Abstract

Ein Gassensor, insbesondere Lambda-Sonde, für die Bestimmung der Sauerstoffkonzentration im Abgas einer mit einem Kraftstoff-Luft-Gemisch betriebenen Brennkraftmaschine, umfassend eine Pumpzelle mit einer dem Abgas ausgesetzten Außenelektrode (150), mit einer in einem vom Abgas durch eine erste Diffusionsbarriere (120) getrennten Messraum (130) angeordneten Innenelektrode (140) und mit einer elektronischen Schaltung (190) zur Erzeugung einer zwischen Außenelektrode (150) und Innenelektrode (140) anliegenden Spannung (U¶pump¶) und zur Messung und Auswertung eines sich dabei einstellenden Pumpstroms (I¶pump¶), um daraus auf die Zusammensetzung des Kraftstoff-Luft-Gemisches zu schließen, ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Außenelektrode (150) in einem eigenen Messvolumen (230) angeordnet ist, das durch eine weitere, zweite Diffusionsbarriere (220) getrennt ist, deren Diffusionskoeffizient sich von dem der ersten Diffusionsbarriere (120) unterscheidet, und dass die Schaltung (190) zur vorzugsweise wiederholten Umpolung der Spannung (U¶pump¶) ausgebildet ist.
