Abstract

技术领域
本公开一般关于处理器电源系统,且更特定地,关于使用抑制(throttling)技术来防止处理器系统超过预定操作参数的处理器电源系统。
背景技术
现代信息处理系统使用通常产生可观热量的处理器。存在感测处理器的温度的热抑制技术。当处理器的温度超过预定阈值时,系统抑制或降低处理器的时钟频率,以相应降低处理器的温度。以此方式,系统防止不良过热。或者,系统可使用时钟选通(即,停止处理器的时钟)来降低处理器的温度。
功率消耗为当前处理器电源系统设计中的限制因素。系统设计者通常设计处理器电源系统,以提供高达处理器可消耗的预定最大功率限制。在处理器制造期间,制造商可进行测试,以确定操作于样本工作负载功率下的处理器是否超过最大功率限制。制造商可舍弃在执行样本工作负载时超过最大功率限制的处理器。不幸的是,使用真实世界软件应用的真实世界工作负载可能超过样本工作负载功率限制。为解决此情况,系统可使用人为最大功率工作负载限制。然而,使用此人为最大功率工作负载限制可能降低处理器产量,或要求系统向处理器提供更多功率。此两种方法均不良地增加系统成本。
现代信息处理系统(IHS)通常使用电压调整器模块(VRM)来控制电源向IHS的处理器提供的电压或功率。VRM通常包括控制VRM的输出电压的电压ID(VID)寄存器。VRM向处理器提供取决于VID寄存器存储的VID值的输出电压。以此方式,同一VRM模块可供应具有不同电压需要的多个处理器。不幸的是,IHS组件(诸如处理器及电源系统)的值或属性可随时间而变化或浮动(drift)。在IHS制造商构建IHS时指示VRM输出特定期望的电压的VID值可能不会在将来产生适当的供应电压。这归因于组件随时间而改变值的趋势。
发明内容
需要一种解决上述问题的方法及装置。
因此,在一实施例中,公开了一种用来向处理器供电的方法,该处理器包括在半导体衬底上的处理器电路。该方法包括:由电源系统向该处理器供电,其中该处理器电路包括多个核心(core)。该方法还包括:如果该处理器从该电源系统消耗的功率超过预定阈值功率,则由该电源系统抑制该处理器的至少一个核心,从而将该处理器置于功率抑制模式下。该方法还包括:由该电源系统确定该处理器中的该处理器电路从该电源系统接收的实际输出电压。该方法进一步包括:响应于该电源系统的该实际输出电压与预期输出电压之间的检测到的差异,由该电源系统随时间动态地改变该实际输出电压。

具体实施方式
图1示出处理器系统100的框图,该处理器系统100包括耦接至电源系统110的处理器105。电源系统110包括向处理器105供电的电压调整器模块(VRM)115。电源系统110还包括耦接至处理器105与VRM 115的功率控制器120。在一实施例中,功率控制器120为执行与处理器105不同的指令集的微控制器。以此方式,功率控制器120可独立于处理器105而操作。VRM115在功率控制器120的控制下向处理器105供电。在一实施例中,VRM 115经由电源线125向处理器电源输入105A提供多相电源。

处理器105包括在处理器105所在的同一半导体芯片或衬底140上的热传感器135。A/D转换器145耦接于热传感器135与功率控制器温度输入120A之间,以连续地向功率控制器120通知处理器105当前呈现的温度。
处理器105包括提供感测电压VSENSE的电压感测输出105B,该感测电压VSENSE对应于作为VRM 115提供至处理器105的功率的结果的、处理器105的内部电路所经受的供应电压。换言之,VSENSE为处理器105的内部电路在考虑VRM 115的电源与处理器105之间的IR压降时的在芯片级别处经受的电压。处理器105的电压感测输出105B耦接至VRM 115,以向VRM115通知处理器105经受的当前内部供应电压(即,VSENSE电压)。电容器150耦接于电压感测输出105B与接地之间。A/D转换器155耦接于电压感测输出105B与功率控制器电压输入120B之间,以向功率控制器120通知处理器105当前呈现的瞬时内部供应电压VSENSE。

因此,A/D转换器145、155及165分别向功率控制器输入120A、120B及120C连续地提供处理器芯片温度信息、处理器电压信息及处理器电流信息。此温度信息、电压信息及电流信息可随时间而变化。功率控制器120由在不同时间点将电压信息与电流信息相乘,来动态地确定由处理器105从VRM 115汲取的瞬时功率。在一实施例中,所述时间点为周期性的。在另一实施例中,所述时间点为非周期性或不定期的。若功率控制器120确定处理器105消耗的功率超过预定的功率级别,则功率控制器120可采取若干不同措施来减少功率消耗。在一实施例中,功率控制器120可指示核心1、2、...、N中的一个或多个减慢其各自的管线中的指令的执行。举例而言,功率控制器120可将控制信号发送至处理器核心1的调度控制电路1D,以降低指令调度的速率。若功率控制器120确定由处理器105汲取的功率仍超过预定功率阈值,则功率控制器120可指示处理器核心中的另一个(例如,处理器核心2)降低其指令调度速率。功率控制器120重复地监测由处理器105汲取的功率。一旦由处理器105汲取的功率降低至预定阈值功率以下,则功率控制器120可指示各自的核心的调度控制器增加它们的调度速率。以此方式,功率控制器120管理由处理器105在其执行指令时汲取的功率,否则,该功率将产生超过预定期望的功率级别的密集的处理器活动性。

尽管系统100可如上所示而进行功率抑制,但系统100还可对处理器105进行热抑制。A/D转换器145连续地向功率控制器120的输入120A提供半导体芯片140的瞬时温度。若处理器105的温度超过预定阈值温度,则功率控制器120可指示处理器核心1、2、...、N中的一个或多个开始指令调度速率降低或时钟选通。当处理器105充分冷却以至于其温度不再超过预定阈值温度时,功率控制器120可随后指示处理器核心中的一个或多个停止指令调度速率降低及/或时钟选通。
当功率控制器120启动功率抑制或热抑制时,此抑制措施使处理器105退出其正常全功率模式,并进入处理器105从VRM 115汲取较少功率的抑制模式。当功率控制器120不启动功率抑制或热抑制时,处理器105在正常全功率模式下操作。处理器105还有可能进入诸如休眠状态或休止状态的低功率状态。
电压调整器模块(VRM)115为包括电压识别(VID)寄存器170的稳压电源(regulated power supply)。VRM115在主输出115B处提供可变的稳定(regulated)DC供应电压。VRM 115的输出电压直接随VID寄存器170存储的特定VID值而变化。在一代表性实施例中,VID寄存器170存储确定VRM输出电压的5位VID值。可取决于特定应用,将少于或多于5的位用作VID。在处理器系统100中,功率控制器120包括耦接至VID总线175的输出120D。VID总线175将功率控制器输出120D耦接至VRM 115的VID寄存器170。以此方式,功率控制器120向控制VRM 115在主输出115B处产生的输出电压的VID寄存器170提供5位VID值。来自功率控制器120的不同VID值在VRM主输出115B处产生不同输出电压值。
在一实施例中,功率控制器120随时间而动态地调整VID总线175上的VID的值,以增加VRM 115向处理器105提供的输出电压的精度。当功率控制器120使处理器105进入抑制模式时、或当处理器105在全功率模式下操作时,在该两种状况下,功率控制器120还可增大或减小VRM 115向处理器105提供的电压,以更精确地与VID指示的电压相匹配。功率控制器120可存取来自A/D 155的准确电压读数及来自A/D 160的准确电流读数。因此,功率控制器120可准确地测定处理器105经受的VRM 115实际电压,并基于所测定的电流及负载线来确定VRM 115的预期电压。利用此信息,功率控制器120调整VID总线175上的VID,以抵消电路组件及所得电压随时间而浮动的趋势。换言之,在给出来自A/D 155的实际电压信息及来自A/D 165的实际电流信息的情况下,功率控制器120获知处理器105在芯片级处经受的实际电压,并进一步获知处理器105消耗的功率。功率控制器120还获知其提供至VRM的VID寄存器170的VID值,其产生处理器105经受的实际电压。此VID值对应于VRM 115产生的预期电压。功率控制器120随时间而改变VID值,以改变处理器105经受的实际电压,使其大致等于或较紧密地接近于设计者规定的原始预期VRM输出电压。
在一方法中,设计者规定VRM 115的原始预期输出电压,并设置功率控制器120在VID总线175上产生的VID值,以指示VRM 115产生此原始预期输出电压。功率控制器120使用A/D转换器155来测定处理器105经受的实际电压。处理器105经受的实际电压可归因于电路组件及所得电压随时问而浮动的趋势而随时间改变。功率控制器120改变VID,以改变预期输出电压,并相应地改变处理器105经受的实际输出电压,以补偿实际输出电压随时间的变化。以此方式,功率控制器120使处理器105实际经受的电压较紧密地接近于VID指示的电压。
在一代表性实施例中,VRM 115在输出115B处产生可在0.8伏特至1.4伏特的全部范围内变化的输出电压。在代表性VRM 115的状况下,一旦VRM输出电压由特定VID设置,实际输出电压便精确地处于编程的输出电压加或减20mV的范围内。在0.8伏特至1.4伏特的全部范围内,VID为可变的,以在一种情况下以12.5mV步长或在另一情况下以6.25mV步长来改变输出电压。取决于特定应用,其它电压范围及其它电压步长大小也是可能的。尽管刚刚在制造之后、特定VID指示VRM产生的电压可能非常准确,但处理器105于内部经受的实际电压(即,VSENSE)可能随时间(诸如,若干天、星期、月或年)改变并浮动。所公开的方法使功率控制器能够周期性地或不定期地监测内部处理器电压,且当该电压过低时加上一个或多个电压步长,或当该电压过高时减去一个或多个电压步长。以此方式,电源系统110提供处理器电压随时间的动态校正。
图2为描绘上述抑制方法的一实施例的流程图。当系统100在块200处初始化时操作开始。更具体地,处理器105及功率控制器120在块200中初始化,其中每一器件执行不同指令集。按照块205,功率控制器120自A/D转换器155读取瞬时电压V,且进一步自A/D转换器165读取瞬时电流I。按照块210,功率控制器120通过将瞬时电压与瞬时电流相乘,而确定处理器105当前消耗的瞬时功率。在此时间点,处理器105以无功率或热抑制的全功率模式操作。处理器105还可能在诸如休眠状态或休止状态的低功率状态下操作。
按照测试块215,功率控制器120进行测试,以确定当前瞬时功率是否大于预定阈值功率值。举例而言,该预定阈值功率值可等于最大功率减去德耳塔值(MAX-DELTA)。最大功率为代表处理器105可安全地操作的最高功率级别的功率值。德耳塔值为可被选择以确定抑制开始的触发点的任意差。若块215的测试确定当前瞬时功率不大于预定阈值功率值,则处理器105不进入抑制模式。相反,在这些情形下,按照图2的块220,系统100执行图3中所示的动态电压校正(DVC)方法。在执行图3的方法后,处理流程返回至图2的方法,且功率控制器120再次在块205处读取瞬时电压及电流值。按照块210,功率控制器120再次确定处理器105消耗的当前瞬时功率。若瞬时功率现在超过预定阈值功率值,则按照块225,处理器105通过启用抑制而进入抑制模式。
举例而言,按照块230,处理器105可通过确定处理器105从当前瞬时电压及电流值汲取的当前瞬时功率,而进入功率抑制模式。在实际实践中,功率控制器105可读取并使用块210确定的功率。在此功率抑制模式下,功率控制器120采取措施,以减少处理器105消耗的功率量,直至该功率小于预定阈值功率值为止。为减少功率消耗,按照块235,功率控制器120选择一个或多个处理器核心1、2、...、N以进行功率抑制。举例而言,功率控制器120可选择处理器核心1来进行抑制。按照调节抑制块240,功率控制器120随后通过指示处理器核心1中的调度控制单元1D降低处理器核心1中的指令调度速率而调节针对处理器核心1的抑制。按照测试块245,功率控制器120接着进行测试,以确定处理器105现在汲取的功率是否小于预定阈值功率值。若处理器105汲取的功率仍不小于预定阈值功率值,则功率控制器120可更积极地抑制处理器核心1及/或抑制其它处理器核心。此外,为降低处理器功率消耗,功率控制器120可时钟选通处理器核心中的一个或多个,从而瞬间停止这些核心中的指令流。在这些额外功率抑制措施之后,按照判定块245,功率控制器120再次进行测试,以确定由处理器105汲取的当前功率是否小于预定阈值功率值。若功率控制器120现在发现所汲取的功率小于预定阈值功率值,则按照块250,功率控制器120禁用抑制,且处理流程继续回到读取电压与读取电流块205。
在一实施例中,当在抑制模式下时,功率控制器120可进行除功率抑制外或替代功率抑制的热抑制。功率控制器120监测热传感器135及A/D转换器145提供的处理器105的瞬时温度。换言之,功率控制器120除读取处理器105当前消耗的功率外还读取处理器105的温度。若处理器105的温度高于预定阈值温度值、及/或处理器105当前消耗的功率大于预定阈值功率值,则功率控制器120调节一个或多个处理器核心1、2、...、N的抑制,如上文关于调节抑制块240所述。功率控制器120接着进行测试,以确定瞬时温度现在是否低于预定阈值温度值,且若如此,则处理流程通过禁用抑制块250而继续回到读取块205。
在一实施例中,当功率控制器120按照块240而调节功率抑制、且所得瞬时功率不小于预定阈值功率值时,功率控制器120在处理流程继续回到读取功率块230之前按照块255而进行图3的动态电压校正方法。
图3为描绘校正处理器供应电压随时间的不利浮动及变化的动态电压校正方法的一实施例的流程图。在一实施例中,当功率控制器120遇到图2流程图的执行DVC块220或255时,功率控制器120执行动态电压校正方法。返回至图3流程图,动态电压校正方法开始于初始块300。功率控制器120随时间而周期性地或不定期地执行动态电压校正。按照块305,功率控制器120进行测试,以确定现在是否为执行此校正方法的时间。举例而言,块305进行测试,以确定时间T当前是否等于测试时间(TEST TIME)。若时间T不等于测试时间,则按照块310,功率控制器120使时间T递增,且处理流程经由返回块315而返回至图2的抑制方法的DVC块220或DVC块255。
按照测试块325,功率控制器120进行测试,以确定其应进入动态电压校正(DVC)模式1还是动态电压校正(DVC)模式2。功率控制器120在系统100当前在全功率模式或抑制模式下操作时选择DVC模式1。然而,功率控制器120在处理器105当前在诸如休眠状态或休止状态的极低功率状态下操作时选择DVC模式2。在此休眠或休止状态下,处理器105不再主动执行可正确地在较低电压设置下操作进而进一步提供功率节省的应用程序代码,而是等待用户或其它事件唤醒系统并将其恢复至全功率模式或抑制模式。当处理器105处于全功率模式或抑制模式下时,其仍可执行应用软件,但在抑制模式下以较慢速率执行。然而,在一实施例中,当处于休眠或休止状态下时,处理器105不执行应用程序代码。因此,取决于处理器105当前处于全功率/抑制模式还是极低功率状态(诸如休眠或休止状态)下,来确定判定块325分别选择DVC模式1还是DVC模式2的路径。
若处理器105处于全功率模式或抑制模式下,则按照块330,功率控制器120比较其从A/D转换器155读取的实际电压(AV)与其预期自A/D转换器155读取的预期电压(EV)。预期电压(EV)为功率控制器120指示VRM115发送至处理器105的电压,即,对应于功率控制器120发送至VRM115的VID的电压。若测试块335确定实际电压(AV)等于预期电压(EV),则处理流程经由返回块340而返回至图2流程图的DVC方法块220、或DVC方法块255。然而,若判定块335确定实际电压(AV)不等于预期电压(EV),则功率控制器120按照块345,通过增大或减小VID来采取校正措施以分别校正处理器105的电压低或高出的量。在实际实践中,功率控制器120通过将经校正的VID写入VRM 115的VID寄存器170中来执行此校正。VRM 115设置可能电压调整的粒度。在一实施例中,VRM 115可以诸如6.25mV或12.5mV步长的步长来调节其输出电压。对于值得进行预期输出电压的此电压调节而言,实际输出电压的电压浮动量应为步长大小的至少一半。在校正供应电压之后,功率控制器120按照块350而将时间T设置为0,使得下一次执行图3的方法时功率控制器可再次进行检查,以确定是否在其再次执行DVC方法之前经过了足够的时间量。时间计数T在功率控制器120不执行图3的DVC方法时继续增加,使得功率控制器随时间而执行连续DVC测试。DVC方法接着完成,且处理流程经由返回块355而继续至图2流程图的DVC方法块220或DVC方法块255。
若测试块325确定处理器105当前处于诸如休眠状态或休止状态的极低功率状态下,则功率控制器120进入动态电压校正模式2,以降低VRM 115向处理器105提供的电压,以获得更大效率。按照块370,功率控制器120比较其从A/D转换器155读取的实际电压(AV)与其预期从A/D转换器155读取的预期电压(EV)。若测试块375确定实际电压(AV)等于预期电压(EV),则处理流程经由返回块380而返回至图2流程图的DVC方法块220或DVC方法块255。然而,若判定块375确定实际电压(AV)不等于预期电压(EV),则按照块385,功率控制器120减小VID以降低VRM 115向处理器105提供的电压。在包括较低频率操作及/或降低的功能的功率管理模式下,系统100电路可成功地在低于全功率操作所需的电压下操作。这允许在进入功率管理状态之后将VRM 115编程至寄存器170处的较低VID设置。所得电压降低可取决于系统支持的频率或功能降低量而显著的。在一实施例中,电压降低可为一个VID步长或高达数百毫伏的若干VID步长。功率控制器120通过将经校正的VID写入VRM 115的ID寄存器170中,来执行此校正。
图4为在x轴上描绘电流且在y轴上描绘VSENSE电压的VRM 115的负载线。在一实施例中,VRM 115为在最大功率点处下降至其最低输出电压的负载线调整器型VRM。此配置的益处在于,若处理器105将突发功率需求置于VRM115上,则去耦电容器(位于VRM中,但未图示)存储的电压归因于已使负载线提高而较高,且因此在VRM可作出反应之前存在可用来提供突发电流需求的较多存储能量。这通过限制系统100的其它电路所需的去耦量,而允许减少VRM电源的下降,并使得成本降低为可能。
当设计者实施具有诸如图4中的负载线的负载线的VRM 115时,VRM115将基于VID寄存器170的VID设置及115A处的内部电流测定而提供输出电压。对于具有如图4中所示的1毫欧负载线的VRM 115而言,105B处的电压VSENSE等于VID设置电压,其具有负容差(tolerance minus)(以安培为单位而测定的电流×.001V)。
理想的VRM 115将提供VSENSE读数EV=(I×LL)+CENTER VID,其中,EV为VRM 115提供的预期电压,I为VRM 115提供的所测定的电流,且LL为以伏特为单位的负载线。通过分别自A/D转换器165及155获得实际电流及电压测定,VRM 115的实际性能为可测定的,且可与预期理想性能相比。这些测定确定是否需要VID设置的进一步调整,以改良处理器105经受的VSENSE电压的精度。
图5为类似于图1的处理器系统100的处理器系统500的框图,不同之处在于,在图5的处理器系统500中,半导体芯片或衬底540为在上面包括处理器105与功率控制器120的集成电路。图5的功率控制器120在处理器105与功率控制器120执行程序代码的不同指令集的意义上仍独立于处理器105。若处理器105部分或完全断电,则功率控制器120仍在操作,以监测功率及热状况。功率控制器120与A/D转换器145、155及165合作,以分别准确测定半导体芯片540上的热状况、处理器105于内部经受的电压及处理器105汲取的电流。
图6示出使用一使用所公开的功率控制技术的处理器-处理器电源系统100、500的信息处理系统(IHS)600。在一实施例中,处理器-处理器电源系统100、500使用异构(heterogeneous)处理器,即,包括具有第一指令集的至少一通用处理器单元、及具有不同于该通用处理器的架构及指令集的架构及指令集的至少一其它处理器单元的处理器。举例而言,该其它处理器可为专门的处理器单元或专用处理器。处理器-处理器电源系统100或500经由总线615而耦接至存储器系统610。总线615还将处理器-处理器电源系统100、500耦接至视频图形控制器620。显示器625耦接至视频图形控制器620。非易失性存储器630(如硬盘驱动器、CD驱动器、DVD驱动器、或其它非易失性存储器)耦接至总线615,以向IHS 600提供信息的永久存储。操作系统635载入于存储器610中,以支配IHS 600的操作。I/O装置640(诸如,键盘及鼠标指向(mouse pointing)装置)耦接至总线615。一个或多个扩展总线645(诸如,USB、IEEE 1394总线、ATA、SATA、PCI、PCIE及其它总线)耦接至总线615,以帮助外设及器件至IHS 600的连接。网络适配器650耦接至总线615,以使IHS 600能够有线或无线地连接至网络及其它信息处理系统。尽管图6示出了一个使用处理器-处理器电源系统100、500的IHS,但IHS可采用许多形式。举例而言,IHS 600可采用桌面型、服务器型、便携式、膝上型、笔记本式或其它外形尺寸(form factor)的计算机或数据处理系统。IHS 600可采用诸如个人数字助理(PDA)、游戏机、便携式电话装置、通信装置或包括处理器及存储器的其它器件的外形尺寸。
上述内容公开一种用于处理器的功率控制系统,该功率控制系统在多个模式下操作以节省功率并确保处理器的可靠操作。
鉴于本发明的此描述,本发明的修改及替代实施例对于本领域的技术人员而言将显而易见。相应地,此描述向本领域的技术人员教示进行本发明的方式且意欲仅被视作说明性的。所图解并描述的本发明的形式构成本发明实施例。本领域的技术人员可进行部件的形状、大小及配置的各种改变。举例而言,本领域的技术人员可以等效组件替代本文所说明并描述的组件。此外,在不脱离本发明的范畴的情况下,本领域的技术人员在受益于本发明的此描述后可独立于其它特征的使用而使用本发明的某些特征。
Claims (18)
1、一种用于向处理器供电的方法,该处理器包括在半导体衬底上的处理器电路,该方法包括:
由电源系统向该处理器供电,其中,该处理器电路包括多个核心;
如果该处理器从该电源系统消耗的功率超过预定阈值功率,则由该电源系统抑制该处理器的至少一个核心,从而将该处理器置于功率抑制模式下;
由该电源系统确定该处理器中的该处理器电路从该电源系统接收的实际输出电压;以及
响应于该电源系统的该实际输出电压与预期输出电压之间的检测到的差异,由该电源系统改变该实际输出电压。
2、如权利要求1的方法,进一步包括:由该电源系统产生控制该预期输出电压的输出电压识别信号。
3、如权利要求2的方法,其中,改变步骤包括:如果该实际输出电压低于该预期输出电压,则由该电源系统改变该输出电压识别信号,以增加该实际输出电压。
4、如权利要求2的方法,其中,改变步骤包括:如果该实际输出电压高于该预期输出电压,则由该电源系统改变该输出电压识别信号,以降低该实际输出电压。
5、如权利要求1的方法,其中,抑制步骤包括:由该电源系统降低所述核心中的至少一个调度指令的速率。
6、如权利要求1的方法,其中,抑制步骤包括:由该电源系统时钟选通所述核心中的至少一个。
7、如权利要求1的方法,进一步包括:如果该处理器从该电源系统消耗的功率不超过该预定阈值功率,则由该处理器以全功率模式操作。
8、如权利要求1的方法,其中,该电源系统响应于该处理器进入休眠状态及休止状态之一,执行改变步骤,以降低该实际输出电压。
9、一种用于向处理器供电的设备,该处理器包括具有与半导体衬底相关联的多个核心的处理器电路,该设备与可耦接至该处理器的电源系统一起使用,用于对处理器供电,该设备包括:
功率控制器,如果该处理器消耗大于预定阈值功率的功率,则抑制该处理器的至少一个核心,从而将该处理器置于功率抑制模式下;
可耦接至该处理器电路及该功率控制器的传感器,用于确定该处理器电路从该电源系统接收到的实际输出电压;及
可耦接至该功率控制器及该处理器的电压调整器,用于响应于该功率控制器在该电压调整器的该实际输出电压与预期输出电压之间检测到的差异,而改变该实际输出电压。
10、如权利要求9的设备,还包括一部件,用于产生对应于该预期输出电压的输出电压识别信号。
11、如权利要求10的设备,还包括一部件,用于如果该实际输出电压低于该预期输出电压,则改变该输出电压识别信号以增加该实际输出电压。
12、如权利要求10的设备,还包括一部件,用于如果该实际输出电压高于该预期输出电压,则改变该输出电压识别信号以降低该实际输出电压。
13、如权利要求9的设备,还包括一部件,用于通过降低所述核心中的至少一个调度指令的速率,来抑制该处理器。
14、如权利要求9的设备,还包括一部件,用于通过时钟选通所述核心中的至少一个,来抑制该处理器。
15、如权利要求9的设备,还包括一部件,用于如果该处理器从该电源系统消耗的该功率不超过该预定阈值功率,则允许该处理器以全功率模式操作。
16、如权利要求9的设备,还包括一部件,用于响应于该处理器进入休眠状态及休止状态中的一个,指示该电压调整器降低该实际输出电压。
17、一种信息处理系统(IHS),其包括:
处理器,其包括具有位于半导体衬底上的多个核心的处理器电路;
存储器,其可耦接至该处理器;及
可耦接至该处理器的电源系统,其用于向该处理器供电,该电源系统包括:
功率控制器,用于如果该处理器消耗大于预定阈值功率的功率,则抑制该处理器的至少一个核心,从而将该处理器置于功率抑制模式下;
可耦接至该处理器电路及该功率控制器的传感器,用于确定该处理器电路从该电源系统接收到的实际输出电压;及
可耦接至该功率控制器及该处理器的电压调整器,其用于响应于该功率控制器在该电压调整器的该实际输出电压与预期输出电压之间检测到的差异,而改变该实际输出电压。
18、一种包括程序代码组件的计算机程序,其被适配为当在计算机上运行所述程序时,执行权利要求1至8中的任一个的所有步骤。
