Description

利用嵌入媒体播放器页面收集数据的方法
本发明涉及用来播放媒体文件比如音频和视频文件的媒体播放器,而且特别涉及嵌入或打包的媒体播放器。
同媒体播放器应用程序一道“打包”或“嵌入”的媒体播放器也越来越普遍地用来提供内容了。媒体播放器是一种输出音频与视频文件的应用程序,该音频与视频文件或被本地存储在多媒体设备中或经通信接口从远程存储位置被流式传输/下载下来。打包或嵌入的媒体播放器是嵌在数据显示内的可视的应用程序。数据显示的例子有网页、电子程序设计向导和其他创建图形成份的软件应用程序。数据显示代码可以包括脚本编写(scripting),它调用驻留在客户机上的媒体播放器作为嵌入到数据显示内的对象。作为选择,功能媒体播放器小应用程序可以随着数据页一同下载,并且该数据页被设计成可使由该小应用程序生成的媒体播放器嵌入。
作为把媒体体验转化为货币的手段,网页周围提供出用于广告和商标的空间,所以许多内容供应商采用这种嵌入技术。然而,已知的把媒体播放器嵌在其中的嵌入媒体播放器页面有几个缺点。首先,尤其是对被流式传输的视频内容来说,现有的嵌入媒体播放器页面通常以同样的大小显示所有的视频数据,导致图像成分被固定大小的视频显示区域所修剪。这尤其是与同步多媒体综合语言(SMIL)文件相关的一个问题,这种文件是利用可扩展标记语言的语法来捆绑视频、音频、文本、图形图像和超链接的超文本标记语言(HTML)类文件。如果标准修剪技术把文件的呈现截短,那么SMIL文件就不会把所有可用的屏幕内容都呈现给用户。否则,用户就得手动地将嵌入的媒体播放器调整到视频显示的大小。
此外,当用户收看或收听嵌入的媒体播放器所播放的媒体文件时,该用户利用浏览器创建的书签特别地指向媒体文件本身。直接对于媒体文件的书签绕过了嵌入媒体播放器页面的内容而且在该用户对该媒体文件进行后续播放的期间防止来自广告内容和商标显示的收入的产生。
更进一步,由嵌入的媒体播放器的使用收集而来的数据能够帮助内容提供商测定观众兴趣。例如,已知的嵌入媒体播放器页面不收集表明用户是允许媒体文件一直播放到完还是在媒体文件播完以前就关闭嵌入媒体播放器页面这一情况的数据。还有,不产生表明在媒体文件播完以后用户是否还把嵌入媒体播放器页面开着这一情况的数据。这样的信息可以用来评估媒体文件的流行、媒体文件与搜索查询的相关度(当该文件被识别为搜索结果给该用户时),而且可以用来识别用户对嵌在网页内的媒体播放器周围的内容的感兴趣程度。
收集与媒体文件的检索有关的数据的方法包括下述步骤:向媒体设备发送一个用来播放媒体文件的嵌入媒体播放器页面并把媒体文件标识消息发送到日志服务器。媒体文件标识消息标识了该媒体文件。日志服务器在与媒体文件相关的日志中记录该媒体文件已经被用户选择播放。

“脚本”——一般是一个短程序,它是用一种像Perl或Java这样的解释性语言所编写的并且通常为数据和浏览器管理提供指令,
“脚本编写”——服务器或客户端程序设计,它对一个静态的HTML页面进行补充,它通常是用像Perl、Java、JavaScript这样的语言所编写的而且有时与公共网关接口(CGI)脚本结合使用。

数百万的媒体文件已经存在而且可以通过万维网从媒体文件源116得到。这些媒体文件中的许多符合流式媒体文件格式。当多种流式媒体文件格式存在时,绝大多数流式媒体文件已经被编码成REALAUDIOTM、REALVIDEOTM、MICROSOFT WINDOWS MEDIA FORMATTM、FLASHTM、APPLEQUICKTIMETM、MPEG-2 Layer III Audio和MP3中的某一格式。可以把某些文件比如MP3文件和QUICKTIMETM既当作流式传输(不被完全接收的)文件又当作被下载的(被完全接收的)文件使用。
系统100A还包括至少一个客户系统118,至少一个广告系统120,和至少一个媒体文件索引和日志系统122。每个系统118、120和122都被连接到因特网114上而且可以被配置为上述连同图1所述的计算机系统网络102。下面连同示范的嵌入媒体播放器页面的说明来详细说明每个系统。以下所用的,“嵌入媒体播放器页面”既是指控制浏览器的内容显示并指示客户机进行某些活动的基础代码又是指在浏览器窗口中被实际显示成网页的内容。
在说明示范的嵌入媒体播放器页面详细情况以前,对提供嵌入媒体播放器页面的一个优选方法进行说明。客户机110的用户利用因特网浏览器通过因特网114以上述方式访问客户系统118。客户系统118通过因特网114把网页发送给客户机110。客户系统118可以是例如一个Web门户站点,它提供了通过集中在一个位置上的公共接口对许多种信息的访问,例如体育新闻、世界新闻、天气信息、旅行信息等等。虽然文中把客户系统118作为Web门户站点进行说明,当然这决不是必要条件,并且客户系统118可以提供任何形式的内容和业务,例如客户系统118可以提供从选自门户站点的无线电台上流式传输而来的音频广播。
从客户系统118发送到客户机110上的网页包括媒体文件搜索提示。“可点击的”或接受来自用户输入的任意短语、图标等可以被视为对于用户做出选择的提示。把两个“可点击的”选项提供给用户本质上等价于用一个文字提示直接提示用户做出选择,例如,“请选择A或B”。通常,媒体文件搜索提示可以被配置为搜索窗口(这对于许多搜索引擎是常见的)并且提示用户输入媒体文件的搜索标准,比如一个流式音频或视频文件。搜索标准被发送给客户系统118,然后它又通过因特网114把搜索标准发送给媒体文件索引和日志系统122。客户系统118可以许可这些搜索能力,否则就从提供该媒体文件索引和日志系统122的一个实体上获取搜索能力。
媒体文件索引和日志系统122包括其中有被索引了的多个媒体文件的数据库。媒体文件数据库最好是不包括媒体文件本身,而是包括对从系统100A里多个的媒体文件源116中可得到的媒体文件进行标识的数据。为数据库中被索引的各个媒体文件所保存的数据的例子包括该媒体文件的网址,比如用指向媒体文件的URI或URL形式,包括媒体文件的播放长度(即媒体文件在媒体播放器中从始至终播放所花费的时间量),包括媒体文件的唯一标识符,还包括媒体文件的类型(SMIL文件、音频文件、视频文件、REALAUDIOTM文件、WINDOWS MEDIATM文件等等)。数据库还可以包括说明每个被索引媒体文件的内容的描述数据,而且可以利用本领域技术人员所知的常规搜索引擎技术提供该数据库。一个已知技术利用一种称为“机器人”或“蜘蛛”的程序,该程序在文档(例如网页)搜索中预先遍历网络并建立在这些文档中所发现的关键词的大型索引文件。作为一个例子,音频文件的描述数据可以标识音频数据是否实质上是音乐、曲名、表演者、音乐类型、版权数据等等。
媒体文件索引和日志系统122通过因特网114把搜索结果发送给客户系统118,比如以XML格式。客户系统118把该XML结果转换成HTML(超文本标记语言)格式并把这个结果作为网页发送到客户机110上,该网页最好是包括链接列表,链接指向位于媒体文件源116上满足用户的搜索标准的媒体文件。作为一个例子,客户机110上的用户可以输入一个对“珍珠港”和“电影预告片”的搜索请求。该搜索请求被客户系统118接收并被发送给媒体文件索引和日志系统122,然后它搜索本地和远程数据库找满足搜索请求的被索引的媒体文件。假如五个流式视频文件被索引为满足用户的搜索请求,媒体文件索引和日志系统就把结果发送给客户系统118。这些结果可以包括每个视频文件的播放长度、每个视频文件的URI地址、视频文件的编码比特率、文件格式、对每个视频文件来说唯一的数据库标识符、每个视频文件的帧尺寸数据、或包含在该数据库中的任何其他信息。然后客户系统118把在定制的HTML页面中的搜索结果发送到客户机110上从而利用客户机110的浏览器显示给该用户。

参见图2,嵌入媒体播放器页面被显示在弹出窗口200内,该弹出窗口由客户机110的浏览器比如Microsoft Internet Explorer所生成。嵌入媒体播放器页面包括视频显示区域202(当嵌入的播放器播放视频文件时)和用来控制媒体文件输出的控制204。示范的控制204包括一个播放按钮、暂停按钮、停止按钮、滑动条、向前和倒带按钮,还包括一个用来显示与被流式传输的文件相关的缓冲状态信息的状态窗口。而后连同图2和3来对示范的嵌入媒体播放器页面的自动尺寸监控进行说明。
如果在步骤300中一个被选视频文件的帧尺寸数据是可得到的,即如果在媒体文件索引和日志系统122中它是可用的,那么在步骤302中嵌入媒体播放器页面接收被用户选择播放的视频文件的帧尺寸数据。在一个实施方案中,(如果该帧尺寸数据是可以从媒体文件索引和日志系统122中得到的,则)把帧尺寸数据从媒体文件索引和日志系统122发送到客户系统118,然后它和搜索结果一起被转发给客户机110。当用户选择一个视频文件收看时,就把嵌入媒体播放器页面从客户系统118发送到客户机110。然后嵌入媒体播放器页面可以使用被转发给如上所述的客户机110的帧尺寸数据。作为选择,一旦该用户做出视频文件选择,该选择提示把嵌入媒体播放器页面发送给客户机110,就可以把帧尺寸数据和嵌入媒体播放器页面一起转发到客户机110。如果帧尺寸数据不是可得到的,在步骤301中嵌入媒体播放器页面就用缺省值,它和嵌入媒体播放器页面一起被发送。已发现视频显示区域202的宽202b为780像素并且高202a为348像素的缺省值一般比较合适,尽管其他数值也可以用。
帧尺寸数据最好是包括要和嵌入媒体播放器页面一起播放的视频文件的帧高度值和帧宽度值。这些值可以标识视频文件的视频数据中各个帧高上的像素总数和视频文件的视频数据中各个帧宽上的像素总数。当步骤304在嵌入媒体播放器页面内启动(即操作或运行)媒体播放器时,它被嵌入媒体播放器页面调用作为一个对象。在步骤306,根据所接收帧尺寸数据或者该缺省尺寸值(如果在步骤300视频文件的帧尺寸数据不是可得到的)动态调整视频显示区202的高202a度和宽202b度(图2)。
根据帧尺寸数据动态调整视频显示区202的大小从而把视频文件数据(例如图片)显示成希望的尺寸或者它的某个适当比例。尤其是就SMIL文件来说,与现有的嵌入媒体播放器页面相比,视频数据被以非修剪方式显示,而修剪视频数据的现有的嵌入媒体播放器常常使视频数据无法观看或者至少不令人满意。
在步骤308,根据帧尺寸数据而且因此部分地基于视频显示区202的大小调整来调整其中显示着嵌入媒体播放器页面的弹出窗口200的尺寸。弹出窗口200被调整大小以容纳被动态调整尺寸的视频显示区202、控制204和嵌入媒体播放器页面的任何其他内容。例如,可以基于一个预定规则调整弹出窗口200的高200a度和宽200b度,该规则将弹出窗口的尺寸200a、200b和视频显示区202的尺寸202a、202b关联。在一个示范的实施方案中,与嵌入媒体播放器页面相关的JavaScript文件(即和嵌入媒体播放器页面一起被发送到客户机110的)按照预定规则调整弹出窗口200的各种属性,比如MicrosoftInternet Explorer浏览器窗口的HSPACE、BORDER和/或VSPACE属性。
示范的嵌入媒体播放器页面还包括沿着视频显示区202的至少一边203所显示的内容。仅举几个内容类型的例子,这个内容可以包括例如广告206、商标徽标208、搜索窗210a和搜索命令按钮210b。在步骤310把这个内容动态地设置在嵌入媒体播放器页面内。可以调整播放器页面的尺寸,进而调整弹出窗口200的尺寸以便为视频显示区202的至少一边203和弹出窗口200的边201之间的内容留出足够的空白。
再有,基于预定的规则确定这个内容相对于弹出窗口200的边201和视频显示区202的边203的定位,比如这样一个规则,使例如商标徽标208中心地设置在视频显示区202的被选边203和弹出窗口200的被选边201之间,或者使广告206中心地设置在弹出窗口200的两个对边201之间。可以类似地设置控制204。至少部分基于帧尺寸数据,预定规则甚至可以相对不同的边201、203动态地安置内容。例如,如果帧尺寸数据指定特别大的宽202b给视频显示区,并且已确定极宽的弹出窗口不美观或者是麻烦的,则所选内容可以被放置在视频显示区202的上放或下方而不沿着视频显示区202的一侧边缘203或几边203。
搜索窗210a和搜索命令按钮210b允许用户请求在媒体文件索引和日志系统122中被索引的搜索媒体文件,比如视频文件。可以在上述的原始搜索结果页面中把搜索结果显示给用户。然后该用户通过选择如上所述的媒体文件从而可以在第二个弹出窗口中启动另一个嵌入媒体播放器页面。还可以在嵌入媒体播放器页面中显示媒体类型检验栏虚框(未示出)从而允许用户限定对特定媒体类型的搜索,比如WINDOWS MEDIA文件或MP3文件。
如结合图1A所述的,嵌入媒体播放器页面包括指向一个或多个广告的参考,该广告将由至少一个广告系统120所提供从而显示成嵌入媒体播放器页面中的内容。指示客户机请求广告包括在嵌入媒体播放器页面中的广告参考的一个例子是:<IMGSRC=http://theadservercompany.com/ad.GIF>。IMGSRC命令把名为“ad.GIF”的文件(位于theadservercompany.com上)识别为将被显示在嵌入媒体播放器页面中的屏幕图像。

命令“ADSERVER TYPE”通知嵌入的媒体播放器它会访问基于视频的广告服务器。嵌入的媒体播放器从“adserver.adsite.com”上的广告系统120中定位并且请求流式媒体文件“adspace.asx”。该流式媒体文件被流式传输到客户机110并由嵌入的媒体播放器输出到窗口206中,它利用预先分配的区域来显示流式媒体和静态(静止的图片)广告。客户系统118通过HTML代码指示客户机110在100水平像素乘80垂直像素的窗口206中显示该流式媒体文件。可以按照视频文件(如上所述)的大小用尺寸控制算法选择该广告窗的大小。在这个例子中,客户系统118用4除水平和垂直方向上所分配的像素(400/4=100,320/4=80)。这个过程为窗口206限定了一个100水平像素乘80垂直像素的面积以显示流式媒体广告。如果弹出窗口200被变更或被重新调整大小,客户机110就可以调整窗口202和206的面积大小。
再参见图2,嵌入媒体播放器页面还可以包括指向媒体文件源116上的媒体文件的超链接214。这允许用户直接链接到媒体文件上以便进行播放和用于书签标记。通过保存相应网页或文件的URI或URL,从而书签特别关联着网页或文件的位置。与不用书签进行访问相比,嵌入的媒体播放器与书签的关联可以给用户提供一个对特定位置上的媒体进行访问的更好方式。例如,利用嵌入的媒体播放器(与MP3PROTM兼容的,与书签相关联的播放器)代替一个标准的MP3播放器(允许作为缺省的媒体播放器)来优化通过书签定位的MP3PROTM媒体文件的播放。还有,嵌入的媒体播放器可以把一个特定的广告与一个书签关联。例如,对同一个媒体文件,用启动REALAUDIOTM播放器的书签播放该媒体文件的人会收到与用启动QUICKTIMETM播放器的书签进行播放所不同的广告。
此外或替代地,示范的嵌入媒体播放器页面给该用户提供了一个“添加到收藏夹”选项,比如通过“可点击的”选项212。作如下解释,这个“添加到收藏夹”选项提供了散布广告的示范方法,从而无论一个媒体文件是音频、视频、文本还是多媒体文件也无论是流式还是其他文件传送模式,每当用户一重访该媒体文件时,就提供附加的广告收益机会。当该媒体文件确实是音频文件时,显然嵌入媒体播放器页面将一个音频播放器调用作为一个参考。既然这样,图2的嵌入媒体播放器页面不会包括视频显示区202,而会包括适当的控制204和本领域技术人员熟悉的专用于音频播放器的其他功能项。

当用户在步骤406中选择指向媒体文件的书签时,书签特别地包括使客户机110显示用来播放该媒体文件的嵌入媒体播放器页面所必需的信息。当用户选择书签时,客户机110通过浏览器使用书签的URL地址来启动嵌入媒体播放器页面。像步骤400那样,再次把该嵌入媒体播放器页面发送到客户机110来播放该媒体文件,它被标识为该书签中的一个参数。该嵌入媒体播放器页面中所包括的由嵌入媒体播放器页面参考和框式支架所定义的其他内容也被显示出来。
如上所述,该嵌入媒体播放器页面中广告系统120的参考指示客户机110从至少一个广告系统120中比如通过一个HTTP请求来请求至少一个广告用于显示在嵌入媒体播放器页面中。因此,通过指向嵌入媒体文件而不是媒体文件,书签创建了给用户广告和商标印象的附加机会。这些印象提供与广告和商标相关的附加收入机会。如果书签直接指向来自媒体文件源116的媒体文件,则这些附加的印象和收入机会将是不可获得的。与嵌入媒体播放器页面相关联的脚本文件,诸如JavaScript文件可以创建这个书签。
如下解释,一个示范的嵌入媒体播放器页面还使与媒体文件播放有关的数据便于收集。参见图5,在步骤500把嵌入媒体播放器页面发送给客户机110进行媒体文件的播放。如上述解释,客户机110可以响应用户从搜索结果页面中选择媒体文件从而把这个步骤显示给该用户。该步骤还可以响应对书签进行的选择,该书签指向如上连同图4所述的一个嵌入媒体播放器页面。

嵌入媒体播放器页面最好还包括在步骤506当嵌入媒体播放器页面开着时指示客户机110发送至少一个后续消息的脚本编写。该后续消息被发送到媒体文件索引和日志系统122的日志服务器上。嵌入媒体播放器页面最好包括当嵌入媒体播放器页面开着时指示客户机110在预定的时间间隔发送一个消息的脚本编写。“开着”意思是嵌入媒体播放器页面被浏览器显示,比如在弹出窗口200中。在步骤508,把至少一个后续消息的时间戳保存在与该媒体文件相关的日志中。
在嵌入媒体播放器页面的一个示范性实施方案中,该后续消息还是对单像素GIF文件的HTTP请求,从客户机110中检索到的时间戳被附加给每个请求。例如每当嵌入媒体播放器页面指示客户机向广告系统120请求一个用来显示的新广告时,这些后续的请求就会发生,尽管还可以用其他周期间隔。在一个示范性实施方案中,当嵌入媒体播放器页面开着时,大约每30秒就请求这些广告。例如,如果嵌入媒体播放器页面包括每30秒请求一个新广告的脚本编写,那么只要嵌入媒体播放器页面开着,就大概每30秒把一个新条目添加到该媒体文件的日志中。
媒体文件索引和日志系统122最好为多个的媒体文件索引并保留日志。当被媒体文件索引和日志系统122所保留的日志用充足的数据提供时,可以处理这些数据,比如用一个运行在媒体文件索引和日志系统122上的软件程序,以便提供有价值的信息。例如,在媒体文件索引和日志系统122中每个被索引的媒体文件已经被客户系统118所提供的嵌入媒体播放器页面的用户选择播放了的总次数(在被选期间的总次数)可以从该日志中被识别。这个信息提供了未处理的流行数据并虑及媒体文件的流行的顺序,至少在某种程度上根据该顺序结果在媒体文件索引和日志系统122中索引所述媒体文件。
进而,该媒体文件索引和日志系统122最好是包括对每个被索引的媒体文件的播放时间进行识别的数据。通过把已知的播放时间与媒体文件的日志服务器中的数据尤其是该日志中的时间戳相比,许多和该用户和播放事件有关的信息被收集。例如通过计算在被选择的记录在日志中的播放会话期间的媒体文件第一个和最后一个时间戳之间的时间差,从而可以计算出嵌入媒体播放器页面大概被用户打开的时间长度。将这个大概的时间长度与媒体文件的播放长度作比较就能够识别嵌入媒体播放器页面是否在媒体文件播放结束以后还开着或者嵌入媒体播放器页面在整个媒体文件放完以前就关了。
如果该嵌入的媒体播放器在媒体文件播放结束以后还保持打开着任何延长的时间段,则可以推断媒体文件在无人地播放或者媒体文件的内容不吸引用户的注意力。那样的话,该嵌入媒体播放器页面的其他内容对该用户来说已变得最重要。如果把嵌入媒体播放器页面配置成当嵌入媒体播放器页面开着时指示客户机110以一定的周期间隔请求新的广告,这就表示给该用户留下了附加的广告印象。例如,对嵌入媒体播放器页面在媒体文件放完以前关闭进行识别可以标识所播放的媒体文件与用户初始搜索请求有多相干或有多相关。这个信息进而又可以被用来评估可搜索数据库中所包含的描述数据,该数据库描述了一个被索引的媒体文件的内容或其他特征,并/或被用来评估用来提供数据库的方法。嵌入媒体播放器页面因而提供对媒体文件的访问,同时有利地生成了另一个产物——或许在该媒体播放器的位置上所生成的流行和相关度。
在嵌入媒体播放器页面的另一个实施方案中,提示一个用户评估被播放的媒体文件,比如通过用数字尺度评定该媒体。在这个实施方案中,嵌入媒体播放器页面指示客户机110把该用户所提供的评定信息发送给媒体文件索引和日志系统122,在这里对它进行处理和估计。
可以用方法及实行这些方法的装置的形式实施本发明。还可以用被实施在有形媒体中的程序代码的形式实施本发明,有形媒体比如磁盘、CD-ROM、硬盘驱动器或其他任何机器可读的存储介质,其中,当该程序代码被加载到像计算机这样的机器中并被其执行时,该机器变成用来实行该发明的装置。还可以用程序代码的形式实施本发明,例如不管它是被存储在存储介质中、是被加载到机器中并/或被其执行还是在某些传输介质上传输,比如在电线或电缆线路上、通过光纤或由电磁辐射,其中,当该程序代码被加载到像计算机这样的机器中并被其执行时,该机器变成用来实行该发明的装置。当程序代码段被实现在一个通用处理器上时,它们与该处理器结合以提供一个进行类似于特定逻辑电路的操作的独特设备。

Claims (33)

1.一种收集与媒体文件检索有关的数据的方法包括下述步骤:
向媒体设备发送一个用来播放所述媒体文件的嵌入媒体播放器页面;以及
把媒体文件标识消息发送到日志服务器,所述媒体文件标识消息标识所述媒体文件。
2.如权利要求1所述的方法,其中在与所述媒体文件相关的日志中记录所述媒体文件已被用户选择播放。
3.如权利要求2所述的方法,进一步包括步骤:从与所述媒体文件相关的所述日志中识别出所述媒体文件已经被选择播放的总次数。
4.如权利要求3所述的方法,其中所述日志服务器保留了多个日志,所述日志中的每一个都与来自多个媒体文件的一个相应媒体文件相关,该方法进一步包括:

14.如权利要求13所述的方法,其中所述日志服务器保留了多个日志,所述日志中的每一个都与来自所述多个媒体文件的索引中的一个相应媒体文件相关。

其中所述嵌入媒体播放器页面指示所述媒体设备大概在所述媒体文件在所述嵌入媒体播放器页面中开始播放时,把所述媒体文件标识消息发送到所述日志服务器,
其中如果所述嵌入媒体播放器页面在预定的时间间隔是开着的,则所述嵌入媒体播放器页面指示所述媒体设备在所述预定的时间间隔把一个后续消息发送到所述日志服务器,以及
其中所述日志服务器将所述媒体文件标识消息和每个后续消息的时间戳数据记录在与所述媒体文件相关的所述日志中。
16.如权利要求15所述的方法,进一步包括步骤:把所述媒体文件的播放时间长度与所述时间戳数据作比较来识别所述媒体文件是否在所述嵌入媒体播放器页面中被播放完。
17.如权利要求15所述的方法,其中当所述嵌入媒体播放器页面打开时,所述嵌入媒体播放器页面指示所述媒体设备在预定时间间隔请求来自广告服务器的广告,
其中从所述广告服务器接收到的每个广告都被显示在所述嵌入媒体播放器页面中。
18.如权利要求15所述的方法,其中所述嵌入媒体播放器页面指示所述媒体设备在所述广告被请求的所述预定时间间隔发送所述后续消息。
19.如权利要求15所述的方法,其中被发送给所述日志服务器的每个后续消息都包括一个对不可见的像素图形文件的超文本传输协议(HTTP)请求,
所述HTTP请求包括所述请求的时间戳数据、一个与所述用户相关的因特网协议(IP)地址,一个所述媒体文件的唯一标识符,一个被用于搜索所述数据库的搜索查询、一个在显示给所述用户的所述列表中的所述媒体文件的排列、或其组合。
20.如权利要求19所述的方法,其中所述日志服务器在与所述媒体文件相关的所述日志中记录所述请求的所述时间戳数据、与所述用户相关的所述因特网协议(IP)地址,该媒体文件的所述标识符,被用于搜索所述数据库的所述搜索查询、在显示给所述用户的所述列表中的所述媒体文件的所述排列、或其组合。
21.如权利要求20所述的方法,其中所述列表被从主机发送到所述媒体设备,该主机把所述嵌入媒体播放器页面发送给所述媒体设备,所述HTTP请求进一步包括一个所述主机的IP地址。
22.一种用计算机程序代码所编码的计算机可读介质,该程序代码用来指导处理器收集与媒体文件检索有关的数据,该介质包括:
一个第一代码段,用来指示媒体设备(110)在嵌入媒体播放器页面中播放所述媒体文件;以及
一个第二代码段,用来指示所述媒体设备(110)把媒体文件标识消息发送到日志服务器,所述媒体文件标识消息标识了所述媒体文件,
其中所述日志服务器(104)在与所述媒体文件相关的日志中记录所述媒体文件已被用户选择播放。
23.如权利要求22所述的介质,其中所述日志服务器(104)保留多个日志,所述日志中的每一个都与来自多个媒体文件中的一个相应媒体文件相关。
24.如权利要求22所述的介质,进一步包括:
一个第三代码段,用来指示所述媒体设备(110)大概在所述媒体文件在所述嵌入媒体播放器页面中开始播放时,把所述媒体文件标识消息发送到所述日志服务器(104);以及
一个第四代码段,用来如果所述嵌入媒体播放器页面在预定的时间间隔是开着的,则指示所述媒体设备(110)在预定的时间间隔把一个后续消息发送到所述日志服务器(104),以及
其中所述日志服务器(104)将所述媒体标识消息和所述后续消息的时间戳数据记录在与所述媒体文件相关的所述日志中。
25.如权利要求24所述的介质,进一步包括一个第五代码段,用来指示所述媒体设备(110)为发送到所述日志服务器的所述媒体文件标识和每个后续消息发送时间戳数据给所述日志服务器(104)。
26.如权利要求25所述的介质,进一步包括:
一个第五代码段,用来当所述嵌入媒体播放器页面打开时指示所述媒体设备(110)在预定时间间隔请求来自广告服务器的广告;
一个第六代码段,用来在所述嵌入媒体播放器页面中显示从所述广告服务器接收到的每个广告;以及
一个第七代码段,用来指示所述媒体设备(110)在所述广告被请求的所述预定时间间隔发送所述后续消息。
27.如权利要求24所述的介质,其中被发送给所述日志服务器(104)的所述后续消息包括一个对不可见的像素图形文件的超文本传输协议(HTTP)请求。
28.一种用计算机程序代码所编码的载波所实现的数据信号,该程序代码用来指导处理器收集与媒体文件检索有关的数据,该数据信号包括:
一个第一代码段,用来指示所述媒体设备(110)在嵌入媒体播放器页面中播放所述媒体文件;以及
一个第二代码段,用来指示所述媒体设备(110)把媒体文件标识消息发送到日志服务器,所述媒体文件标识消息标识了所述媒体文件,
其中所述日志服务器(104)在与所述媒体文件相关的日志中记录所述媒体文件已被用户选择播放。
29.如权利要求28所述的数据信号,其中所述日志服务器(104)保留了多个日志,所述日志中的每一个都与来自多个媒体文件中的相应一个媒体文件相关。
30.如权利要求28所述的数据信号,进一步包括:

其中所述日志服务器(104)将所述媒体文件标识消息和所述后续消息的时间戳数据记录在与所述媒体文件相关的所述日志中。
31.如权利要求30所述的数据信号,进一步包括一个第五代码段,用来指示所述媒体设备(110)为发送到所述日志服务器的所述媒体文件标识和每个后续消息发送时间戳数据给所述日志服务器(104)。
32.如权利要求30所述的数据信号,进一步包括:
一个第五代码段,用来当所述嵌入媒体播放器页面打开时,指示所述媒体设备(110)在预定时间间隔请求来自广告服务器的广告;
一个第六代码段,用来在所述嵌入媒体播放器页面中显示从所述广告服务器接收到的每个广告;以及
一个第七代码段,用来指示所述媒体设备(110)在所述广告被请求的所述预定时间间隔发送所述后续消息。
33.如权利要求30所述的数据信号,其中被发送给所述日志服务器(104)的所述后续消息包括一个对不可见的像素图形文件的超文本传输协议(HTTP)请求。
