本申请要求享有于2001年11月21日申请的美国临时申请60/332,038的优先权的权益。
技术领域
本发明涉及一种使用于自动化制造系统的电连接器,尤其涉及一种DIN连接器的改良,其可安装至一螺线管管体上以提供操作该螺线管所需电连接的电连接器。如本领域普通技术人员所了解,此类连接器现在已广泛的使用,且符合国际认可标准。
背景技术
本发明相关的连接器典型的具有四个(有时三个)接头。在有四个连接组件的情况下,两个可用于传导直流电源,另两个接头可用于串行数据网中数据线的连接器。该说明的实施例包含四个分离的接头组件。如希望仅提供三个接头,一个数据接头可典型的省略。
对该类型的连接器,希望可以更经济化的加工。尤其,希望使用绝缘位移连接(insulation displacement connection,IDC)电连接电线至一印刷电路板,该电线来自一包覆的电缆或绝缘电线,例如,在连接器的本体内。典型的,该连接器本体具有一绝缘的且由保护塑料包塑成型覆盖所有外部表面,要固定至螺线管或其它设备本体上的表面除外,以留一中央开孔用于将连接器本体安装至螺线管管体。因而,现有连接器经常覆盖有保护性包覆成型套,他们也因此被称作“模压”连接器。
该类型的连接器可具有包含一刺刀状外连接组件的连接组件,用于连接至安装瞬时连接器(instant connector)的螺线管或其它设备(如传感器)的相应的连接组件(如,刀口式接头)。然而,为保证与相对应连接器组件的对接,该螺线管本体上的刀口式接头可设置于不同的方位;也就是,因此,当加工该模压连接器时希望该模压连接器的外部接触组件可被设置于不同的方向,以便兼容各种类型的连接器布局及控制设备的设计,确保完成的连接器的正确连接。
本领域的人员可以理解控制设备可有不同的接触方位或接触结构以避免在工业自动网中设备连接的错误。因而希望具有可被安排在想要方位的模压连接器的各种连接组件及对接控制组件的连接组件组合,以满足市场的需求,且提供该类方位不会显著增加加工成本。
发明内容
本发明包含一用于接触组件的具有两部分的壳体。该壳体称作“插件”,因而该插件包含一具有大致方形或长方形外形的上(第一)部或一下(第二)部,且具有一临近各四边的接头(在说明的实施例中)。该上(第一)部可为一模压塑料部,其具有四个通道以收容四条来自一条反馈电缆的绝缘线。上部的各电线通道自一电缆输入侧延伸,并在一上壳体(部)上形成一横切的方形凹口。该下(第二)壳体部也可为一模压的塑料部,且其包含四个方形凹口或插孔。当上下壳体装配时,各凹口或插孔收容一与壳体顶部相应的方形凹口对准的接头。
各接头为一导电体,四侧设置形成一方形管状基部,各边具有一IDC接头以便各接头的一端具有在方形基部的相对侧对齐的第一与第二对IDC接头;因而,无论该接触组件在四个正交位置中的哪一个,都提供一对耦合一收容于上壳体部的一通道内的一电线的IDC接头。
各接头一侧有一延伸部,当该上壳体部与下壳体部装配连接至一印刷电路板时,该延伸部延伸至该上壳体部的相应缝隙,如在上壳体部上。
上壳体部与下壳体部的装配希望可由机器执行,也在分别收容于上部四个通道中的电线与相应的收容于下部的接头间建立电接触。该装配部(与印刷电路板)可包覆成型,一垫圈与垫圈托装配在下壳体部的下侧。
下面详细描述的优选实施例将使本发明进一步的特征与优点对本领域的技术人员很明显,该优选实施例结合附图且附图对各视图的相同部分标有标号。

具体实施方式
首先看图1,一标号为10的电缆包含一护套11及四条单独的绝缘线分别标为12、13、14、及15。
该电线12-15以将要描述的方式装配至模压连接器的上(第一)壳体部,该上(第一)壳体部标为17。该模压连接器包含一下壳体部18,如下面将描述的,其可被装配至上部17以形成一完整的壳体。
该电线12-15放置于上壳体部17的底部或对接表面的固持或线路通道,图1中分别标为20-23的四绝缘位移连接(IDC)收容于上部或下壳体部18的对接表面的凹口或插孔。当该上与下壳体部被装配并推压在一起时(最好由机器),对接表面接合,且通过将要描述的一接头的IDC特征将电线12-15分别连接至该IDC接头20-23。接头20-23收容于分别形成于该较低壳体部18上相应尺寸的凹口或插孔24A-24D。插孔24A-24D的结构应防止该IDC接头在凹口中转动。
如图2所示,该上部17的下侧或对接面包含四个通道或管路分别标为25、26、27与28,用于收容线12-15。各通道25-28交叉形成一缓释区或凹口。这些凹口标为30、31、32与33分别用于通道25-28。各凹口30-33截面大致为方形,适于收容一相应接头20-23的上部以完成该绝缘位移连接,固定并安置相应接头的上部。
请回到图1,有四个分别标为35、36、37与38的缝隙,分别自凹口30-33延伸至上部17的顶端。即,自各缝隙35-38至其相应的上壳体部17的相应凹口30-33有一贯穿通道以容纳相应接头的延伸部,如现在将要描述的。
现在转至接头,各接头可以相同以便为理解本发明仅需详细描述一个接头。再转至图4,接头20由导电金属制作,其由分别标为40、41、42与43的四侧壁形成一大致方形的管状体。各侧壁40-43包含一绝缘位移连接结构,如图4中用于侧壁41并标为45的那个。用于各侧壁40-43的各IDC连接结构相似,以便在下面的描述中仅进一步详细描述IDC结构45。
该IDC连接结构45包括一宽阔的导入部或嘴,当上部与下部装配在一起且对接面接触时,其开口接合电线12-15中的一条。该导入或导向部导向一延伸槽47,其下部围绕48。当电线接合并压迫槽47的切割边缘,而影响该端子与其相应电线之间的电气连续性时可释放压力。
从图4中可以看到因为侧壁40-43正交设置,各侧壁的相应IDC结构位于相应侧壁中央。相对侧壁的IDC结构43、45对齐以接合并分别连接相同的电线。即,在接头20情况下,其如图4所示上部将接合电线25并与接头20形成两独立、相对的IDC连接。接头20的上部将收容于形成在上壳体部17的下壁的凹口30内。如接头20自显示位置旋转90、180、270,则情况相同。
各IDC接头的一端形成一延伸部,如在图4中标为49的那一个,其收容并延伸至该上壳体部17的缝隙35,然后延伸于壳体上并形成一接头延伸部。该接头延伸部延伸于连接器的上壳体部17的顶部,在图3中标为52。用于另外接头21-23的相应连接器在图3中分别标为53、54与55。该接头延伸52-55的目的是为在各接头与相应印刷电路板(图6中标为76)间建立一连接,因为这在该类模压连接器中是普遍的。
现在返回图4,各IDC接头20-23(如在图4安排)的下部包含一对相对刀口状端子或手指状接头58、59,而形成一连接组件60用于收容该传感器或别的设备的一刀口状接头,该传感器或别的设备可与该瞬时连接器耦合。即,一传感器的刀口状接头被收容于手指状或刀口状接头58、59之间,并分别延伸于刀口状接头58、59设置的槽。
现在转至图1与图6,该上壳体部17的中心位置设有一开口63,当该两壳体部如图3所示装配时,该开口与该下壳体部18上的相应开口64对齐。该对齐的开口63、64提供一连续的通道以收容一安装螺丝,其用于将该模压连接器固定至其要耦合的传感器或别的设备。
参考图1,可以看到该下壳体部18的外围大致成方形,并包含一笔直的侧壁66,其上形成若干L形笔直的槽,如标为68的那一个。该槽68的目的(如在图1中看到的,其有三个足部面向一普通壁上的各个)是为允许包覆材料的附着,装配后包覆材料覆盖电缆10、电线12-15的末端,以及该上与下部17、18部;除开口63、64形成的通道,以及该下部18的底部。该槽68提供一将该包覆成型护套固定至该装配的连接器的方法。
现在转至图2,该下部17的下侧标为70,且其包含三个C形槽71、72与73用于收容该传感器或设备的相应刀口状接头,该传感器或设备可装配一连接器以及一直槽用于收容该传感器的一刀片状端子的连接组件。该说明的结构可根据应用改变。在图6中标为75的包覆成型件可不覆盖该下壳体部的底壁或槽71-74的任一个。该下壳体部18的中心位置是一中央孔洞78可收容一垫圈托80的一凸起的中央部79(图5)。在该垫圈托80与下部18间是一传统的密封垫圈81,其可插置在该下壳体部18与传感器或别的连接器安装的设备的本体间,较好的是由一上述的螺线紧固件完成。
本发明的已揭示的一优选实施例具有四个接头(本发明不限于四个接头,而对要求少量连接组件的申请同样适用),本领域技术人员将意识到揭示的结构是可靠的且由机器经济装配。该电线可被截为适当尺寸,并被机器装至通道25-28,接头20-24可通过机器的方式被装配至下部18的相应凹口24A-24D。该上与下壳体部可如图3所示由机器装配在一起,该步骤将实现用于各电线的双向IDC电气连接。该包覆成型过程也由机器完成。因此,本发明将被认为如揭示的那样提供一方便、经济及可靠的连接器。

Claims (4)

1.一电连接器包含:一可相互对接的第一与第二部;所述第一部包含若干可收容一绝缘线的通道;所述第二部具有若干插孔,各插孔在所述各部装配在一起时与所述通道中的相应一个对齐;以及收容于所述第二部的所述插孔中的一接头;各接头包括一对相对侧壁,各侧壁具有一绝缘位移连接结构,该绝缘位移连接结构可刺破放置在所述相应通道中的电线的绝缘套,以在第一与第二部装配时与电线建立电连接;其中各接头包含方形设置的四侧壁,以由两对相对侧壁形成一方形的管状基部,各侧壁的一边缘设有一绝缘位移连接结构,其包含一导向部;一旦所述第一与第二部装配,该导向部可用于接合与引导一相应电线。
2.如权利要求1所述的连接器,其特征在于各接头的各侧壁的所述绝缘位移连接结构位于其相应侧壁的中央,借助位于所述接头的相对侧壁上的该绝缘位移连接结构可与相同电线连接,以便当所述接头被放置在四个正交位置的任一个时与一相应电线建立两独立的连接。
3.如权利要求2所述的连接器,其中所述绝缘位移连接结构包括一宽阔的导向部及一弯折部,该导向部与一具有相对绝缘切割边缘的窄槽相通,该弯折部与所述槽的末端相接。
4.如权利要求1所述的连接器,其中各接头包括一对相对独立的手指状接头以收容一设备的连接组件,所述连接器可被耦合至该连接组件。
