Abstract
Gegenstand der vorliegenden Erfindung ist ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von 4-Hydroxybutyraldehyd, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass Allylalkohol gelöst in polaren Lösungsmitteln mit CO und H2 in Gegenwart eines katalytischen Systems, das aus einem Rhodium-Komplex und einem Cyclobutan-Liganden, der mindestens zwei trans-koordinierte (1,3-Dialkyl-phenyl-phosphino-methyl)-gruppen enthält, entsteht, unter Ausschluss von Katalysatoren, die als Liganden ein aliphatisches, araliphatisches oder cycloaliphatisches Phosphin enthalten, umgesetzt wird.
Description
- Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Hydroformylierung von Allylalkohol, um 4-Hydroxybutyraldehyd herzustellen.
- HINTERGRUND DER ERFINDUNG
- Die Hydroformylierung von Allylalkohol ist bekannt und wird großtechnisch ausgeübt, (s. z. B.
USP 4,064,145 ;USP 4,215,077 ;USP 4,238,419 ;USP 4,678,857 ;USP 5,290,743 ). Allylalkohol wird in diesen Verfahren mit CO/H2-Gasgemischen umgesetzt, wobei 4-Hydroxybutyraldehyd (HBA) entsteht. Nach destillativer Abtrennung von unerwünschten Nebenprodukten wird HBA in bekannter Weise zu 1,4-Butandial (BDO) hydriert. - Ein Nachteil dieser Herstellungsweise ist die Bildung von unerwünschten Nebenprodukten. Insbesondere entsteht neben dem erwünschten linearen Produkt das isomere verzweigte Produkt 3-Hydroxy-2-methylpropionaldehyd (HMPA) und andere C3-Nebenprodukte wie n-Propanol und Propionaldehyd. Dadurch wird die Wirtschaftlichkeit der Verfahren beeinträchtigt.
- Gegenstand der vorliegenden Erfindung ist ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von 4-Hydroxybutyraldehyd, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass Allylalkohol gelöst in polaren Lösungsmitteln mit CO und H2 in Gegenwart eines katalytischen Systems, das aus einem Rhodium-Komplex und einem Cyclobutan-Liganden, der mindestens zwei trans-koordinierte (1,3-Dialkyl-phenyl-phosphino-methyl)-gruppen enthält, entsteht, unter Ausschluss von Katalysatoren, die als Liganden ein aliphatisches, aliphatisches oder cycloaliphatisches Phosphin enthalten, umgesetzt wird.
- DETAILLIERTE BESCHREIBUNG DER ERFINDUNG
- Trans-1,2-(1,3-Dialkyl-phenyl-phosphino-methyl)-cyclobutane, die als Liganden in der vorliegenden Erfindung verwendet werden haben die Formel [A] in der
R1 fur Alkyl, bevorzugt Methyl, Ethyl oder Propyl
R2 für H oder eine Alkoxygruppe,
R3 und R4 unabhängig voneinander für H, CH2OR1, CH2O-Aralkyl, CH2OH, CH2-[P(3,5-R1,R1-4-R2-Phenyl)2] oder
CH2O-(CH2-CH2-O-)-mH stehen, wobei m eine Zahl von 1 bis 1000 bedeutet. - Bevorzugt ist [A] ein all-trans-cyclobutanderivat.
- Ein zusätzlicher Aspekt der Erfindung ist die Verwendung neuer Katalysatoren der Formel [A], die unterschiedliche Ausgestaltungen des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens ermöglichen.
- Üblicherweise wird die Hydroformylierung von Allylalkohol mit bekannten Katalysatoren in homogener Phase durchgeführt Nach der Umsetzung werden HBA, HMPA und andere Nebenprodukte durch Extraktion mit Wasser vom Katalysator abgetrennt.
- Die erfindungsgemäße Hydroformylierung in polaren Lösungsmitteln ermöglicht eine Abtrennung lipophiler Katalysatoren der Formel [A] durch Extraktion mit hydrophoben Lösungsmitteln und die Rückführung des Katalysators in die 1. Verfahrensstufe.
- Neue hydrophile Katalysatorsysteme der Formel [A] mit Polyethergruppierungen können in Membranreaktoren eingesetzt werden und ermöglichen damit eine kontinuierliche Abtrennung der Verfahrensprodukte nach der Hydroformylierung.
- Das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren unterscheidet sich gegenüber bislang beschriebenen Verfahren zur Herstellung von HBA durch den Ausschluss von Katalysatoren, die Liganden der Formeln PR'3 enthalten, wobei R' für einen aliphatischen, araliphatischen oder cycloaliphatischen Rest steht. Solche Katalysatoren hydrieren einen erheblichen Anteil des eingesetzten Allylalkohols zu unerwünschten Nebenprodukten, (s.
USP 7,655,821 B1 ). - Hingegen können im erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren an Stelle von Katalysatoren die einen Cyclobutan-Liganden enthalten, der mindestens zwei trans-koordinierte (1,3-Dialkyl-phenyl-phosphino-methyl-)gruppierungen besitzt, auch Diphosphine der DIOP-Reihe, wie z. B. 2,3-O-isopropyliden-2,3-dihydroxy-1,4-bis[bis(3,5-dimethylphenylphosphino]butan verwendet werden; (s.
WO2010/132087 - Bevorzugt sind jedoch Katalysatoren der Cyclobutanreihe, die günstigere HBA:HMPA-Proportionen erreichen lassen.
- Die im erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren verwendeten polaren Lösungsmittel sind nicht reaktiv gegenüber den Produkten der Hydroformylierung. Im Unterschied zu den in bekannten Verfahren eingesetzten Lösungsmitteln, (s. z. B.
WO2010/132087 - Als polare Lösungsmittel seien beispielsweise Ethanol, Propanol, n-Butanol, i-Butanol, 1,4-Butandiol und Polyether der Formel CH3O-(-CH2-CH2-O-)-nH mit einem Molgewicht > 2000 genannt.
- Die Hydroformylierung erfolgt unter an sich bekannten Reaktionsbedingungen im Temperaturbereich von 20 bis 120°C und in einem Druckbereich von 2–20 bar. Die optimale Ausführung wir durch entsprechende Vorversuche je nach vorgegebenem Equipment ermittelt.
- Das molare Verhältnis von CO:H2 liegt bei ca. 1:1, kann aber je nach Ausführungsform beträchtlich variieren.
- Die Reaktionszeit beträgt 0,5–4 Stunden. Zu Beginn der Umsetzung liegt die Allylalkohol-Konzentration bei 5–50%, vorzugsweise bei 10–25% bezogen auf das Löschungsmittel bzw. Löschungsmittel-Gemisch.
- HBA (und HMPA) werden in an sich bekannter Weise zu den entsprechenden Dihydroxyverbindungen hydriert und durch fraktionierte Destillation des Rohproduktes wird das erwünschte 1,4-Butandiol in reiner Form erhalten. Für die Hydrierung können Ni-, Co-, Ru-, Pt-, Pd-, Cu-, Zn- und Cr-Katalysatoren verwendet werden. Besonders bevorzugt werden Raney®-Ni-Katalysatoren eingesetzt. Die Hydrierung wird i. a. bei Temperaturen von 60–200°C und im Druckbereich von 15–70 bar ausgeführt.
- Die folgenden Beispiele erläutern das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren:
- Beispiel 1
- Herstellung eines neuen Katalysators, der im erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren eingesetzt wird:
- a) Herstellung eines neuen Zwischenprodukts aus bekanntem all-trans-1,2,3,4-(Hydroxymethyl)-cyclobutan: 88 mg (0,5 mmol) all-trans-1,2,3,4-(Hydroxymethyl)-cyclobutan wurden in 3 ml wasserfreiem Pyridin gelöst und bei 0°C unter intensivem Rühren wurden 251 mg (0,9 mmol) Tritylchlorid hinzugegeben. Die Reaktionsmischung wurde über Nacht unter Rühren bei 0°C gehalten. Danach wurde sie zu 10 ml Wasser gegeben und mit Ethylacetat (3 × 5 ml) extrahiert, anschließend mit MgSO4 getrocknet und im Rotationsverdampfer zur Trockene gebracht. Das Rohprodukt wurde durch Chromatographie (Silicagel) aufgetrennt. (Eluent: EthylacetatHexan 1:3 → 2:3 → Ethylacetat:Methanol 95:5). Als Hauptprodukt wurden 114 mg (34% d. Th.) all-trans-1,2-(Hydroxymethyl)-3,4-(trityloxymethyl)-cyclobutan erhalten.
- b) In an sich bekannter Weise wurde diese Verbindung tosyliert und mit LiP(3,5-xylyl)2 umgesetzt.
- Beispiel 2
- Hydroformylierung entsprechend dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren:
In 4 ml getrocknetem und entgastem tert. Butylmethylether werden 16 mmol all-trans-1,2,3,4-(3,5-Xylyl-phosphino-methyl)-cyclobutan unter Argon mit [Rh(CO)2(acac)] (8 mmol) umgesetzt. - Die resultierende Lösung wird unter Argon in einen Autoklaven eingepresst und mit einer CO:H2-1:1-Mischung gespült. Über einen Seitenarm wird anschließend eine Lösung von 1 ml Allylalkohol in 15 ml Ethanol zugegeben und die Reaktion bei einem Druck von 40 bar und einer Temperatur von 120°C ausgeführt. Man erhält 97% d. Th. HBA + HMPA in einem Verhältnis von ca. 14:1.

Claims (11)
- Verfahren zur Herstellung von 4-Hydroxybutyraldehyd, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass Allylalkohol in polaren Lösungsmitteln mit CO und H2 in Gegenwart eines katalytischen Systems, das aus einem Rhodium-Komplex und einem Cyclobutan-Liganden, der mindestens zwei trans-koordinierte (1,3-Dialkyl-phenyl-phosphinomethyl)gruppen enthält, entsteht, unter Ausschluss von Katalysatoren, die als Liganden ein aliphatisches, araliphatisches oder cycloaliphatisches Phosphin enthalten, umgesetzt wird.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass ein katalytisches System benutzt wird, das aus einem Rhodium-Komplex und all-trans-1,2,3,4-(3,5-Xylyl-phosphino-methyl)-cyclobutan entsteht.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass ein katalytisches System benutzt wird, das aus einem Rhodium-Komplex und trans-1,2-(3,5-Xylyl-phosphino-methyl-cyclobutan entsteht.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass ein katalytisches System benutzt wird, das aus einem Rhodium-Komplex und all-trans-1,2,3-(3,5-Xylyl-phosphino-methyl)-4-(methoxy-methyl)-cyclobutan entsteht.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass ein katalytisches System benutzt wird, das aus einem Rhodium-Komplex und all-trans-1,2-(3,5-Xylyl-phosphino-methyl)-3,4-bis(trityloxymethyl)-cyclobutan entsteht.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass als polare Lösungsmittel Alkohole verwendet werden, in denen Wasser mindestens zu 2% Gewichtsanteilen, vorzugsweise > 5% löslich ist.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass als polare Lösungsmittel Polyether verwendet werden, die wasserlöslich sind und deren Molgewicht > 2000 ist.
- Der in Anspruch 2 benutzte Katalysator.
- Der in Anspruch 4 benutzte Katalysator.
- Der in Anspruch 5 benutzte Katalysator.
- all-trans-1,2-(Hydroxymethyl)-3,4-(trityloxymethyl)-cyclobutan.
