Dosing device for liquids
The invention relates to a metering device for liquids, in particular for anaerobically hardening plastics, with a feed pump which pushes liquid out of a chamber and an outlet valve that closes this chamber.
Such devices are primarily used for the controlled delivery of small amounts of anaerobically hardening plastics, the viscosity of which can reach a pasty state. However, the more viscous the plastic, the less suitable the known metering pumps are for proper metering and delivery of the same. Since anaerobically hardening plastics harden under the catalytic influence of metals as well as in narrow gaps, all parts of pumps or dosing devices for these plastics that come into contact with them must be made of certain parts that neither change nor be attacked by the plastics Materials such as B. Polytetrafluor ethylene exist. Furthermore, precautions must be taken to avoid narrow gaps in the dammed plastic path.
For this reason, the known piston pumps are unsuitable, since the anaerobically hardening plastic hardens in the narrow gap between the piston and cylinder after a while. Valveless peristaltic pumps are also unsuitable, as in these the anaerobically hardening plastic diffuses through the hose material. Diaphragm pumps have also proven to be unusable for viscous, anaerobically hardening plastics. A major problem with such metering devices is also the valve design, since narrow gaps must be avoided in the valves, as occur, for example, in poppet valves or other known valves when the valve is closed.
In particular, the invention creates a dosing device of the type outlined at the beginning, in which the problem of the proper valve design is solved in that a curved, elastic plate is provided as the outlet valve, the convex side of which faces the interior of the chamber and the same side is elastically pretensioned rests against a valve seat edge.
This design offers the advantage that there is always only line contact between the two parts closing the flow opening of the valve (valve seat and valve disk), so that a gap cannot arise. Another advantage of this Ventilaus education is that the valve plate, when it tries to move into its relaxed position, always tries to reduce the amount of its curvature and to rest against the edge of the valve seat. This prevents the risk that, as is often possible with curved parts, the curved part can assume two different, stable positions of equilibrium.
A preferred embodiment of a metering device according to the invention, which is intended for anaerobically hardening liquid plastics, is described below as an illustrative embodiment.
The drawing shows the dispenser partially in section.
The device consists of the actual metering part 1, the electromagnet 2 and the quantity control device 3. The electromagnet 2 is a commercially available direct current electromagnet which, when excited, moves its armature towards the metering part 1. Such an electromagnet can apply large forces with a relatively small design, and its stroke can also be precisely regulated.
The actual metering part 1 consists of a polytetrafluoroethylene block 4 of cylindrical shape, through which a bore 5 extends radially and is provided with internal threads. A somewhat larger recess 6 extends from the left into the block 4, into which the piston 7 protrudes with considerable play and is formed in one piece with the harmonica bellows 8.
The harmonica bellows must be so stiff that it is not significantly compressed by the pressures exerted to eject plastic from the dispenser. Furthermore, the folds of the bellows must have such a large opening angle that they do not act as a hardening of the plastic promoting gaps. The piston 7 is screwed sealingly onto a plunger 9, which is placed in the electromagnet 2 on a bolt 10 of the armature. At its end facing away from the piston 7, the harmonica bellows 8 has a reinforced edge with which it is pressed into a precise bore 11 of the part 4. A snap ring 12, preferably a Seeger ring, holds the spring holder 13 in part 4 between itself and a corresponding inner flange of the edge of the harmonica bellows 8 applied to the piston 7.
The spring holder 13 has the shape of a cylinder liner, which in the drawing has an outer flange on the left and an inner flange on the right.
The compression spring 14 is supported against the inner flange, which presses with its other end against the collar 15 of the plunger 9 and tries to move it to the left in the drawing.
A threaded disk 16 is screwed into the threaded hole 5 at the top and bottom to a sufficient depth, which in the drawing forms the inlet valve at the top and the outlet valve at the bottom. For this purpose, each threaded washer 16 has several axial channels 17. These axial channels 17 each open into a cylindrical recess 18, the lower edge of which forms the valve seat edge. The valve disks 19 are formed by elastic disks which are made of a suitable elastomer, preferably Vulkollan or silicone rubber, and which are also fastened in the threaded disks 16 by means of screws 20 made of Teflon. The washers 19 are clamped between nuts 21 and the heads of the screws 20.
The screws are screwed into central threaded bores of the threaded washers 16 and hold the washers in the pre-tensioned position shown in the drawing, in which the washers are bent when they rest against the valve seat edges. The bending of the disks 19 achieved in this way prevents a gap between them and the valve seat in which the plastic could harden.
Outside the threaded washers 16, connection nipples 23 are screwed into the threaded bores 5. The upper connection nipple is used for connection to a storage vessel, while the lower connection nipple 23 is used for connection to the application device.
At the left end in the drawing, an adjusting screw 24 is provided in the housing of the electromagnet 2, which forms the rear stop for the armature of the electromagnet. This adjusting screw 24 cooperates with a stump 25 at the rear end of the electromagnet armature. The stump 25 carries a finger 26 which, when the armature and thus also the piston reaches the end position of advance, actuates a microswitch 27, which interrupts the power supply to the electromagnet. This ensures that the amount pushed out by the dispenser is always constant regardless of the viscosity of the plastic, since it is not the time or a force that determines the completion of the extension stroke of the piston, but the reaching of a certain position and thus also the displacement of a certain volume.
A scale is provided on the surface 28 which, together with a marking on the head of the screw 24, allows the adjusting screw 24 to be set precisely and reproducibly.
In the power supply to the electromagnet is another, z. B. a manually or automatically operated switch.
The mode of operation of the device according to the invention is described below.
In the rub.elage when the electromagnet is not energized, the dispensing device, which is also enclosed in an additional housing from which only the actual dispensing part 1 protrudes, is in the state shown in the drawing. If now the not shown, z. B. operated manually operated switch, the electromagnet is energized, and the armature of the same is thereby moved in the drawing to the right. The armature now presses the ram 9 and thus also the piston 7 to the right while stretching the harmonica bellows 8, whereby. the liquid plastic in space 6 and in the area of the two threaded holes between the valves is reduced by a certain amount. This causes a corresponding amount of plastic to escape through the outlet valve (in the drawing below).
Regardless of the toughness of the plastic, which can be quite large, the same amount is always pushed out, since the extension stroke of the piston is only ended when the piston, and with it the armature of the electromagnet, has reached a predetermined position in which the finger 26 the microswitch 27 Iactivated, whereby the electromagnet is de-energized. After getting rid of the current of the electromagnet, the spring 14 pushes the piston and with it the armature of the magnet so long ge back until the stump 25 strikes the adjusting screw 24 on the back of the armature. Now the starting position has been reached again. During the retraction of the piston and armature, the dosing device sucked in a corresponding amount of plastic through the upper valve. The device is now ready for the next work step.
It should also be noted that care must be taken that the air inside the harmonica bellows is in contact with the surrounding atmosphere for pressure equalization. This pressure equalization can be brought about, for example, in that a fine channel is cut out in the joint between the electromagnet and the part 1 and extends to the seat of the snap ring 12. This asked proved sufficient.
All parts that come into contact with the plastic to be dosed, with the exception of the disks 19, are made of polytetrail norethylene in the device.
