Background
The livestock and poultry product is one of important foods for human to live, and due to continuous development of industry, climate warming, deterioration of breeding living environment and continuous occurrence of unknown viruses such as influenza virus, livestock and poultry plague virus and the like, in order to resist virus and bacteria, the livestock and poultry feed and the breeding process are added with artificial antibiotics, hormones, pigments, inorganic metal compounds and other products to resist virus and diseases, so that the livestock and poultry product generates multiple drug resistance, toxic and side effects and drug residues, and the health of human is seriously threatened. With the development of society and the improvement of material civilization, the health care, food sanitation and food safety awareness of livestock and poultry are continuously enhanced, people pursue healthy food materials and life quality, and livestock and poultry products which are nutritional, sanitary, safe and free of artificial antibiotics, artificial hormones, artificial pigments and heavy metal residues are deeply concerned and expected by people and are also the prospect and the direction of livestock breeding development.
The Chinese herbal medicine is a product of Chinese specific traditional medicine theory and practice, has rich resources and long application history, has thousands of years of history in the application of agricultural planting and breeding industry, is nontoxic or low-toxic and free of drug resistance, is rich in various organic compound elements, immunocompetent substances, nutrients and virus-resistant elements, and can replace the synthesis of exogenous hormones and antibiotics. At present, the technical cases of Chinese herbal medicines as the chicken feed additive are many, but due to different research points and different methods, the effect of breeding is not single: emphasizes on promoting growth and failing to improve the product quality; the product quality is enhanced and improved, and the culture benefit is low; emphasis is placed on the benefits and quality of cultivation, and the risks of diseases and bacteria cannot be well prevented; and the physiological structure of the chicken is special, the intestinal tract is short, the absorption capacity is weak, the stay time of the feed in the intestinal tract is short, the nutrient can be absorbed by only 35 to 45 percent, most of the nutrient is discharged from the intestinal tract, and a large amount of feed waste is caused.
