Abstract

Description

由带增强结构的金属薄板层制的蜂窝体
本发明涉及一种蜂窝体,它有一些用于流体从一端流向另一端的通道,尤其用作汽车内燃机废气催化反应器,蜂窝体由具有某种结构的金属薄板层或由光滑的和具有某种结构尤其波纹状的金属薄板层构成。
由WO-8907488例如已知上述类型的用金属薄板层制的蜂窝体。其中光滑的和波纹形的金属薄板堆垛并交替地上下叠层和缠绕。一些少量的金属薄板层设计为比其余的厚。这些较厚的金属薄板层用于提高堆垛的稳定性,尤其是当此堆垛插入外套管内时。然而在此堆垛内各厚度不同的金属薄板层的制备与更高的生产费用相连系。
在蜂窝体的某些使用场合,为提高稳定性并不需要制备各种厚度的金属薄板层。此外,原则上有利的是,为了减轻蜂窝体的重量和降低其成本,金属薄板层应制得尽可能薄。然而这一目的与提高蜂窝体的稳定性和有长期耐腐蚀能力的目的是矛盾的。尽管在蜂窝体的大部分区域内只产生甚至由很薄的箔片也能经受住的负荷,然而在采用厚度小于40μ尤其例如约30μ的箔片时存在两个难点。一方面生产薄的箔片以及尤其是与此同时这些箔片相互之间和/或与外套管的机械连接有困难。尤其在钎焊或熔焊如此薄的箔片时很容易产生孔洞。另一方面这种蜂窝体的端部在工作时受到由于脉冲流动引起的特别的机械负荷和严重的腐蚀和侵蚀。
还存在一些金属蜂窝体的应用情况,例如在两轮摩托车的废气净化装置中,其中由于高的机械负荷和/或腐蚀性负荷,迄今使用比较厚的厚度在80和120μ之间的薄片。真实情况是如研究所表明的那样,负荷往往只作用在端部区内。
因此本发明的目的是,创造一种在各种使用场合有足够稳定性和重量尽可能轻的蜂窝体,它耐腐蚀和机械上稳定。
按本发明通过一种具有权利要求1和9的特征的蜂窝体来达到上述目的。在从属权利要求中说明了这种蜂窝体的有利的进一步改进和设计。
按本发明的蜂窝体由具有某种结构的金属薄板层或交替地由基本光滑的和具有某种结构的金属薄层构成。具有某种结构的金属薄板层最好是波纹形的。通过交替地排列基本上光滑的和具有某种结构的金属薄板层或结构不同的金属薄板层构成了一些通道,它们允许流体从一端流到另一端。此蜂窝体尤其适用于作为汽车内燃机废气的催化反应器。为此,蜂窝体通道的壁上带有催化层,内燃机的废气沿着它流过。按本发明至少一部分金属薄板层的厚度小于40μ,尤其是约30μ。
通常,一个蜂窝体的全部金属薄板层有确定的相同厚度,典型的约40至60μ。按本发明为减轻蜂窝体的重量,至少一部分金属薄板层的厚度最好是全部金属薄板层的厚度减小到40μ以下。为了尽管如此仍具有足够的机械稳定性,至少那些厚度在40μ以下的金属薄板设附加的增强结构。
特别重要的是设在端部区的这些增强结构,在那里产生最大机械负荷并最好在那里将金属薄板层按接缝技术互相连接起来。在钎焊时例如基本材料被焊料熔成合金,从而在很薄的基本材料中有可能使其性质发生相当大的变化。若增强要钎焊的区域内的材料,则这一问题便不再出现。
在端部通过使金属薄板层边缘折叠可特别简单地获得增强。借助于这种方法使折叠区内金属薄板层的厚度加倍,与此同时没有显著地增加蜂窝体的重量或对蜂窝体其他的性质带来不利的影响。当例如通过钎焊将折叠的边连接在相邻的金属薄板层上时,在有的情况下甚至可能使蜂窝体在面对交变热负荷时获得一定程度附加的弹性。
在那些按接缝技术要与外套管连接的金属薄板的端部处折叠也可能是有利的。在这种情况下,增强对于制造耐久的连接也是重要的。
若例如按EP0454712B1所介绍的令其有某种结构的金属薄板层制有横向于主结构的附加结构,则也是非常有利的。这种附加结构的幅度比主结构的幅度小得多,本意是用来影响通过蜂窝体流动的流体,以便改善流体与蜂窝壁的接触。按本发明使用的薄的金属薄板甚至可以比厚度在40μ以上的金属薄板更容易制造横向结构和压成波形。这种微结构还意外地改善了薄的金属薄板的机械性能,从而可以避免在制造过程中金属薄板不希望的变形。这尤其是涉及沿两个交叉的方向相对于蜂窝体流通方向倾斜地延伸的微结构。
按照权利要求9所述,本发明还解决了在端部区具有高机械负荷和/或腐蚀性负荷的使用场合产生的问题。通过折叠端边通常可以增强任何箔片,而与边缘区内其原始厚度无关,所以按本发明即使对于极端的使用情况也可以采用比迄今更薄的箔片,但为此应在边缘区内采取增强措施。
由下面结合附图对实施例的说明给出本发明的其他优点、设计和使用可能性。其中:

图1示意表示即将制成前的蜂窝体。在本实施例中表示的是一种用金属薄板层螺旋形卷绕成的蜂窝体,不过以下的说明也适用于其他类型的蜂窝体,尤其是那种用S形扭结的金属薄板层制的蜂窝体或其他方式卷绕和层叠的蜂窝体。此蜂窝体1由交替排列的光滑的2和波纹形的3金属薄板层构成。波纹形金属薄板层3的波纹结构在制成的蜂窝体中形成通道4,废气可以沿流动方向S从一端7到另一端流过这些通道。波纹形金属薄板层3和/或光滑的金属薄板层2可以由厚度小于40μ尤其是约30μ的箔片构成。为了增强如此薄的箔片,设置微结构5是有利的,微结构的高度或深度可例如为10-50μ。因此,它们尽管比通道4的尺寸小得多,然而处于一个能使薄的金属薄板层2、3显著增强机械性能的数量级。
替代微结构5和/或除了微结构5之外,金属薄板层2、3的边可以折叠一个宽度b。于是折叠区9有双倍的厚度,所以边缘区的特性大体与传统的金属薄板层一致。因此总体上对于金属薄板的可操作性和其接缝技术方面连接的可能性,所提供的是与在传统的蜂窝体中一致的状况。所以折叠后的金属薄板除此之外可按已知的制造方法加工。通过折叠那些应与一外套管(图中没有表示)按接缝工艺连接的金属薄板层2、3的端区8可以获得相同的优点。此折叠在这里也造成了一种与在传统的蜂窝体中的一致的状况,所以一般的连接技术如钎焊或熔焊同样可以利用于将薄的金属薄板层连接在外套管上。
图2以非准确的尺寸比例表示按本发明在边缘折叠的波纹形金属薄板3的基本结构。折叠后的边区9造成沿宽度b的增强,所以端面7无论在机械方面还是在按接缝技术的连接方面均比没有增强的传统蜂窝体更稳定。因此,例如厚度为30μ的箔片几乎获得60μ厚的箔片的机械性能。50μ厚的箔片可获得迄今如在约100μ厚度时所具有的稳定性。但与此同时整个蜂窝体的质量保持得较小,所以尤其是改善了冷起动特性。
图3示意表示了微结构5的走向,它们设计为在交叉点6相交。在这里所画的蜂窝体片段表示了一种带交叉6微结构5的波纹形金属薄板3。当然这种交叉的微结构不仅对波纹形金属薄板有利,而且制在光滑的金属薄板层2上也有明显的优点,因为它们给予这些金属薄板以更大的机械刚度,然而并没有对其在生产过程中的灵活性有过分的限制。
应当指出,本发明适用于所有已知的由金属薄板层构成的蜂窝体,与采用何种结构型式和使用何种为提高机械稳定性的接缝技术无关。本发明对于用S形扭结的金属薄板层的堆叠制成的蜂窝体是特别有利的。此外,本发明还特别好地适用于由交替的不同波纹形的金属薄板层构成的蜂窝体。
具有按本发明的至少部分金属薄板层减小了的厚度和附加增强结构的蜂窝体,特别适合于在不出现严重腐蚀应力的情况下应用。具有一般金属薄板厚度和增强结构的蜂窝体现在也适合于在由于高负荷迄今使用较厚金属薄板的场合下使用。
对于那些尤其在汽车的发动机附近区域内使用的蜂窝体,为了冷起动阶段中的特性和在以后的重新起动中重要的可能是质量沿轴向的分布。为此也可以有目的地采用折叠,以便在部分区内增加或不增加质量。
折叠还可以在可电加热的催化剂中有目的地影响电阻、电阻沿轴向的分布以及在电加热时产生的热量分布。在这一方面,折叠的金属薄板层可在许多已知的加热式催化剂结构类型中用来替代一般的金属薄板层,无需显著改变基本结构和制造方法。在电流通过空气间隙分布的蜂窝体中,最好全部金属薄板层均采用的折叠的金属薄板有助于其稳定性,而且对端部的机械负荷不敏感。与此同时,此折叠的区域由于那里产生(与其余部分相比加倍的)电阻热而形成了一些特别热的(沿轴向)区域,这对于催化剂的快速反应可能是十分有利的。

Claims (9)

8.按照前列诸权利要求之一所述的蜂窝体,其特征为:蜂窝体包括第一种厚度的光滑金属薄板层(2)和第二种厚度的具有某种结构的金属薄板层(3),其中,全部具有某种结构的金属薄板层(3)比光滑的金属薄板层(2)至少薄5μ,最好薄10μ。
9.蜂窝体(1)有一些用于流体从这一端(7)流到另一端的通道(4),它最好用作汽车内燃机废气的催化反应器,尤其用作可电加热的催化反应器,蜂窝体由具有某种结构(3)的金属薄板层或光滑的(2)和具有某种结构(3)的金属薄板层构成,其特征为:至少一部分金属薄板层(2、3)的边缘,在至少一个端部(7)是折叠的,并最好在一个宽度(b)为1至10mm尤其3至5mm的范围内。
