Abstract
Protective coating for placing as an intermediate layer between a corrugated metal cover and an outer polyethylene cover of a cable, consists of (I) 40-90% wt., pref. 65% wt. higher methacrylate ester, (IIe at least 0.5% wt., pref. 5% wt. additive for preventing cold flow, such as natural or synthetic waxes, polyalkenes, esp. polybutenes, and (III) 10-60% wt., pref. 30% wt. fillerS, as in NE. 67,09566. The improvement consists of the replacement of 15-35% wt. pref. 25% wt., of components (I) and/or (IIe by bitumen. The protective coating of NE. 67,09566 is difficult to remove from the surface of the corrugated metal cover. Addition of the bitumen to the protective coating gives a more protective coating, which can be easily removed with solvents such as benzine and trichloroethylene. The incorporation of the bitumen does not harm the physical and electrical properties of the protective material.
Description
25 Gew.-% Bitumen,
5 Gew.- /o natürliche oder synthetische Wachse,
30 Gew..CIo Füllstoffe.

Corrosion protection compound for cables
The present invention relates to a corrosion protection compound for cables with a metal jacket and an overlying plastic jacket, the corrosion protection compound being arranged between the metal jacket and the plastic jacket.
In Swiss Patent No. 517 354, a corrosion protection compound for cables is described that contains a higher methacrylic acid ester and / or a polybutene, and fillers.
This anti-corrosive compound has good resistance to cold temperatures, d. H. At about -50 "C it is still such that when the cable is laid in the ground no bridges can occur, and on the other hand it also shows at higher
Temperatures, approximately up to 70 ° C, still have such a viscosity that the metal jacket cannot shift within the plastic jacket. In addition, the anti-corrosion compound is such that it can be easily washed onto the metal jacket, which is technically manufacturing is cheap.
A polybutenes content can increase the dielectric strength of the corrosion protection compound, which is of great importance in many cases, in particular in lightning-prone routes.
It has now been shown that during the assembly of the cable provided with such an anti-corrosion compound, this compound can only be removed from the metal jacket with considerable expenditure of time, because the surface of the anti-corrosion compound does not absorb solvents such as trichlorethylene, perchlorethylene or gasoline and one is therefore forced to do so to remove the anti-corrosion compound mechanically, for example by means of a knife, scraper or the like.
This disadvantage is intended to be remedied by the invention. The corrosion protection compound according to the invention is characterized in that it consists of a mixture containing the following components:
Higher methacrylic acid esters and / or polybutenes, bitumen, fillers.
The bitumen gives the corrosion protection compound a more porous surface that is able to absorb the solvents. This ensures a simple, clean and time-saving removal of the corrosion protection compound from the metal jacket. The bitumen does not worsen the physical and electrical properties of the anti-corrosion compound.
The corrosion protection compound can consist, for example, of a mixture of the following components:
40% by weight / c of higher methacrylic acid ester,
25% by weight bitumen,
5 wt / o natural or synthetic waxes,
30 wt. CIO fillers.
