图3a和3b示出了在20x放大倍率的显微镜下的打印图样的照片。图样是用溶态食品级墨打印的镀镍带。在图3a中,用热空气枪加热至大约50-60℃的镍带400示出了打印区域401和未打印区域402。图3b示出了在室温下打印的具有打印区域501和未打印区域502的镍带500。图3a和3b中的照片的右手侧的标尺具有1mm的刻度。
在图3b中,图像质量由于增加的在基底上的微滴扩散量而比较糟糕。在室温下的斑点直径大约为0.005英寸。边缘模糊且未良好界定,墨流入未打印区域502。在图3b中的未打印区域之间的距离大于在图3a中的加热带中的未打印区域402之间的距离。
作为对比,图3a中的加热带具有更好的图像质量,其斑点直径大约为0.002-0.0025英寸,是室温带的斑点直径的一半。图3a中的边缘更为清晰,并且墨没有如图3b中的室温带那样多地流入未打印区域。加热基底减慢了溶态墨的微滴扩散并产生了更好的图像质量。
参考图4a和4b,打印系统200包括:打印头202;用于在打印前或打印后加热基底(即,织物)205的辐射热源204;用以供应墨至打印头202的储墨器206;和电连接于运送装置212、打印头202、和辐射热源204的控制器210。运送装置212能够具有连通于真空源214的开口212用以抽吸所述织物205至运送装置。这有助于打印及加热基底。
图4b中的打印系统另外包括在运送装置212上方的传感器208用以检测织物205在加热之后的温度。传感器208发送温度读数至控制器210。控制器210能够使用温度读数以被动监测织物是否被加热到受控温度,或者主动监测织物是否已经达到预定温度并准备打印。控制器210能够使用温度读数以调节加热器的温度。控制器210另外能够使用温度读数以移动运送装置212,如果织物205已经达到所希望的温度。
辐射热源204另外能够用于在不能平置于压板上的非平面基底上的打印,因为平板状热源不可以能够快速加热顶表面。辐射热源能够定位热至非平面基底上的特定区域并快速加热该区域。
平板状热源另外能够用以加热非平面基底,并且辐射热源能够用以加热平面基底。辐射热源能够包括红外光和白炽光。
回头参考图1a、1b、4a和4b,打印系统能够可选地包括或去除所示出的一些特性。这些特性也能够以不同的构造布置。例如,打印系统能够包括更多的传感器或去除控制器。打印头、风扇、传感器和加热器能够定位在不同位置中,比如在基底下方、在基底上方、或邻接于基底。

Claims (29)
1.一种喷墨系统,其包括:
喷墨打印头,其用于将溶态墨打印在基底上;
加热器,其在喷墨打印头的上游加热所述基底;和
控制器,用于控制加热器的温度,以加热基底,使得所述基底的温度能够在溶态墨打印到所述基底上时造成溶态墨中的溶剂蒸发,所述控制器基于至少所述溶态墨的材料属性来控制所述加热器的温度。
2.如权利要求1所述的喷墨系统,其中,所述溶态墨包括具有308K至464K的沸点的溶剂。
3.如权利要求1所述的喷墨系统,其中,用于加热基底的加热器加热所述基底至所述溶剂的沸点的±25%的温度。
4.如权利要求1所述的喷墨系统,其中,所述控制器基于基底的材料属性的信息来控制温度。
5.如权利要求1所述的喷墨系统,其中,还包括相对于所述基底定位的风扇。
6.如权利要求5所述的喷墨系统,其中,所述风扇与所述控制器电连接。
7.如权利要求1所述的喷墨系统,其中,还包括用于检测所述加热器的温度的传感器。
8.如权利要求1所述的喷墨系统,其中,还包括用于相对于所述打印头移动基底的运送装置。
9.如权利要求8所述的喷墨系统,其中,所述运送装置与所述控制器电连接。
10.如权利要求1所述的喷墨系统,其中,所述加热器包括一压板。
11.如权利要求10所述的喷墨系统,其中所述压板包括与真空源连通的开口。
12.如权利要求1所述的喷墨系统,其中,所述加热器是辐射热源。
13.如权利要求1所述的喷墨系统,其中,所述加热器是盒式加热器。
14.如权利要求1所述的喷墨系统,其中,所述加热器是热空气源。
15.如权利要求1所述的喷墨系统,其中,所述基底具有0.001W/cmK或更大的导热率。
16.一种喷墨系统,其包括:
喷墨打印头,其用于将溶态墨打印在基底上,所述溶态墨包括具有沸点的溶剂;
加热器,其在所述喷墨打印头的上游加热所述基底;和
控制器,其用于控制加热器的温度,以加热基底,使得所述基底的温度能够在溶态墨打印到所述基底上时大约为所述溶剂的沸点,所述控制器基于至少所述溶态墨的材料属性来控制所述加热器的温度。
17.一种打印的方法,其包括:
将溶态墨打印在所述基底上;和。
控制在打印处上游加热基底的加热器的温度,使得所述基底的温度能够在溶态墨打印到所述基底上时造成溶态墨中的溶剂蒸发,所述控制器基于至少所述溶态墨的材料属性来控制所述加热器的温度。
18.如权利要求17所述的方法,其中,打印溶态墨还包括喷墨打印所述溶态墨。
19.如权利要求17所述的方法,其中,加热所述基底还包括加热所述基底至大约所述溶剂的沸点。
20.如权利要求19所述的方法,其中,所述溶剂的沸点为308K至464K。
21.如权利要求17所述的方法,其中,加热所述基底至所述溶剂的所述沸点的±25%。
22.如权利要求17所述的方法,其中,还包括沿着运送装置移动基底。
23.如权利要求17所述的方法,其中,还包括检测所述加热器的温度。
24.如权利要求17所述的方法,其中,还包括加热所述基底15秒或更少的时间。
25.如权利要求17所述的方法,其中,还包括用盒式加热器加热所述基底。
26.如权利要求17所述的方法,其中,还包括用辐射热源加热所述基底。
27.如权利要求17所述的方法,其中,还包括在压板上加热基底,所述压板具有连通于真空源的开口。
28.如权利要求17所述的方法,其中,还包括调整所述加热器的加热。
29.一种喷墨系统,其包括:
喷墨打印头,其用于将溶态墨打印在基底上,所述溶态墨包括具有为308K至464K的沸点的溶剂,所述基底具有至少0.001W/cmK的导热率,
加热器,其在所述喷墨打印头的上游加热所述基底;和
控制器,其用于基于至少溶态墨的材料属性的信息以及控制加热器的温度,以加热基底至所述溶剂的所述沸点的±25%,使得所述基底的温度能够在溶态墨打印到所述基底上时造成溶态墨中的溶剂蒸发。
