REVENDICATIONS

CLAIMS
1. Sewing machine, the frame of which is provided with a handle facilitating the transport of the machine, this handle being constituted by a rigid part articulated on the frame along a horizontal axis, making it possible to pivot this handle to bring it from the substantially retracted position for machine work in a deployed position for transporting the machine, characterized in that this handle is provided with at least one spool rod, oriented so as to occupy substantially horizontal or vertical positions depending on the position of the handle.
2. Machine according to claim 1, characterized in that the spool-holder rod is slidably mounted in its axial direction so that it can be retracted in the handle.
3. Machine according to claim 2, characterized in that the handle is in the general shape of a stirrup having two arcuate lateral arms, joined at one of their ends by a substantially rectilinear part and carrying near their other end an articulation part to pivot around said horizontal axis, this axis being housed inside the upper arm of the machine, openings being provided in this arm for the passage of said arched arms.
4. Machine according to claim 3, characterized in that the handle carries a spool holder disposed opposite each of the two arms and retractable inside its respective arm.
5. Machine according to claim 4, characterized in that the upper face of the upper arm has an external recess serving as a housing for the straight part of the handle when the latter is not used for transport.
Sewing machines are already known, the frame of which is provided with a handle facilitating the transport of the machine, this handle being constituted by a rigid part articulated on the frame along a horizontal axis, making it possible to pivot this handle to bring it from the substantially retracted position for machine work to a deployed position for transporting the machine.
Depending on the work to be done using a sewing machine, it may be advantageous for the spool pins to be substantially oriented either vertically or horizontally.
The subject of the invention is an advantageous construction making it possible to modify the inclination of at least one spool-carrying rod. To this end, the machine which is the subject of the invention is characterized in that the handle is provided with at least one spool-holder rod, oriented so as to occupy substantially horizontal or vertical positions depending on the position of the handle. .
The accompanying drawing shows schematically and by way of example, an embodiment of the sewing machine which is the subject of the invention.
Figure 1 is an end view, partially broken away, showing the machine with its handle in the deployed position.
Figure 2 is an identical view but in which the handle is in the retracted position.
Figure 3 is a perspective view of the part constituting the handle.
Figure 4 illustrates the attachment of a spool pin.
Referring to Figures I and 2, the machine comprises a base 1 and two shells 2 and 3, which are assembled by means not shown, to form the frame of the machine. These parts are generally made of injected cast iron.
The shell 2 constitutes a part of the upper arm 4 of the machine and has, inside this arm, interior bosses 5 carrying a horizontal rod 6 serving as a pivot for a handle 7.
The latter is in the general shape of a stirrup, as shown in FIG. 3. It is constituted by two lateral arms 8 and 9 which are arcuate, joined at one of their ends by a substantially straight part 10. These arms carry at their other end bores 11 and 12 forming an articulation part which can pivot around the horizontal rod 6.
The upper arm 4 has openings 13 to allow the passage of the arcuate arms 8 and 9 as well as a recess 14 constituting a housing for the straight part 10 of the handle when the latter is not used for transporting the machine.
The deployed position of the handle is defined as a stop for a part 15 of the arcuate arms 8 and 9, reinforced with the shell 2.
The handle 7 is also provided with two reel-carrying rods 17, only one of which is visible in the drawing. Each of these rods is located opposite one of the arms 8 and respectively 9 and is mounted so as to be able to slide in a bore 18 formed in each of these arms, as shown in FIG. 4. The upper end of this bore 18 has a portion 19 of larger diameter which is closed by a part 20 retaining a spring 21. The latter cooperates with two grooves 22 and 23 respectively to form two notches retaining the rod 17 in the deployed position, as illustrated in the drawing or in position scalloped in the bore 18. It should be noted that in the retracted position, the upper end of the rod 17 protrudes slightly from the handle, this end carrying a groove 24 facilitating the gripping of this rod to extract it of his accommodation.
The arrangement of the reel-carrying rods at the two ends of the rectilinear part 10 of the handle is advantageous, because it allows the machine to be transported by its handle without the need to remove the coils which can remain in position on the rods 17.
