Abstract

技术领域

背景技术
计算机断层扫描技术是一种为揭示人体内部器官和组织横截面,用来帮助医用诊断、检查、手术等而开发的现代无扩散技术。基本上讲,一束X射线束穿过某位置处的一个被检测成像物,例如人体。部分X射线束被被检测成像物的组织衰减,剩余的X射线束透过被检测物,投射到探测器上。探测器测量透过被检测成像物的射线束的强度。然后探测器把对应于此X射线的电子信号发送到计算机,计算机计算和存储射线束的强度,目的是重构被检测物的图像。
X射线束在一个平面里旋转到一个不同的角度位置,并进行类似的测量和记录,用来测量被检测物不同的部位。这个过程延续360度,此时,计算机利用记录的联合测量重构被检测成像物的一个横截面层片的二维图像。然后,X射线束通过移动受验者和重复此过程生成被检测物的一个新横截面层片的另一幅图像来横向移动。通过获得若干此类的横向空间层片,将它们一个叠加在另一个上,被检测物的某部分的三维成像可以由计算机构造。

更新的计算机断层扫描技术的发展使用一种可以产生锥形X射线束的射线源,取代了扇形射线束,而且一个二维探测器阵列取代了探测器的直线型阵列。此构造允许同时进行多个层片的扫描。在授予麦克科洛斯基(McCroskey)等人的美国专利5,023,895中揭示的相关计算机断层扫描技术的工业应用中,在计算机断层扫描技术里使用锥形射线束通过旋转一个放置物体的转盘进一步改进。
这些系统中都未提供一个用于扫描人体内部器官的简单、便宜的设备。而且,这些系统都未提供一个扫描过程中限制人体移动的满意的装置。
本发明提供一种相对便宜紧凑的计算机断层扫描系统和一种使用该系统的方法,在检测时快速精确地生成受检者身体截面的图像。
发明内容

还有另一个发明目的是提供一种改良的计算机断层扫描系统,它能够生成医用被检测物的精确图像,和现存系统相比只要较简易的设备和操作。
简要地说,首选的具体实施例包括一个射线源、一个探测器阵列、一个支撑结构、一个用于旋转支撑结构的装置、一个限制装置、以及一个成像装置。射线源将一个大致锥形的X射线辐射束投射到一个被检测物上,结果部分束透过被检测物投射到探测器阵列上。支撑结构支撑被检测物,并使被检测物沿着和X射线束垂直并相交的轴旋转,使得X射线束通过支撑单元旋转不间断地投射在被检测物上。限制装置加在支撑结构上,在旋转时,防止被检测物不必要的移动。探测器阵列探测透过被检测物的X射线束,并且作用产生对应于透过被检测物的射线束的电子信号。成像装置从探测器阵列中的一个探测器接收到电子信号,并且作用产生一个图像,该图象对应于此电子信号。
本发明的一个优点在于它设计简单,比其它医用计算机断层扫描器需要的配备更少,因此需要的维护更少。本发明的系统既不需要用来旋转探测器和X射线源的庞大、昂贵的设备,也不需要通过断层扫描器送入受验者。
另一个优点在于本发明在一次旋转中扫描被检测物,然而由于现有技术系统需要若干次旋转,因为它们使用扇形X射线束,和锥形X射线束正好相反。通过使用锥形X射线束,本发明不需要通过扫描系统送入被检测物。
此外,本发明的另一个优点在于低成本。系统不需要用于移动探测器和X射线源所必需的昂贵装置,也不需要如旋转X射线源和探测器的系统所需的那么多的校准。
此外,本发明的另一个优点在于简化校准过程,用于补偿射线源和探测器的移动产生的变化所需的校准成像。本发明不需要复杂的校准过程,所以它很可能比现有校准系统生成更清晰的图像。而且,其发明也变得更可靠,因为它的失效部件更少,而且操作更简便,降低了错误的可能,因此,所需的维护更少。

具体实施方式
本发明的X射线成像系统是一个用于人体或者动物体的内部器官成像的X射线计算机断层扫描系统。图1是本发明的一个具体实施例中,描述一个用于被检测物30的内部器官成像的X射线计算机断层扫描系统20的结构简图。被检测物30可以包括人体和动物体的器官。计算机断层扫描系统20包括一个射线源22,用来投射一个大致呈锥形X射线束28。
射线源22是在现有技术里已知的一类医用X射线成像的射线源。定位射线源22,使得从射线源22投射的射线束28沿一个路径投射到被检测物30上。
在首选实施例中,射线源22由计算机系统40控制,使得在有必要成像时,射线源22只投射射线束28。这样做避免被检测物30在有害辐射下的不必要的暴露。
X射线束28传播并投影在被检测物30上所经过的路径穿过一个光圈24,此光圈安放在射线源22前面,在射线源22和被检测物30之间。光圈24通过阻挡射线束28中一部分没有必要用于被检测物30成像的射线束来定位并限制X射线束28。光圈24能够控制束28的尺寸,也能控制束28投射到被检测物的部位。通过将射线束28的尺寸减小至被检测物30成像所需的最小尺寸,使得光圈24减小投射到被检测物30上的辐射量,因此使得被检测物30在有害辐射下的暴露最小化。
在首选实施例中,X射线束28在穿过限制X射线束28的光圈24后投射到被检测物30上。安装在射线源22上的一个激光目标设备(未示出)用来确定X射线束28的准确的路径。具有足够强度的X射线束透过被检测物30,投影到闪烁器34上。在首选实施例中,计算机系统40控制束28的强度,以至于它足够穿透被检测物30。换句话讲,束28可以预先调整到一个所需的强度。用在医用成像的这类强度在现有技术中都已熟知。
闪烁器34定位在光电二极管38阵列前面,光电二极管38阵列和被检测物30之间,使得X射线束28和闪烁器34相交。定位闪烁器34,使得X射线束28的路径大致垂直闪烁器34的平面。闪烁器34是涂上一层闪烁晶体材料的一片玻璃的矩形实心板。适用的闪烁晶体可以是涂上铊的碘化铯。闪烁器34把X射线的辐射能量转变成光能84。这一技术也在现有技术中已经很明确。
在首选实施例中,光能84传送到一个光电传感器或者一个探测器(未示出),例如一个高分辨率的透镜系统和一个电荷耦合装置(CCD)。光能84被高分辨率透镜系统聚焦到CCD上。CCD具有若干小光敏场,该光敏场可以在光能84通过高分辨率透镜系统之后吸收它。CCD生成电子信号58,该信号对应于由它探测的光能84。一个不透明的外壳覆盖除了和闪烁器34邻近表面以外的CCD相机38的每一个表面,以防止外界光在CCD相机38中产生假像。
计算机系统40通过分析碰撞在CCD的每一个光敏场上光能的量来分析电子信号58,生成被检测物30的一张影像图。在和闪烁器34相交之前,束28透过的被检测物的组织越多,闪烁器34转换的光能越少,并且碰撞在CCD的特定光敏场上的光越少。X射线束28透过的组织密度对碰撞到CCD的特定光敏场的光能具有相同的影响。X射线束28透过的组织密度越大,到达CCD的光能越小。计算机为以后的操作存储这个影像图。
支撑结构26以步进增量绕一个支撑结构26的垂直轴旋转。此旋转由计算机系统40通过控制电缆56来控制,使得在以每一增量旋转之后,由计算机产生一张影像图。可以生成足够多的影像图用来绘制被检测物30的图像。
在旋转时,支撑结构26支撑被检测物30,使得被检测物30保持在X射线束28的路径上。
气囊限制装置32用一个或多个铰链42加在支撑结构26上,使得气囊限制装置32能够绕铰链端旋转,用来把被检测物的一部分围绕在支撑结构26内。气囊限制装置32在和它铰链端相反的一端有一个插销46,它在限制装置32把被检测物30围绕住之后,把被检测物30固定到支撑结构26上。气囊限制装置32在支撑结构26的旋转76时限制被检测物30不必要的移动。在扫描时,由于被检测物几何尺寸从一个位置或角度改变到另一个位置或角度造成的被检测物30的移动会降低图像质量。计算机系统40通过从旋转每一个角增量得到的影像图编译数据生成断层扫描图像。如果被检测物30的几何尺寸在影像图之间有显著变化,计算机系统40将无法生成精确的断层扫描图像。通过在扫描过程中限制被检测物30,气囊限制装置32增加了成像的精确性。在可替换实施例中,另外一个限制装置,例如可用一个皮带来替换气囊。
转台36包括一个电动马达,它可以沿垂直轴旋转支撑结构26。这个马达由计算机系统40通过控制电缆56来控制。在捕捉到每一张影像图之后,计算机系统40通过控制电缆56把信号发送到转台36,使马达提前以另一个增量旋转转台36和患者支撑结构26。这个过程不间断到全部图像捕捉过程结束。
计算机系统40控制射线源22产生的X射线束28的投影定时。在可替换的实施例中,光圈24能手动调整。计算机系统40使用光电二极管38的阵列产生的电子信号58来生成图像。随后,计算机系统40在数据存储设备(未示出)中存储数据,例如在计算机系统内部的一个磁硬盘驱动器或半导体存储器。然后,计算机系统40通过向转台36中的马达发送电子脉冲来旋转被检测物30,投射另一束X射线28,并生成另一个图像。计算机系统40不间断这一过程,直到存储足够多的影像图,通过背景放映法生成一个完整的断层扫描图像。
计算机系统40通过一个背景放映重建图像的过程,使用所有存储的图像生成一个断层扫描图像。背景平面图像重建的过程在现有技术中已熟知。在本发明和现有技术中,医用X射线断层背景平面投影成像术的不同之处在于和现有技术相比,本发明可以有效地在同时扫描多个层片。现有技术的医用设备使用一个具有直线探测器阵列的扇形X射线束,而本发明使用一种具有一个二维探测器阵列38的锥形束28。本发明扫描的每一行93(如图4)等价于传统过程中获取的一片层片。本发明中这种安排允许它在一次旋转中扫描一个被检测物30,替代现有技术所需的多次旋转以及经扫描设备送入病人。本发明使用一种背景放映法,类似于美国专利号5,023,895中所述,在这里作参考。

图2描述一个本发明的可替换的实施例,其中一个光学系统用来扫描被检测物30。在这个可替换的实施例中,射线源22通过定位在源22和光圈24之间的第一块过滤板19投射X射线束28。第一块过滤板中的第一个过滤器通过吸收X射线束的低能量部分降低了X射线的能量级。第一块过滤板19进一步用对应于X射线束28的预确定的能量分布的厚度变化,使X射线束能量分布归一化。截取X射线束28更高的能量部分的第一块过滤板19的区域具有更大的厚度来吸收更多的能量,使得传送通过第一块过滤板19的X射线束28在穿过它的投影区域时具有更均匀的能量分布。第一块过滤板19也能够在光圈24和被检测物30之间定位。在通过第一块过滤板19之后,X射线束28由光圈24聚焦到被检测物30上。X射线束28被投射,使得一部分束28被被检测物30的组织吸收,一部分束28穿过被检测物30,碰撞在第二块过滤板21,它通过吸收X射线束低能量部分来降低散射的影响。第二块过滤板21安装在闪烁器34前面,闪烁器34和被检测物30之间,并和X射线束28的路径相垂直。

图5表示本发明的首选实施例的患者支撑结构26。患者支撑结构26由透射X射线辐射的材料制成。这种材料包括低密度塑料结构或者其它低密度材料。患者支撑结构26具有半圆柱形,高度大约5英尺(1.524米)。

患者支撑结构26的内表面加上透射X射线辐射的材料的衬垫,使得扫描过程中,被检测物30很舒服地被支撑。这种材料包括低密度泡沫聚合体,例如氯丁橡胶或者泡沫胶。
一个可推卸、可调整的座椅62通过插入患者支撑结构26里的开槽,加在患者支撑结构26。患者支撑结构26包含几个在不同高度上的开槽,以适应在不同高度成像。开槽是半圆形的,其水平地处于患者支撑结构26的内表面。开槽比座椅62的边缘稍微厚一些,使得座椅62不用过多的外力就能够插入,并当被检测物30作上时,仍保持在通常的位置。为了舒适,座椅62加上衬垫。
气囊限制装置32由外杯60和内气囊88组成。杯60由透射X射线辐射的材料组成。杯60是半圆柱形形状,通过若干铰链42在杯60的一边铰接到患者支撑结构26。铰链42允许杯60绕铰链42旋转,使得和杯60的铰接一边相反的一边和患者支撑结构26相接触,两者形成一个封闭圆。和杯60的铰接42一边相反的另一边能够用插销46固定在患者支撑结构26上。铰链42和插销46都可以加在患者支撑结构26的不同高度上,因此使其能够限制不同的垂直位置。
气囊88加在患者支撑结构26的内表面,使得当杯60围绕被检测物30时,气囊88位于被检测物30和杯60之间。气囊88由一个透射X射线辐射的材料制成,这类低密度塑料诸如聚亚胺酯或尼龙。其它的低密材料诸如胶乳或氯丁橡胶也适用。
当成像正要开始时,气囊88充气,并达到旋转时限制被检测物30不必要的移动所足够的压力。任何可以大体上流体性的物质都适合气囊88的填充,空气是最安全最经济的。
在可替换的实施例中,气囊88可以由另一个限制装置替换,例如一个皮带,带子,或紧固件。
患者支撑结构26安在转台36上,它可由任何刚性材料制成。转台36包括一个电动马达(步进马达、伺服马达、或直流电动机),用来相对转台36的中心把患者支撑结构26旋转到一个精确的预置位置。电动马达由计算机系统40通过控制电缆56(图1)控制。患者支撑结构26加在转台36上,使得两者形成一个单元。
图6表示本发明的一个实施例中包括的一个头部支撑结构78,其用紧固件加在支撑结构26上,使得它能很容易地被拆除。头部支撑结构78由一个透射X射线辐射的材料制成,例如低密度塑料或者是布。头部支撑结构78在患者支撑结构26上延伸,如图6所示。
头部支撑结构78的顶部形成一个半圆柱形壳体,并具有与患者支撑结构26相同的功能。头部支撑结构78的顶部加上衬垫,和患者支撑结构26类似,当压在头部支撑结构78上时,限制被检测物的头部不必要的移动。
带子92把被检测物30的前额固定在头部支撑结构78上,在旋转和扫描过程中,限制被检测物的头部不必要的移动。
另外,可以采用和气囊限制装置32具有类似操作的设备,用来把被检测物30的头部固定在头部支撑结构78。应该配备此类设备,使得所述的气囊不会过度压迫面部软组织。
图7表示本发明的一个典型实施例,其为扫描不同高度位置使用高度调整。射线源22安在射线源支撑装置67上。射线源支撑装置67包括两个圆柱形轨道66和68,射线源22在轨道上能够在垂直方向72移动。
一个手动或自动设备用来操作升降射线源22,第二个此类设备用来操作升降探测器阵列50。此类升降设备能从很多商用来源获得。射线源支撑装置67使用一个装置,把X射线源支撑在轨道上用来扫描的适当的高度位置。
探测器阵列50安在探测器支撑装置74上。探测器支撑装置74,除了探测器阵列50代替射线源22锁定在位置上之外,其功用类似于射线源支撑装置67。一个升降设备也用来在垂直方向70移动闪烁器34。探测器支撑装置74的高度位置精确地对应射线源支撑装置67的高度位置,使得放射源22相对于探测器阵列50保持固定。这个结构减少了传统断层扫描系统中复原射线源22引入的不必要的非自然信号的校准量。
自动校准通过把X射线源22和探测器阵列50之间的关系固定为常量来进行。一个安在射线源22的激光目标设备(未示出)用来排列探测器阵列50。X射线能量的分布在阵列50的不同探测器之间被预确定和归一化。另外,在阵列50里的探测器之间的探测器灵敏度也能够被预确定和归一化。由于射线源22和光敏阵列50的相对位置,每一个生成的影像图用预确定的校准图像来校正解决异常图像。
图8所示的结构图,表示了本发明的一个实施例中的生成图像的工作流程。电子信号58由计算机系统40作为图像数据94准备,图像数据94表征在每一行93、列95以及旋转91角增量(如图4)的X射线束28的强度。图像数据94通过和预校准数据106比较进行校准96,通过将其和预校准数据106作比较,补偿异常的测量。预校准数据106是在被检测物30采用之前测量的强度。这个数据106和图像数据94作比较,补偿X射线束28里的不均匀能量分布。然后,电子存储校正的图像数据94。
在所有必要的校正图像数据94存储之后,编译数据94联合和支配背景放映102,产生断层扫描图像。背景放映102是一种构造断层扫描图像的确定方法。然后,断层扫描图像经过阵列到像素转换110,进而转化成像素图像,它既可以用二维也可以用三维物体描绘断层扫描图像。然后,像素图像在显示器112上显示,例如彩色计算机显示器或阴极射线管。
尽管本发明已经按照特定的实施例进行了描述,但是预计针对它的改进和修改对那些现有技术中的专家无疑将变得显而易见。因此,以下的权利要求旨在能够解释为覆盖所有的属于本发明的真正精神和范围之内的改进和修改。
Claims (25)
1.一种计算机断层扫描系统,包括:
一个X射线源,其沿着一个路径向被检测物投射一个大致呈锥形的X射线束,使得至少上述束的一部分透过上述被检测物;
一个探测器阵列,其探测透过被检测物的那部分射线束,并且作用产生电子信号,该电子信号对应于透过被检测物并投射到上述探测器阵列的射线束;
一个支撑结构,其用于支撑被检测物并且绕一个与射线束路径相交并大致垂直的轴旋转上述被检测物,在其内,上述被检测物受到限制,使得被检测物保持在上述束的路径中;
一个加在支撑结构上的气囊限制装置,用于把被检测物支撑在其位置上;
以及一个成像装置,用来产生一个图像,该图象对应于探测器产生的电子信号。
2.根据权利要求1所述的计算机断层扫描系统,它还包括:
一个光圈,其通过控制射线束的周缘外形来限制投射到被检测物的不必要的辐射量,上述光圈位于射线束的路径上,介于射线源和被检测物之间,因此使射线束能够只在被检测物要成像的部位照射。
3.根据权利要求1所述的计算机断层扫描系统,它还包括:
一个能量过滤器,用于降低低能量辐射和X射线束的二阶效应,上述能量过滤器位于X射线束的路径中,介于射线源和探测器之间。
4.根据权利要求3所述的计算机断层扫描系统,其中的能量过滤器进一步包括:
一个用于归一化X射线束强度的过滤板,上述过滤板具有一个变化的厚度,相应于和上述过滤板的每一部分相交的X射线束的强度,因此造成X射线束的强度在穿过它的投影区域近乎均匀。
5.根据权利要求2所述的计算机断层扫描系统,其中的光圈进一步包括:
若干板,每一块板不透射辐射,还包括一个定位系统,通过定位板控制射线束的周缘外形,限制射线束的周缘,上述板以此方式相交,形成一个开口,通过该开口限制射线束的投射。
6.根据权利要求1所述的计算机断层扫描系统,其中的气囊限制装置进一步包括:
一个固定装置,用于在被检测物周围固定气囊限制装置,使得被检测物旋转时被固定在支撑结构上。
7.根据权利要求6所述的计算机断层扫描系统,其中的气囊限制装置进一步包括:
一个充气装置,能够给气囊充入足够的气压,以保持旋转时被检测物靠在支撑结构上。
8.根据权利要求1所述的计算机断层扫描系统,其中的被检测物包括头部,并且气囊限制装置进一步包括:
一个头部限制,在旋转时,用来限制被检测成像物的头部。
9.根据权利要求8所述的计算机断层扫描系统,其中的头部限制进一步包括:
一个加在支撑结构上的头部支撑,用来支撑被检测成像物的头部;
加在上述头部支撑的气囊,在旋转时,用来保持被检测物的头部靠在头部支撑上,上述气囊至少包裹头部的一部分,从而在旋转时小心地保持被检测物的头部靠在头部支撑。
10.根据权利要求9所述的计算机断层扫描系统,其中的头部限制进一步包括:
一个充气装置,用来给气囊充入足够的气压,在旋转时,限制被检测物的头部靠在头部支撑上,因此在旋转时小心地限制被检测成像物的头部。
11.根据权利要求1所述的计算机断层扫描系统,其中的支撑结构进一步包括:
一个座椅,在旋转时被检测物坐在其上,座椅可拆卸,使被检测成像物在旋转时能够站立。
12.根据权利要求1所述的计算机断层扫描系统,其中的探测器进一步包括:
一个二维的闪烁器,用来生成一束光束,该光束对应于透过被检测物并投射到上述闪烁器的那部分X射线束;以及
感光设备的一个二维阵列,用来生成对应于上述光束的电子信号,上述阵列被定位,用于截取由闪烁器产生的光束。
13.根据权利要求12所述的计算机断层扫描系统,其中的探测器进一步包括:
一个光学装置,用于将闪烁器产生的光束聚焦在感光设备上,上述的光学装置被定位,使其和闪烁器产生的光束相交,并且把光束聚焦到感光设备阵列上。
14.根据权利要求1所述的计算机断层扫描系统,其中的探测器进一步包括:
X射线的一个二维阵列,用来生成电子信号,该信号对应于透过被检测物并投射到上述X射线探测器阵列的那部分X射线束。
15.根据权利要求1所述的计算机断层扫描系统,其进一步包括:
一个射线源支撑结构,用来在几个高度位置之一的位置上支撑射线源,上述射线源支撑结构把上述射线源刚性保持在上述高度位置之一的位置上;以及
一个探测器支撑装置,用来在对应于射线源支撑结构的几个高度位置之一的某一位置上支撑探测器,上述探测器支撑装置把探测器刚性保持在上述高度位置之一的某一位置上,因此使其可以在不同高度上成像,并且射线源和探测器相互之间保持相对固定。
16.根据权利要求1所述的计算机断层扫描系统,其中的成像装置进一步包括:
一个自动校准装置,通过固定射线源相对探测器的位置,归一化X射线束能量分布,并且调整由成像装置生成的图像,以补偿X射线束的强度变化和探测器的灵敏度。
17.根据权利要求1所述的计算机断层扫描系统,其中的成像装置进一步包括一个三维成像设备,用来生成三维图像,该三维图象对应于由探测器生成的电子信号。
18.生成图像的方法,包括:
使用气囊限制装置来限制被检测物相对支撑结构的不必要的移动;
旋转支撑结构;以及
沿着和上述支撑结构的轴相交并大致垂直的路径,投射一个大致呈锥形X射线束到上述被检测物,使得一部分X射线束透过被检测物并投射到探测器上;
测量投射到上述探测器上的那部分X射线束;
生成一个图像,该图象对应于透过被检测物并且投射到探测器上的X射线束的测定。
19.根据权利要求18所述的方法,包括:
通过控制投射到上述被检测物的X射线束的周缘外形,减少被检测成像物对于不必要的辐射的曝光。
20.根据权利要求19所述的方法,其中控制X射线束的周缘外形进一步包括:
提供若干块板,它们不透射辐射;并且在射线源和被检测物之间直接定位上述板,由此形成一个开口,只有一部分X射线束能够通过此开口并照射到被检测物。
21.根据权利要求20所述的方法,其中限制被检测物进一步包括:
给气囊限制装置充气,使得保持被检测物靠在支撑结构上,以防止当支撑结构旋转时被检测物的不必要的移动,因此,在旋转时小心地限制被检测物。
22.根据权利要求18所述的方法,其中的被检测成像物包括头部,进而其中的限制被检测成像物进一步包括:
限制被检测成像物的头部。
23.根据权利要求22所述的方法,其中的限制被检测成像物的头部进一步包括:
提供一个加在支撑结构的头部支撑,在旋转时支撑被检测物的头部;
把被检测成像物的头部靠在支撑结构上;
在头部支撑上固定一个气囊,使得气囊至少围绕头部的一部分靠在头部支撑上;以及
给气囊充气,使得被检测物旋转时其头部受限制,以防止不必要的移动,因此在旋转时,轻轻地限制被检测物的头部。
24.根据权利要求18所述的方法,其中,扫描一个被检测成像物包括自动校准,包括:
为一个三维X射线束提供一个射线源;
为探测三维X射线束提供一个探测器阵列;
固定射线源的位置;
固定探测器阵列的位置;
把一个三维X射线束从射线源投射到探测器阵列;
用探测器阵列测量X射线束;
计算穿过探测器阵列的测定的变化;以及
归一化探测器阵列的灵敏度,以补偿穿过探测器阵列的测定的变化,因而使得射线束强度变化的影响和探测器成像灵敏度变化减到最小,而且减少了限制装置的成像干涉。
25.根据权利要求18所述的方法,其中的生成一个图像进一步包括:
生成一个三维图像,其对应于透过被检测物并投射到探测器上的X射线束的测定。
