Reciprocating cable pulling device, which can be operated as desired manually or by motor
Traction devices are known which act on a cable by means of two clamps whose relative opposing movements are obtained by manual actuation, by the user, of a reciprocating control lever. Such devices have in particular the advantage of making it possible to pull unlimited lengths of metallic cable, without any bending stress on the cable.
However, the manual actuation by the user of the control lever of the device presents, in the case of heavy loads to be pulled over relatively long distances, drawbacks due on the one hand to its slowness and on the other hand. fatigue for the user.
It has therefore been thought to actuate such devices by means of a motor, thermal or of any other nature, but such actuation has proved to be very difficult to achieve due to the relative slowness necessary for the movement, the importance of the load which is constant from the start to the end of the travel of the actuating lever and the impossibility of an accumulation of force by inertia, for example by means of a flywheel.
In addition, the use of a crankshaft, a traditional means of transforming the rotary movement of the engine into reciprocating movement of actuation of the lever of the device, would in this case only give a mediocre result due to the bulk caused by the movement of the crankshaft and on the other hand due to the continuous variation of the torque applied which results in unnecessary expenditure of energy over part of the stroke.
Other means could also be used for automatic actuation of the reciprocating control lever, for example hydraulic or compressed air jacks, but such means are bulky, impractical and require, in addition to the device, energy-producing groups which increase the cost price and limit the autonomy of the appliance.
The object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks.
The traction device according to the invention is with reciprocating movement for a cable, the control of which is carried out at will manually or by motor, comprising an operating lever with reciprocating movement mounted on an axis projecting outside the casing of the apparatus. . It is characterized in that a motor is fixed on the housing of the apparatus and drives in rotation a control pinion which meshes continuously with a transmission member articulated at a point at one end of a link arm whose the other end is removably coupled to the operating lever of the device, so that the movement communicated to the transmission member by its engagement with the control pinion causes reciprocating movement of the link arm and therefore of the device operating lever.
The transmission member, coupled to the operating lever of the device by means of the articulated arm, can advantageously be constituted by an endless chain circulating between the pinion driven by the motor and an idler pinion mounted idle in a bearing of the housing of the apparatus, this chain carrying on its lateral face a crank pin on which the end of a connecting rod is mounted in free rotation, the other end of which is articulated to the coupling arm to the operating lever.
To facilitate the circulating movement of the endless chain, it can be guided along circular arc paths formed by arcuate guide members fixed in an adjustable manner on the casing of the apparatus.
According to a modified embodiment, the connection between the endless chain and the operating lever can be ensured by a connecting rod in two parts, mounted so as to be able to have limited sliding relative to each other, one parts of the connecting rod being articulated to the crank pin of the endless chain and the other being coupled to the operating lever of the apparatus.
An embodiment of the apparatus according to the invention, as well as a variant, will be described by way of example and with reference to the appended schematic drawing in which:
Fig. 1 is a schematic side view of a traction device.
Fig. 2 is a partial longitudinal sectional view of a sliding rod of the variant of the device, and
fig. 3 is, on a larger scale, a partial vertical section along the line III-III of FIG. 2.
In fig. 1, a cable traction device is enclosed in a housing 1 and an operating lever 2, designed to receive a lever with telescopic extensions (not shown), ensures by an oscillating movement according to arrows A and B the passage of a cable 3 through the device. A complementary lever 5 is mounted by fitting on the lever 2 by a part 6 in the form of a collar and is fixed in this position by means of a locking screw 7.
The lever 5 comprises a part 8 in the form of a clevis having a transverse axis 10 on which is articulated one end of an arm 9, in square tube for example, the opposite end of which is articulated by an axis 23 to a connecting rod 22, itself articulated with a crank pin 19 mounted laterally on an endless chain 18 ensuring the assembly of this chain by pins 20, 21.
The endless chain 18 is designed to unwind in continuous motion around two end sprockets 16, 17, the sprocket 17 being mounted in free rotation in a bearing located at the lower part of the casing 1 while the sprocket 16, of which the axis is mounted to rotate in a bearing fixed to the upper part of the housing 1, is integral with the hub of a reduction gear 15 of large diameter which meshes with a motor pinion 14 whose axis is driven in rotation by a heat engine 4 attached to the upper part of the housing.
The arm 9 is designed to be able to be easily coupled to the yoke 8 or to be uncoupled therefrom, depending on whether the device is to be actuated by motor or by hand; for this purpose, a sleeve 12 can slide along the arm 9 to cooperate by notches (not shown in the drawing) with lugs 1 1 of the yoke 8, the locking of the sleeve 12 in this position being ensured by the tightening of a pressure screw 13; loosening the screw 13 allowing the disengagement of the tube 9 and the yoke 8.
The operation of the apparatus is immediately understood from the preceding description. For automatic actuation of the lever by means of the motor 4, as explained above, the arm 9 is coupled to the yoke 8 and the motor 4 is operated, the speed of which is reduced by means of the reduction gear 14. , 15 is transmitted to the motor pinion 16 ensuring the continuous circulation of the endless chain around the pinions 16, 17 and therefore through the crank pin 19 integral with this chain, the oscillating movement of the arm 9 which ensures the reciprocating actuation lever 2. In order to obtain a practically circumferential movement of the crank pin 19, and therefore of the chain 18, guide paths 24, 25 in an arc of a circle, on which the chain 18 is intended to slide, are fixed in an adjustable manner. on the housing 1 by means of screws 26, 27.
In fig. 2 and 3 show a variant of the connecting device connecting the lever 2 and the crank pin 19 carried by the chain 18. This device is constituted by a bearing 31 in the form of a yoke, integral with the base of the lever 2, with which comes cooperate one end of a flat connecting rod 32 whose end has the shape of a sleeve 33 inside which is mounted for sliding a connecting rod 34 whose one end is mounted in free rotation using a needles 35, around the crankpin 19.
The sliding of the rod 34 inside the sleeve 33 is ensured by balls 36 moving on the one hand in a longitudinal groove 37 of the upper face and the lower face of the rod 34 and on the other hand in the 'inside the corresponding groove 38 of a ramp 39 in the form of a wedge interposed between each upper and lower face of the sleeve 33 and the corresponding face of the rod 34. Springs 40, arranged at the ends of each row of balls 36, serve to keep the balls in a relative centering so that these balls can move along the grooves 37-38 without coming into abutment at the end, which would cause the rod 34 to jam.
The ramps 39, included inside the sleeve 33, are immobilized after adjustment by means of screws 41, cooperating with oblong openings (not shown) of the body of the connecting rod 32, these ramps 39 serving to easily adjust the sliding free and without play of the connecting rod 34. To allow easy coupling or uncoupling of the connecting rod 32 to the lever 2, depending on whether the device is to be actuated by the motor or by hand, a control lever 42 is articulated laterally on the yoke 31, the pivoting of this lever 42 in a direction causing, by the action of an eccentric, the cooperation of teeth 43 integral with the yoke with corresponding teeth 44 carried by the connecting rod 32 and ensuring the connection of the yoke 31 and of the connecting rod 32. The actuation of the lever 42 in the opposite direction releases the teeth 43, 44 and ensures the separation of the yoke 31 and the connecting rod 32.
The operation remains the same as that described with reference to FIG. 1, the movement of the end of the rod 34 associated with the crank pin 19 along the closed circuit described by the chain 18 ensuring the actuation of the lever 2 in a reciprocating movement. The articulated connection between the crank pin 19 and the arm 9, by means of the connecting rod 22, is replaced by the sliding assembly of the connecting rod 34. It will be noted that in the assembly of FIGS.
2 and 3, the use of guide plates 24, 25 is no longer essential because of the sliding mounting of the rod 34. It will be understood that the sliding mounting of the rod 34 could be obtained by an appropriate means other than the balls. 36, for example antifriction plates.
The motor 4 used can be of any suitable type, be associated with a torque limiter 45 arranged on the axis of the control pinion 16 while ensuring high operating safety and can advantageously operate at a range of appropriate speeds. It will also be understood that, in the description, it has been indicated that the crankpin 19 was used to connect the links of the chain 18, but that this crankpin could only be simply carried by one of the links of the chain without ensuring the assembly. of the latter.
