L,# dessin annexé représente, à titre d'exemple, plusieurs formes d'exécution de la ponfpe suivant l'invention: La lig. 1 est. une coupe verticale de l'en semble d'une première forme d'exécution, faite #iiivant l'axe de l'arbre de commande;

Pump for injecting liquid fuel into internal combustion engines. This invention relates to a piston pump for the injection of liquid fuel in internal combustion engines.
Experiments with injection pumps (liquid fuel in internal combustion engines have found that apart from the influence of leaks that a good execution can always reduce to zero, the main obstacle to a good operation is due to the presence of air or gas in the liquid fuel to be injected.
These gases residing in the pump or in the delivery piping have a double effect: in the pump, they reduce its flow: in the piping they form an elastic buffer, (such that the liquid fuel is. In. The pressure in the engine is not when the pump is pumping, but when the pressure in the cylinder is at a minimum.
The experiments of the inventor have also shown that these gases come from within the same liquid, because, for the same pump, the result. is totally different depending on whether one operates with petroleum or freshly boiled water, the leaks being absolutely zero in the heavens. These gases appear to be released by the slight depression which takes place at the time of aspiration and. then no longer liquefy with it. sufficient speed.
These observations made, the inventor, who operated. with an ordinary piston pump automatic suction valve, replaced in this pump said automatic valve by one. valve with mechanical control while keeping the same opening mode for the latter, that is to say from outside and from inside with respect to the pump body.
The result, again bad, seems to indicate that the. souliape was too small. However, its increase gave an even worse result from the point of view of the presence of of gas. The reason for this is due to the valve head itself acting as a piston, and as it closes it tends to create a stain in the pump body. These consicléJ-ations led to the execution of the pump object of the invention.
This pcmi-e has the particularity that the valve (the suction is mechanically controlled and, arranged to open, by the effect of this mechanical-control, from the inside to: the outside with respect to the body of poJnj @e.
Preferably the suction valve is clispc:. # 4'e in the axis of the pump piston and itself forms the bottom of the pump body.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, several embodiments of the ponfpe according to the invention: Lig. 1 is. a vertical section of the assembly of a first embodiment, made #iiivant the axis of the control shaft;
Fig. 2 is. a diagram relating to the respective lifting movements of the pump piston and. of the valve, controlled suction; Fig. 3 shows in vertical section a second embodiment in which the soul) al-e delivery is arranged in the suction valve, La, fig. It shows in vertical section a variance of this second embodiment in which the discharge valve is di_,
installed in the suction valve.
To refer at. fig. 1, it can be seen that 1. designates a camshaft, 2 the cam which actuates the pump piston, 3 the cam which actuates the suction valve of the latter, 4 the frame of the pump, 5 the piston of the p 1 ompe. 6 a stuffing box for said pis ton, i a piston return spring, 8 the cylinder.
the octopus, 9 the suction valve, I (has a guide for this valve, 11 the return spring of said valve, 12 a rod for controlling this valve, 13 a return spring for this rod, 14 a key control valve for the suction valve, rigidly connected to the rod 12, 15 the constant level tank for the liquid fuel, 16 a duct connecting:
said tank at. a chamber 1. 7 , reserved around the suction valve 9 and closed at its lower part by this valve, 18 the lower part of the constant level tank through which the liquid fuel arrives which passes through a filter as usual before entering the body 15 of said reservoir, 19, 20 the level of the liquid in the reservoir 15 and in the chamber 17, the upper part of which is provided with air holes 21,
el 2 \ 2 the automatic discharge valve.
On the. fig. 1, the piston 5 is. represented at the highest point of its course and the. its suction valve 9 is closed, forming the bottom of the pump body cylinder 8.
It is therefore easy to realize due to the harmful space is. reduced to almost zero (it could, moreover, be quite zero, as explained below) and that the valve cl'a.sl-> i- ration 9 is of relatively large section. We see due this valve opens from inside to outside under the control of the cleat. 14 loses by the rod 12 actuated by the cam 3. against the spring. ii which keeps the valve in its seat.
The spring. 11 is (the force sufficient to balance the internal pressure in the pump body at the time of the injection of the fuel liqlihle_ I1 is useful (point out the loans 1-.J=i@f pol 'C111j @ t @ 'llel' 1e # 'az fie To train and to prevent them from staying if he.
was forming nevertheless.
At the moment when the valve 9 rises. as explained, a relative vacuum occurs in cylinder 8 which can cause gas to develop.
But the. quantity (the liquid on which this vacuum acts being very minimal can only give a dliant.ity (the gas also minimal. Besides, we will see the counterpart later. When the piston begins to aspirate, the valve 9 is sufficiently opened by the effect of the cam 3 for the suction to take place as easily as possible.
Chamber 17 has a dual role in this function. Thanks to the air holes 21, it allows the pump to draw directly. its displacement, eliminating the efects of inertia in the piping and the resulting ca vitations. Furthermore. if atmospheric air has. been accidentally
