BESCHREIBUNG

DESCRIPTION
The invention relates to a rescue device with an automatically inflatable floating body, which is held folded up in a housing which contains a compressed gas bottle with a valve that can be actuated by pressing and a valve actuation mechanism that automatically triggers when water enters.
A rescue device of this type has been proposed in which the pressurized gas cylinder contains the freon which is used to a large extent as an inert propellant gas and which has a low boiling point. A disadvantage of using Freon as the liquid gas content of the compressed gas bottle turns out, however, that already at an ambient temperature of 67 ° C, icing occurs on the surface of the float and on the valve of the compressed gas bottle, which means that the valve is no longer functional As is well known, icing is based on the fact that every liquid absorbs heat during the transition from the liquid to the vapor state and removes it from the environment.
If, therefore, a rescue device of this type, which can be thrown much further and more precisely to a person to be rescued, is in the water than a normal lifebuoy and its valve actuation mechanism is triggered by the entry of water, so that the floating body automatically in the immediate vicinity of the the rescue person inflates, is thrown into very cold water with a temperature below 67 ° C, the rescue device can fail due to the described icing, with which the attempt to rescue then fails due to a technical defect. The object of the present invention was therefore to remedy this defect and to create a rescue device that works perfectly even in a low ambient temperature of 1 "C.
In order to achieve this, the rescue device of the type mentioned at the outset is characterized in that the compressed gas bottle contains a mixture consisting of at least two liquid gases with such a low boiling point. that the valve of the compressed gas cylinder does not become inoperable due to icing at an ambient temperature of 1 "C. With a liquid gas mixture, the boiling point can be brought to a lower value, which fulfills the aforementioned conditions. It has been found that a liquid gas mixture consists of 89% Freon 12 and 11% Propane is a favorable composition, in which the liquid gas mixture is non-flammable and non-toxic, which properties butane alone does not have.
However, in the case of a rescue device coming into direct contact with people, the contents of the compressed gas bottle must be non-toxic and non-flammable.
As a further significant improvement, the rescue device according to the invention has, instead of a lifebuoy, a U-shaped collar which is easier and safer to handle than a floating body, and furthermore an automatic safety release, by means of which, when the housing with the floating body contained therein is torn out of a housing holder, the valve actuation mechanism for the compressed gas bottle enters a standby state in which the device is ready for the valve actuation which can be triggered by the entry of water.
An embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is described below with reference to the drawings. Show it:
Figure 1 shows the rescue device in vertical section through the housing and the holder.
Figure 2 is a vertical section through the housing according to the line I-I in Fig. 1.

Fig. 7 the float according to Fig. 6 in plan view.
The rescue device has a housing 1, which consists of two housing parts 2 and 3, which are joined approximately in the central plane of the housing. A pressure gas bottle 4 is arranged in the housing part 2, from which a valve stub 5 of the valve of the compressed gas bottle, which can be actuated by pressing, protrudes at the top. On the valve stub 5, an angled Lei processing piece 6 is placed, which is supported with its upper, on the opposite sides with grooves part on a one-piece with the housing part 2 console 7, with guide rails 8 formed on the console in the grooves of the line piece 6 intervene.
The line piece 6 has a connecting piece 9, which is connected to the inflation connector 10 of the float 11, of which only the part immediately surrounding this inflation connector is shown in FIG. 1. The floating body is otherwise housed folded in the housing part 3. The inflation connector 10 has the plug 13 attached to a tab 12 for closing the opening. However, this plug is not used as long as the compressed gas bottle 4 remains connected.
The valve actuation mechanism comprises a biasing device 14 below the compressed gas cylinder 4, which is pushed up under the action of a spring 15 forming part of this biasing device. Details of this pretensioning device 14 are described below with reference to FIGS. 4 and 5.
Furthermore, the valve actuation mechanism comprises a holding body 16 which is supported on the upper side of the compressed gas cylinder 4 and which is shown in a larger scale in vertical section in FIG. In its circular base plate 17, this holding body 16 has channels 18 running as chords and two fingers 19 which extend upwards on opposite sides of the channels. On the middle of each finger, a short, horizontal projection 20 extends towards the center, which extends extends through the center hole of a circular disk 21.
These two disks 21 form the support elements which temporarily block the valve actuation when the valve actuation mechanism has already been brought into the ready state after the pretensioning device 14 has been unlocked beforehand, so that the force of the spring 14 is fully against the support elements 21 Effect come, which are supported on the one hand in the grooves 18 of the holding body 16 and on the other hand against the bracket 7 firmly connected to the housing part 2, as can be seen from FIGS. 1 and 2. The valve stub 5 of the compressed gas bottle 4 extends through a central bore 22 of the holding body 16.
The disc-shaped support elements 21 are made of a material that quickly loses its strength in water, such as cardboard, which is made with a slightly water-soluble adhesive. As a result, they quickly lose their supporting function after the rescue device hits the water, so that the spring 15 of the pretensioning device 14 can press the compressed gas bottle 4 in the direction against the line piece 6 and the valve in the compressed gas bottle is actuated to automatically inflate the floating body. The disk-shaped support elements 21 have the advantage that the material thickness of the disks can be reduced by cutting away a layer, which makes it possible to change the time delay of valve actuation in the ready state.
The device can also be adapted to different climatic conditions under which it should be ready for use, using thicker cardboard disks in a humid atmosphere and thinner cardboard disks in a dry atmosphere. The support elements 21 can also consist of another material that completely dissolves in the water. The support elements can also have a shape other than the disk-shaped configuration if the holding body for the support elements is designed differently.
The biasing device 14 shown in FIGS. 4 and 5 on a larger scale has a bush 25 with an upper support plate 26 against which the compressed gas bottle 4 is supported. The helical compression spring 15 arranged in the interior of the piston-like bushing 25 is supported at one end against the support plate 26 and at the other end at the bottom of a cylindrical bushing guide 27. This bushing guide 27 has an upper flange edge 28 and slots 29 immediately below on opposite sides.
The piston-like bushing 25 surrounding the spring 15 has a flange 30 projecting outwards at the lower end.
Between this flange 30 and the flange edge 28 of the bushing guide 27, the fork-shaped locking element 31, which can be seen in plan view in FIG. 5, is held with its two fork legs 32 under the action of the compression spring 15. The socket guide 27 has a foot 33 at the bottom with grooves 34 formed on opposite sides, which serve to detachably fasten the pretensioning device 14 to a bracket 35 which is connected in one piece to the housing part 2 and which has strips engaging in the grooves.
The fork-shaped locking element 31 is a flat piece of material which is fastened to a holder 40 with its rear end according to FIG. 5. This holder 40 is U-shaped and consists of two legs 41 and a web part 42 connecting the legs, which is integral with the
Thighs is connected. The holder 40 preferably consists of a plastic material and additionally has two reinforcing ribs 43 extending along the web part 42 between the legs 41, as can be seen from FIG. 5, in which figure one leg 41 of the holder 40 is shown broken off.
The two legs 41 of the holder 40 encompass the two
Housing parts 2 and 3 at the upper and lower ends and have at their somewhat angled ends inwardly projecting cams 44 which engage in corresponding recesses on the outside of the housing part 3. The housing 1 and the parts contained therein are thus in three places in the
Holder 40 fixed, namely by the locking element 31, which extends outward through a slot 45 in the housing part 2 and is firmly connected to the holder, and by the two cams 44 at the end of the legs 41. The holder also has in its web part 42 openings 46 for receiving fastening screws in order to fasten the holder to a wall or to another body.
Self-adhesive strips can also be provided on the rear side of the holder for fastening. Furthermore, the holder 40 has two parallel slots 47 in the web part 42, through which a belt can be pulled in order to carry the rescue device on the body (FIG. 2).
If the rescue device is to be used if necessary, the housing 1 only has to be torn out of the holder 40, the locking element 31 then being clamped under the pressure of the spring 15 between the flange 30 of the bush 25 and the flange edge 28 of the bushing. guide 27 is released and thus the standby state is reached, in which the spring force comes fully to bear on the disk-shaped support elements 21, which lose their firmness after the impact of the rescue device in the water and buckle, so that the valve neck due to the advancing movement of the compressed gas cylinder 4 5 is pressed inward so that the floating body 11 is inflated automatically, the housing parts 2 and 3 separating from one another.
To protect the floating body in the folded state within the housing, a cover 50 is arranged in the plane between the housing parts 2 and 3, which encloses the compressed gas bottle 4 and the entire valve actuation mechanism in the form of a half cylinder. The cover 50 has at the upper and lower ends a tab 51 with a shoulder 52 at the end, which can snap into a corresponding hole in the housing part 2 in order to fasten the cover.
The housing part 2 has an opening 55 in the region of the support elements 21, through which the water reaches the support elements.
The housing part 3 is connected to the floating body 11 by means of a band 56. This band is located inside the housing as long as the floating body 11 is held folded in the housing. When the floating body 11 is inflated, the housing part 3 connected to the floating body 11 by the band 56 acts as a drive anchor in order to prevent the floating body from being driven away by wind from the target area in the area of the person to be rescued.
So that the housing part 3 sinks quickly in the water to act as a floating anchor, it has holes 57 arranged distributed over the surface. The band 56 also prevents the housing part 3 from being lost in the water. The band 56 can expediently consist of the material of the floating body and can be part of the material edge running around the center of symmetry outside the weld seam 58, from which material edge the band 56 is torn off along a pre-cut line during the manufacture of the floating body. The housing part 2 is fastened to the floating body 11 by means of a band 59, which can be passed inside the housing behind the cover 50 and is fastened with the ends in the area of the weld seam 58.
7 is designed as a U-shaped collar with a slot 62 extending between the U-legs 60 and 61 to the center and a round neck opening 63 adjoining the slot. The U-shaped collar, which is open between the thighs, is easier to put on than a conventional lifebuoy, which would have to be pulled down over the head and shoulders if the person to be rescued is to be held reasonably securely with the arms hanging outside over the ring there is still a risk of tipping because the center of gravity is relatively high with such an arrangement of the lifebuoy. An unconscious person would drown when tilted. Apart from that, it is hardly possible to accommodate such a large lifebuoy in the housing, which would allow the shoulders to be squeezed through.
In contrast, with the U-shaped collar to be placed around the neck, only the head is kept afloat, so that there is no risk of tipping when the body's center of gravity is low and that an unconscious person is not at risk. In order to hold the legs of the U-shaped collar tightly around the neck, two securing straps 64 and 65 are fastened to the opposite outer edges of the floating body on the connecting line in front of the neck opening 63 and are connected to one another by a push button 66 or another suitable connecting means.
Furthermore, in the outside of the circumferential weld 58 protruding outward material hand of the float at the ends of the legs 60 and 61 handles 67 and 68 and a handle 69 are formed on the opposite edge, which for easier
Intervention of the float serve and other people can still offer a way to hold on.
The compressed gas bottle 4 contains a liquid gas with a very low boiling point. Since compressed gas cylinders with the normally used liquid gas content have the disadvantage that at low temperatures in the air or water at the valve ice forms, which means that the rescue device can no longer function properly, a liquid gas with a low boiling point must be used should also be non-flammable and non-toxic. To meet these conditions, the compressed gas cylinder 4 contains a mixture of 89% freon 12 and 11% propane. When using this gas mixture, hardly icing occurs at the valve even at a water temperature of 1 "C.
