由EP0454712B1已知这样一种金属蜂窝体。
按EP0454712B1制作的蜂窝体的工作令人极为满意。
鉴于金属蜂窝体设有起催化作用的含贵金属的表面,所以力求尽最大可能减少贵金属的含量,从而能降低催化器的造价。
以此为出发点,本发明的目的是进一步改进已知的蜂窝体,提高蜂窝体的催化效果。
按本发明通过权利要求1特征部分所述之特征达到此目的。有利的进一步设计是从属权利要求的内容。
出人意外地得到了证实,使微观结构互相交叉,产生了附加的流动技术方面的效果。此流动技术方面的效果指的是,互相交叉的微观结构强化了边缘流与核流的混合。因而改善了气体与各流动通道起催化作用的表面之间有利的质量转移。无论是产物的排出还是将离析物输往有效的催化表面都得到了改善,因为现在流动本身有一个朝表面方向的分量,所以,这一流动分量促进了向起催化作用的表面的传输。
业已证实,流动效果取决于交叉点的位置。
取决于交叉点所在的位置,可发生非常强烈的混合。若微观结构在波峰上相交,则导致流动有强烈的缠结特性。
还可以这样来影响流动特性,即,将微观结构的交角设计得比较小。两个微观结构之间的流动不可能是平稳的,所以在流动的内部发生强烈的搅动。
按本发明,由波纹形和平整的金属薄板卷绕而成的蜂窝体中,平整的薄板也有微观结构,这种微观结构沿薄板纵向延伸。一种横向于薄板纵向延伸的微观结构的设计,迄今在生产工艺中没有实现,因为卷绕这样一种平整薄板所需要的力很大,这就要求使用能产生较大的力量的工具,以便完成薄板的卷绕。此外,发现薄板起皱。
采用在平整薄板上设计交叉结构的建议,现在便可以不用费更大的力量来卷绕此平整的薄板,与此同时达到了改善混合的目的。此外,还提高了蜂窝体的稳定性。微观结构的横断面形状,例如可与在EP0454712B1中介绍的一致。
