6. Use of the device according to claim 1 for supplying raw tubes to a machine for working the tubes.
The present invention relates to an automatic device for handling profiles such as tubes, in particular for the successive introduction of tubes into a machine for contracting or enlarging the tubes.
Devices of the kind described are not commercially available. The successive insertion of tubes and other profiles into the machine that works them must currently be done by hand, and the person responsible for this work runs the risk of accidents that can be imagined.
The machines which work the tubes are for example those to reduce the tubes, to contract or widen them, the cutting devices, etc. Similar machines work other profiles such as round, square, rectangular and oval bars.
In machines for reducing tubes, for example hammering machines, the operator must hold in his hand the tube which during its treatment is subjected to strong vibrations. In addition, he must push the tube forward with great force. These machines are also very noisy, and the fact that the operator is very close to the machine greatly affects his hearing, which is accompanied by well known risks. On the contracting machines and on those to widen the tubes, the operator working manually can, when he puts the tube under the clamp of this machine, get his hands crushed when this clamp closes. In addition, the introduction of this tube by hand into this machine is always slower and less precise than the introduction into an automatic cycle machine.
The present invention aims to provide a completely automatic feeding device, essentially eliminating the drawbacks described above.
This object is accomplished by the automatic device according to the invention which is defined in claim 1.
A practical embodiment of the device which is the subject of the invention is shown, by way of example, in the drawing and will be described in detail below.
In the drawing:
fig. 1 is a schematic side view of the rear part of a tube working machine, showing the device according to the invention, and
fig. 2 is a schematic top view of the pusher-tube bridge with the tube blocking system.
The device consists of three main parts:
- a tank of tubes, which can be formed by a series of grids and which has a variable capacity,
- a mechanism for transporting and introducing the profiles into the machine, and
- a push-piece bridge, blocking the profiled part with a clamp and which, by means of a horizontal movement, brings it to the machine to work the profile.
The device will now be described with reference to tubes as profiles to be handled.
In fig. 1, we first see in schematic representation a grid 1 serving as a tank or tank. The belts 4, anchored to this grid 1 and to a transport or lifting device 2, support all the tubes.
A device, not shown, with a multiplier, rotates the pulleys 3 which wind the belts 4. By this movement, the tubes are brought up to the height of the device 2 where they are placed thereon.
Another gearmotor not shown rotates the Catalan chain 5, so that the tube pressed against this chain is transported until it is placed on tooth 6 located at the bottom of a slightly inclined plane.
At this point, the automatic charging cycle stops. In the meantime, a series of blades 7, of which only one is shown (there are at least two), is already on the axis of the push bridge and is ready to receive the tube located on tooth 6. This blade 7 is controlled in sequence with the working cycle of the pneumatic or hydraulic cylinder 9. At this point, the blade 11 rises, controlled by the cylinder 10, and slides the tube on the blade 7 which is in the horizontal position. Once the tube is on the blade 7, the locking clamp 12 (fig. 2) closes again, blocking the tube; meanwhile the blade 7 is lowered so as not to interfere with the horizontal movement of the push carriage 17.
Fig. 2 shows the entire movement of the clamp 12 on the tube pushing carriage, the movement of which is obtained by means of the cylinder which sets a series of connecting rods 14, 15, 16 in motion. The bridge 8, which is anchored on two cylindrical bars, carries the cylinder 18, the rod of which is fixed on the pushing carriage 17 so that, with the clamp 12 closed, the cylinder 18 is controlled and pushes the carriage 17 forward, and, therefore, the tube up to the working tool of the machines to reduce the tubes or of the machines to contract the enlargement of the tubes
It should be noted that the speed of advance during the working phase can be adjusted by the hydraulic brake 19. At the end of the deformation or reduction work, the bridge 17 carrying the clamp 12 with the blocked tube turns back, always by the effect of the cylinder 18. Once the carriage 17 has pressed against the fixed bridge 8, the clamp 12 opens automatically and drops the tube, which will strike on the slide arm 20 which deflects the trajectory of the tube, so that it avoids contact with the blade 7 and may fall on a suitable container, if any, not shown.
At this point, the cycle is repeated again until the exhaustion of the stock of tubes in front of the limiting tooth 6 or in the reservoir.
Another very characteristic is worth mentioning.
important (see fig. 1).
During the phase of transferring the tubes from the basket to the loading tooth 6 via the transport device 2, the tubes could overlap each other, blocking the introduction of a tube into the clamp, which would be inadmissible.
An adjustable device 23 with a limit switch 22 located above the transport device 2 is controlled when superimposed tubes pass below the device; if only one tube passes at a time, the limit switch 22, with its control lever, is not energized. If, on the other hand, two or more superimposed tubes want to pass together, the switch 22 activates an inversion device not shown, which results in the movement of the transport mechanism being automatically reversed using the gear motors controlling belts and chains; the chains on the transport device 2 rotate in the opposite direction, transferring the superimposed tubes on the tank which, by the effect of the reversal of the movement of its reducer, becomes larger, because the belts 4 are lowered .
During this operation, the tubes in the basket are set in motion as a result of the movement of the belts and thus detach from the stack. The new cycle then resumes with the lifting of the tubes and the loading by the means of the transport device 2 with the normal cycle of the machine.
The device described has the following advantages. A considerable saving is obtained, since almost all of the personnel involved in handling the profiles can be used for other tasks; the only work left is to fill the tank and remove the work piled up under the machine. In the case of a hammering machine, a very large part of the noise associated with manual feeding of the machine is avoided. We obtain a better performance of the machines to work the profiles, because the feeding is done more regularly and faster. The risks and dangers associated with the human factor are avoided.
