MetallgaM <and fabric made from it.
The subject of the present invention is a metal yarn and a fabric made from it.
In the drawings Fig. 1 shows a mass of metal fibers from which the metal yarn used to make the fabric is spun; Fig. 2 shows a piece of metal yarn made from several strands spun from metal fibers; 3 shows a cross section through a fabric woven from metal yarn; Figure 4 is a plan view of this fabric; 5 shows a cross section through another embodiment of a fabric made of metal yarn.
It has been found that fibrous fine metal chips, e.g. B. be separated as waste when machining metal and have rough surfaces, in contrast to smooth wires can be spun into yarn. Such shavings, which can be designated as metal fibers, are as
EMI1.1
referred to as steel wool. The fibers of such a so-called wool usually have a more or less irregular cross-section and their surfaces are rough. This makes it possible to spin the fibers into yarn.
Fig. 1 shows metal wool which is the raw material for spinning the metal yarn. FIG. 2 shows a piece of yarn A twisted together from the three strands B. Each of these three strands again consists of three threads C made of metal yarn. Fig. 3 is a cross-section through part of a fabric which is woven from the yarns or threads D, E. It goes without saying that the fabric consists of individual strands of metal thread or of several strands twisted together
EMI1.2
woven fabric consisting of the yarns or threads D, E.
Fig. 5 shows the cross section through a fabric which consists of the threads F, G assembled.
EMI1.3
in order to make them soft and supple, they are dressed in a cahogue and then spun into yarn, in the same way that wool fibers are processed. The metal yarn is processed into a fabric that is hardened after its completion and then tempered.
The metal yarn produced in this way or the fabric produced from the latter can be used with

change.
