发动机用活塞环及其制造方法
技术领域
本公开涉及发动机用活塞环及活塞环的制造方法,配置所述活塞环以使活塞环的外周处理有低摩擦Si-DLC(硅掺杂类金刚石),从而减小发动机汽缸的摩擦损耗并改善燃料效率。
背景技术
活塞环被定义为一对装配到活塞外周的凹槽以保持活塞与汽缸内壁之间某种程度的气密性,并从汽缸壁刮去润滑剂的环形物,由此防止润滑剂流入燃烧室中。
图1示出常规发动机用活塞环的涂覆状态。这样的活塞环在保持耐久性以及具有低摩擦系数方面有困难。为此,通常用Cr(铬)或氮化物(气体氮化)镀覆活塞环10的外周。近年来,由于高油价和对CO2的限制,提出使用CrN(氮化铬)等的各种表面处理技术来减小摩擦损耗并改善耐久性。
在表面处理方法中,DLC(类金刚石)是金刚石与石墨之间的中间相,因此DLC保持石墨的低摩擦系数、金刚石的高度硬度、和优异的耐化学性。因此,当将DLC施用于活塞环的外周时,可进一步减小发动机的摩擦损耗,由此导致车辆燃料效率的改进。
然而,DLC有问题的是,当DLC长时期暴露在高温时,摩擦和耐久性劣化,因此涂层中残余应力增加。由于涂层上应力增加,涂层的厚度在某些部分也可能增加。当这发生时,涂层可因增加的摩擦而剥落。
上述仅设计为帮助理解本发明的背景。
发明内容
本发明致力于解决与现有技术关联的上述问题。本发明的目的是提供用于发动机的活塞环及制造活塞环的方法,配置所述活塞环以使活塞环的外周涂覆有低摩擦Si-DLC,从而减小发动机汽缸中的摩擦损耗并改善燃料效率,由此同时实现低摩擦特性和高耐久性。
一方面,本发明提供发动机用活塞环,其包括涂覆在基础材料表面上的铬(Cr)涂层;和涂覆在Cr层和基础材料的顶部的最外层上并且包括约3~10wt.%的Si的硅掺杂类金刚石(Si-DLC)涂层。优选地,活塞环还可包括涂覆在Cr涂层与Si-DLC涂层之间的氮化铬(CrN)涂层。
在一些实施方式中,Si-DLC涂层可以具有约0.1至10μm的厚度,且Si可均匀分布在Si-DLC涂层中。Si-DLC涂层的Si含量可延从涂层内部到外部的方向增加。
可通过碳化气体(CxHy)与TMS(四甲基硅烷,Si(CH3)4)气体之间或碳化气体与HM SO(六甲基二硅氧烷,O(Si(CH3)3)2)气体之间的化学反应形成Si-DLC涂层。
可仅在与气缸内壁接触的基础材料的外周上形成Cr涂层和Si-DLC涂层。
另一方面,本发明提供制造发动机用活塞环的方法,其包括a)在基础材料上涂覆Cr涂层;和b)通过碳化气体(CxHy)与TMS气体之间或碳化气体与HMDSO气体之间的化学反应涂覆Si-DLC涂层。
优选地,该方法还可包括在基础材料上涂覆Cr涂层的同时,通过N2气与溅射的Cr离子之间的化学反应涂覆CrN涂层。此外,在涂覆Si-DLC涂层时,可调整TMS或HMDSO气体的注入量以使Si-DLC涂层的Si含量从涂层的内部向外部增加。更具体地,Si-DLC涂层可包括3~10wt.%的Si。
如从上面的描述中显然看出,本发明提供发动机用活塞环及其制造方法,其中Si-DLC的摩擦系数比Cr镀层(plating)和氮化层(nitriding)小至少23%,且比CrN小至少11%,由此减小活塞环的摩擦损耗并提高燃料效率至少0.2~0.5%。

根据本发明的发动机用活塞环包括涂覆在基础材料100表面上的Cr涂层200,和涂覆在基础材料100的最外层上并且包括约3~10wt.%的Si的Si-DLC(类金刚石)涂层600。在一些实施方式中,还可将CrN涂层400设置在Cr涂层200与Si-DLC涂层600之间。
这样的构造可减小活塞环的摩擦损耗并提高燃料效率至少0.2~0.5%,因为Si-DLC的摩擦系数比Cr镀层和氮化层小至少23%,且比CrN小至少11%。而且,Si-DLC的耐刮擦性比Cr镀层和氮化层优于至少50%,且比仅有CrN优于至少30%或更多,由此抑制油膜的破坏并改善活塞环的耐久性。
而且,将Si掺杂在DLC上以增强DLC的低摩擦和高温耐磨性。因此,即使Si-DLC被磨损,由Cr和CrN组成的多层结构形成下层,因此改善活塞环的耐久性。
在本发明的示例性实施方式中,Si-DLC涂层600可具有0.1至10μm的厚度。而且,Si可均匀分布在Si-DLC涂层600中。可形成Si-DLC涂层600以使Si含量从涂层600的内部向外部增加。当Si含量在阶段(stage)/水平或层中变化时,Si-DLC涂层600即使在高温也可更有效地保持低摩擦和高耐久性。
在本发明的示例说明的实施方式中,通过碳化气体(CxHy)与TMS气体之间或碳化气体与HMDSO气体之间的化学反应形成Si-DLC涂层600。然而,形成Si-DLC层600的任何方法都是可接受的。而且,理想的是,仅在与汽缸内壁接触的基础材料100的外周上处理Cr涂层200和Si-DLC涂层600。
如此,应用于本发明的Si-DLC是比CrN具有更低的摩擦系数和更高的硬度的涂覆材料,因此对活塞环的摩擦减小、耐磨性、和耐刮擦性非常有效。而且,由于Si-DLC是通过均匀或逐渐掺杂Si而形成的,所以与常规DLC层不同,其即使在高温也可保持低摩擦和高耐久性。

根据本发明的制造发动机用活塞环的方法包括在基础材料上涂覆Cr涂层200,并通过碳化气体(CxHy)与TMS气体之间或碳化气体与HMDSO气体之间的化学反应在Cr层200的顶部形成Si-DLC涂层600。
此外,本发明的示例说明的实施方式还可包括通过N2气与溅射的Cr离子之间的化学反应在活塞环的Cr层与Si-DLC层之间形成CrN涂层400。
而且,通过控制TMS或HMDSO气体的注入量,Si含量可从Si-DLC涂层600的内部向外部增加。Si-DLC涂覆步骤可实现所得层中3~10wt.%的Si。
更具体地,如图3所示,本发明的Si-DLC涂覆工艺在活塞环的外周上以多层结构形成Cr(使用PVD,物理气相沉积法)+CrN(使用PVD法)+Si-DLC(使用PACVD,等离子体辅助化学气相沉积法)。形成最外Si-DLC层,使得通过整体涂覆而均匀分布约3~10at.%的Si,或通过分级涂覆DLC的硅含量从含约3wt.%的内部向含约10at.%的外部逐渐增加。
如图4所示,例如通过使用Cr靶和包括氩(Ar)、氮气(N2)和碳化气体(CxHy)、TMS或HMDSO气体的工艺气体的真空涂覆设备涂覆本发明的活塞环。
首先,在制造上述发明的示例性方法中,在真空条件下使用Ar气获得等离子体状态,将涂覆室加热至80℃以活化活塞环的表面,并且供应偏置功率以引起Ar离子与活塞环的表面碰撞,由此净化活塞环的表面(烘烤和净化)。随后,为了增加涂层与基础材料之间的紧密接触力,仅使用Cr靶涂覆Cr层(厚度为0.1至1.0μm)。
进一步,供应工艺气体N2以在Cr靶中进行与溅射的Cr离子的化学反应,由此涂覆CrN层(厚度为约0.1至10μm)。之后,如果不使用Cr靶而使用碳化气体和TMS或HMDSO气体进行化学反应,则C和Si结合到一起以形成Si-DLC层(厚度为0.1至10μm)。
这里,如果以恒定速率供应含有Si的气体(TMS或HMDSO),则DLC的Si含量可保持约3~10wt.%。同时,如果在初始阶段供应少量含有Si的气体,然后气体量逐渐增加,则DLC的Si含量可从内部的约3at.%向外部的约10wt.%增加。
图5至7是示出本发明的实施方式与比较例之间性能比较的图。图5示出摩擦系数的比较。往复式磨擦-磨损测试仪测量活塞环与汽缸套之间的摩擦系数。在具有150N的负载、150℃的温度、5Hz的振荡周期、和油的条件下进行测试。测试结果是Si-DLC<DLC<CrN<氮化层,如图5所示。也就是,氮化层的摩擦系数是最高的,并且Si-DLC的摩擦系数是最低的。而且,由于进行掺杂工艺时,Si含量是变化的,Si-DLC的摩擦系数进一步减小。
图6示出耐刮擦性比较。往复式磨擦-磨损测试仪测量活塞环与汽缸套之间的刮擦产生负载,以比较油膜的耐破坏性。在如下条件进行该测试:负载以20分钟的间隔增加20N增加至高达440N,温度为150℃,振动周期为5Hz,且存在油。测试结果是氮化层<CrN<DLC=Si-DLC,如图6所示。氮化层产生最快的刮擦,且DLC和Si-DLC具有最高的刮擦产生负载。
图7示出高温耐磨性比较。往复式磨擦-磨损测试仪测量活塞环与汽缸套之间的活塞环的磨损量。在具有150N的负载、25℃和200℃的温度、5Hz的振动周期、以及油的条件下将测试进行1小时。测试结果在图7中示出。也就是,DLC的磨损量在高温显著增加,而Si-DLC的磨损量不显著增加。而且,在调节Si含量之后掺杂的情况中,Si-DLC的耐磨性在高温进一步改善。
也就是,如上述构造的发动机用活塞环及其制造方法实现以下结果:Si-DLC的摩擦系数比Cr镀层和氮化层小至少23%,并且比CrN小至少11%,由此减小活塞环的摩擦损失并提高燃料效率至少0.2~0.5%。
而且,Si-DLC的耐刮擦性比Cr镀层和氮化层优于至少50%,且比CrN优于至少30%或更多,由此抑制油膜的破坏并改善活塞环的耐久性。而且,Si掺杂在DLC上,由此改善DLC的低摩擦和高温耐磨性。同时,即使Si-DLC被磨损,下/内层包括具有Cr和CrN的多层结构,由此改善活塞环的耐久性。
本发明有利的是,Si-DLC的耐刮擦性比Cr镀层和氮化层优于至少50%,且比CrN优于至少30%或更多,由此抑制油膜的破坏并提高活塞环的耐久性。此外,本发明有利的是,Si掺杂在DLC上,由此改善DLC的低摩擦和高温耐磨性。而且,本发明有利的是,即使Si-DLC被磨损,下/内层包括具有Cr和CrN的多层结构,由此改善活塞环的耐久性。
本发明已参考其优选实施方式进行了详细描述。然而,本领域技术人员能够理解,可以在不偏离本发明的原理和精神的情况下对这些实施方式进行各种改变,本发明的范围由所附的权利要求及其等同方式限定。

Claims (12)

1.一种发动机用活塞环,包括:
涂覆在基础材料表面上的Cr(铬)涂层;和
涂覆在所述Cr涂层和所述基础材料之上的最外层上的Si-DLC(硅掺杂类金刚石)涂层,所述Si-DLC层包括约3~10wt.%的Si。
2.根据权利要求1所述的活塞环,还包括:
涂覆在所述Cr涂层与所述Si-DLC涂层之间的CrN(氮化铬)涂层。
3.根据权利要求1所述的活塞环,其中所述Si-DLC涂层具有0.1至10μm的厚度。
4.根据权利要求1所述的活塞环,其中所述Si均匀分布在所述Si-DLC涂层中。
5.根据权利要求1所述的活塞环,其中所述Si-DLC涂层的Si含量延从所述Si-DLC涂层的内部到外部的方向增加。
6.根据权利要求1所述的活塞环,其中通过碳化气体(CxHy)与TMS(四甲基硅烷,Si(CH3)4)气体之间的化学反应形成所述Si-DLC涂层。
7.根据权利要求1所述的活塞环,其中通过碳化气体与HMDSO(六甲基二硅氧烷,O(Si(CH3)3)2)气体之间的化学反应形成所述Si-DLC涂层。
8.根据权利要求1所述的活塞环,其中仅在与气缸内壁接触的所述基础材料的外周上形成所述Cr涂层和所述Si-DLC涂层。
9.一种制造发动机用活塞环的方法,包括:
a)在活塞环的基础材料上涂覆Cr涂层;和
b)通过碳化气体(CxHy)与TMS气体之间或碳化气体与HMDSO气体之间的化学反应在活塞环的所述Cr涂层之上涂覆Si-DLC涂层。
10.根据权利要求9所述的方法,还包括:
在a),通过N2气与溅射的Cr离子之间的化学反应涂覆氮化铬(CrN)涂层,以在所述Si-DLC涂层与所述Cr涂层之间形成所述CrN涂层。
11.根据权利要求9所述的方法,其中在b),调节所述TMS或所述HMDSO气体的注入量,以使所述Si-DLC涂层的Si含量从所述Si-DLC涂层的内部向外部增加。
12.根据权利要求9所述的方法,其中在b),所述Si-DLC涂层包括约3~10wt.%的Si。
