The invention also relates to a mold for manufacturing said slab (1), as well as a method of manufacturing the slab (1), a slab laying method, and a slab distribution method (1).
Description
Description: [0001] The invention relates to a slab used to cover a floor surface. It also relates to its manufacturing process and the associated mold, its distribution and its installation.
The aesthetics of natural stone paving is very attractive and highly sought after. One of the important characteristics of this aesthetic effect is that the different stones used all have a different format. The disadvantage of these tiles is of course their cost. Thus, many slab manufacturers make more economical concrete slabs by molding, often trying to imitate natural stone as much as possible.
A first commonly used slab manufacturing method makes it possible to obtain slabs called "pressed slabs". In this process, the concrete is poured into a mold and then pressed, resulting in its mechanical hardening sufficient to allow demolding and immediate handling of the slab. In this process, a mold is used only a few seconds for each slab. The advantage is to allow to make a multitude of slabs in a day with the 6 to 8 molds that equip a machine. However, these molds are expensive and difficult to change on the machine. This method is therefore poorly suited to the production of slabs of different sizes, which represents a limit for reproducing the diversity of natural stone formats. Slab manufacturers use this process to make a standard slab size, typically 40 x 40 cm, 50 x 50 cm or 60 x 40 cm. To mask this uniformity, they sometimes produce slabs presenting superficial geometrical figures, whose function is uniquely aesthetic.
A second manufacturing method of the prior art is to mold the slabs and then wait 24 hours drying before demolding. The advantage of this process comes from the fact that it makes it possible to obtain slabs of different sizes since it suffices to choose molds of different sizes. Its disadvantage comes from the fact that a mold serves only once a day, which means that you need as many molds as the number of slabs to manufacture per day.
An alternative to obtain slabs of different sizes is to saw in the factory slabs of 50 x 50 cm obtained for example by the process of pressed slabs, to deliver them cut to the customer. However, this method requires a lot of manual work on the slabs and is long and expensive.
On the other hand, the distribution of slabs of different formats obtained according to the above methods is complex and represents a second disadvantage. In particular, their implementation on a pallet, called "palletizing", requires predefining a number of slabs of each dimension per pallet to optimize the available space on a pallet and to offer a suitable assortment for installation.
A general object of the invention is to provide slabs do not have the disadvantages of the prior art. More specifically: [0007] A first object of the invention is to provide slabs for the realization of a pavement composed of slabs of different sizes, in order to imitate the aesthetics of a pavement made of natural stones.
A second object of the invention is to provide slabs whose manufacturing process allows high productivity at low cost.
A third object of the invention is to provide slabs whose distribution, including palletizing, is simple.
The concept of the invention is to manufacture single format pressed slabs according to the most advantageous manufacturing method of the prior art, and containing a means for their easy splitting to obtain slabs of different formats for a pose imitating natural stone paving.
For this, the invention is based on a slab to cover a floor surface which comprises at least two parts separated by a groove which defines a break line for the splitting of the slab along this break line in order to separate the at least two parts.
The groove may have a V shape and have a depth of between 6 and 10 mm for a thickness of about 40 mm of the slab.
The slab is thus adapted to a simple splitting.
The slab may comprise a square or rectangle overall format whose sides have a length of between 40 and 100 cm approximately and comprise between 2 and 4 separable parts.
[0015] Elle peut comporter trois parties fractionnables. It may comprise three parts that can be divided.
It may have a total square dimension of length about 50 cm, comprising parts whose sides have dimensions of between 20 and 50 cm. More precisely, it may have a total square dimension of length approximately 50 cm, and comprise a first portion of approximately 50 x 30 cm format, a second portion of approximately 30 x 20 cm format and a third portion of approximately 20 x 20 cm format . Alternatively, it has a total square dimension of approximately 50 cm in length, and comprises a first portion of approximately 50 x 20 cm format, a second portion of approximately 30 x 30 cm format and a third portion of approximately 30 x 20 cm format.
The invention also relates to the mold for manufacturing a slab according to the invention, which comprises a plurality of parts separated by a wall adapted to form slab fractions separated by grooves.
The invention also relates to a method of manufacturing a slab comprising a step of molding, pressing and demolding, and using the mold according to the invention.
The invention also relates to a slab laying method which comprises the step of simple splitting of a slab. In this laying process, the splitting can be done simply by striking the slab on the protruding edge of a hard surface or by striking the slab with a mallet or using a wide chisel on which one taps with a mallet. A seal comprising polymeric sand may be disposed between the slab portions.
These objects, features and advantages, as well as others of the present invention will be set forth in detail in the following description of a particular embodiment made in a non-limiting manner in relation to the appended figures among which:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a splittable tile according to one embodiment; fig. 2 shows a sectional view along the axis ll-ll of the splittable slab according to one embodiment; figs. 3a and 3b show methods of splitting a splittable tile according to one embodiment; fig. 4 represents a possible assortment of slabs according to an embodiment; fig. 5 shows an example of tiling obtained with slabs according to an embodiment.
The solution is based on a splittable slab 1, an embodiment of which is shown in FIG. 1. Its overall dimension is 50 x 50 cm, and it consists of a first part 2 of dimension 50 x 30 cm, a second part 3 of dimension 30 x 20 cm and a third part 4 of dimension 20 x 20 cm.
Such slab is manufactured according to the method of manufacturing pressed slabs of the prior art, but with the aid of a particular mold for the formation of several raised parts 2, 3, 4 separated by grooves relatively 5 deep and V-shaped on a thickness 6 of the slab surface. In this embodiment, the slab has a thickness of 40 mm and grooves 5 with a depth of about 7 mm. These grooves have the function of allowing to easily split the slab to separate the different parts 2, 3, 4.
The divisible slab 1 is shown in section in FIG. 2. The two parts 2 and 3 of the slab are separated by a groove 5 which predefines a break line 7 within the thickness of the slab. The depth of the groove is intended to allow a relatively easy break, which will be specified later, while avoiding too much embrittlement which would cause accidental breakage, during manufacture or transport, for example. For this, choose a groove between 6 and 10 mm for a slab of about 40 mm thick. On the other hand, the V-shaped groove makes it possible to predefine the break line 7 and to obtain a relatively sharp break.
According to the illustration of FIG. 3a, the slab can be split by striking it in a dry manner, but without significant effort against the protruding edge of a hard material, for example a pack of slabs, at its break line. According to FIG. 3b, some blows of hammer 8 on the face opposite to the groove also allows to obtain the breakage of the slab according to the line 7. It is also possible to use a wide chisel on which you tap with a hammer. These very simple methods of fractionation are particularly adapted to their use on a construction site at the time of laying the slabs. They do not require complex tools or significant effort, contrary to what could represent the use of a sawing method.
Leur distribution est donc équivalente à celle des dalles de format unique.FIG. 4 shows an assortment of slabs divisible according to a possible distribution mode. This assortment comprises two types of partitionable slabs 1 and 11, associated with a solid 10 slab and conventional size 50 x 50 cm. The slab 1 corresponds to the slab described above and the slab 11 consists of the portion 12 of size 50 x 20 cm, the portion 13 of size 30 x 30 cm and the portion 14 of size 30 x 20 cm. All these slabs leave the manufacturing process in the same format of 50 x 50 cm, which allows easy and optimal palletizing. Their distribution is therefore equivalent to that of single format slabs.
Fig. 3 5 illustrates the laying of an assortment of slabs such as that proposed in FIG. 4, consisting of three slabs 10, three slabs 1 and three slabs 11, to form a square of about 1.5 meters side. Advantageously, between these slabs there are wide joints 15, filled with polymer sand, a material that has the property of hardening with water while remaining flexible and porous. These joints provide the advantage of well with the slight deformations of the pavement while maintaining their position in time, despite bad weather and other elements of wear. They also make it possible to hide well the lateral faces of the slabs which are not always clear following the breaks which they underwent. Alternatively, it is possible to use a mortar joint.
The previous embodiment has been described with slabs of overall size 50 x 50 cm but it could be applied to slabs of other formats. Sizes comprising sides between 40 and 100 cm such as for example 40 x 40 cm, 60 x 40 cm, 50 x 100 cm, 60 x 60 cm, are particularly suitable for the application of the invention because they allow to obtain slabs whose overall size represents a weight that allows them to be handled with a view in particular to their splitting, while at the same time offering possibilities of splitting reasonably sized parts.
