Abstract

Description

显示电视节目推荐的方法和装置
本发明的技术领域
本发明涉及电视节目推荐器，尤其是用于显示电视节目推荐的方法和装置。
本发明的背景技术
由于电视观众可能得到的频道数目已经增加了，同时这些频道上可获得的节目内容的多样性也增加了，对于电视观众来说，确定感兴趣的电视节目变得日益复杂。过去，电视观众通过研究印刷的电视节目指南确定感兴趣的电视节目。通常，上述印刷的电视节目指南包含按时间和日期、频道和标题列出可获得的电视节目的表格。由于电视节目数目的增加，使用上述印刷指南有效地确定想要的电视节目已经变得日益困难。
最近，电视节目指南已经可以采用电子格式，这种节目指南经常被称为电子节目指南(EPG)。和印刷的电视节目指南一样，EPG包含按时间和日期、频道和标题列出了可用的电视节目的表格。有些EPG还允许电视观众根据个人喜好分类或搜索可获得的电视节目。而且，EPG还允许可获得的电视节目的屏上显示。
在EPG允许观众比传统的印刷指南更有效地确定想要的节目的同时，它也受到许多限制，如果能够克服这些限制，就能进一步提高观众确定想要的节目的能力。例如：许多观众对某类节目有特殊的偏好或偏见，例如动作节目或体育节目。因此，可以将观众偏好加到EPG上，来得到一组为特定观众感兴趣的推荐节目。
因此而提出或建议了许多推荐电视节目的工具。例如，加利福尼亚Sunnyvale的Tivo公司市场供应的TivoTM系统，允许观众使用赞成和反对的特征来评定节目，从而分别表示观众喜欢和不喜欢的节目。随后，TiVo接收机与记录的观众偏好与接收到的例如EPG的节目数据匹配，产生适合每个观众的推荐。
因而，上述推荐电视节目的工具提供了对观众可能喜爱的节目的选择。然而，即使采用上述的节目推荐，对观众来说，从所有的选项中确定感兴趣的节目仍然很困难。因此需要一种更有效地显示电视节目推荐的方法和装置。进一步还需要一种以允许用户有效地处理推荐以确定感兴趣的最佳节目的方式显示大量节目的电视节目推荐的方法和装置。
发明概述
总体来说，本发明公开了一种用于将可获得的电视节目与由电视节目推荐器分配给各个节目的推荐分数的指示一起显示的方法和装置。节目和对应的推荐分数信息能够一起向用户显示，例如，使用按时间和日期、频道和标题列出可用的电视节目的表格。
根据本发明的特征，与每个节目相联系的数字推荐分数也向用户显示。数字推荐分数可以直接和每个节目一起显示，或者映上色谱或别的可视标志，例如变化的文字大小或闪烁速度，这使得用户能够快速定位感兴趣的节目。根据本发明，将可视标志则被加到节目表格中的每个节目上。
本发明可以根据查看时段内校正的推荐分数对节目表格中的电视频道排序。对于给定的半小时时段，节目表格可以直接按照推荐分数排序，从而具有最高分数的节目位于所列节目表格的顶端。同样，对于大于半小时的时段，校正的分数可以按感兴趣的时段分配给每个频道，节目表格则可以根据校正的分数排序，从而具有感兴趣的时段最高校正分数的频道位于所列节目表格的顶端。

详细说明
图1说明了按照本发明的电视节目推荐器100。如图1所示，电视节目推荐器100评估电子节目指南(EPG)110中的每一个节目，来确定特定用户感兴趣的节目。一套推荐的节目可以使用机顶终端/电视150和例如公知的屏上显示技术显示给用户。
根据本发明的一个特征，可获得的节目与由电视节目推荐器100分配给每个节目的推荐分数的指示一起显示。节目可以使用例如按时间和日期、频道和标题列出的可获得电视节目的表格来显示。在另一变化中，数字分数可以映上色谱或别的可视标志，例如变化的文字大小或闪烁速度，使得用户能够快速定位感兴趣的节目。在又一个变化中，数字分数可以映上可变的亮度级别(灰度级别)。然后这些可视标志可以加到节目表格中的每个节目上。
例如：在一个实施例中，电视节目推荐器100给每个节目分配0到100之间的分数，分配给每个节目的推荐分数可以按下面的方式映上色谱或文字大小的可视标志：

如图1所示，电视节目推荐器100包括节目数据库200，它将结合图2在下面进一步讨论，和显示推荐处理300，它将结合图3在下面进一步讨论。通常，节目数据库200记录了给定时间段中可获得的每个节目的信息。显示推荐处理300将可获得的节目和通过电视节目推荐器100分配给每个节目的推荐分数的指示一起显示。
电视节目推荐器100可以具体为任何电视节目推荐器110，比如加利福尼亚Sunnyvale的Tivo公司市场提供的TivoTM系统，或美国专利申请所述的序列号＿，＿＿提交，标题“用于使用决策树推荐电视节目的方法和装置”(代理人No.700772)和序列号＿，＿＿提交，标题“贝叶斯定理的电视节目推荐器(代理人No.700690)”的美国专利申请的电视节目推荐器110，在此进行修改来实现本发明的特征与功能。
图2是图1的节目数据库200的示意表，记录了给定时间段中可获得的每个节目的信息。如图2所示，节目数据库200包括许多记录，例如205-220，每个与一个给定的节目相联系。对每个节目，节目数据库200分别在字段240和245显示与节目相关联的日期/时间和频道。另外，每个节目的标题和类型在字段250和255标识。其它公知的属性(未示出)，例如演员，持续时间，和节目的说明也可以包括在节目数据库200中。
按照本发明的一个特征，节目数据库200还在字段270记录了通过电视节目推荐器100分配给每个节目的推荐分数的指示。用这样的方式，数字分数可以在电子节目指南中直接与每个节目一起显示给用户，或映上色谱或别的可视标志，使得用户能够快速定位感兴趣的节目。
图3是描述了体现本发明原则的示范的显示推荐处理300的流程图。如图3所示，开始，显示推荐处理300在步骤3 10获得感兴趣的时间段的电子节目指南(EPG)110。此后，在步骤320，显示推荐处理300从推荐器100获得感兴趣的时间段中每个可获得的节目的推荐分数。然后，显示推荐处理300在步骤330将推荐分数映上希望的可视标志，例如颜色或文字大小。最后，显示推荐处理300在步骤340将修改过的节目表格显示给用户，其中每个可用的节目和推荐分数或期望的可视标志一起显示。此后用户可以使用已知的技术交互操作修改过的节目表格，例如，选择节目，自动记录节目或设定预警，从而在出现特定节目时能自动通知用户。
图4A是按照本发明第一实施例的电子节目指南400的示意表。具体地说，图4A的实施例直接将每个节目和推荐分数一起显示。从而，用户可以查阅电子节目指南400并快速确定具有最高分数的节目。
图4B是按照本发明第二实施例的电子节目指南400的示意表。具体地说，图4B的实施例将每个节目和按照上述方式映上色图的数字推荐分数一起显示。注意，对于颜色映射实施例，正如以上讨论的，可以在分数区域直接映射上给定颜色，或顺序地对一个分数映上一个颜色。从而，用户可以查阅电子节目指南400并快速确定与最强烈推荐的节目相联系的深绿色节目。
图4C是按照本发明第三实施例的电子节目指南400的示意表。具体地说，图4C的实施例按照如上所述的方式将每个节目和映在文字大小图上的推荐分数数字一起显示。从而，用户可以查阅电子节目指南400并快速确定带有赞成符号(↑)和大字体印刷的节目。
如前所示，对本发明进一步的变化允许电视频道按照查看时段校正的推荐分数在节目表格中排序。例如，对于给定的半小时时段，节目表格可以直接按照推荐分数排序，从而具有最高分数的节目位于所列节目表格的顶端。同样，对于大于半小时的时段，校正的分数可以按感兴趣的时段分配给每个频道，节目表格则可以根据校正的分数排序，因此具有感兴趣的时段最高校正分数的频道位于所列节目表格的顶端。
在一个说明性的实施例中，频道的校正分数可以按下列方式计算。首先，获得给定时间内所有显示在频道上的节目的分数s1，s2，…，sn(其中0≤si≤100)。然后，通过加权因子wi校准每个分数si。频道的校正分数是这些校准的加权值w1 *s1+w2 *s2+…+wn *sn的和。加权因子可以如下查找：如果si＞95，则wi＝100；如果si小于95但大于50，则wi＝10；如果si小于或等于50，则wi＝1。其结果是，对主要推荐的节目给予重加权，对不那么主要推荐的节目给予较小的加权(对中性的和未推荐的节目给予最小的加权)。推荐节目越多的频道得到的校正分数越高。当然，存在对这种校正方案的变化，对本领域普通技术人员来说是很显然的。
可以理解，此处所示的实施例和其变化仅仅是本发明原理的示例，对本专业技术人员来说，还可以在不偏离本发明范围和宗旨的基础上进行各种修改。

Claims (15)

1.一种显示可获得的电视节目的方法，包括步骤：
获得可获得的节目(110)的列表；
获得每个所述的可获得的节目(110)的推荐分数；
将上述可获得的节目(110)的列表和上述推荐分数的指示一起显示给用户。
2.如权利要求1的方法，其中上述推荐分数的指示直接提供上述的推荐分数。
3.如权利要求1的方法，其中上述推荐分数的指示是将上述推荐分数映上彩色图。
4.如权利要求3的方法，其中上述彩色图直接将上述的分数映上颜色。
5.如权利要求3的方法，其中上述彩色图顺序地对上述的分数映上颜色。
6.如权利要求1的方法，其中上述推荐分数的指示将上述推荐分数映上可变文字大小图。
7.如权利要求1的方法，其中上述推荐分数的指示将上述推荐分数映上可变闪烁频率的图。
8.如权利要求1的方法，其中上述推荐分数的指示将上述推荐分数映上可变亮度的图。
9.如权利要求1的方法，进一步包括步骤：
根据上述推荐分数给上述可用节目(110)的列表排序，产生可获得节目的排序列表；和
显示上述可获得的节目的排序列表。
10.如权利要求9的方法，其中上述显示步骤将上述可获得的节目(110)的排序列表和上述推荐分数一起显示。
11.如权利要求1所述的方法，每个上述可用节目(110)显示在至少多个节目频道中的一个上；
包括步骤：对每个上述节目频道计算校正推荐分数；
根据上述校正推荐分数给上述节目频道列表排序；和
按照它们各自频道的上述校正推荐分数显示上述可获得的节目。
12.如权利要求11的方法，其中每个上述节目频道的校正推荐分数NS以如下方式获得：
NS＝w1 *s1+w2 *s2+…+wn *sn，
其中sn和wn对应每个节目的分数和加权因子，n是在上述给定时间段内显示在上述频道上的节目。
13.一种显示可用的电视节目的系统(100)，包括：
存储计算机可读码的存储器；和
与上述的存储器耦合操作的处理器，
上述的处理器设置为：
获得可获得的节目(110)的列表；
获得每个上述可获得节目(110)的推荐分数；和
将上述可获得节目(110)的列表和上述推荐分数一起显示给用户。
14.如权利要求13的系统(100)，上述处理器设置为
根据上述推荐分数对可用节目的列表排序，产生可获得节目的排序表。
15.如权利要求13所述的系统(100)，每个上述可获得的节目(110)至少显示在多个节目频道之一上，上述的处理器设置为：
计算每个节目频道的校正推荐分数；
根据上述校正推荐分数对上述节目频道列表排序；和
按照各频道的上述校正推荐分数显示上述可用节目。
