Abstract

技术领域
本发明涉及诸如阳电缆连接器那样的连接器,其包括锁定机构,当它连接到诸如阴连接器那样对应的连接器时,可防止松动或分离。
背景技术
电气连接器用于各种应用中以互连电路和装置。一个如此的连接器是螺口的、螺纹F型连接器(或“F-连接器”),其用在大多数射频(RF)同轴电缆上,用以互连电视、有线电视解码器、VCR/DVD、硬盘数字记录仪、卫星接收机以及其它的装置。阳F型连接器通常附连到同轴电缆的端部,同轴电缆具有延伸通过其中的中心导体。阳F型连接器(有时称作“阳连接器”或“阳F-连接器”)具有标准设计,通常采用7/16英寸六角螺母作为紧固件。该螺母具有相当短(例如,1/8英寸至1/4英寸)的长度,并可被人手抓住来拧紧或拧松。
为了保持紧密的电气连接,并达到所要的电气性能,制造商和工业标准经常要求F型连接器能拧紧到附连的结构(相对于F-连接器而言,这些附连结构有时被称作“阴连接器”或“阴F-连接器”),拧紧的转矩超过仅使用人手指拧紧所达到的转矩。在有线电视产品的情形中,例如,行业标准要求用25in-lb的转矩(或从手指拧紧的位置再拧紧90-120度)来拧紧紧固件。相反,消费者的产品却有较弱的附连结构(例如是塑料的),其要求F型连接器紧固件用扳手拧紧到稍微超过手指拧紧程度即可。
当某人用他/她的手指手工地拧紧紧固件,可能只对F-连接器紧固件施加4-5in-lb的转矩,而将F-连接器紧固件合适地固定到附连结构可能要求采用10-25in-lb的转矩。然而,如果假定某人使用扳手来拧紧同样的紧固件,则除了扳手又庞大又不方便之外,该人还承担把紧固件拧得过紧的危险,有可能损坏附连结构。因此,施加过小或过大的转矩都会造成返回到制造商方面增多的消费者售后服务要求和来自消费者的抱怨和投诉。
此外,有许多因素包括振动和热循环都会造成阳和阴连接器之间的螺纹连接松弛和/或分开,导致信号的丢失或电气性能变劣。同样问题还存在于保持其它类型的阳和阴连接器之间的连接,诸如RCA连接器、“插头和插座”连接器,和/或刀片型连接器。

具体实施方式
本发明描述了带有锁定机构的连接器及其相关的系统和方法。根据本发明实施例构造的连接器包括锁定机构,该锁定机构向内将阳连接器压紧在阴连接器上,由此,将阳和阴连接器锁定在一起,以大大地减小因信号丢失或因松弛连接引起的电气性能的劣化。连接器可构造成螺纹啮合的和/或非螺纹的表面。此外,连接器可减少或防止由于连接器过分拧紧造成的电子部件的损坏。特定的细节将在以下描述中阐述并图示在图1-16中,以对本发明的各种实施例提供透彻的理解。描述众所周知的结构和经常与连接器、同轴电缆等相关的系统的其它细节将不在下文中予以阐述,以避免不必要地模糊对本发明各种实施例的描述。

根据本发明各个方面的第一个示范连接器100(例如,阳F型连接器,与临时专利申请No.61/347,364有关,该连接器以前被称作“阴”F型连接器)图示在图1和2中。连接器100包括筒夹110和锁定机构120。筒夹110包括内表面112,其形成用来接纳第二或阴连接器的内孔。在该示范实施例中,内表面112包括用来啮合阴F型连接器上的对应螺纹的螺纹114。然而,在其它实施例中,筒夹110的全部或部分的内表面112可以是光滑的。在所示实施例中,锁定机构120包括一对掣子,它们在图1中显示为延伸出来(即,处于打开位置),以使连接器100可从阴连接器释放。在图2中,锁定机构120显示为处于“锁定”位置(即,掣子缩回)以将筒夹110固定到阴连接器。
在替代的实施例中,连接器可以是构造成牢固地啮合对应阳连接器的阴连接器。在另一实施例中,例如,RCA插头(阳连接器)包括锁定机构,用以将其固定到对应的阴RCA连接器。
筒夹110可以是任何尺寸、形状或构造以与匹配的连接器(诸如对应的阴连接器)接合。如上所述,在本发明的某些实施例中,筒夹110可以是除F型阳连接器之外的阳连接器的部分,并构造成与对应阴连接器(诸如在RCA连接器的情形中、USB连接器、或电缆上的阳插头连接到阴插座的其它连接器)接合。筒夹110可由任何合适材料形成。在一个实施例中,例如,筒夹110至少部分地由金属形成,诸如黄铜、铜、钢、不锈钢、铝、金属化的复合塑料等。在一个实施例中,筒夹110由既可变形(当锁定机构120处于锁定位置时,压靠在阴连接器上)又有弹性(在锁定机构120处于打开位置时,基本上返回到压缩前的形状)的材料形成。在图1和2所示的示范实施例中,使用者可在阴连接器上滑动连接器100并锁定该锁定机构120,以达到具有所要求的电气性能的连接,同时,避免传统的螺口F型连接器的拧得过紧和未拧紧的问题。
筒夹110包括内表面112,该表面形成用于接纳匹配的连接器(例如,对应阴连接器)的内孔。在图1和2所示的示范实施例中,内表面112是部分有螺纹的。在该实施例中,内表面112的远端(即,接纳阴连接器的那端)有螺纹(有两排螺纹),而筒夹110的其余的内表面112没有螺纹。尤其是,部分的螺纹可让阴连接器容易地插入筒夹110内,同时,仍允许螺纹114啮合阴连接器上的匹配螺纹,以在锁定机构120锁定时,加强与阴连接器的连接。在一个实施例中,筒夹110构造成令螺纹114根本不啮合阴连接器上的螺纹,直到锁定机构120移到锁定位置为止。在其它的实施例中,可省略掉全部的或部分的螺纹,以便于将阴连接器插入到筒夹110内(例如,在阴连接器插入过程中,防止螺纹彼此咬死)。在还有其它的实施例中,筒夹110可构造成接合阴连接器的无螺纹部分。
由内表面112形成的内孔可以是与对应匹配的(例如,阴的)连接器相接合的任何尺寸、形状和构造。在一个实施例中,内孔基本上是圆柱形的。在另一实施例中,内孔是锥形的。内孔可以任何方式形成的锥形。例如,内孔可以形成锥形,使得内孔在筒夹110远端处(即,阴连接器插入之处)的直径小于内孔在筒夹110近端处的直径。尤其是,当锁定机构120处于锁定位置时,内孔的锥形有助于将筒夹110固定到阴连接器。筒夹110的外表面也可以是任何尺寸、形状和构造。例如,筒夹110可以是圆柱形的或匹配于内孔锥形的锥形。然而,筒夹110外表面的尺寸、形状或构造可以与内孔的尺寸、形状或构造无关。例如,筒夹110的外表面可以是圆柱形,而内孔是锥形的。
锁定机构120构造成啮合筒夹110,以将筒夹110固定到阴连接器。锁定机构120可包括任何的装置,其构造成将筒夹110固定到阴连接器,所述装置包括掣子、钩子、卡子、扣子和/或夹子。锁定机构120可构造成由人的手、工具或手与工具并用而在其打开位置和锁定位置之间进行操纵。
图3和4示出示范连接器200(例如,阳F型连接器;在先前的临时专利申请No.61/347,364中被称作“阴”F型连接器)的剖视图,其中,锁定机构是单一的掣子,其在打开位置(图示在图3中)和锁定位置(图示在图4中)之间枢转。在该实施例中,掣子120在其移入锁定位置时朝向连接器200的后面(近端)枢转,但在其它替代的实施例中,该掣子120可构造成朝向连接器200的前面(远端)枢转,或以任何其它合适方式进行操纵。在该实施例中,当锁定机构120移入其锁定位置中时,它将压力施加到筒夹110的后部,由此,压迫筒夹110抵靠在阴连接器上。在各种实施例中,筒夹110的内表面可包括螺纹,该螺纹可啮合阴连接器上的外螺纹。在其它的实施例中,筒夹110可具有光滑的内表面,该内表面可紧贴在阴连接器的螺纹和/或无螺纹的表面上。不管筒夹110是否有螺纹,锁定机构120总可向内压住筒夹110而啮合阴连接器,无需使连接器螺纹地啮合在一起。当锁定机构120从其锁定位置移至其打开位置时,锁定机构120释放作用在筒夹110上的压力,允许连接器200从阳连接器中取出。
在该示范实施例中,锁定机构120包括第一部分122,该第一部分122构造成当锁定机构120移至其锁定位置时啮合筒夹110。掣子120的第二部分124构造成将掣子120固定在锁定位置中,直到使用者将掣子120移回到打开位置为止。在该实施例中,第二部分124是钩子,该钩子接合连接器200本体上的对应钩子,以将锁定机构120保持在锁定位置。尤其是,这可防止由于热循环、振动和/或作用在连接器220所附连的电缆上的应力引起的阳连接器200与阴连接器不希望的松弛。
锁定机构120和连接器200的本体可由任何合适材料形成。在图3和4所示的示范实施例中,锁定机构120由诸如聚乙烯那样的塑料或其它合适塑料制成。
在另一示范实施例中,现参照图5和6,连接器100包括一对用于啮合筒夹110的掣子120。在图5中,两个掣子120都处于打开位置,而图6中的两个掣子120处于锁定位置。在该实施例中,筒夹110构造成匹配在F型连接器上,两个掣子120移至其锁定位置中,以将阳连接器200固定到阴连接器。
连接器100和200可以任何合适方式附连到电缆135。在一个示范实施例中,如图3中清晰地所示,连接器100和200通过固定器(retainer)130附连到电缆135,在美国专利No.6,648,683中描述过如此的固定器。本文以参见方式引入美国专利No.6,648,683的全部内容。在该实施例中,固定器130上的突脊132与连接器100、200上的槽134接合,以将连接器100、200附连到电缆135。
图7和8示出附连到阴F型连接器150的连接器100。如图所示,电缆135的中心导体137插入到阴连接器150内。掣子120都处于其锁定位置。部分122将压力施加到筒夹110的后部上,压迫筒夹(和导体的插入件140,其与筒夹110连通)抵靠在阴连接器150上,而部分124与部分126互相作用而将掣子120固定在锁定位置。
图9A和9B分别是根据本发明另一实施例构造的连接器900(例如,阳F-连接器)的前视立体图和后视立体图。连接器900在结构和功能上的许多特征至少大致类似于以上详述的连接器100和200的对应特征。例如,在所示的实施例中,连接器900包括锁定机构920,该锁定机构具有第一掣子921a和第二掣子921b,它们可枢转地连接到连接器本体902。在图9A和9B中,锁定机构920图示为处于“打开”位置,使掣子921转动离开连接器本体902。

一起参照图11A和11B,在如下的一个实施例中,连接器900可用于可操作地将电缆1135连接到电子装置(未示出)上的匹配的连接器1150(例如,对应的阴F-连接器)。令掣子921处于如图11A所示的打开位置,筒夹910在匹配的连接器1150上滑动(图11B),以使中心导体1137的末端合适地被匹配的连接器1150接纳和/或连接到匹配的连接器1150。掣子921然后沿方向C朝向“关闭”位置向内转动。当掣子921向内转动时,驱动部分922抵靠在筒夹910的后表面部分1114上,并驱动筒夹910相对于连接器本体902沿方向F前进。在各种实施例中,连接器900可包括位于筒夹910近端部分处的密封结构1115,该密封结构密封了筒夹910和匹配的连接器1150之间的接口。密封结构1115可以是如图11A和11B所示的O形环,或可包括本技术领域内技术人员熟知的其它类型的密封结构。
如图11A所示,筒夹910可移动地被接纳在连接器本体902内的内孔1104中。在所示的实施例中,内孔1104向内朝向方向F收缩而呈锥形。其结果是,当掣子921的驱动部分922在锥形内孔1104内向前驱动筒夹910时,筒夹910内的狭槽1011(图10A)能使筒夹910的远端1012向内从第一直径D1(图11A)缩小到较小的第二直径D2(图11B)。就上述的连接器100和200而言,筒夹910的内表面可包括一个或多个位于远端1012处或远端附近的螺纹和/或类似结构特征,以便啮合匹配的连接器150上的对应螺纹。筒夹910远端1012的收缩能使筒夹910牢固地握住匹配的连接器1150,同时,避免出现与传统螺口F型连接器相关的拧得过紧和拧不紧的问题。
图12A和12B是根据本发明另一实施例构造的连接器1200(例如,阳F-连接器)的前视立体图。在图12A中,连接器1200显示为处于“打开”位置,而在图12B中,连接器1200处于与匹配的连接器1150(例如,阴F连接器)啮合的“关闭”位置。连接器1200的在结构和功能上的许多特征至少大致类似于以上详述的连接器100、200和900的对应特征。例如,首先参照图12A,连接器1200包括接纳电缆1235(例如,同轴电缆)端部的连接器本体1202。电缆1235包括突出穿过筒夹1210的中心导体1237。筒夹1210可移动地被接纳在连接器本体1202内的锥形内孔内,筒夹1210在结构和功能上至少大致类似于以上详述的筒夹910。

因此,在所示的实施例中,驱动部分1222执行两个功能:它们向前驱动筒夹1210,以使筒夹1210与匹配的连接器1150啮合,以及它们挤压电缆1235筒夹1210以帮助将电缆1235固定到连接器1200。该特殊实施例的一个益处在于,连接器1200不需要电缆固定器,诸如上述固定器930那样的固定器。
图14是连接器本体1202的放大的立体图,详细地示出了各种结构特征。如该图所示,连接器本体1202包括锥形孔1404,其滑动地接纳筒夹1210(图12A)。内孔1404可包括从其表面向内突出的多个导向结构1472a-d。该导向构件1472可呈突脊、轨道和/或被接纳在筒夹1210狭槽1211内的突起构件的形式(图12A)。导向结构1472防止筒夹1210相对于本体1202有显著的转动,但在掣子1221在“打开”和“关闭”位置之间移动时,允许筒夹1210在内孔1404内前后滑动。在其它实施例中,导向结构1472可省略,并用内孔1404表面内一个或多个凹陷或导向通道替代。导向通道可接纳筒夹1210上对应的导向结构(例如,突出件),以使筒夹1210在运行过程中保持合适的定向。
连接器本体1202还包括第一附连结构1470a和第二附连结构1470b。在所示实施例中,每个附连构件1470包括相对的圆柱形销部分1474。销部分1474可被接纳在掣子1221上对应的插座内(图12A和12B),以将掣子1221可枢转地连接到连接器本体1202。在其它的实施例中,连接器本体1202可包括枢转地附连掣子1221的其它合适的结构。
图15A和15B分别是掣子1221的放大的俯视和仰视立体图。如图15A所示,掣子1221包括朝向掣子1221前端部分的第一插座1580a和相对的第二插座1580b。插座1580可枢转地接纳附连接器本体1202的附连结构1470的相对的销部分1474(图14)。接下来参照图15B,该图示出掣子1221的凹陷的、圆柱形夹紧表面1308。该图还示出夹紧表面1308内形成的一个或多个突脊1309,当掣子1221处于如图13B所示的“关闭”位置时,突脊1309帮助将电缆1235固定在其间。
图16是筒夹1210放大的前视立体图。该图示出了狭槽121a-d,它们从远端1212朝向后表面部分1314延伸。如上所讨论的,当掣子1221的驱动部分1222在连接器本体1202的内孔1404内使筒夹1210向前移动时,狭槽1211能使远端1212向内收缩。
从以上所述可知,为了说明的目的,本文已经描述了各种特殊的实施例,但可作出许多修改而不会脱离本发明各种实施例的精神和范围。例如,图中所示的连接器可包括或多或少的掣子、螺纹、狭槽等。此外,如上所述,锁定机构可以是阳连接器的部分,但在其它实施例中,锁定机构可以在阴连接器上。
Claims (21)
1.一种第一连接器,用于可操作地将电缆连接到匹配的第二连接器,该第一连接器包括:
连接器本体,其具有形成第一内孔的内表面;
可移动地被接纳在所述第一内孔内的筒夹,该筒夹具有形成第二内孔的内表面,所述第二内孔构造成接纳第二连接器;以及
锁定机构,其可操作地连接到连接器本体并具有打开位置和关闭位置,其中,筒夹构造成:当锁定机构处于关闭位置时,可操作地啮合第二连接器,而在锁定机构处于打开位置时,释放该第二连接器。
2.如权利要求1所述的第一连接器,其特征在于,所述筒夹的内表面的一部分包括内螺纹,该内螺纹构造成啮合第二连接器上的外螺纹。
3.如权利要求1所述的第一连接器,其特征在于,所述第一连接器是阳F型连接器,而第二连接器是阴F型连接器。
4.如权利要求1所述的第一连接器,其特征在于,所述筒夹的内表面朝向远端部分向内收缩而呈锥形。
5.如权利要求1所述的第一连接器,其特征在于,所述连接器本体的内表面朝向远端部分向内收缩而呈锥形。
6.如权利要求1所述的第一连接器,其特征在于,所述筒夹包括围绕筒夹的远端部分的周界定位的一个或多个狭槽,所述狭槽构造成在锁定机构移至关闭位置时收缩。
7.如权利要求1所述的第一连接器,其特征在于,
所述锁定机构包括具有夹紧表面的掣子;以及
所述连接器本体包括构造成接纳夹紧表面的开口,所述夹紧表面构造成在所述锁定机构处于关闭位置时啮合容纳在所述连接器本体内的电缆的一部分。
8.如权利要求1所述的第一连接器,其特征在于,
所述连接器本体的内表面包括朝向所述筒夹向内突出的至少一个突起结构;以及
所述筒夹包括构造成可滑动地接纳所述突起结构的至少一个狭槽,所述筒夹构造成当锁定机构在打开和关闭位置之间移动时沿着所述突起结构滑动。
9.如权利要求1所述的第一连接器,其特征在于,
所述连接器本体的内表面包括至少一个通道;以及
所述筒夹包括从筒夹向外突出的至少一个突起结构,所述突起结构可滑动地被接纳在所述通道内,且所述筒夹构造成当锁定机构在打开和关闭位置之间移动时沿着所述通道滑动。
10.如权利要求1所述的第一连接器,其特征在于,
第一连接器是阳F型连接器;
所述连接器本体的内表面和所述筒夹的内表面中的至少一个内表面在远端部分的直径小于近端部分的直径;
所述筒夹的内表面的至少一部分包括内螺纹;以及
所述锁定机构包括可枢转地附连到连接器本体的第一掣子,和沿周向与第一掣子间距开并可枢转地附连到连接器本体的第二掣子,所述第一和第二掣子具有驱动部分,所述驱动部分构造成当所述锁定机构从打开位置朝向关闭位置移动时,使所述筒夹相对于连接体本体朝向远端部分滑动。
11.如权利要求1所述的第一连接器,其特征在于,所述筒夹的内表面没有螺纹。
12.一种第一连接器,用于可操作地将电缆连接到匹配的第二连接器,该第一连接器包括:
连接器本体,其具有形成第一内孔的内表面;
可移动地被接纳在所述第一内孔内的筒夹,该筒夹具有形成第二内孔的内表面,所述第二内孔构造成接纳第二连接器;以及
锁定机构,其可操作地连接到连接器本体并具有打开位置和关闭位置,其中,筒夹构造成:当锁定机构处于关闭位置时,可操作地啮合第二连接器,而在锁定机构处于打开位置时,释放该第二连接器,其中,所述锁定机构包括至少一个可枢转地连接到连接器本体的掣子。
13.如权利要求12所述的第一连接器,其特征在于,所述掣子包括驱动部分,其构造成抵靠在所述筒夹的近端部分上,并在掣子移至关闭位置时,使所述筒夹相对于连接器本体移动。
14.如权利要求12所述的第一连接器,其特征在于,所述掣子包括具有啮合结构的锁定部分,所述啮合结构构造成在掣子处于关闭位置时啮合所述连接器本体的对应部分。
15.如权利要求14所述的第一连接器,其特征在于,所述啮合结构包括钩子,该钩子构造成在掣子处于关闭位置时啮合所述连接器本体的近端部分的边缘。
16.一种将电缆上的第一连接器可操作地连接到第二连接器的方法,该方法包括:
使第一连接器靠近第二连接器定位,所述第一连接器包括连接器本体、筒夹和锁定机构,所述连接器本体具有第一内孔,所述筒夹可滑动地接纳在所述第一内孔中并且构造成接纳位于第二内孔中的第二连接器,所述锁定机构构造成与所述筒夹合作以使所述筒夹相对于所述连接器本体前后滑动;以及
将所述锁定机构从打开位置移向关闭位置,以驱动所述筒夹在所述连接器本体的第一内孔中沿纵向向前朝向第二连接器,并使所述筒夹沿径向收缩到第二连接器上。
17.如权利要求16所述的方法,其特征在于,所述方法还包括使所述锁定机构的锁定部分与所述连接器本体上的啮合结构相啮合,以将所述锁定机构保持在关闭位置。
18.如权利要求16所述的方法,其特征在于,使所述锁定机构移动的步骤包括:使至少一个掣子朝向所述第一连接器向内枢转而从打开位置朝向关闭位置。
19.如权利要求18所述的方法,其特征在于,还包括在掣子处于关闭位置时,啮合锁定机构的至少两个相对的夹紧部分之间的电缆。
20.如权利要求16所述的方法,其特征在于,所述筒夹包括靠近所述第二连接器的端部,且其中,所述方法还包括:当锁定机构从打开位置朝向关闭位置移动时,所述筒夹的端部从第一直径收缩到第二直径,所述第二直径小于第一直径。
21.如权利要求16所述的方法,其特征在于,还包括使所述第二连接器的无螺纹的外表面与所述收缩的筒夹相啮合。
