aus Alkylmethacrylaten mit 12 bis 18 Kohlenstoffatomen
in den Alkylgruppen gebildet wird, während gegebenenfalls eine kleinere Menge mindestens eines Methacrylate anwesend
ist, welches im Alkylrest 1 bis 8, vorzugsweise 1 bis 4 Kohlenstoff atome enthält.
