Abstract

Ein Sender verwendet einen auf einem Chip befindlichen Mustergenerator, um ein Eingangssignal bereitzustellen, und eine eingebaute Überwachungseinrichtung, um die Leistung des durch die Lichtquelle emittierten Lichts zu erfassen. Der Sender bestimmt die Korrelation zwischen der durch ein externes Leistungsmessgerät gemessenen Ausgangsleistung und der durch die eingebaute Überwachungseinrichtung erfassten Ausgangsleistung. Nachdem die Korrelation bestimmt wurde, wird das externe Leistungsmessgerät nicht mehr benötigt. Statt dessen werden weitere Charakterisierungen, z. B. Charakterisierungen über die Temperatur, durchgeführt, indem die durch die eingebaute Überwachungseinrichtung erfasste Leistung bestimmt wird und indem anschließend die bekannte Korrelation verwendet wird, um die tatsächliche Leistungsausgabe und andere Sendercharakteristika zu berechnen.
