Ammoniumchlorid. Be- vorzugt werden organische Säuren, insbesondere Ameisensäure.
Das erfindungsgemässe Verfahren zum Färben oder Bedrucken von Poly amidfasermaterial weist im Vergleich mit ähnlichen bekannten Verfahren folgende Vorteile auf: die Imprägnierflotte oder -paste ist homogen und gegen Salzes Alkalien und sogar gegen schwache Säuren weitgehend unempfindlich; sie ist darum bei kontinuierlicher Arbeitsweise stabiler; selbst bei der Erzeugung sehr tiefer Farbtöne erzielt man eine bessere Gleichmässigkeit der Färbung; ausserdem ist es möglich, Wollmaterial verschiedener Provenienz gleichzeitig an- und durchzufärben; ferner behalten die erfindungsgemäss gefärbten bzw. bedruckten Fasern einen reicheren Griff und lassen sich besser verspinnen;

Process for dyeing or printing natural or synthetic polyamide fibers with dyes of an anionic character
The present invention relates to a method for dyeing or printing natural or synthetic polyamide fibers as well as a dye liquor suitable for this method.
It is known that polyamide fiber material can be colored continuously. A well-known process consists, for example, in impregnating wool with an optionally thickened, aqueous solution of dyes with an anionic character at temperatures below the absorption temperature of these dyes, then drying the impregnated goods and placing them in a hot acid bath to fix the dye (" Acid shock process ") and rinses the treated goods. Since this method has disadvantages, e.g. gives uneven coloration, it has gained no practical importance.
As a further development of this process, it has already been proposed to add color transfer agents to the impregnation liquor.
As such, condensation products from fatty acids with 8 to 14 carbon atoms or from mixtures of such acids with 2 equivalents of dialkanolamine have proven to be the best. Such condensation products are obtained by the process described in American patent specification 2,089,212.
However, the use of these impregnation liquors also has a number of disadvantages. Above all, such impregnation liquors are not stable, because they often separate irreversibly after a few hours into a phase that is low in auxiliaries and a phase rich in auxiliaries and contains the bulk of the dye without any apparent influence. This phase formation in the impregnation liquor makes uniform dyeing difficult, especially in large quantities.
The tendency to phase formation has been held to be the decisive property of useful impregnation liquors. However, practice has shown that the impregnation liquors of the known process discussed above only give useful colorations if they have a carefully balanced content of dye, electrolytes and auxiliaries. The phase bond strength depends on the salt content of the impregnation liquor. The entrainment of electrolytes into the liquor is unavoidable if, for example, carbonized and neutralized wool is used in the continuously performed process, which has not been rinsed sufficiently carefully. Such influences impair the operational safety of the known method.
Finally, when the dyeing is completed by moving the impregnated goods into a hot acid bath, the undesired bleeding of the dye in this bath can only be avoided if the goods are dried beforehand. Now it was raised that, contrary to prevailing opinion, impregnation liquors that are surprisingly particularly suitable for the continuous dyeing of natural and synthetic polyamide fibers are obtained if aqueous dye solutions are added as color transfer agents that do not help these liquors either when they stand for a long time, when they are heated or when they are changed of the electrolyte content within the usual technical limit values give the property of phase formation.
The French patent specification 1,117,437 discloses the use of nitrogen-free, surface-active l'olyglycol ethers which contain a lipophilic radical, preferably an aliphatic or aliphatic-aromatic hydrocarbon radical of at least 10 carbon atoms, as a dye for dyeing wool with complex heavy metal compounds of monoazo dyes with azomethine dyes, which contain 1 heavy metal atom bound to 2 dye molecules.
According to the invention, an aqueous solution of a dye with an anionic character, thickened in some cases, is used for dyeing natural or synthetic polyamide fibers which, as a color carrier, is a soluble salt of a saturated, aliphatic monocarboxylic acid containing 8 to 14 carbon atoms, and a polyglycol ether b: w. -ester of a fatty alcohol or an aliphatic monocarboxylic acid with 8 to 14 carbon atoms, which has 4 to 12 ether groups and also contains other auxiliaries.
The polyamide fibers are impregnated with such a solution at a temperature which is below the exhaustion temperature of this dye and the dyeing or printing is completed in the heat and, if necessary, by the action of acids with subsequent rinsing.

Examples of N-substituted ammonium salts of the acids mentioned are derived from primary, secondary or tertiary amines, for example from nonoalkylamines such as methyl, ethyl, propyl or isopropylamine, from hydroxyalkylamines such as ß-hydroxyethyl or ß or γ;
-Hydroxypropylamine, of dialkylamines, such as dimethylamine, diethylamine and of bis (hydroxyalkyl) amines, such as bis (ss-hydroxyethyl) amine or bis (- Hydroxyeropyl) amine or of dihydroxypropyl) amine, from N -Alkyl-N- (hydroxyalkyl) -amines, such as N-ethyl- or N-ethyl-N- (ss-hyd @ oxyäthyl) - or - (γ-hydroxypropyl) amine, and also of strong acyclic sticky bases, such as from liiornholin, of trialkylamines, namely of tri (hydroxyalkyl) amines, for example of tri- (β-hydroxyethyl) amine, of N-alkyl-bis-N- (hydroxyalkyl) amines, such as N methyl or N -Aethyl-N, N-bis- (ss-hydroxyethyl) - or -bis (ss- or γ-hydroxypropyl) -amine or N-ethyl-N, N-bis- (ss, γ;
-dihydroxypropyl) amine or of diamines, namely of hydroxyalkylated, such as tetrahydroxyethyl-ethylenediamine.
Suitable polyglycol ethers are reaction products of 4 to 12, preferably 5 to 10, equivalents of ethylene oxide with, for example, one equivalent of octyl, decyl, dodecyl, tetradecyl alcohol or with one of the fatty acids mentioned above.
Other auxiliaries that may be present in the impregnation liquor are: inorganic salts, such as sodium chloride or sulfate, and acid, such as acetic or formic acid, but especially chromic acid salts if metallizable dyes are used .
The dyes which can be used according to the invention and have an anionic character, i. those whose coloring component is an anion and which are colored from a neutral to weakly acidic bath can be attached to any class of dye. It can be, for example, metal-free, heavy metal-containing or metallizable mono- or polyazo dyes, anthraquinone, phthalocyanine or nitro dyes. The method according to the invention is particularly suitable for coloring with metallizable azo dyes, then in the presence of soluble chromic acid salts, or with metal-containing monoazo dyes which contain 2 molecules of azo dyes bound to 1 atom of heavy metal, such as chromium or cobalt.
The products known in textile printing are used as thickeners, in particular the water-soluble salts of alginic acids. However, cellulose derivatives, such as methyl cellulose or soluble salts of carboxymethyl cellulose, can also be used.
According to the invention, both natural and artificial polyamide fibers can be dyed. Examples of natural polyamides are wool and silk, for conventional polyamides nylon, "Perlon" (Perlon trade mark association, registered association, Frankfurt a. Isin, Germany), "Rilsan" (Société Organico, Paris, France) or "Grilon" (F. . mser werke, Ems, Switzerland). The impregnated artificial polyamides are expediently after drying, advantageously under heat setting conditions, i.e. for example at temperatures of 150 - 2500, completed.
First and foremost, wool is suitable for the dyeing and printing process according to the invention, which under milder conditions, e.g. in a hot to simmering acid bath or by steaming.
The polyamide material can be dyed or printed according to the invention in any desired form, for example in the form of flakes, sliver, yarn or woven fabric. It can also be dyed in the form of mixed fibers, cellulose fibers mixed with or encrusted with polyamides, especially in the form of mixed fabrics, in particular in the form of mixed fabrics made of wool and polyester fibers, such as cellulose acetate, cellulose triacetate and especially polyterephthalic acid diolester fibers. You can dye only the polyamide (wool) part or at the same time the polyamide part according to the invention and the polyester part with dispersion dyes.
The fiber material is impregnated, for example, by printing, coating or spraying, but preferably by padding. Impregnating solutions which can be used according to the invention are advantageously prepared by mixing warm aqueous dye solutions of a suitable concentration, which may contain thickeners, with the desired amount of salts of saturated, aliphatic 8 to 14 Carbon atoms containing monocarboxylic acids and polyglycol ethers or esters of fatty alcohols or aliphatic monocarboxylic acids with 8 to 14 carbon atoms which have 4 to 12 ether groups, the weight ratio of the last two products mentioned is preferably about 1: 1.
The polyamide fiber material is advantageously impregnated at 40 to 700 C and then squeezed off to the desired content of impregnating liquor of approximately 40 to 110% of the fiber weight.
The dyeing or printing is completed, for example, by entering a hot acid bath (so-called "acid shock process") or by steaming.
The impregnated polyamide fiber material can be steamed by customary methods, advantageously with neutral saturated steam.
The fixing of the dye on the polyamide fiber material by treatment in the hot acid tape can be carried out in a known manner. The acid content is advantageously about 9 to 10 g / liter. It is advantageous to introduce the product into the acid bath at 80 to 980 C. Inorganic and organic acids as well as salts which dissociate in water with an acidic reaction are suitable for the acid bath. Examples of suitable inorganic acids are sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid or hydrochloric acid, and examples of suitable organic acids are formic acid or acetic acid.
Suitable salts which dissociate acidically in water are, for example, sodium or potassium hydrogen sulfate; salts of volatile bases with less volatile acids are also useful, e.g. Ammonium chloride. Organic acids, in particular formic acid, are preferred. In some cases it is useful to add water-soluble salts, preferably water-soluble calcium salts of mineral acids, in particular calcium chloride, to the acid bath. It can also be steamed or developed with hot dilute acid.
To rinse the hot acidified or steamed goods, cold or warm water is used, which can contain auxiliaries customary in dyeing, for example formic acid or acetic acid or also corrosive or detergent substances.
The inventive method for dyeing or printing poly amide fiber material has the following advantages in comparison with similar known methods: the impregnation liquor or paste is homogeneous and largely insensitive to salt alkalis and even weak acids; it is therefore more stable when working continuously; even when producing very deep hues, a better uniformity of the color is achieved; In addition, it is possible to dye wool materials of different origins at the same time; Furthermore, the fibers dyed or printed according to the invention retain a richer handle and can be spun better;
In addition, the impregnation liquors are easy to produce, can be kept indefinitely, so to speak, and they practically do not contaminate the apparatus; Finally, the pre-drying of the impregnated goods can possibly be dispensed with, which saves time and expenditure on equipment.
In the following examples the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius. Unless otherwise expressly stated, the parts are parts by weight. ; Weight parts relate to parts by volume as grams to cm3. With an impregnation liquor prepared according to Example 8, Section 1, but containing only 2/3 of the amount of dye specified in the example, nylon parts are impregnated at 400. Then it is squeezed to a liquor content of 50% of the fiber weight, it is moved to a 980 warm aqueous 4 cc / liter bath containing 85% formic acid and treats the fabric in this bath for 4 minutes. Only insignificant bleeding of the dye occurs in the acid bath.
The nylon component dyed in this way is then rinsed with warm and cold water; it is well and evenly colored olive Example 10
A toilet made of poly-E-aminocaprolactam ("PERLON," PRRLON trademark association, registered association, Frankfurt a. M., Germany) is impregnated with an impregnation liquor prepared according to Example 9 at 400, then squeezed off to a liquor content of 50 of the fiber weight and dried under thermosetting conditions at 190 for 45 seconds.
The perlodroile impregnated in this way is run into a 980 warm aqueous bath which contains 4 cc / liter of 85% formic acid and left boiling in this bath for 4 minutes. Wr is then rinsed with warm and cold water.
A uniformly colored, olive-colored "Perlon" toile is obtained.

With a solution that was prepared as in Example 1, Section 1, and instead of 300 parts of 500 parts of sodium alginate solution and instead of the dye mentioned there 40 parts of the chromium-containing nonoazo dye 2-aminophenol-4-sulfonic acid Ä thylami d
EMI18.1
Contains l-acetylamino-7-hydroxynaphthalene (dye: chromium = 2: 1), it is printed in the known manner of vigoureux printing woolen tops with a liquor pick-up of about 60%.
The aftertreatment of the printed goods by steaming and rinsing takes place as indicated in Example 1.
A gray-dyed woolen sliver is obtained, which is characterized by a full, voluminous handle. The goods are easy to comb and spin Example 13
40 parts of the chromium-containing monoazo dye 2-aminophenol-4-methylsulfone are dissolved
EMI18.2
l-Acetylamino-7-hydroxynaphthalene (dye: chromium = 2: 1) in a 600 warm mixture of 300 parts of a 2.5% strength aqueous sodium alginate solution, 15 parts of N-methyl-N- (ss-hydroxyethyl) amine salt of coconut oil fat acidic and 15 parts of the condensation product from 1 mol of tetradecyl alcohol and 6 mol of ethylene oxide in 250 parts of water. The resulting solution is made up to 1000 parts with water. The temperature of the solution should be 600.
This liquor is used to impregnate wool flannel at 600 and squeeze it with a liquor content of 80. The padded fabric is placed in a 950 warm aqueous bath, which contains 8 com / liter 5s% formic acid, and left in this bath for 5 minutes.
There is only insignificant bleeding of the dye into the acid bath. Thereafter, the wool flannel dyed gray is washed with a 450 warm aqueous solution of 0.5 / liter nonylphenol polyglycol ether and then rinsed with cold water. This gives a well-dyed gray wool flannel of good levelness, without a gray haze (so-called sandwich effect).
In the above example, instead of the dye mentioned, the cobalt-containing monoazo dye 2-amino-4-chlorophenol is used
EMI19.1
2-hydroxynaphthalene-6-sulfonic acid methylamide (dye: cobalt = 2: 1) or the chromium-containing monoazo dye 2-amino-4-chlorophenol
EMI19.2
1-hydroxynaphthalene-3-sulfonic acid amide (dye: chromium = 2: 1) and if the rest of the procedure is as indicated in the example, one obtains a corresponding ruby-red or blue-colored wool flannel of equally good coloration and uniformity of coloration.
Similar good colorations are obtained if, instead of the N-methyl-N- (ß-hydroxyethyl) amine salt given in the example, the methylamine salt, morpholine salt, tri (ß-hydroxyethyl) amine salt, bis (α-methyl-ss -hydroxyethyl) amine salt, sodium salt or potassium salt of coconut oil fatty acid or the 0-hydroxyethylamine salt of lauric acid used in each case together with the condensation product mentioned in the example, Example 14
Woolen tops are impregnated with an impregnation liquor which, instead of the metal-containing azo dye mentioned in Section 1 of Example 13, uses the dye "Polar Brilliant Blue GAW" (C.I.
61 135, Acid Blue 127) and is otherwise prepared as described in Example 13, Section 1, padded at 60 @ and squeezed off to a liquor content of about 80%. The woolen sliver is then run into a 98 warm aqueous bath containing 8 ccm / liter of 85% formic acid. The tops are left in this bath for 5 minutes.
There is only insignificant bleeding of the dye into the acid bath. The woolen sliver is then washed on a Lisseuse in an aqueous, 500 warm solution of 0.5 g / liter nonylphenol polyglycol ether, rinsed with water of 300, and treated in a new bath with an aqueous solution of 1.5 ccm / liter of 85% formic acid and then rinsed with 300 water.
The blue woolen sliver dyed in this way shows good penetration and is easy to comb and spin.
If the dyes mentioned in Example 3, Paragraph 3, are used instead of "Polar Brilliant Blue GAW", then one also obtains a well and evenly through-dyed wool sliver of red or yellow color.
Example 19
With an impregnation liquor produced according to Example 6, Section 4, woolen sliver is impregnated at 600 and squeezed off to a liquor content of 80. The padded fabric is then introduced into a 980 warm aqueous bath containing 8 cc / liter of 85% formic acid. The fabric is left in this bath for 5 minutes. There is only insignificant bleeding of the dye into the acid bath. Then the goods are washed with a 450 warm aqueous solution of 0.5 g / liter nonyl phenol polyglycolate and then rinsed with cold water.
The so obtained wool comb is well colored and the blue colors are very even, without a gray haze (so-called sandwich effect).
Example 16
40 parts of the dye "Eriochromblau SE" (C.I.
16 680) in a 600 warm mixture of 300 parts of a 2.5% strength aqueous sodium alginate solution, 15 parts of N-methyl N- (ss-hydroxyethyl) amine salt of coconut oil fatty acid and 15 parts of condensation product of 1 mole of dodecyl alcohol and 5 moles of ethylene oxide and 10 Parts of potassium chromate in 250 parts of water. The resulting solution is made up to 1000 parts with water and adjusted to a pH of 6 with acetic acid. The temperature should be 600.
This liquor is used to impregnate wool flannel at 600 and squeeze it with a liquor content of 80%. The padded fabric is placed in a 980 warm aqueous bath which contains 8 ccm / liter of aqueous formic acid and left in this bath for 5 minutes. There is only insignificant bleeding of the dye into the acid bath. Then the blue-colored wool flannel is washed with a 450 warm aqueous solution of 0.5 g / liter nonylphenol polyglycol ether and then rinsed with cold water. This gives a well-dyed blue wool flannel of good levelness, without a gray haze (so-called sandwich effect).
If instead of the dye mentioned Eriochromgelb G "(CI 25 100) or'9riochromrot G (CI 18 750) is used and the rest of the procedure is as indicated in the example, one obtains correspondingly yellow or red-dyed wool flannel of equally good color penetration and uniformity of coloration .
Example 17
Wool flannel is impregnated and steamed according to example 1.
The still moist goods are placed in a 980 warm, aqueous bath containing 8 cc / liter of 85% formic acid and left in this for 1 to 5 minutes, with only insignificant bleeding of the dye in the acid bath. The wool flannel dyed in this way is then washed in a 450 warm, aqueous solution of 0.5 g / liter nonylphenol polyglycol ether and then rinsed with cold water.
This gives a well-dyed orange wool flannel of good levelness, without '| grail veil' (so-called sandwich effect).
Example 18
A fabric consisting of 45 parts of wool and 55 parts of "Terylene" (I.C.I., Manchester, England) is impregnated and steamed analogously to Example 1. The wool part of the fabric is colored orange, while the polyester part remains practically undyed.
Example 19
A mixed fabric made of wool and cellulose triacetate is impregnated and steamed as in Example 1. The wool part of the fabric is colored orange, while the triacetate part remains practically undyed.
