Description
KAISERLICHESIMPERIAL
PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
The new invention forms a method, to textile materials, namely Fabric fabrics to be dyed and stiffened in a single operation.
In order to achieve this end one proceeds in such a way that one follows a known one The process first prepares a finish by boiling starch with caustic soda, which is a thick mass of syrupy consistency. To this mass you sit a suitable dye, namely basic dyes. In addition, a precipitate is added, such as lime or acetic acid Iron, added, which is suitable for the color. fabric when applying the mass to the fiber to fixate on this. However, in order to keep the dye in solution in the mass itself a suitable acid is also added and is preferably selected from below Reasons used acetic acid.
Bei Bereitung der Farbappretur verfährt man vorzugsweise folgendermafsen:When preparing the color finish, it is preferable to proceed as follows:
With 100 parts of water, which can be used cold, two separate mixtures are prepared, one with 10 parts of starch, the other with 1/2 part of caustic soda. These mixtures are then combined together to form a whitish paste. This is cooked until a clear, brown, chewy syrup is obtained. Since the starch solution tends to burn too easily due to too long boiling under normal conditions, the boiling is carried out in a closed kettle with the use of pressurized steam, which is fed through suitable pipes or a steam jacket. A corresponding amount of color is added to the syrup so prepared, and since direct color does not adhere firmly enough, basic color is preferred. Basic dyes usually require a tannin and antimony or iron stain; in the present process, however, the dyes can be fixed to the textile materials without tannin. In order to keep the dye in solution, a suitable amount of acetic acid corresponding to the desired shade is added. Finally, a sufficient quantity of a suitable pleating body, for example iron acetate, lime acetate or calcium chloride, is added to precipitate the dye during the drying operation, the free acetic acid evaporating and the basic dye being firmly fixed on the fiber.
The addition of acetic acid only creates a milky precipitate in the color finish; the starch, chemically converted by boiling with caustic soda, loses none of it through the addition of acetic acid their properties, which make them suitable for finishing.
Some basic dyes are deposited in varying ratios by a number of salts, and as their precipitates, for example those produced by common salt, are soluble in ässer W 7, they are not useful to the present process.
Andere Niederschläge von basischen Farbstoffen sind in Schwefelsäure oder SalzsäureOther precipitates of basic dyes are in sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid
löslich, aber da diese Säuren auf die Faser zerstörend einwirken, da ferner ein Theil derselben, wie die Schwefelsäure, nicht verdampft, so sind genannte Säuren bei vorliegendem Verfahren ebenfalls nicht zu gebrauchen.soluble, but since these acids have a destructive effect on the fiber, since furthermore a part of it, like sulfuric acid, not evaporated, so are so-called acids in the present process also not to be used.
A number of basic dyes are preferably used as the precipitating body iron acetic acid, lime acetic acid or calcium chloride, which is made up of the dye and the precipitates formed in the precipitating body are soluble in an excess of acetic acid; this excess is evaporated during the drying operation, and it remains an in pure water and soap insoluble precipitate on the fiber.
In the case of the use of calcium chloride, it should also be noted that after the union with certain dyes its power of absorbing moisture is annulled, so that there is no need to fear that the finished and colored fabrics will remain or become damp is. From the series of basic dyes, the following can be used with advantage: naphtindone, methylindone, Indoin, bengaline, indole blue, garnet red, bismarck brown, chrysoid, auramine and emerald green. They can be used alone or in any combination, depending on the desired shade be applied.
Because a lack of good, black, basic Dyes are present so can be a good substitute for such by mixing them 4 parts of naphthene and one part each of Bismarck brown, chrysoid and emerald green can be obtained. You can change the color tone by changing the mixing ratio also vary here.
Since every person carrying out the work has to adapt the color finish to the particular application, would take it too far, all proportions and all additions that can be used, to list here; however, the following is an example of how to achieve a black finish listed, on the basis of which one is able to produce other such color finishes: 50 parts of starch syrup, prepared in the manner described, are mixed with 50 parts Acetic acid, 50 parts calcium chloride (5 per cent. Solution), 0.750 parts naphtindone, 0.375 parts Bismarck brown, 0.375 part chrysoidine and 0.375 part emerald green added. Instead of Calcium chloride can also contain lime-acetic acid or iron-acetic acid. The one made in this way Finishing is applied to the textile materials between rollers through which the fabric passes applied, whereby the textile materials are freed from air by the pressure of the rollers and the color finish is incorporated into the fabric in the most perfect way. The colored one and finished fabric is suitably dried and calendered.
The present process also enables the fiber to be easily dyed to give in light mixed shades, which was difficult with the previous dyeing methods.
