The invention relates to a valve head having an indicator depending on whether the valve is open or closed.
The main aim of the invention is to make it possible to recognize the open or closed position of the valve, which is important in terms of safety when it is a question, in particular, of a fuel gas valve.
The valve head according to the invention is characterized by a handwheel which can slide on the control rod of the valve parallel to its axis, by a stud of said handwheel engaging in a groove in the head body of the valve, and able to move the steering wheel along the axis of the control rod, by an indicator light integral with the operating rod and a corresponding window in the steering wheel, and by a housing of the steering wheel receiving a spring pushing the steering wheel towards the top.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, one embodiment of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a section through the axis of the head of the valve, in the open position ; FIG. 2 is a section similar to that of FIG. 1, but in the closed position, FIG. 3 is a cross section of the head of the robi net by plane III-III (fig. 1).
The handwheel 1 is pierced by a prismatic opening 2, with hexagon for example. It envelops a slide 3, with a prismatic exterior shape, placed with a play in the opening 2.
The slide 3 is integral with the operating rod 4 of the valve, for example by crimping on engravings of the region 5. On the slide 3 is fixed a sight glass 6 by means of the screw 7. The assembly 3, 4, 6, 7 is therefore made integral, the operating rod 4 being used, depending on the taps, by simple rotation or, if it is threaded and screwed into the body 8 of the tap, by rotation and therefore also by displacement according to its axis, with a view to opening or closing the valve of the valve, this valve remaining outside the invention and therefore not being shown.
The steering wheel has at its upper part a housing 14 where the indicator 6 can be hidden, in one of the open or closed positions of the steering wheel.
The handwheel 1 of the valve is internally hollow at 9 and leaves a space between it and the top of the body 8 of the valve. In this space 9 is arranged a spring 10 which is compressed between 1 and 8.
The hand wheel 1 internally carries a stud 11 which is housed in a groove in the external part of the body 8 and of which a part 12 is toric the other 13 being arranged parallel to the general axis of the valve head.
When we start from the position of the organs shown in fig. 1, the steering wheel 1 is held by the stud 11 in the low position, the indicator 6 protrudes from the steering wheel 1 and is very visible. It can be coated with a characteristic color.
If the handwheel is turned a quarter of a turn (in the case of fuel gas valves), the components come into the position of fig. 2; the steering wheel 1 and its stud 11 are continuously pushed upwards by the spring 10, the stud enters the groove 13 and the steering wheel hides the side surface of the indicator 6, which therefore has an appearance different from that of FIG. 1.
The invention could be implemented in aspects other than those shown.
In particular: the steering wheel maneuver amplitude could be different from a quarter turn. In the event that the handwheel makes several turns for the operation of the valve, the groove 12-13 of the head body could be helical and the indicator light 6 would thus appear or disappear gradually during the operation.
Instead of placing the indicator 6 at the top of the control rod 4, it can be placed on the rod and made to appear in a suitable window of the steering wheel 1.
The indicator light can be visible, either in the open position or in the closed position of the valve.
