Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a un novedoso sistema de resina reactiva para revestimiento intumescente y a un procedimiento de producción de dicho sistema de resina. Los revestimientos intumescentes se utilizan en particular para la protección contra incendios de componentes metálicos de construcción, como por ejemplo vigas de acero en la construcción de edificios. En caso de incendio, dichos revestimientos sufren una espumación reactiva que resulta en la formación, sobre la viga metálica, de una capa aislante ignífuga que tiene baja conductividad térmica y que —a través del aislamiento que ésta crea— retarda cualquier fallo prematuro inducido térmicamente de dicho componente de construcción. La presente invención se refiere, en particular, a sistemas de resina a base de metacrilato producidos por medio de un novedoso procedimiento en el que una primera fracción de monómeros se polimeriza hasta un grado máximo de 95% en peso y luego se diluye con una segunda mezcla de monómeros. La temperatura de transición vítrea del componente polimérico de la composición formada es particularmente baja en comparación con la técnica anterior. Además, los ácidos orgánicos incorporados al sistema de resina tienen un efecto sinérgico sorprendente con el sistema de cargas. Los sistemas de resina fabricados de este modo resultan ser especialmente eficaces en la formación de espuma inducida térmicamente, debido a su estructura de espuma de poros finos y de poros cerrados.
