Abstract

本发明涉及显示驱动器以及半导体装置。目的在于提供能够谋求小规模化的显示驱动器以及形成有该显示驱动器的半导体装置。在显示驱动器设置有将多个伽马校正数据片按照每个规定期间一个一个地送出的伽马校正数据送出部,并且,根据基于从该伽马校正数据送出部送出的伽马校正数据片的伽马特性,将由视频信号表示的亮度电平变换为灰度电压。

技术领域
本发明涉及对显示面板进行驱动的显示驱动器以及形成有该显示驱动器的半导体装置。
背景技术
对液晶显示面板或有机EL显示面板等显示面板进行驱动的显示驱动器生成与由输入视频信号表示的每个误差的亮度电平对应的灰度电压,将该灰度电压作为像素驱动电压向显示面板的源极线的每一个施加。再有,在显示驱动器中,按照红色、绿色、蓝色的每一个进行对由输入视频信号表示的亮度与实际上由显示面板显示的亮度的对应关系进行校正的伽马校正。
作为进行这样的伽马校正的显示驱动器,提出了包含3个系统的量的灰度电压生成电路的显示驱动器(例如,参照专利文献1),所述3个系统的量的灰度电压生成电路包含按照每个颜色(红、绿、蓝)储存用于进行伽马校正的设定值的3个系统的量的寄存器并且按照基于在该寄存器中储存的设定值的特性来将显示数据按照每个颜色(红、绿、蓝)变换为灰度电压。

发明要解决的课题
可是,灰度电压生成电路除了上述的寄存器之外还包含按照在该寄存器中储存的设定值来生成与各灰度对应的基准灰度电压的梯形电阻、以及用于输出该电压的放大器。
因此,在显示驱动器中需要设置与各颜色对应的3个系统的量的灰度电压生成电路(包含寄存器、梯形电阻和放大器),因此,存在灰度电压生成电路所占有的芯片面积变大而相应地显示驱动器的规模变大这样的问题。
发明内容
因此,本发明的目的在于提供能够谋求小规模化的显示驱动器以及形成有该显示驱动器的半导体装置。
用于解决课题的方案
本发明的显示驱动器是,一种显示驱动器,向具有多个显示单元的显示设备供给与由视频信号表示的所述显示单元的每一个的亮度电平对应的灰度电压,所述显示驱动器具有:伽马校正数据送出部,将表示伽马校正值的多个伽马校正数据片按照每个规定期间一个一个地送出;以及灰度电压变换部,根据基于由从所述伽马校正数据送出部送出的所述伽马校正数据片表示的所述伽马校正值的伽马特性,将所述亮度电平变换为所述灰度电压。
本发明的半导体装置是,一种半导体装置,形成有显示驱动器,所述显示驱动器向具有多个显示单元的显示设备供给与由视频信号表示的所述显示单元的每一个的亮度电平对应的灰度电压,所述显示驱动器具有:伽马校正数据送出部,将表示伽马校正值的多个伽马校正数据片按照每个规定期间一个一个地送出;以及灰度电压变换部,根据基于由从所述伽马校正数据送出部送出的所述伽马校正数据片表示的所述伽马校正值的伽马特性,将所述亮度电平变换为所述灰度电压。
发明效果
在本发明中,在显示驱动器设置有将多个伽马校正数据片按照每个规定期间一个一个地送出的伽马校正数据送出部,灰度电压变换部根据基于从该伽马校正数据送出部送出的伽马校正数据片的伽马特性来将由视频信号表示的亮度电平变换为灰度电压。
根据这样的结构,不管伽马特性的种类的数量,只要在显示驱动器内设置有1个系统的量的灰度电压变换部即可,因此,与按照例如红色、绿色、蓝色的各颜色所对应的3种伽马特性的每一种设置根据该伽马特性将亮度电平变换为灰度电压的3个系统的量的灰度电压变换部的结构相比,能够将电路规模缩小化。

具体实施方式
以下,参照附图并详细地说明本发明的实施例。
图1是示出包含本发明的显示驱动器的显示装置100的概略结构的框图。在图1中,显示驱动器20由例如液晶显示面板构成,具有在二维画面的水平方向上伸展的m个(m为2以上的自然数)水平显示线S1~Sm、以及在二维画面的垂直方向上伸展的n个(n为2以上的偶数)数据线D1~Dn。在水平显示线和数据线的各交叉部形成有进行红色显示的显示单元CR、进行绿色显示的显示单元CG、或进行蓝色显示的显示单元CB
再有,在显示驱动器20中,如图1所示那样在水平显示线S1与数据线D1~Dn的各交叉部形成显示单元CR,在水平显示线S2与数据线D1~Dn的各交叉部形成显示单元CG,在水平显示线S3与数据线D1~Dn的各交叉部形成显示单元CB。此外,在水平显示线S4与数据线D1~Dn的各交叉部形成显示单元CR,在水平显示线S5与数据线D1~Dn的各交叉部形成显示单元CG,在水平显示线S6与数据线D1~Dn的各交叉部形成显示单元CB
即,水平显示线S(3r-2)(r为自然数)为将进行红色显示的n个显示单元CR并置的红色显示线,水平显示线S(3r-1)为将进行绿色显示的n个显示单元CG并置的绿色显示线,水平显示线S(3r)为将进行蓝色显示的n个显示单元CB并置的蓝色显示线。
驱动控制部11基于视频信号VD来生成具有图2所示的格式的图像数据信号VDX。
即,驱动控制部11首先基于视频信号VD来得到显示数据PD,在所述显示数据PD中例如以8位的256阶段的亮度灰度表示各显示单元(CR、CG、CB)的亮度电平。接着,驱动控制部11按照彼此相邻的每3个水平显示线S将与该3个水平显示线对应的3·n个显示数据PD按照每个相同颜色分组。也就是说,驱动控制部11将3·n个显示数据PD分组为包含与红色的显示单元CR对应的显示数据PD1~PDn的显示数据序列LDR、包含与绿色的显示单元CG对应的显示数据PD1~PDn的显示数据序列LDG、包含与蓝色的显示单元CB对应的显示数据PD1~PDn的显示数据序列LDB
然后,驱动控制部11生成如图2所示那样将与红色对应的显示数据序列LDR排列于第(3r-2)个水平扫描期间H、将与绿色对应的显示数据序列LDG排列于第(3r-1)个水平扫描期间H、将与蓝色对应的显示数据序列LDB排列于第(3r)个水平扫描期间H后的图像数据信号VDX。进而,驱动控制部11按照图像数据信号VDX中的每个水平扫描期间H排列在进行基于该显示数据序列(LDR、LDG、LDB)的显示时使用的γ校正数据。
也就是说,如图2所示那样,在图像数据信号VDX中排列有显示数据序列LDR的水平扫描期间H内,排列有每一个表示针对红色分量的γ校正值的正极用的γ校正数据PGR和负极用的γ校正数据NGR。此外,在图像数据信号VDX中的排列有显示数据序列LDG的水平扫描期间H内,排列有每一个表示针对绿色分量的γ校正值的正极用的γ校正数据PGG和负极用的γ校正数据NGG。此外,在图像数据信号VDX中的排列有显示数据序列LDB的水平扫描期间H内,排列有每一个表示针对蓝色分量的γ校正值的正极用的γ校正数据PGB和负极用的γ校正数据NGB。再有,γ校正数据(PGR、NGR、PGG、NGG、PGB、NGB)表示在将显示数据PD变换为灰度电压时使用的γ校正值所对应的信息。具体地,γ校正数据表示从梯形(ladder)电阻(后述)中的电阻彼此的连接点(以下,称为输出分接头(output tap))之中指定进行与该γ校正值对应的变换的多个输出分接头例如5个输出分接头的信息。
驱动控制部11将如上述那样生成的图像数据信号VDX向数据驱动器13供给。进而,驱动控制部11每当从视频信号VD中检测出水平同步信号时将水平同步检测信号向扫描驱动器12供给。
扫描驱动器12在与这样的水平同步检测信号同步的定时将扫描脉冲依次施加到显示设备20的水平显示线S1~Sm的每一个。
数据驱动器13被形成于半导体IC(integrated circuit,集成电路)芯片。
图3是示出数据驱动器13的内部结构的框图。如图3所示,数据驱动器13具有:γ校正数据送出部130、数据导入部131、灰度电压变换部132、以及输出部133。
γ校正数据送出部130从图像数据信号VDX中提取出正极用的γ校正数据PGR、PGG或PGB,将所提取的正极用的γ校正数据作为γ校正数据SP向灰度电压变换部132供给。此外,γ校正数据送出部130从图像数据信号VDX中提取出负极用的γ校正数据NGR、NGG或NGB,将所提取的负极用的γ校正数据作为γ校正数据SN向灰度电压变换部132供给。
数据导入部131按照每1个水平扫描期间H从图像数据信号VDX中依次导入形成显示数据的序列(LDR、LDG、LDB)的显示数据PD1~PDn,将这些n个显示数据PD1~PDn作为显示数据Q1~Qn向灰度电压变换部132供给。
灰度电压变换部132根据按照图像数据信号VDX所包含的正极用的γ校正数据(PGR、PGG、PGB)的变换特性将显示数据Q1~Qn的每一个变换为模拟的正极性的灰度电压P1~Pn。进而,灰度电压变换部132根据按照图像数据信号VDX所包含的负极用的γ校正数据(NGR、NGG、NGB)的变换特性将显示数据Q1~Qn的每一个变换为模拟的负极性的灰度电压N1~Nn。然后,灰度电压变换部132将灰度电压P1~Pn和N1~Nn向输出部133供给。
输出部133按照规定的周期交替地选择正极性的灰度电压P1~Pn和负极性的灰度电压N1~Nn,将所选择的一方作为灰度电压G1~Gn向显示设备20的数据线D1~Dn供给。
图4是示出γ校正数据送出部130和灰度电压变换部132各自的内部结构的一个例子的框图。如图4所示,γ校正数据送出部130包含γ校正数据提取电路21、γ寄存器22、γ校正数据提取电路23、以及γ寄存器24。
γ校正数据提取电路21按照每1个水平扫描期间H从图像数据信号VDX中提取出正极用的γ校正数据PGR、PGG或PGB,将所提取的γ校正数据PGR、PGG或PGB向γ寄存器22供给。γ寄存器22覆盖从γ校正数据提取电路21供给的γ校正数据PGR、PGG或PGB并将其保持。γ寄存器22将在γ校正数据PGR、PGG和PGB之中如上述那样保持的1个γ校正数据作为正极用的γ校正数据SP遍及1个水平扫描期间H向灰度电压变换部132送出。
γ校正数据提取电路23按照每1个水平扫描期间H从图像数据信号VDX中提取出负极用的γ校正数据NGR、NGG或NGB,将所提取的γ校正数据NGR、NGG或NGB向γ寄存器24供给。γ寄存器24覆盖从γ校正数据提取电路23供给的γ校正数据NGR、NGG或NGB并将其保持。γ寄存器24将在γ校正数据NGR、NGG和NGB之中如上述那样保持的1个γ校正数据作为负极用的γ校正数据SN遍及1个水平扫描期间H向灰度电压变换部132供给。
通过上述的结构,γ校正数据送出部130将伽马校正数据片PGR、PGG和PGB按照每个水平扫描期间H一个一个地向灰度电压变换部132送出。此外,γ校正数据送出部130将伽马校正数据片NGR、NGG和NGB按照每个水平扫描期间H一个一个地向灰度电压变换部132送出。
灰度电压变换部132包含基准灰度电压生成电路32和33、DA变换电路34和35。
基准灰度电压生成电路32和33都具有电压设定端子T1~T3、以及用于输出与256阶段分别对应的基准灰度电压的输出端子U1~U256。
基准灰度电压生成电路32经由自身的电压设定端子T1~T3接受具有以下那样的电压值的大小关系的设定电压VG1~VG3的供给。
VG1>VG2>VG3。
基准灰度电压生成电路32基于设定电压VG1~VG3来生成电压值彼此不同的256灰度的量的正极性的基准灰度电压Y1~Y256,将每一个向DA变换电路34供给。
基准灰度电压生成电路33经由自身的电压设定端子T1~T3接受具有以下那样的电压值的大小关系的设定电压VG3~VG5的供给。
VG3>VG4>VG5。
基准灰度电压生成电路33基于设定电压VG3~VG5来生成电压值彼此不同的256灰度的量的负极性的基准灰度电压X1~X256,将每一个向DA变换电路35供给。
DA变换电路34按照从数据导入部131供给的显示数据Q1~Qn的各个的每一个从正极性的基准灰度电压Y1~Y256之中选择与由该显示数据Q表示的亮度灰度对应的基准灰度电压。然后,DA变换电路34将针对显示数据Q1~Qn的每一个如上述那样选择的灰度电压Y的每一个作为正极性的灰度电压P1~Pn输出。
DA变换电路35按照从数据导入部131供给的显示数据Q1~Qn的各个的每一个从负极性的基准灰度电压X1~X256之中选择与由该显示数据Q表示的亮度灰度对应的基准灰度电压。然后,DA变换电路35将针对显示数据Q1~Qn的每一个如上述那样选择的灰度电压X的每一个作为负极性的灰度电压N1~Nn输出。
图5是示出基准灰度电压生成电路32和33各自的内部结构的电路图。再有,基准灰度电压生成电路32和33彼此具有相同的电路结构,每一个包含:输入放大器AMP1和AMP2、第一梯形电阻(RD0~RD160)、γ特性调整电路SX、输出放大器AP0~AP6、以及第二梯形电阻(R0~R254)。
第一梯形电阻具有串联连接的电阻RD0~RD160,这些电阻RD0~RD160中的电阻彼此的连接点即输出分接头a1~a160连接于γ特性调整电路SX。再有,电压设定端子T2连接于输出分接头a1~a160之中的中间的输出分接头a81。
输入放大器AMP1将使用增益1对在电压设定端子T1接收的电压进行放大后的电压经由线L0向第一梯形电阻的排头的电阻RD0的一端和输出放大器AP0供给。输入放大器AMP2将使用增益1对在电压设定端子T3接收的电压进行放大后的电压经由线L6向第一梯形电阻的后尾的电阻RD160的一端和输出放大器AP6供给。
γ特性调整电路SX将由从γ校正数据送出部130供给的γ校正数据SP(SN)表示的γ校正值所对应的5个输出分接头即第一梯形电阻的输出分接头a1~a160之中的5个输出分接头分别连接于线L1~L5。再有,线L1连接于输出放大器AP1的输入端子,线L2向输出放大器AP2的输入端子供给。进而,线L3向输出放大器AP3的输入端子供给,线L4向输出放大器AP4的输入端子供给,线L5向输出放大器AP5的输入端子供给。例如,γ特性调整电路SX将由γ校正数据SP(SN)表示的γ校正值所对应的5个输出分接头之中的第一输出分接头连接于线L1,将第二输出分接头连接于线L2,将第三输出分接头连接于线L3。进而,γ特性调整电路SX将由γ校正数据表示的γ校正值所对应的5个输出分接头之中的第四输出分接头连接于线L4,将第五输出分接头连接于线L5。
第二梯形电阻具有串联连接的电阻R0~R254,输出端子U1连接于这些电阻R0~R254之中的排头的电阻R0的一端,输出端子U256连接于后尾的电阻R254的一端。进而,如图5所示那样,输出端子U2~U255分别连接于串联连接的电阻R0~R254中的电阻彼此的连接点。
输出放大器AP0将使用增益1对线L0的电压进行放大后的电压向电阻R0的一端和输出端子U1供给。输出放大器AP1将使用增益1对线L1的电压进行放大后的电压向电阻R0和R1彼此的连接点以及输出端子U2供给。输出放大器AP2将使用增益1对线L2的电压进行放大后的电压向电阻R30和R31彼此的连接点以及输出端子U31供给。输出放大器AP3将使用增益1对线L3的电压进行放大后的电压向电阻R126和R127彼此的连接点以及输出端子U127供给。输出放大器AP4将使用增益1对线L4的电压进行放大后的电压向电阻R214和R215彼此的连接点以及输出端子U215供给。输出放大器AP5将使用增益1对线L5的电压进行放大后的电压向电阻R253和R254彼此的连接点以及输出端子U255供给。输出放大器AP6将使用增益1对线L6的电压进行放大后的电压向电阻R254的一端和输出端子U256供给。
通过图5所示的结构,基准灰度电压生成电路32(33)生成具有基于γ校正数据SP(SN)的γ特性的基准灰度电压Y1~Y256(X1~X256),将它们经由输出端子U1~U256向DA变换电路34(35)供给,所述γ校正数据SP(SN)是从γ校正数据送出部130供给的数据。
在以下,参照图2并对由图4和图5所示的结构进行的工作进行说明。
首先,在图2所示的排列有图像数据信号VDX中的显示数据序列LDR的1个水平扫描区间CY1中,γ校正数据送出部130的γ校正数据提取电路21将在其排头部中排列的正极用的γ校正数据PGR从该图像数据信号VDX提取出,并将其向γ寄存器22供给。此外,在该1个水平扫描区间CY1中,γ校正数据送出部130的γ校正数据提取电路23将在其排头部中排列的负极用的γ校正数据NGR从该图像数据信号VDX提取出,并将其向γ寄存器24供给。由此,γ寄存器22保持该γ校正数据PGR并将其如图2所示那样作为γ校正数据SP向基准灰度电压生成电路32的γ特性调整电路SX供给。此外,γ寄存器24保持γ校正数据NGR并将其如图2所示那样作为γ校正数据SN向基准灰度电压生成电路33的γ特性调整电路SX供给。
由此,基准灰度电压生成电路32生成具有基于γ校正数据PGR的γ特性的基准灰度电压Y1~Y256,并将它们向DA变换电路34供给。此外,基准灰度电压生成电路33生成具有基于γ校正数据NGR的γ特性的基准灰度电压X1~X256,并将它们向DA变换电路35供给。因此,DA变换电路34基于具有基于γ校正数据PGR的γ特性的基准灰度电压Y1~Y256,将与上述的显示数据序列LDR对应的显示数据Q1~Qn的每一个变换为模拟的正极性的灰度电压P1~Pn。此外,DA变换电路35基于具有基于γ校正数据NGR的γ特性的基准灰度电压X1~X256,将与上述的显示数据序列LDR对应的显示数据Q1~Qn的每一个变换为模拟的负极性的灰度电压N1~Nn
接着,在图2所示的排列有图像数据信号VDX中的显示数据序列LDG的1个水平扫描区间CY2中,γ校正数据提取电路21将在其排头部中排列的正极用的γ校正数据PGG从该图像数据信号VDX提取出,并将其向γ寄存器22供给。此外,在该1个水平扫描区间CY2中,γ校正数据提取电路23将在其排头部中排列的负极用的γ校正数据NGG从该图像数据信号VDX提取出,并将其向γ寄存器24供给。由此,γ寄存器22覆盖并保持该γ校正数据PGG并将其如图2所示那样作为γ校正数据SP向基准灰度电压生成电路32的γ特性调整电路SX供给。此外,γ寄存器24覆盖并保持γ校正数据NGG并将其如图2所示那样作为γ校正数据SN向基准灰度电压生成电路33的γ特性调整电路SX供给。
由此,基准灰度电压生成电路32生成具有基于γ校正数据PGG的γ特性的基准灰度电压Y1~Y256,并将它们向DA变换电路34供给。此外,基准灰度电压生成电路33生成具有基于γ校正数据NGG的γ特性的基准灰度电压X1~X256,并将它们向DA变换电路35供给。因此,DA变换电路34基于具有基于γ校正数据PGG的γ特性的基准灰度电压Y1~Y256,将与上述的显示数据序列LDG对应的显示数据Q1~Qn的每一个变换为模拟的正极性的灰度电压P1~Pn。此外,DA变换电路35基于具有基于γ校正数据NGG的γ特性的基准灰度电压X1~X256,将与上述的显示数据序列LDG对应的显示数据Q1~Qn的每一个变换为模拟的负极性的灰度电压N1~Nn
接着,在图2所示的排列有图像数据信号VDX中的显示数据序列LDB的1个水平扫描区间CY3中,γ校正数据提取电路21将在其排头部中排列的正极用的γ校正数据PGB从该图像数据信号VDX提取出,并将其向γ寄存器22供给。此外,在该1个水平扫描区间CY3中,γ校正数据提取电路23将在其排头部中排列的负极用的γ校正数据NGB从该图像数据信号VDX提取出,并将其向γ寄存器24供给。由此,γ寄存器22覆盖并保持该γ校正数据PGB并将其如图2所示那样作为γ校正数据SP向基准灰度电压生成电路32的γ特性调整电路SX供给。此外,γ寄存器24覆盖并保持γ校正数据NGB并将其如图2所示那样作为γ校正数据SN向基准灰度电压生成电路33的γ特性调整电路SX供给。
由此,基准灰度电压生成电路32生成具有基于γ校正数据PGB的γ特性的基准灰度电压Y1~Y256,并将它们向DA变换电路34供给。此外,基准灰度电压生成电路33生成具有基于γ校正数据NGB的γ特性的基准灰度电压X1~X256,并将它们向DA变换电路35供给。因此,DA变换电路34基于具有基于γ校正数据PGB的γ特性的基准灰度电压Y1~Y256,将与上述的显示数据序列LDB对应的显示数据Q1~Qn的每一个变换为模拟的正极性的灰度电压P1~Pn。此外,DA变换电路35基于具有基于γ校正数据NGB的γ特性的基准灰度电压X1~X256,将与上述的显示数据序列LDB对应的显示数据Q1~Qn的每一个变换为模拟的负极性的灰度电压N1~Nn
像这样,在显示装置100中,驱动控制部11将图像数据信号VDX向数据驱动器13供给,在所述图像数据信号VDX中如图2所示那样按照每1个水平扫描期间H排列有1个水平显示线的量的显示数据PD1~PDn以及在将该显示数据PD1~PDn分别变换为正极性和负极性的灰度电压时使用的γ校正数据PG和NG。由此,在数据驱动器13的γ校正数据送出部130中,按照每1个水平扫描期间将图像数据信号VDX所包含的γ校正数据PG和NG分别覆盖到γ寄存器22和24中。灰度电压变换部132根据基于写入到γ寄存器22和24中的γ校正数据PG和NG的变换特性,将1个水平显示线的量的显示数据PD1~PDn的每一个变换为正极性的灰度电压P1~Pn和负极性的灰度电压N1~Nn。显示装置100的驱动控制部11和数据驱动器13重复执行这样的一系列的处理。
因此,为了在灰度电压变换部132中生成正极性(负极性)的灰度电压P1~Pn(N1~Nn),只要有1个系统的量的如图5所示那样包含放大器(AMP1、AMP2、AP0~AP6)、梯形电阻(RD0~RD160、R0~R254)、以及γ特性调整电路(SX)的基准灰度电压生成电路32(33)即可。
因此,根据图3~图5所示的结构,与按照红色、绿色、蓝色分量的每一个设置专用的灰度电压生成电路(即3个系统的量的灰度电压生成电路)的专利文献1的驱动器相比,能够使电路面积小。
再有,在上述实施例中,将针对红色分量的γ校正数据设为PGR和NGR,将针对绿色分量的γ校正数据设为PGG和NGG,将针对蓝色分量的γ校正数据设为PGB和NGB。在此,驱动控制部11按照每个水平显示线变更由这些PGR、NGR、PGG、NGG、PGB和NGB每一个表示的内容自身也可。由此,能够按照每1个水平显示线(每1个水平扫描期间)变更γ特性的设定。
此外,在图2所示的一个例子中,按照图像数据信号VDX中的每1个水平扫描期间H,在1个水平显示线的量的显示数据序列LD的稍前排列有与红、绿和蓝色之中的1个颜色对应的γ校正数据PG和NG,但是,未必需要在全部水平扫描期间H内排列γ校正数据PG和NG。
此外,在图像数据信号VDX中的各水平扫描期间H内不存在用于排列γ校正数据PG和NG的空闲时间的情况下,也可以仅在1个垂直扫描期间的排头部中排列全部γ校正数据。
图6是示出鉴于这样的方面而完成的图像数据信号VDX的格式的另一例子的图。也就是说,驱动控制部11将图像数据信号VDX向数据驱动器13供给,在所述图像数据信号VDX中如图6所示那样在各水平扫描期间H中排列有与1个水平显示线对应的显示数据序列LD并且仅在1个垂直扫描期间V的排头部中排列有全部γ校正数据PGR、PGG、PGB、NGR、NGG和NGB。此时,作为数据驱动器13的γ校正数据送出部130,代替图4所示的结构而采用图7所示的结构。
在图7中,γ校正数据提取电路41按照图像数据信号VDX中的每1个垂直扫描期间V提取出在其排头部中排列的正极用的γ校正数据PGR、PGG和PGB。然后,γ校正数据提取电路41将所提取的γ校正数据PGR向γ寄存器42供给,将所提取的γ校正数据PGG向γ寄存器43供给,将所提取的γ校正数据PGB向γ寄存器44供给。γ寄存器42导入从γ校正数据提取电路41供给的γ校正数据PGR,并将其如图6所示那样遍及1个垂直扫描期间V保持并向选择器45供给。γ寄存器43导入从γ校正数据提取电路41供给的γ校正数据PGG,并将其如图6所示那样遍及1个垂直扫描期间V保持并向选择器45供给。γ寄存器44导入从γ校正数据提取电路41供给的γ校正数据PGB,并将其如图6所示那样遍及1个垂直扫描期间V保持并向选择器45供给。选择器45对3个γ校正数据PGR、PGG和PGB按照每1个水平扫描期间H一个一个地依次进行选择,并将其如图6所示那样作为γ校正数据SP向基准灰度电压生成电路32的γ特性调整电路SX供给。
γ校正数据提取电路51按照图像数据信号VDX中的每1个垂直扫描期间V提取出在其排头部中排列的负极用的γ校正数据NGR、NGG和NGB。然后,γ校正数据提取电路51将所提取的γ校正数据NGR向γ寄存器52供给,将所提取的γ校正数据NGG向γ寄存器53供给,将所提取的γ校正数据NGB向γ寄存器54供给。γ寄存器52导入从γ校正数据提取电路51供给的γ校正数据NGR,并将其如图6所示那样遍及1个垂直扫描期间V保持并向选择器55供给。γ寄存器53导入从γ校正数据提取电路51供给的γ校正数据NGG,并将其如图6所示那样遍及1个垂直扫描期间V保持并向选择器55供给。γ寄存器54导入从γ校正数据提取电路51供给的γ校正数据NGB,并将其如图6所示那样遍及1个垂直扫描期间V保持并向选择器55供给。选择器55对3个γ校正数据NGR、NGG和NGB按照每1个水平扫描期间H一个一个地依次进行选择,并将其如图6所示那样作为γ校正数据SN向基准灰度电压生成电路33的γ特性调整电路SX供给。
因此,在作为γ校正数据送出部130而采用图7所示的结构的情况下,为了生成正极性(负极性)的灰度电压P1~Pn(N1~Nn),按照红色、绿色和蓝色的每个颜色需要选择器S45(55)、以及专用的γ寄存器即3个系统的量的γ寄存器42~44(52~54)。
可是,只要按照每个极性设置1个系统的量的基准灰度电压生成电路32(33)即可,因此,与需要与红色、绿色和蓝色这3个颜色对应的3个系统的量的独立的电路的专利文献1的驱动器相比,能够使电路面积小。
此外,在上述实施例中,在基准灰度电压生成电路32(33)内设置有输入放大器AMP1和AMP2以及第一梯形电阻(RD0~RD160),经由该第一梯形电阻的各输出分接头(a1~a160)将具有彼此不同的电压值的多个电压向γ特性调整电路SX供给。可是,排除由第一梯形电阻、输入放大器AMP1和AMP2构成的电路而将相当于从该电路的多个输出分接头的每一个输出的电压的电压组从外部直接向γ特性调整电路SX供给也可。
此外,在上述实施例中,使γ校正数据片(PGR、PGG、PGB、NGR、NGG、NGB)包含在图像数据信号VDX中来向数据驱动器13供给,但是,关于γ校正数据,在不使其包含在图像数据信号VDX中的情况下将其直接从外部向数据驱动器13供给也可。由此,即使在图像数据信号VDX中的1个水平扫描期间H内用于排列γ校正数据的空闲时间不足的情况下,也能够进行每1个水平扫描期间H的γ校正数据的改写。
此外,在上述实施例中,以显示设备20为液晶显示面板的情况为例子来说明了驱动控制部11和数据驱动器13的结构和工作,但是,显示设备20也可以为例如有机EL(Electroluminescence,电致发光)面板。此时,驱动控制部11将仅包含正极性的γ校正数据(PGR、PGG和PGB)来作为γ校正数据的图像数据信号VDX向数据驱动器13供给。进而,不需要γ校正数据送出部130所包含的γ校正数据提取电路23和γ寄存器24,并且,不需要灰度电压变换部132所包含的基准灰度电压生成电路33和DA变换电路35。
总之,作为包含驱动控制部11和数据驱动器13的显示驱动器,只要为设置有以下的伽马校正数据送出部(130)和灰度电压变换部(32、34)的驱动器即可。即,伽马校正数据送出部将多个伽马校正数据片(PGR、PGG、PGB)按照每个规定期间(H)一个一个地送出。此外,灰度电压变换部根据基于从该伽马校正数据送出部送出的伽马校正数据片的伽马特性,将由视频信号表示的亮度电平(Q1~Qn)变换为灰度电压(P1~Pn)。再有,作为伽马校正数据送出部,只要为包含以下的控制部(11)、伽马校正数据提取部(21、41)和伽马寄存器(22)的送出部即可。即,控制部生成图像数据信号(VDX),在所述图像数据信号(VDX)中,按照每个水平扫描期间分开排列显示数据片(PD1~PDn)的序列,并且,按照每个水平扫描期间一个一个地排列多个伽马校正数据片(PGR、PGG、PGB),所述显示数据片(PD1~PDn)表示由视频信号(VD)表示的显示单元(CR、CG、CB)的每一个的亮度电平。伽马校正数据提取部从这样的图像数据信号中按照每个水平扫描期间依次提取伽马校正数据片。伽马寄存器将由该伽马校正数据提取部提取出的伽马校正数据片保持并向灰度电压变换部送出。此外,作为伽马校正数据送出部,只要为包含以下的控制部(11)、伽马校正数据提取部(41)、多个伽马寄存器(42~44)和选择器(45)的送出部即可。即,控制部生成图像数据信号(VDX),在所述图像数据信号(VDX)中,按照每个水平扫描期间分开排列显示数据片(PD1~PDn)的序列,并且,在各垂直扫描期间(V)的排头部中排列多个伽马校正数据片(PGR、PGG、PGB),所述显示数据片(PD1~PDn)表示由视频信号(VD)表示的显示单元(CR、CG、CB)的每一个的亮度电平。伽马校正数据提取部从图像数据信号中按照每个垂直扫描期间提取多个伽马校正数据片。于是,多个伽马寄存器将由该伽马校正数据提取部提取出的多个伽马校正数据片分别个别地保持。然后,选择器对由这些伽马寄存器的每一个保持的伽马校正数据片按照每个水平扫描期间一个一个地依次进行选择,将所选择的伽马校正数据片向灰度电压变换部送出。

Claims (8)

1.一种显示驱动器,向具有多个显示单元的显示设备供给与由视频信号表示的所述显示单元的每一个的亮度电平对应的灰度电压,其特征在于,具有:
伽马校正数据送出电路,包括:
伽马校正数据提取电路,接收图像数据信号,在所述图像数据信号中,用于校正由所述视频信号表示的亮度与实际在显示设备上显示的颜色的亮度之间的对应关系的表示伽马校正值的多个伽马校正数据片在每一个规定期间的排头部中排列,并且表示由所述视频信号表示的所述显示单元的每一个的所述亮度电平的显示数据片的序列按照规定期间基础分组并排列,所述伽马校正数据提取电路依次从所述图像数据信号中按照规定期间提取伽马校正数据片;以及
伽马寄存器,保持并送出由所述伽马校正数据提取电路按照规定期间提取的所述伽马校正数据片;以及
灰度电压变换电路,根据基于由从所述伽马校正数据送出电路送出的所述伽马校正数据片表示的所述伽马校正值的伽马特性,生成多个基准灰度电压,以根据所述基准灰度电压将所述亮度电平变换为所述灰度电压。
2.根据权利要求1所述的显示驱动器,其特征在于,所述规定期间为所述视频信号中的水平扫描期间。
3.根据权利要求1所述的显示驱动器,其特征在于,所述多个伽马校正数据片由表示针对红色分量的伽马校正值的第一伽马校正数据片、表示针对绿色分量的伽马校正值的第二伽马校正数据片、以及表示针对蓝色分量的伽马校正值的第三伽马校正数据片构成。
4.根据权利要求1所述的显示驱动器,其特征在于,在所述显示设备中周期性地配置有将进行红色显示的多个所述显示单元并置的水平显示线、将进行绿色显示的多个所述显示单元并置的水平显示线、以及将进行蓝色显示的多个所述显示单元并置的水平显示线。
5.根据权利要求1所述的显示驱动器,其特征在于,
包含数据导入电路,所述数据导入电路接收所述图像数据信号,并且按照每个水平扫描期间导入所述图像数据信号所包含的所述显示数据片的序列,并且将所述显示数据片的序列供给到所述灰度电压变换电路作为显示数据。
6.一种显示驱动器,向具有多个显示单元的显示设备供给与由视频信号表示的所述显示单元的每一个的亮度电平对应的灰度电压,其特征在于,具有:
伽马校正数据送出电路,包括:
伽马校正数据提取电路,接收图像数据信号,在所述图像数据信号中,用于校正由所述视频信号表示的亮度与实际在显示设备上显示的颜色的亮度之间的对应关系的表示伽马校正值的多个伽马校正数据片在每一个垂直扫描期间的排头部中排列,并且表示由所述视频信号表示的所述显示单元的每一个的所述亮度电平的显示数据片的序列按照水平扫描期间基础分组并排列,所述伽马校正数据提取电路从所述图像数据信号中按照垂直扫描期间提取所述多个伽马校正数据片;
多个伽马寄存器,每一个伽马寄存器保持由所述伽马校正数据提取电路提取的所述多个伽马校正数据片;以及
选择器,对所述多个伽马寄存器的每一个保持的所述伽马校正数据片按照每个水平扫描期间依次进行选择,并且送出所选择的所述伽马校正数据片;以及
灰度电压变换电路,根据基于由从所述伽马校正数据送出电路送出的所述伽马校正数据片表示的所述伽马校正值的伽马特性,生成多个基准灰度电压,以根据所述基准灰度电压将所述亮度电平变换为所述灰度电压。
7.根据权利要求6所述的显示驱动器,其特征在于,
包含数据导入电路,所述数据导入电路接收所述图像数据信号,并且按照每个水平扫描期间导入所述图像数据信号所包含的所述显示数据片的序列,并且将所述显示数据片的序列供给到所述灰度电压变换电路作为显示数据。
8.一种半导体装置,形成有显示驱动器,所述显示驱动器向具有多个显示单元的显示设备供给与由视频信号表示的所述显示单元的每一个的亮度电平对应的灰度电压,所述半导体装置的特征在于,
所述显示驱动器具有:
伽马校正数据送出电路,包括:
伽马校正数据提取电路,接收图像数据信号,在所述图像数据信号中,用于校正由所述视频信号表示的亮度与实际在显示设备上显示的颜色的亮度之间的对应关系的表示伽马校正值的多个伽马校正数据片在每一个规定期间的排头部中排列,并且表示由所述视频信号表示的所述显示单元的每一个的所述亮度电平的显示数据片的序列按照规定期间基础分组并排列,所述伽马校正数据提取电路依次从所述图像数据信号中按照规定期间提取伽马校正数据片;以及
伽马寄存器,保持并送出由所述伽马校正数据提取电路按照规定期间提取的所述伽马校正数据片;以及
灰度电压变换电路,根据基于由从所述伽马校正数据送出电路送出的所述伽马校正数据片表示的所述伽马校正值的伽马特性,生成多个基准灰度电压,以根据所述基准灰度电压将所述亮度电平变换为所述灰度电压。
