Abstract

本发明提供一种能够改善残余图像并改善可靠性及画面品质的液晶显示装置。本发明的液晶显示装置包括:分别具有规定的图案并以规定距离相对配置的下部基板及上部基板;介于所述下部基板与上部基板之间的液晶层;分别设于所述下部基板与液晶层之间以及上部基板与液晶层之间,决定液晶的初始排列的取向膜,其中,为了使所述取向膜产生的电容减少,使下部基板的台阶差减少而改善残余图像,所述取向膜在膜的内部形成气泡。

技术领域
本发明涉及液晶显示装置,更加详细地说,涉及能够改善残留图像提高可靠性及图像品质的液晶显示装置
背景技术
为了改善内板切换(In-Plain Switching)模式LCD的低数值孔径及透射率而提出有边缘场驱动液晶显示装置(Fringe Field Switching mode LiquidCrystal Display:以下成为FFS模式LCD),在韩国专利申请第98-9243号中申请有这样的FFS模式LCD。
所述FFS模式液晶显示装置用透明传导体形成对电极和象素电极,通过使其孔径比及透射率比IPS模式LCD高,并且使所述对电极和象素电极之间的间隔比上、下基板之间的间隔窄小,在所述对电极和象素电极之间形成边缘场,故使得存在于所述电极的上部的液晶分子也都全部动作,能够得到更高的透射率。
图1是用于说明现有的FFS模式液晶显示装置的剖面图,其说明如下文所述。
如图1所示,在上部基板1上形成用于遮断光透射的黑矩阵层2,并形成由红绿蓝构成的滤色片层3。在所述黑矩阵层2和滤色片层3上形成保护层4。另外,在下部基板11上形成板型的公共电极12,并在含有所述公共电极12的基板结果物上形成栅绝缘膜13。在所述栅绝缘膜13上形成数据线14,在包含所述数据线14的基板结果物上形成保护膜15。在所述保护膜15上形成狭缝型的象素电极16。在所述上部基板1与液晶层18之间以及下部基板11与液晶层18之间形成有决定液晶的初始排列的取向膜5、17。
但是,现有的FFS模式液晶显示装置与TN模式液晶显示装置不同,由于在上部基板上不形成电极并且黑矩阵层及保护层由电阻率非常高的物质形成,故产生残余图像的原因诸多。特别是,FFS模式液晶显示装置与TN模式液晶显示装置相比,虽然电容器的大小增大,但由此,由于杂质离子的吸附和残留DC成分的影响而使残留图像显著发生。
另外,用于形成取向膜的取向剂由高分子化合物和溶剂(Solvent)构成,该溶剂为使涂敷特性增加而用于溶解高分子化合物。在此,高分子化合物起到在一定的方向上排列液晶的作用,溶剂为了容易进行高分子化合物的涂敷而是具有低粘度的液状物质,其起到维持取向膜的作用。由所述高分子化合物和溶剂构成的取向剂是涂敷时电阻率大的物质形态,其主要用于增加液晶显示装置内部的电容,产生液晶显示装置的残余图像。
发明内容
因此,本发明为解决上述问题而提出的,其目的在于提供一种能够改善残余图像,改善可靠性及图像品质的液晶显示装置。
为实现上述目的,本发明的液晶显示装置包括:分别具有规定的图案并以规定距离相对配置的下部基板及上部基板;介于所述下部基板与上部基板之间的液晶层;分别设于所述下部基板与液晶层之间以及上部基板与液晶层之间,决定液晶的初始排列的取向膜,其中,为了使所述取向膜产生的电容减少,使下部基板的台阶差减少而改善残余图像,所述取向膜在膜的内部形成气泡。
在此,所述取向膜包括在一定方向上用于排列液晶的高分子化合物、具有低粘度和低比重并且在70~80℃的温度下具有高挥发性的第一溶剂、具有高比重并且在大于或等于100℃的温度下具有高挥发性的第二溶剂。
如上所述,本发明通过在液晶显示装置的取向膜的内部形成气泡而能够降低取向膜的电容。另外,能够根据下部基板图案调节取向膜的厚度,由此能够补偿下部基板图案之间的台阶差,形成平坦度优良的取向膜。

具体实施方式
以下参照附图详细说明本发明的最佳实施方式。
图2是用于说明本发明实施方式的预固化(Precure)后的剖面图,图3是用于说明本发明实施方式的主固化(Maincure)后的剖面图。
如图2所示,在上部基板21上形成用于遮断光透射的黑矩阵层22,并形成由红绿蓝构成的滤色片层23。在所述黑矩阵层22和滤色片层23上形成保护层24。另外,在下部基板31上形成板形的公共电极32,并在含有所述公共电极32的基板结果物上形成栅绝缘膜33。在所述栅绝缘膜33上形成数据线34,在含有所述数据线34的基板结果物上形成保护膜35。在所述保护膜35上形成狭缝状的象素电极36。在所述上部基板21与液晶层38之间以及下部基板31与液晶层38之间形成决定液晶初始排列的取向膜25、37。
在本发明中,为了在所述下部基板31上形成取向膜37,在含有图像电极36的基板结果物上涂敷取向剂。在此,所述取向剂包括用于在一定方向上排列液晶的高分子化合物、具有低粘度和低比重并且在70~80℃的温度下具有高挥发性的第一溶剂、具有高比重并且在大于或等于100℃的温度下具有高挥发性的第二溶剂。在70~80℃的温度下对涂敷有所述取向剂的下部基板进行热处理时,一边以高速从取向剂的表面层挥发第一溶剂一边进行取向剂表面的固化,形成具有光滑表面的第一取向膜37a。此时,所述第二溶剂由于高比重在不蒸发的液体状态下分布在下部基板31的第二取向膜37b的内部。
如图3所示,以70~80℃的温度加热涂敷有所述取向剂的下部基板31后,为了进行高分子化合物的再结合的酰亚胺化(Imid),在大于或等于100℃的高温下进行热处理时,第二溶剂的挥发与取向剂的酰亚胺化一同进行。此时,所述第二溶剂不能从取向剂表面释放,而通过在内部形成气泡(A),在第二取向膜37b的内部形成空气层,由此,起到降低取向膜的电容的作用。
另外,在下部基板上涂敷取向剂时,由于具有低粘度和低比重的第一溶剂,在产生高台阶差的部分和相对低的台阶差的部分之间产生涂敷量的差,该涂敷量的差由第二溶剂而引起气泡产生量的差,故其起到根据下部基板调节取向膜的图案的厚度的作用,能够补偿形成于下部基板上的图案的台阶差,形成平坦度优良的取向膜。
以上举例说明了本发明,但本发明不限于此,本领域技术人员能够在不脱离本发明主旨的范围内进行多种修正和变形。

Claims (2)

1.一种液晶显示装置,其包括:分别具有规定的图案并以规定距离相对配置的下部基板及上部基板;介于所述下部基板与上部基板之间的液晶层;分别设于所述下部基板与液晶层之间以及上部基板与液晶层之间,决定液晶的初始排列的取向膜,其特征在于,为了使所述取向膜产生的电容减少,使下部基板的台阶差减少而改善残余图像,所述取向膜在膜的内部形成气泡。
2.如权利要求1所述的液晶显示装置,其特征在于,所述取向膜包括:用于在一定的方向上排列液晶的高分子化合物;具有低粘度和低比重并且在70~80℃的温度下具有高挥发性的第一溶剂;具有高比重并且在大于或等于100℃的温度下具有高挥发性的第二溶剂。
