EMI1.2
possédant une simple, double ou triple liaison sur la chaîne latérale comme indiqué par les pointillés, dans laquelle l'indice m vaut 0, 1 ou 2 et dans laquelle le symbole R2 représente un atome d'hydrogène ou un reste acyle;
ou de formule
EMI1.3

The invention relates to a new class of perfuming and / or flavoring ingredients. More specifically, it relates to the use, as perfuming and / or flavoring ingredients, of oxygenated heterocyclic compounds of formula
EMI1.1
having a single or double bond on the side chain in any of the positions indicated by the dotted lines, in which Index n is 1 or 2 and in which the symbol R represents a group CH3, CH2OH, CH2O-acyl, CH2-CH = (CH3 ) 2,
CHO or CH2 =; or formula
EMI1.2
having a single, double or triple bond on the side chain as indicated by the dotted lines, in which the index m is 0, 1 or 2 and in which the symbol R2 represents a hydrogen atom or an acyl residue;
or formula
EMI1.3
having a double bond in one of the positions of the six-membered ring defined by the dotted lines and in which the symbol R3 represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; or formula
EMI1.4
The above compounds can be considered as derivatives of 5,6-dihydro-2-H-pyran (or to simplify 5,6-dihydropyran). These are all new compounds, with one exception, however: 4-methyl-2- (2-methylbut-2-en-1-yl) - 5.6-dihvdroDvranne. formula
EMI1.5
is in fact described in the published Japanese patent application N "85070/74, but nothing in the state of the art suggests that the above compound could be used as a perfuming agent, for example.
A fortiori is it the same with regard to the new heterocyclic compounds described by means of the formulas
EMI1.6
in which the index n and the dotted lines are defined as indicated above for formula I, and in which the symbol R 'represents a group CH20H, CH2O - acyl, CH2 - CH = (CH3) 2,
CHO or CH2 =, or II, III and IV mentioned above.
It was found, very surprisingly, that the oxygenated heterocyclic compounds mentioned above possessed particularly interesting organoleptic properties and that they were therefore of great utility for the perfume and aroma industry.
In the field of perfumes for example, said compounds can be characterized by their flowery note, a little green, sometimes slightly pink and in certain cases reminiscent of that of neroli or bergamot. The characteristic odor of said compounds makes them particularly useful during the preparation of bases for perfumes of the floral, rose, jasmine or lily-of-the-valley type, for example. Said compounds are also appreciated for the reconstitution of synthetic floral oils such as those mentioned above, or during the preparation of perfumed products such as soaps, detergents, cleaning products or cosmetic products for example, products in which they enhance. very well the flowery note, always appreciated in modern perfumery.
When the aforementioned heterocyclic compounds are used as ingredients for the preparation of perfume compositions for example, they can be used in proportions varying in a relatively wide manner, ranging for example from 0.5 to 5, 10 or even 20 or 30%. approximately, relative to the total weight of said composition. It goes without saying that the abovementioned amounts above depend essentially on the nature of the co-ingredients of said composition and on the desired effect. Therefore, proportions greater or less than those given above can also be used.
In the field of aromas, the oxygenated heterocyclic compounds of formula I, II, III and IV are distinguished by their flowery, sweet, fruity and sometimes oily or wax-like note depending on the case. They are therefore particularly suitable for the preparation of artificial fruit flavors such as strawberries, cherries or raspberries for example. Said compounds are therefore very popular for flavoring food for humans or animals, various drinks, products such as syrups, jellies, jams, ice cream or yoghurt for example. Artificial flavors containing said compounds as active ingredients can also be used for raromatization of pharmaceutical preparations.
With its original note, both sweet and flowery and reminiscent of honey, 4-methyl-2- (1-isopropyl-4-oxopent-1-yl) - 5,6-dihydropyran (IV) is also very suitable for flavoring tobacco or for preparing tobacco products. It is also the same for the compounds of formulas I,
II and III.
When the oxygenated heterocyclic compounds mentioned above are used as ingredients for the preparation of flavoring compositions, they can be used in an amount of from 0.01 to 1.2, or even 5% approximately, relative to the weight of said composition. When flavoring various foods or drinks, said compounds can be used at a rate of approximately 0.1 to 100 ppm, relative to the weight of the food or drink in question, preferably at a rate of 1 to 10 ppm .
When flavoring tobacco, or tobacco-based products, the proportions preferably used are of the order of 20 to 50 ppm.
It remains understood that quantities greater or less than those given above can also be used, in particular when more specific effects are desired.
The detail of the preparation of the oxygenated heterocyclic compounds, the use of which constitutes the object of the present invention (temperatures in degrees centigrade) will be given below.

Besides its flowery note, the base above has a slightly fruity tone.
By adding 10 g of 4-methyl-2- (2-methyl-4-hydroxy but-1-yl> 5,6-dihydropyran to 90 g of the above base, the fruity side of said base is strongly reduced. whose floral note then becomes fresher and more rounded.
By replacing in the above composition 4-methyl- 2- (2-methyl-4-hydroxybut-1-yl) -5,6-dihydropyran by an identical amount of 4-methyl-2- (2-methylbut- 3-Ene-1-yl) -5,6-dihydropyran, a similar effect is observed.
By replacing, in the above composition, 4-methyl-2 (2-methyl 4-hydroxybut-1-yl) -5,6-dihydropyran by one of the compounds mentioned above, similar effects were noted , although less pronounced.

The following examples will illustrate the present invention in more detail.
Example 1:
A floral type perfume composition was prepared by mixing the following ingredients (parts by weight):
Compositions A and B above were then used for the preparation of the foods below, at the doses indicated:
Cooked sugar: 20 g of composition per 100 kg of food.
Ice cream: 10 g of composition for 100 kg of food.
Boiled sugar: a mixture of 100 ml of sugar syrup (prepared from 1 kg of sucrose and 600 ml of water) and 20 g of glucose was slowly heated to 145 ° C.. The flavor was then added to the mass and finally the mixture was allowed to harden.
Ice cream: an ice cream mix was prepared from 1 l of milk, 5 egg yolks and 250 g of sugar as follows: heat the milk, mix the sugar and the egg yolks and, while stirring, add hot milk. Stirring is continued until the mass becomes smooth, and Aroma is added.
The mixture is then refrigerated according to the usual methods.
The foods thus prepared were then subjected to the organoleptic evaluation of a group of experts who observed that foods flavored with composition B had a richer and more fruity taste and aroma than those of foods flavored with A.
By replacing, in the example above, 4-methyl 2- (2-methyl-2-hydroxybut-3-ene-1-yl) -5,6-dihydropyran by
Of the compounds mentioned above, similar effects were observed, although less pronounced.
Example 3:
3.5 g of a 10 / oo solution of 2-methyl-2- (1-isopropyl-4-oxopent-1-yl) -5,6-dihydropyran in 95% ethyl alcohol was sprayed on 100 g of American Blend type tobacco (test sample). The control sample was prepared by sprinkling an identical amount of 95% ethyl alcohol over 100 g of the same mixture of tobacco.
The test and control samples were then used for the manufacture of cigarettes, the smoke of which was finally subjected to organoleptic re-evaluation by a group of experts. They stated that the taste and aroma of the smoke from the test cigarettes was milder and more pleasant than that of the smoke from the control cigarettes, while still exhibiting a flowery, honey-like note.
