Den Gegenstand vorliegender Erfindung bildet ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von Stereotypmatrizen, welches sich im Wesentlichen dadurch kennzeichnet, dafs Platten aus Metall oder einem anderen, geeigneten Material mit Vertiefungen von passender Form versehen werden, welche als Träger für eine plastische Masse dienen, in welche mit Hülfe von entsprechend hergestellten Schreibmaschinen oder anderen geeigneten Maschinen die Typen eingeprefst werden. Um dabei einer derartigen Matrizenplatte während des Einprägens eine sichere Führung zu geben, wird dieselbe zweckmäfsig mit Riefen versehen, in welche entsprechende Ringe, die an den Matrizenunterlagen der betreffenden Prägevorrichtung angebracht sind, eingreifen. Um das Anschmiegen der Platte zu ermöglichen, werden noch Längsriefen b c (Fig. 3) angebracht, welche aber entbehrlich sind, wenn die Platte selbst genügend schmiegsam ist. Die Vertiefungen, in welche die plastische Masse eingebracht wird, sind vortheilhaft etwas verjüngt, wie sich aus der Ausführungsform, welche in Fig. 3 dargestellt ist, ergiebt.
