Abstract

Novel benzylamines of the formula I <IMAGE> in which the symbols R1 to R5 have the meaning given in Patent Claim 1 and their physiologically tolerable acid addition salts with inorganic or organic acids are prepared. The compounds of the formula I have useful pharmacological properties, in particular an anti-ulcer action, a secretolytic, cough-relieving and augmentative effect on the production of the surfactant or anti-atelectasis factor of the alveoli. The compounds of the formula I are prepared by introduction of the group <IMAGE> into appropriate reactive benzyl compounds.
