Coolers for internal combustion engines in vehicles and aircraft. l; In vehicles and aircraft, the coolers are usually arranged in such a way that they form a more or less large resistance that counteracts the speed of movement. According to the invention, in order to avoid this inconvenience, the cooler is now placed in the outer skin of the vehicle - and aircraft body relocated and designed in such a way that there are no protruding jumps that inhibit the speed of movement.
For this purpose, the cooler is formed by an uninterrupted, double-walled part of the outer skin of low height and large upper surface.
The surface of the cooler can here be increased by the fact that the cooler expediently has wave-shaped elevations or depressions which run in the direction of flow of the air painting the surface, so that they do not form an obstructive resistance: expediently If the cooler is arranged at such a point on the vehicle or aircraft at which the air speed is relatively as high as possible.
In the drawing, three Ausfüh approximately examples of the subject invention are shown.
Fig. 1 shows the support deck of an aircraft in longitudinal section, in the lower surface of which the cooler is installed; Fig. 2 is also a longitudinal section through the support deck of an aircraft with the cooler built into the lower surface. In this embodiment, however, as can be seen from the cross section of FIG. 3, the radiator walls are formed from undulating; Fig. 4 shows the application of the subject invention He in a vehicle. In the embodiment of FIG. 1, the cooler b is arranged in the supporting deck a by a part of the lower side of the supporting deck being double-walled.
This double-walled cooler space has only a small height and a large surface, so that the heat exchange is supported by the fine distribution of the coolant. Despite the installation of the radiator, the lower side of the supporting deck runs without interruption, so that the radiator does not offer any resistance to the vehicle's movement.
In the embodiment of FIG. The cooler b is also in the lower side of the support deck a. Here the walls of the double-walled space forming the cooler are, in contrast to the embodiment described above, wave-shaped, namely the waves run in the direction of flow of the air flowing in front, so that they do not offer any resistance to the movement.
As can be seen from FIG. the waves in the lower wall c of the double-walled space have a greater height than in the upper wall d; however, the arrangement can also be reversed, or the waves in both walls can have the same height.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 4, the transition wall f located between the seat e and the engine compartment is designed as a water container which has a relatively large surface area and a small (), cross-section height. In this cooler, for example, the water can enter through connection g and, after it has passed through the same, exit through connection lt.
The outer skin cooler according to the inven tion can be arranged at any suitable point on a vehicle or an aircraft; however, it is always expedient to attach it at a point where the flow velocity of the air is as great as possible. The cooler can also be divided into individual elements, the elements being connected to one another or being independent of one another.
