4. card clothing according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that it has at least one sawtooth wire.
5. card clothing according to claim 4, characterized in that the sawtooth wire is provided at least in the region of the teeth with a surface layer applied to the alloy.
The invention relates to a card clothing made of alloy steel. Card clothing of this type is known, for example, from DE-OS 2 222 918. They serve in particular as fittings for drums in carding and carding machines.
In particular, alloys with a vanadium and tungsten content were also proposed. Compared to previously used steels with a more or less large carbon content, these resulted in a noticeable improvement in the service life and carding results, which, however, had to be bought with a considerable increase in the cost of the material and a deterioration in the machinability.
The textile fibers to be processed in recent times now have properties which make it necessary to further improve and adapt the card clothing material, while at the same time striving to reduce costs. In the case of cotton fibers, it is in particular the proportion of sand and micro dust that is increased by mechanical picking that mechanically stresses the clothing due to its abrasive effect. In the case of synthetic fibers, especially polyester fibers, treatment with finishing agents, e.g. TiO2, which is carried out with regard to processing in the spinning mills, increases the mechanical stress on the clothing. The friction coefficient reduced by the treatment, on the other hand, calls for the finest possible sets.
Surprisingly, it has been shown that these adverse effects can be reduced by selecting the alloy for the card clothing according to claim 1.
In a preferred embodiment, the individual parts are selected in accordance with claim 2.
Compared to the stated prior art, the tungsten content has essentially been replaced by chromium. It has been shown that the chrome-vanadium combination in particular has a favorable effect on the abrasion properties of soft against hard (textile fibers against clothing) and that less effort is involved in the production of the clothing by cold rolling.
The material costs are also lower.
It should be noted that in connection with card clothing a price-performance optimum should be aimed for that is not at maximum wear resistance. Rather, the material should be chosen so that the increase in grinding intervals and the service life (which is approximately 3 years) is not offset by the increased material and manufacturing costs, which is achieved by the present alloy.
The alloy contains a carbon content of 0.3 2.0% by weight, a silicon content of 0.1-2.5% by weight, a manganese content of 0.1-2.0% by weight and a vanadium content of 0.1-2.0% by weight and a chromium content of 0.1-2.0% by weight.
In a preferred embodiment, the proportions for carbon are 0.6-0.8% by weight, for silicon 0.15-0.35% by weight, for manganese 0.6-0.8% by weight, for Vanadium 0.12-0.3% by weight and for chromium 0.4-0.6% by weight.
The contamination by phosphorus, sulfur, nickel and copper must be kept to a minimum, i.e. the upper limit should be 0.1% by weight.
The card clothing preferably consists of saw tooth wire, which is arranged on a card drum of a carding machine. This is formed from the aforementioned alloy by cold working.
To increase the surface hardness, especially in the area of the teeth, the alloy described is also suitable as a carrier for a coating by means of plasma, in particular carbide, as well as electroplating and diamond coating processes (DuPont) known per se.
It is important here that the carrier material also has good stability, since the layer can be removed in some areas during regrinding. The surface coating using extremely hard material further extends the intervals between the necessary regrinding processes.
The alloy found for card clothing, which is also suitable in the manner described as a carrier for surface coating, has optimum hardness with great toughness in view of the properties of the textile material to be processed, which are emerging in recent times. In particular, the fiber adhesion and fiber guidance on the card clothing remains longer despite the reduction in the coefficient of friction of the fibers due to finishing treatment and at the same time increased mechanical stress, which is a prerequisite for good carding results (i.e.
small nissen values in the carding tiling and high degree of parallelization). The alloy found is also well suited for the cold rolling processing required to produce card clothing and is less expensive than the vanadium / tungsten alloys used for this purpose.
