Abstract
En un aparato para la formación de una corriente devidrio de envoltura que tiene un vidrio de núcleo interno rodeado por un vidrio de envoltura externo, dicho aparato que incluye medios (14) para suministrar vidrio de núcleo desde una primera fuente (12) a través de un primer orificio (24), medios para formar un segundo orificio (30) verticalmente espaciado debajo y alineado con el dicho primer orificio con una cámara (32) que rodea el dicho segundo orificio y que comunica con el dicho segundo orificio a través de un intersticio entre los dichos primer y segundo orificios, y medios (34, 38) para suministrar vidrio de envoltura desde una segunda fuente hacia la dicha cámara en forma tal que el vidrio fluye por gravedad a través de los dichos orificios desde las dichas fuentes a través de los dichos orificios para formar la dicha corriente de vidrio de envoltura, dicho método para suministrar vidrio de envoltura que incluye un pico de vaciado (38) que tiene una abertura de salida (36) y un tubo de pico de vaciado (40) dispuesto dentro del dicho pico de vaciado para controlar el suministro de vidrio de envoltura a través de la dicha abertura de pico de vaciado, la mejora que comprende:caracterizado porque dicho aparato comprende adicionalmente medios (5, 52, 54, 56, 59, 60 o 50, 52, 54, 56a, 70, 72) para suministrar gas bajo presión hacia un volumen interior hacia el dicho tubo en forma tal de mantener el dicho volumen interior del tubo a una presión por encima de la presión ambiental que rodea el dicho pico de vaciado.
