Description
KAISERLICHESIMPERIAL
PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
According to the patent specification 105632 p-Amidodinitrodiphenylamin, obtained by the action of ο p-dinitrochlorobenzene on p-phenylenediamine, when fused with sulfur and sulfur sodium lead to the same black sulfur dye as trinitrodiphenylamine, which can be obtained by the action of ο · p-dinitrochlorobenzene on aniline and further nitration.
In contrast to this, it has been found that p-amidodinitrodiphenylamine is by no means equivalent to trinitrodiphenylamine and can be used in a sulfur melt for the latter while achieving the same results. While it is supposed to lead to a black like the trinitrodiphenylamine, p-amidodinitrodiphenylamine gives an olive under the conditions of that patent specification, but very valuable dark blue to black dyes if the sulfur melt is carried out under conditions significantly different from those of patent specification 105632. Under the working conditions of the example below, if the sulfur melt is carried out in the presence of a diluent (not mentioned in patent specification 105632) and above all while maintaining low temperatures, a dark blue at 160 ° is obtained from p-amidodinitrodiphenylamine
to greenish black.

All of these dyes are fundamentally different from the dye of patent 105632.
The value of p-amidodinitrodiphenylamine was not recognized in that patent. The reasons for this are probably the similarity that the olive from p-amidodinitrodiphenylamine has with the dye obtained from trinitrodiphenylamine at temperatures up to 240 ° shows on cursory examination. Both dyes show similar solution color in water and, when isolated by acids, are insoluble in cold, concentrated sulfuric acid. The process as such allows the melt to take place for 2 hours at 220 to 240 ° im Oven must be kept, not even the distinction of the dye transfers indicated above and therefore leaves the deviating Behavior of p-amidodinitrodiphenylamine from trinitrodiphenylamine in the sulfur melt not recognizable at first glance.
Otherwise you will not always get consistent results, not always the valuable ones blue and black dye, but often poorly soluble and poorly colored products. It became the most beneficial for obtaining consistently good results for the melt found to carry them out in such a way that one swiftly removed the excess water Evaporation prevents respectively. repeatedly replacing the evaporated water, d. H. the melt for a fuller implementation of the p-amidodinitrodiphenylamine longer tent well stirable and
flüssig erhält und beim Trockenwerdenlassen der Schmelze nicht zu hohe Temperaturen verwendet. liquid and not used too high temperatures when drying the melt.
Durch einen geringen Zusatz von Glyzerin, etwa γ3 des Gewichtes vom angewendeten p-Amidodinitrodiphenylamin zu der mit Wasser angesetzten Schmelze, werden die besonderen Vorsichtsmaßregeln bei der Ausführung der Schmelze teilweise überflüssig gemacht, weilBy adding a small amount of glycerine, about γ 3 of the weight of the p-amidodinitrodiphenylamine used to the melt made up with water, the special precautionary measures when carrying out the melt are in some cases made superfluous because
Die so erhaltenen Schmelzen lösen sich unter Zusatz von Schwefelalkalien vollständig klar.ίο the glycerine slows down the evaporation of the water considerably. The addition of glycerine also gave even more uniform results in the conversion of p-amidodinitrodiphenylamine. A homogeneous melt is obtained which is heated openly for several hours at 130 to 150 ° without the subsequent addition of water and which, on further processing, allows the various dye transitions from blue to black and olive to be recognized and grasped. An abnormal course of the melt, as well as an unintended transition from blue to black respectively. Olive, as it sometimes occurs in the melt, which is carried out without the addition of glycerine, is almost impossible here. What is particularly important is that constant results are always obtained with full utilization of the insoluble p-amidodinitrodiphenylamine. The melts obtained in this way dissolve completely to give a clear solution when alkaline sulfur is added.
In the present case, special attention is paid to the representation of the dark blue to black Dyes are important. It is the small temperature differences that they compensate for Let melts develop. If it is also according to the above information in smaller experiments If it is possible to record the individual dye phases, this is on the whole right difficult, especially in the absence of glycerin. Samples are taken from the melt and separated from them by diluted ones Acids remove the dyes, so they leave when they dissolve in cold concentrated sulfuric acid also clearly recognize the individual dye phases. The dark blue dye dissolves the easiest, the green-black one the heaviest with a reddish-blue to blue and dull green-blue color; upon addition of water this solution gives a violet-blue to pure blue and pale blue coloration and blue precipitation. The olive green dye is insoluble in cold, concentrated sulfuric acid. In lighter colors, the dyes can be addressed as dark blue, while in deeper shades they are blue-black color to black.
The present method thus differs through the use of diluents and by taking into account the temperatures completely from the method of the patent specification 105632. It is also used by the appearance of the dark blue and black dyes a · technical progress achieved. The dyes dye cotton in the alkaline sulfur and saline baths cold or at the boil. The blue colorations become more genuine by post-treatment with bichromate. the black and blue ones, fuller due to a mixture of dichromate and vitriol. the Post-treated dyeings, especially black, meet all requirements Fastness to acids, alkalis and light. Black as such is without itself Post-treatment already sufficiently real. The dyes equalize well, you can do without Color the exclusion of air without bronzing, and it's already the first puff, especially with Black, enough.
The dye of patent specification 105632 does not have these good properties.
The following examples, which can of course be changed within certain limits, are explained the method of the present invention:
Die Schmelze verdickt sich und nach einiger Zeit sinkt die Temperatur zurück unter 1500.Example: 36 parts of p-amidodinitrodiphenylamine are introduced into a solution of 180 parts of crystallized sodium sulfur, 60 parts of sulfur, 60 parts of water and 15 parts of glycerol at 90 to 100 ° and slowly heated to 150 to 160 ° in an oil bath. After evaporation of the water, the melt holding about 2 hours at 130 to 150 0 liquid, and is well verrührbar. The reaction product, which is initially deposited in thick lumps, gradually dissolves again. At about 150 0 with the evolution of ammonia raising the temperature to about I6O ° occurs. The melt thickens and after a while the temperature drops back below 150 ° .
Dark blue to black blue. To illustrate the dark blue dye, the temperature of the oil bath, which was previously maintained at 150 to I6O °, raised to 170 0 and covered the melt. The internal temperature of the melt rises slowly; as soon as it is continuously 160 to 165 °, the heating is interrupted. The melt solidifies after cooling and is used in this form. In cold water it dissolves with a black-blue color; when sodium sulphide is added, it turns purple and reduced. Isolated by acids, the dye forms a blue-black powder, which dissolves easily in cold, concentrated sulfuric acid with a reddish-blue color; the addition of water gives a violet-blue color and a blue precipitate. Cotton is dyed dark blue in baths containing soda and sodium sulphide. The coloration becomes more real after treatment with bichromate.
Schwarz. If the above melt is not interrupted at 160 to 165 °, but continues
