Pyridin, Collidin, Dialkyl, z.B.
Cholan-, Cholestan-. Spirostan- und Cardano-

Process for the production of 19-nor-steroids The present invention relates to a special process for the production of: @ 5 "@ s-3-oxo-19- -nor-steroid dienes starting from -A ', -3-oxo-19 -hydroxy steroid compounds.
The products obtained by this process represent pharmacologically highly active compounds or intermediates for the production of such compounds. Thus, the A5 ('', "- 3,20-Dioxo-17x-hydroxy-19- -nor-pregnadienes and their esters are progestative and anti-ovulatory effect, while the L \ 5 ('' -3-oxo-17 # - -nor-androstadienes exert an anabolic and androgenic effect and derivatives of the latter compounds, which additionally contain an alkyl group in the 17a-position,
in particular an ethynyl group, also have a pro aesthetic effect.
The method for the preparation of the - \ 5 "'e-3-oxo-19- nor-steroid dienes according to the present application is characterized by the fact that _ \', -3-oxo-steroid-19-acids under decarboxylated under neutral to weakly basic conditions.
For the decarboxylation according to the method, the starting materials are medium in a suitable neutral solvent, if desired, heated with the addition of bases. The neutral solvents used are e.g. aliphatic, araliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, such as Heptane, octane, dimethylcyclohexane, decaline, xylene,
Cumene, p-cymene and especially toluene. However, the reaction according to the process can also be carried out in other solvents, e.g. in higher boiling ethers, e.g. in dioxane, methyl ethers of ethylene glycol or polyethylene glycol, in substituted benzenes such as chlorobenzene, nitrobenzene, anisole, in dialkylamides such as dimethylformamide or dimethylacetamide,
be performed. The carbon dioxide is usually split off at temperatures between 90 and 150 C.
If the decarboxylation is carried out in a weakly basic medium, then in particular tertiary organic bases, such as e.g. Pyridine, collidine, dialkyl, e.g. Dimethylaniline, etc., add to the above solvents. However, it is advantageous to use the bases themselves as solvents or suspending agents. In this case, carbonic acid is split off at approx. 50 to 100 ° C.
Finally, according to the process, the starting materials can also be converted into the .15 "" @ e-3-oxo-19-nor-steroids by heating without the aid of a solvent or suspending agent.
The _ \ 5 "," -3-oxo-191-norsteroid dienes obtained according to the process can be isomerized in a manner known per se to the corresponding 1 ', "' -3-oxo-19-norsteroid dienes.
Acidic agents are particularly suitable for isomerization, e.g. Mineral acids, such as hydrohalic acids, sulfuric acid or perchloric acid, or organic acids such as formic acid or p-toluoisulphonic acid. The A '@ 5-3-oxo-19-steroid dienes are also pharmacologically active compounds, so in particular the - \', 6-3,20-dioxo-17x-hydroxy-19-nor-pregnadienes and their esters, e.g. 17a-acetate or 17a-capronate,
which are characterized by a high progestational effect and the A'-s-3-oxo-17 @ -hydroxy-19-nor-androstane compounds and their derivatives alkylated in the 17x position, which show anabolic-androgenic effect.
The starting materials required for carrying out the claimed process can be obtained from corresponding 19- hydroxy compounds, that is to say from the - \ ', 5-3-oxo-19-hydroxy steroids by oxidation in the 19-position.
As an oxidizing agent, in particular, Ver compounds of VI-valent chromium, such as chromium-VI oxide, which are in a solvent inert to the oxidizing agent, eg. B. acetone, and advantageously in the presence of strong acids. such as sulfuric acid, are used.
The oxidation of the 19-hydroxy compound to the 19-acid can also be carried out in stages. Oxidation with chromium (VI) oxide in pyridine as a solvent provides the new - \ ", '- 3,19-dioxo-steroid dienes. These also become steroid in: acetone with chromium (VI) -oxide-sulfuric acid -19 acids oxidized.
Suitable starting materials for the present process are - \ '- "- 3-oxo-steroid-19-seeds of the Androstan-, Pregnan-, Cholan-, Cholestan-, Spirostan- and Cardano-
