Abstract
Un procedimiento para tratar un agua natural o residual que contiene Mg disuelto o Al disuelto comprende los pasos de agregar al agua natural o residual por lo menos un compuesto que contiene Mg o por lo menos un compuesto que contiene Al para formar con ello un hidróxido de doble capa (LDH) que contiene Mg y Al como una especie metálica predominante en un retículo del LDH. El LDH puede contener hidrotalcita. El compuesto que contiene Al puede ser aluminato o hidróxido de aluminio derivado del proceso Bayer o de una refinería de alúmina.
