Method and device to distribute the light of a light source evenly around an axis. A light source sends out rays of light to almost all parts of a room in the center of which it is located. Here, the lighting effect is not the same in all directions, with every lighting there will be directions in which the light intensity is greater. than in other directions. A mean spherical light intensity can be calculated from the different light intensities in the different directions. A piece of surface that is sensitive to a certain distance is illuminated by a given light source with an intensity dependent on this distance.
Gogenstand of the invention is now a method and a device to distribute the light of a light source around an axis so evenly that a strongly illuminated ring surface arises on cylinder surfaces, the axis of which is called axis., Which the stationary eye over its entire Circumference appears to be evenly and continuously illuminated. According to the new method, rays from the light source are concentric to form a bundle of rays, and these rays are rotated sufficiently quickly around said axis.
If a rapid rotation of the bundle of rays about an axis which is approximately perpendicular to the same is executed, then it is awakened. In the eye, it gives the impression that the entire cylinder surface, which the incident light radiates during rotation, is evenly and continuously illuminated. This is related to the appearance of irritation in the eye. Every light stimulus leaves behind. on the retina. an aftermath; If a new stimulus occurs before the previous one weakens, the eye has the impression of continuous lighting.
The number of pulses that have to take place per second in order to avoid the impression of flickering was determined on the occasion of the determination of the number of periods with alternating current lighting to about 30. Another. There is no point in increasing the number of revolutions of the light beam beyond the amount at which the effect of the confusibility on the eye is achieved.
In the accompanying drawing, two exemplary embodiments of the device for carrying out the method are shown, namely: FIG. 1 is a view of an embodiment of the device.
Fig. 2 is a view of the modified guide four of the same, Fig. 3 is a front view of the rotatable mirror in connection with a motor. In Fig. 1, a means a means for summarizing the light beams, for example a spherical or parabolic concave mirror within which the light source is located .. In the axis of the concave mirror, a flat mirror b is provided, which is in a bracket c so is mounted so that it can be rotated as desired about an axis that is perpendicular to the axis of the hollow mirror and can be held Festge in the various positions.
In dash-dotted lines is one. second position of the flat mirror indicated. The hanger itself is. connected to the axis of a motor d and is set in rotation by the latter.
In Fig. 1 the beam path of the cone-shaped light bundle from the concave mirror to the plane mirror and the reflection of these rays by the mirror b is indicated by a ray in the middle of the bundle and two rays, the generating one the surface of the cone. Now the plane mirror is set in rapid rotation. and the from.
Mirrors reflected light rays captured on a cylinder surface, the axis of which is the axis of rotation of mirror b., So it gives the stationary eye the impression that an annular surface of the cylinder is evenly and continuously illuminated over the entire circumference by the rays reflected by mirror b would.
The embodiment shown in. Fig. 2 has a modification to the extent that in this case the light source with the hollow mirror a, is not arranged in the axis of rotation of the mirror b, but anywhere outside the same. An intermediate mirror b1 is used, which throws the light rays arriving from the concave mirror onto the rotating mirror b, which, again as in the first embodiment, is connected to the motor d by means of bracket c and is set in rotation. The inter mediate mirror b is rotatable about an axis perpendicular to the axis of the concave mirror a and adjustable and slidable ver in the latter axis.
Through this shift, a change in the angle of incidence of the beam on the mirror b is achieved, which corresponds to a change in the angle of the reflective beams, whereby, similar Lich as by adjusting the mirror b, a shift of the illuminating ring is achieved.
The rotating mirror could also be left out and the concave mirror could rotate around the light source or with the latter. The concave mirror can be designed in a spherical or paraboloid shape. The rotating mirror can be made of any material and have a flat, curved or corrugated shape.
Instead of illuminating the entire ring surface of <B> 360 '</B>, parts of the same can be darkened by attaching a suitable screen around the rotating mirror and any sector thereof can be illuminated. will.
