Abstract

Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf eine medizinische Prothese für tierische oder menschliche Körper, wobei die Prothese miteinander verbundene metallische Hohlkugeln aufweist.

Description

Die Erfindung betrifft eine medizinische Prothese für tierische oder menschliche Körper sowie die Verwendung von metalli­ schen, miteinander verbundenen Hohlkugeln.
Im Bereich der Medizintechnik werden zwei Gattungen von Pro­ thesen unterschieden: Einerseits die im Körper angeordneten sogenannten Endoprothesen, beispielsweise Bestandteile eines künstlichen Gelenkes od. dgl. Weiterhin werden Prothesen als künstliche Gliedmaßen verwendet, beispielsweise nach Beinver­ letzungen oder Amputationen.
In vielen Fällen ergibt sich das Problem, dass die aufgrund der erforderlichen strukturellen Festigkeit gewählten Werkstoffe ver­ gleichsweise schwer sind und daher zu Beeinträchtigungen des Wohlbefindens des Patienten führen können. Bei Endoprothe­ sen ist außer diesen reinen Festigkeitseigenschaften noch die Anbindung an das umgebende Körpergewebe wichtig. Dort wird angestrebt, Bestandteile eines künstlichen Hüftgelenkes mit dem jeweils benachbarten Knochengewebe verwachsen zu lassen, um so eine gute Verankerung der Endoprothesen sicherzustel­ len.
Der Erfindung liegt die Aufgabe zugrunde, eine medizinische Prothese für tierische oder menschliche Körper zu schaffen, die ein geringes Gewicht und eine hohe strukturelle Festigkeit der Prothese ermöglicht.
Diese Aufgabe wird durch eine Prothese mit den Merkmalen des Anspruches 1 gelöst sowie durch die Verwendung von mit­ einander verbundenen metallischen Hohlkugeln zur Herstellung einer medizinischen Prothese.
Die Erfindung schlägt mit anderen Worten vor, die Prothese bei­ spielsweise als Leichtbauelement auszugestalten, durch die Verwendung von metallischen, miteinander verbundenen Hohl­ kugeln, wie sie beispielsweise aus der DE 298 07 280 U1 be­ kannt sind. Diese Hohlkugeln lassen sich auf verschiedene Weise für die Herstellung von Prothesen nutzen:
Wenn die Prothese beispielsweise als Endoprothese ausgestal­ tet ist, kann vorgesehen sein, die Hohlkugeln an der Oberfläche dieser Prothese anzuordnen, um auf diese Weise eine rauhe Oberfläche mit einer Vielzahl von Lücken bzw. Hinterschneidun­ gen zu schaffen, die eine gute Verankerung im benachbarten Knochengewebe ermöglicht.
Zudem bewirken die Hohlkugeln eine hervorragende strukturelle Festigkeit, so dass das eigentliche Prothesenelement grund­ sätzlich aus derartigen Hohlkugeln aufgebaut sein kann, nicht nur an der Oberfläche. Gegebenenfalls kann, um die strukturelle Festigkeit zu erhöhen, ein Kern aus derartigen Hohlkugeln vor­ gesehen sein, der mit einer festigkeitsgebenden äußeren Schale umhüllt ist, wobei diese Schale aus Metall, kunststoff oder Keramik oder Mischformen dieser Materialien bestehen kann. Gegebenenfalls kann die Schale selbst ihrerseits wieder mit den erwähnten äußeren Hohlkugeln versehen sein.
Es kann jedoch auch eine äußere Hüllschicht vorgesehen sein, die nicht im wesentlichen strukturelle Festigkeit liefert, sondern ein natürliches Aussehen, beispielsweise im Bereich der künstli­ chen Gliedmaßen, wenn eine äußere Hüllschicht vorgesehen ist, die ein natürliches Aussehen der betreffenden Gliedmaßen an­ strebt und die beispielsweise aus einem weichen Kunststoff be­ stehen kann, wobei der festigkeitsgebende Kern dieser künstli­ chen Gliedmaßen entweder aus den Hohlkugeln oder aus in ei­ ner festigkeitsgebenden zusätzlichen Schale angeordneten Hohlkugeln besteht.
Die Hohlkugeln können auf beliebige Weise miteinander ver­ bunden sein. Gegenüber miteinander versinterten Hohlkugeln, bei denen also die einzelnen Hohlkugeln an der äußeren Ober­ fläche aufschmelzen und miteinander verschmelzen, lassen sich besonders geringe Gewichte der Hohlkugeln dadurch erreichen, dass diese eine besonders geringe Wandstärke aufweisen. Auf­ grund der geringen Wandstärke ist eine Versinterung der Hohl­ kugeln nicht möglich, sondern diese können vorteilhaft mitein­ ander verklebt sein.
Komplizierte Formstücke können dadurch geschaffen werden, dass die Hohlkugeln zunächst mit Kunststoff beschichtet wer­ den. Anschließend, ohne dass der Kunststoff klebfähig ist, wer­ den die beschichteten Hohlkugeln in eine vorgegebene Form ge­ füllt und ggf. verdichtet, beispielsweise durch Vibrationen. Nach­ dem eine optimal dichte Kugelpackung durch die Verdichtung er­ reicht ist, werden die Kugeln erhitzt, beispielsweise durch Tem­ peraturzufuhr von außen in Form von Heißluft od. dgl. oder durch "innere" Erwärmung, beispielsweise durch Induktivbehei­ zung, durch Mikrowellen od. dgl. Bei dieser Erwärmung schmilzt die Kunststoffbeschichtung der Kugeln auf, so dass die Hohlku­ geln miteinander verklebt werden. Bei einer derartigen Verfah­ rensweise können die Kugeln entweder in der Form verbleiben, wenn die Form beispielsweise die vorerwähnte Füllschicht dar­ stellt, oder sie können aus der Form entnommen werden, wobei zu diesem Zweck vorteilhaft eine Form verwendet wird, die mit­ tels des an der Oberfläche der Kugeln vorgesehenen Klebers nicht verklebbar ist oder die mittels eines geeigneten Trennmit­ tels oberflächenbehandelt ist, wobei anstelle eines derartigen Trennmittels auch eine Trennschicht, beispielsweise in Form ei­ ner Folie od. dgl., vorgesehen sein kann, die das Anhaften der Kugeln an der Form verhindert.

Claims (7)

1. Medizinische Prothese für tierische oder menschliche Kör­ per, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Prothese miteinan­ der verbundene metallische Hohlkugeln aufweist.
2. Medizinische Prothese nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekenn­ zeichnet, dass die Prothese als Endoprothese ausgestaltet ist und dass die Hohlkugeln an der äußeren Oberfläche der Prothese angeordnet sind.
3. Medizinische Prothese nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Hohlkugeln den Prothesenkörper bilden.
4. Medizinische Prothese nach Anspruch 3, gekennzeichnet durch eine äußere Hüllschicht, welche die Hohlkugeln auf­ nimmt und welche im wesentlichen geschlossen ausgestal­ tet ist.
5. Medizinische Prothese nach Anspruch 4, dadurch gekenn­ zeichnet, dass die Hüllschicht eine hohe strukturelle Festig­ keit der Prothese bewirkend ausgestaltet ist.
6. Medizinische Prothese nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Hohlkugeln miteinander verklebt sind.
7. Verwendung von miteinander verbundenen metallischen Hohlkugeln zur Herstellung einer medizinischen Prothese für tierische oder menschliche Körper.
