Exemple I
The present invention relates to the use of novel oxygenated derivatives of cyclohexene of formula
EMI1.1
in which the epoxidized side chain is linked to a carbon atom of the cyclohexene ring in position 1- or 2-,
The index n denotes 0 or 1, and Rl represents an alkyl radical or a hydrogen atom, as perfuming and / or flavoring agents for the preparation of perfumes and perfumed products and Zou for the flavoring of food for humans and for animals, drinks and tobacco.
It has been observed that the compounds of the invention have very interesting organoleptic properties and can, therefore, be advantageously used in the aroma industry and in perfumery.
The cyclohexene derivatives of formula I can be used as odoriferous agents in diluted or concentrated perfumes, and in products such as soaps, detergents, cosmetics and cleaning products, in fact in a large number of manufactured products which they thus make. dirtier more attractive. The stability of compounds of formula
I makes their application particularly interesting in the aforementioned fields. The compounds of the invention can also be used for the preparation of essential oils, such as, for example, the essence of lavender, lily of the valley or other essential floral oils.
As mentioned above, the compounds of formula I also possess very interesting flavoring properties and, therefore, can be used as flavor or aroma modifiers, as ingredients for the preparation of artificial flavors for foods, beverages, foods. for animals, pharmaceutical compositions and tobacco. The term food is used here in its broadest sense, the compounds of the invention possibly being, for example, incorporated into products such as coffee, tea or cocoa.
Depending on the nature of the products to which they are added, the compounds of the invention can develop or intensify aromatic notes such as fatty, green, fruity or floral notes. They can be used in particular in the preparation of perfume compositions having an exotic fruit character such as banana, mango, etc., and to intensify or modify the aroma of tea or of other infusions or decoctions such as lime for example. They thus give the aforementioned drinks a pleasant floral note.
The proportions in which the new compounds can be used vary within wide limits. For the preparation of perfuming compositions, for example, interesting effects can be obtained with proportions ranging from 0.1 to 1% of the total mass of the composition. However, depending on the desired effect, we can go up to 10 or 20%, or even more. Likewise, the proportions used for flavoring can vary widely. Interesting flavoring effects can be obtained with amounts of the order of 20 to 30 ppm, a proportion based on the weight of the flavored material. A more marked effect is however obtained with proportions of the order of 100 ppm, or even more.
When the products of the invention are used in flavoring compositions, mixed with other flavoring products, the proportions may vary between 100 ppm and 0.1% of the total weight of the composition, a more particular effect being obtainable, in certain cases. cases, with even larger quantities. In all cases, the limits set may vary depending on the desired odoriferous or flavoring effect.
The new oxygenated derivatives of cyclohexene of formula I can be prepared by a process characterized in that an epoxide of myrcene of formula is condensed.
EMI1.2
with a carbonyl compound of the formula
H2C = CHCO (O) flR1 III in which n and R 'have the same meaning as indicated above, in accordance with the process indicated in the Swiss Patent
No. 537,453 [Patent application No. 3296/72, split from patent application No. 18,233/70].
Compounds of formula I can also be prepared by epoxidation of the non-cyclic double bond of compounds of formula
EMI1.3
in which n and R 'have the same meaning as mentioned above and where the unsaturated side chain is linked to a carbon atom of the cyclohexene ring in position 1- or 2-, in accordance with the process indicated in Swiss Patent
No. 537,453 [Patent application No. 3297/72, split from patent application No. 18,233/70].
According to the processes mentioned, the compounds of formula I are obtained in the form of a mixture of positional isomers having the structures
EMI2.1
In addition, given the presence of the epoxy ring, the aforementioned positional isomers can exist as two structural stereoisomers
EMI2.2
The separation of the various isomers can be carried out by means of elution chromatography, by distillation on a rotating band column or by separation of the corresponding semi-carbazons. In perfumery, for practical and economic reasons, it is possible to use the mixture of products as directly resulting from one of the mentioned processes, the aforementioned isomers having similar olfactory properties.
The invention is illustrated in more detail in the following examples.

When 100 g of 1- (4-methyl-3, 4-epoxypentyl) -4-formyl-1 -cyclohexene are added to 900 g of the above mixture, a composition of greater potency is obtained, exhibiting a floral character. and a fresh note.
When instead of 1- (4-methyl-3,4-epoxypentyl) -4formyl-1-cyclohexene, 1- (4-methyl-3,4-epoxypentyl) -4-acetyl-1 is used -cyclohexene or 1- (4-methyl-3,4-epoxy pentyl) -4-methoxy-carbonyl-1 -cyclohexene, or a mixture
1- (4-methyl-3,4-epoxypentyl) -4-formyl-1- 7: 3 or 6: 4
cyclohexene and 1 - (4-methyl-3, 4-epoxypentyl) -5 -formyl- 1 -
cyclohexene, similar results are obtained. However, by using said compounds the effect obtained is less marked.
Example 2
Black tea flavoring Example 2
Commercial black tea infusion was prepared using 6-8 g of tea leaves per liter of boiling water. After a few minutes the infusion was poured into cups at a rate of 30 ml per cup and to some of them 0.06 ml of a 1% solution of 1- (4-methyl-3 , 4-epoxypentyl) 4-formyl-1-cyclohexene in 90% ethanol.
The samples thus obtained were tasted by a group of experienced persons who declared that the drink containing the additive had a pleasant and more flowery note than the reference drink.
