本发明涉及二氧化钛混合氧化物作为光催化剂的用途。
从EP-A-778812中,得知了通过四氯化钛与硅、锗、硼、锡、铌、铬、铝、金、银或钯的氯化物在火焰中的反应而制造的,用于光催化用途的二氧化钛混合氧化物颗粒。这里,具有特别重要性的是硅-和铝-钛混合氧化物颗粒。已经公开二氧化硅含量在大约5-10wt.%的这种混合氧化物粉末对于光催化目的不是优选的。进而,据报道混合氧化物粉末中锐钛矿含量和相应的光催化活性随二氧化硅含量的增加而增加。从这些报道中,可以推断仅对超过10%的二氧化硅含量,光催化活性明显升高。
从DE-A-1026718中,得知了二氧化硅含量为0.5-40重量%的二氧化硅涂覆的二氧化钛颗粒。此颗粒显示出低的光催化活性,因此优选适用于防晒配制品中。
在DE-A-42359996中,记载了基于混合氧化物的二氧化硅含量为1-30wt.%的硅-钛混合氧化物颗粒。该混合氧化物显示出高的温度耐受性,然而二氧化硅含量降低了光催化活性。
WO03/037994公开了用硅、铝、铈和/或锆的氧化物涂覆的二氧化钛颗粒。这种涂料能有效防止光催化反应。在表面改性物质的存在下,使二氧化硅的前体沉淀到二氧化钛颗粒上,和可选地实施水热处理,由此获得所述颗粒。基于二氧化钛,二氧化硅的含量为0.1-10wt.%。超过0.1wt.%就可观察到光催化活性显著降低。
EP-A-988853和EP-A-1284277公开了二氧化硅涂覆的二氧化钛颗粒,其中,二氧化硅涂层导致光催化活性降低。因此,所述颗粒主要用在防晒配制品中。
现有技术中给出的技术教导是,含有二氧化钛的混合氧化物组分导致光催化活性的降低。
本发明基于提供一种适宜用作光催化剂的物质的问题。
本发明的目的是二氧化钛混合氧化物作为光催化剂的用途,其中该二氧化钛混合氧化物具有下述特征:

优选地,可以使用包含超过98.5wt.%二氧化钛和≥0.2wt.%至<1wt.%的第二(其它氧化物)组分的二氧化钛混合氧化物。特别优选地,可以使用包含超过99.0wt.%二氧化钛和≥0.3wt.%至<0.5wt.%的第二组分的二氧化钛混合氧化物。
在本发明中混合氧化物的意义包括以粉末形式、以分散体形式或作为涂覆基质的涂覆组分的混合氧化物。
分散体可以包含水和/或有机溶剂或溶剂混合物作为液相。分散体中二氧化钛混合氧化物的含量可以为不超过70wt.%。进而,分散体可以包含本领域技术人员所知用于调整pH值的添加剂,以及表面活性剂物质。
涂覆基质可以优选地通过将分散体涂覆到基质例如玻璃或聚合物上,然后使其经受热处理而获得。
除二氧化钛之外的其它(第二)氧化物组分的数量优选为1或2,特别优选的是1。
二氧化钛混合氧化物的BET表面积是按照DIN 66131测定的。优选地二氧化钛混合氧化物的BET表面积为约40m2/g至120m2/g。
应当将混合氧化物理解为二氧化钛和其它混合氧化物组分或组分X1、X2、...Xn以原子水平的紧密混合,同时形成X1-O-Ti-、X2-O-Ti-、......、Xn-O-Ti-键。除此之外,初级颗粒还可以具有其中混合氧化物组分和二氧化钛组分一起存在的区域。

基于混合氧化物总量,二氧化钛和其它(第二)混合氧化组分的总量为至少99.5wt.%。而且,二氧化钛混合氧化物可以包含痕量的来自起始物质的杂质,以及工艺过程中产生的杂质。这些杂质含量最高不高于0.5wt.%,但通常不高于0.3wt.%。
第二(其它混合氧化物)组分的含量,基于混合氧化物的总量,为≥0.1wt.%至<2wt.%。除了二氧化钛之外的组分含量小于0.1wt.%的二氧化钛混合氧化物,显示出与具有对等特征的二氧化钛对等的光活性。在含量大于1wt.%时,已可预期光活性会降低。
在二氧化钛混合氧化物中的结晶金红石和锐钛矿组分可以吸收光量子,作为结果,将电子从价带激发到导带。对于金红石,在价带与导带之间的距离为约3.05eV,对应于415nm的吸收。对于锐钛矿,距离为3.02eV,对应于385nm的吸收。假如自由电子迁移到表面,它们可以在那里激发光催化反应。
基于本发明的用途,设想二氧化钛混合氧化物中的初级颗粒包含金红石相和锐钛矿相。此特征对于为实现高的光催化活性是必要的。对于此效果,一个可能的原因是金红石组分捕获的量子被传递到锐钛矿组分,结果在表面上产生活性电子的可能性增大。

与二氧化钛共存的第二(其它)混合氧化物组分可以是无定形和/或结晶型两种。
优选地,可以使用其中二氧化硅组分为无定形的钛-硅混合氧化物。
使用的二氧化钛混合氧化物的结构可以是各种类型的。从而其可以以初级颗粒的聚集体的形式存在,或以单个的非-聚集的初级颗粒存在。第二氧化物组分可以与初级颗粒交叉随机分布,或特别是对于二氧化硅,配置成环绕二氧化钛核心的外壳的形式。
优选地,可以使用热解制备的二氧化钛混合氧化物。应当将本发明的意义上的热解制备的二氧化钛混合氧化物理解为通过可水解的和/或可氧化的起始化合物在水蒸汽和/或氧的存在下在一个高温区域的反应而获得的物质。由此制备出的二氧化钛混合氧化物由没有内表面且在其表面上具有羟基的初级颗粒组成。
实施例:
A.二氧化钛混合氧化物的制备
实施例1:将4.1kg/hr的TiCl4和0.05kg/hr的SiCl4蒸发。借助于氮,将蒸气和2.0Nm3/hr的氢,以及9.1Nm3/hr的干燥空气在已知设计的燃烧器的混合室内混合,经由中心管将其提供给用水冷却的火焰管,在中心管末端点燃反应混合物,它们在火焰管处燃烧。

B.光催化活性
研究了粉末1至4对于脂肪酸降解的光催化活性。
将溶解于正己烷中的硬脂酸甲基酯(简称:硬脂酸甲酯)用作测试物质。对于活性测试,此物质被作为薄的脂肪膜涂覆到待测表面上,首先制备出在支撑材料玻璃上的一层粉末1到4。
为此,分别制备120mg的粉末1至4在2ml异丙醇中的分散体,并将其涂覆到4×9cm的玻璃表面。然后这些层在马弗炉中于100℃下老化60分钟。
将固定量的在正己烷中的硬脂酸甲酯溶液(5mmol/l)涂覆到所获得的这些层上,并首先对其用1.0mW/cm2的UV-A光照射15分钟。
为了测量,将大约500μl的硬脂酸甲酯的己烷溶液(5mmol/l)涂覆到每个混合氧化物层上,从而,基于洗脱的量(5ml的正己烷),获得大约0.5mmol/l的浓度。通过气相色谱(FID)测得的值见表3。
照射结束之后,将残留在混合氧化物层上的硬脂酸甲酯用5ml的正己烷洗脱,并通过气相色谱(FID)定量测试。
与在先获得的参考值的比较,提供涉及此层的光催化活性信息,所述参考值是通过涂布固定量的硬脂酸甲酯,并不经预先照射,用正己烷立即洗脱硬脂酸甲酯层而测量的。
表3显示了在用1.0mW/cm2的UV-A光照射5分钟之后残留在TiO2层上的硬脂酸甲酯的量。
作为参考或对照实验,将粉末2用于在“黑暗实验”中硬脂酸甲酯的降解。
在涂覆500μl的(硬脂酸甲酯的己烷)溶液后,将这些层于黑暗中保持1个小时。接着,用5ml的正己烷洗脱这些层,通过气相色谱测量硬脂酸甲酯浓度。在40μM/hr下降解速率是可以忽略的。
光子效率的测量误差为最大10%。从而黑暗实验值与起初浓度(参考值)的偏差在测量误差范围之内。因而,降解速率可以直接转化成相应的光子效率。用作计算的基础是单个样品的初始降解速率,在每种情况下,此速率在最短的照射时间后测得。
对于实施例3的光子效率的计算:
350nm、36cm2照射面积和1.0mW/cm2下的光子流量(photonflux):3.78*10-4mol*hv*hr-1
分析体积:5ml=0.005l
降解速率:1520μ上M/hr*0.005l=7.6*10-6mol*hr-1
光子效率=降解速率*光子流量
光子效率=7.6*10-6mol*hr-1*3.78*10-4mol*hv*hr-1=2.01×10-2=2.01%
类似地进行实施例1、2和4中的粉末的光子效率的计算。结果重现于表2中。
结果显示使用具有本发明特征的二氧化钛混合氧化物,光催化活性高于使用具有对等特征和经对等生产工艺制得的二氧化钛的光催化活性。
令人惊讶的是,第二(其它混合氧化物)组分含量≥0.1wt.%至<2wt.%,其二氧化钛组分包含共生的金红石相和锐钛矿相的混合氧化钛粉末,可以作为有效的光催化剂而使用。本领域的现有技术实际上暗示混合氧化物组分将导致光催化活性的降低。

Claims (4)
1.二氧化钛混合氧化物作为光催化剂的用途,其中所述二氧化钛混合氧化物具有以下特征:
-BET表面积:5-300m2/g,
-第二组分:选自包括铝、铈、硅、钨、锌和锆的组的一种或几种的氧化物,
-比例:
-二氧化钛大于97.5wt.%,
-第二组分≥0.1wt.%至<2wt.%,
-二氧化钛和第二组分的总含量为至少99.5wt.%,上述比例中的每种都基于所述混合氧化物的总量,
-初级颗粒的二氧化钛含量包括共生的金红石相和锐钛矿相。
2.权利要求1的用途,其特征在于所述混合氧化物中的金红石相/锐钛矿相的比例为1/99至99/1。
3.权利要求1或2的用途,其特征在于混合氧化物的第二组分是二氧化硅。
4.权利要求1至3的用途,其特征在于所述二氧化钛混合氧化物是热解制备的二氧化钛混合氧化物。
