Abstract

技术领域
本发明一般地涉及数字可视内容的查看和浏览。更具体地,本发明涉及在具有比数字可视内容小的显示器的设备上的数字可视内容的查看和浏览。
背景技术
在电子设备上查看web内容是困难的,因为在许多情况下,在给定的时刻仅显示整个页面的一部分。这使得在页面上定位特定的信息的任务变得困难,即使用户粗略地知道特定信息位于内容中的位置。由于内容比屏幕大,用户不得不对文档附近进行滚动,期望找到内容的正确部分。另外,由于用户看不见文档中的周围区域,所以任意给定时刻屏幕上可见的信息的上下文也是不清楚的。
尽管已经做出了解决与电子设备的显示器上的大型内容可视化关联的问题的尝试,但这些尝试中的每个都具有其自己的缺陷。一个常规的系统实现了“分屏”的方法,该方法向文档提供两个视图。一个这样的系统被称为Thunderhawk,是由Bitstream有限公司制造的。然而,该方法具有减小用于两个视图的显示屏尺寸的缺陷。然而,该系统不能在滚动处理期间自动地提供文档的透明总览。

发明内容
本发明通过提供一种系统来解决上面指出的困难,当用户滚动通过文档时,该系统包括文档的透明总览(这里称为小地图(minimap))。
本发明的系统和方法相对于常规系统提供了几种显著的优势。在将被查看的内容大于可用的显示器的情形中,本发明向用户提供文档的总览。在熟悉的内容中,用户可轻易地找到期望的信息。本发明提供一种系统,其中当用户处于滚动通过内容的处理中时,用户可看见小地图,这是期望的;而当用户可能正在阅读实际的内容时看不见小地图,这不是期望的。当用户见到他或她在文档上的当前位置以及他或她可能浏览到下一个的位置时,本发明向用户提供比常规系统更多的上下文。作为特定用户动作的结果或者默认的,小地图也可填满整个显示器。当小地图可见时,小地图的透明度改进了主视图的可用性。另外,当用户没有在文档中滚动或扫视(panning)时,屏幕空间没有被浪费。在其中滚动并且仅周期性地更新小地图的实施方式中,用于本发明的实现的处理功率需求也被降低。另外,在本发明的小地图上使用色彩效果有助于用户寻找到他或她没有查看的内容区域。

具体实施方式
本发明包括添加内容的透明总览(这里称为小地图),以结合内容本身显示。图1和图2示出在其上可实现本发明的一个示例性移动电话12。然而,重要的是要注意到本发明不限于任何类型的电子设备并且可以被并入到例如个人数字助理、个人计算机、移动电话和其他设备的设备中。应该理解本发明可以被并入到各种移动电话12。根据本发明的一个实施方式,图1和图2的移动电话12包括机架30、液晶显示器形式的显示器32、小键盘34、麦克风36、听筒38、电池40、红外线端口42、天线44、UICC形式的智能卡46、卡阅读器48、无线接口电路52、编解码器电路54、控制器56和存储器58。各个电路和元件在现有技术中都是已知的类型,例如诺基亚范围内的移动电话。

在本发明的一个实施方式中,匹配主文档视图102中可见web内容的一部分的矩形框104作为小地图100的一部分示出或在小地图100的上方示出。当用户滚动通过web内容时,矩形框104将相应地自动移动,改变了主文档视图102。当需要时,小地图100中示出的文档的一部分也可以滚动,从而在主文档视图中可见的文档的一部分,加上足量的周围内容,在小地图100中保持可见。

在发明的一个实施方式中,仅周期性地滚动和更新小地图100。该功能有助于节省设备的功率以及减小设备的处理功率需求。出于这些相同的性能原因,小地图100也可不立即反映文档的变化。

Claims (16)
1.一种查看显示在电子设备上的素材的方法,包括:
提供文档,仅在给定的时刻可在显示器上看见该文档的一部分;
在所述显示器上显示所述部分作为主图像;
生成次图像,该次图像包括所述文档中不是所述主图像一部分的部分和附加的素材;以及
响应于用户滚动和扫视通过所述文档的其中一个操作,在所述显示器上同时显示所述次图像和所述主图像,使得仅当用户处于滚动或扫视通过文档的处理时,该用户才可看见所述次图像和所述主图像二者,其中,当所述滚动或扫视停止的时候,所述次图像消退或在一段时间后消除。
