Continuous mixers for the preparation of foam mixtures The present invention relates to the field of foundry production and more particularly to mixers for the preparation of foam mixtures, e.g. liquid, self-hardening mixtures that are used for the manufacture of foundries and molds.
A system for the preparation of liquid foam-like mixtures with the periodic cycle is known, which has a mixer with the horizontal shaft with paddles attached to it. There is an outlet opening in the bottom of the mixer for draining the finished mixture.
However, the mixer mentioned has a limited area of application in the production of large casting cores and molds, since there is a pause between two mixtures during preparation, which in turn leads to leaks in individual layers of the products. In addition, the prepared liquid mixtures have insufficient mobility as a result of the low intensity of the mixing in the mixer, especially when using fillers with an increased content of clay components.
Attempts have been made to use the customarily known continuous screw and paddle mixers for the preparation of foam mixtures. However, no liquid foam mixtures were obtained with the aid of these mixers. The continuous mixers have an outlet opening that is attached to the bottom of the housing. Because of its increased flowability and the transporting effect of the shaft blades, the molding compound is therefore discharged from the mixer so quickly that the time for the properties of this compound to stabilize is insufficient.
The mixture should be foamed in the mixer while maintaining its flowability, which is necessary for filling the core box and molds.
In addition, the performance of the mixer fluctuates because its entire volume is not filled and a number of blades work in idle mode. The present invention aims to eliminate the disadvantages mentioned.
This invention is based on the object of developing a continuous mixer for the preparation of foam mixtures, which has a higher performance and ensures mixtures of better quality.
This problem was solved by developing a continuous mixer for the preparation of foam mixtures, e.g. of liquid self-hardening mixtures for the production of casting cores and molds, which has at least one shaft provided with blades and an outlet opening on the lower part of the mixer and is characterized according to the invention in that, in addition to said outlet opening on the wall, a further outlet opening whose for the most part above the shaft axis, is attached.
It appears expedient if the additional outlet opening of the mixer is equipped with a slide that covers its lower part.
To explain the invention, an embodiment of the continuous mixer for the preparation of foam mixtures is given below with reference to the accompanying drawings, where it shows Figure 1, the system with the continuous mixer (Ge total view); FIG. 2 the same mixer, cross section II-II FIG. 1.
The mixer (Fig. 1) is in the form of an elongated trough-like housing with two built-in shovel shafts 2 (Fig. 2), which are connected to the electric motor 3 through the transmission 4 and synchronized by means of two gears 5, executed.
The blades 6 are attached to the shafts 2 and fastened with screws 7. For better mixing and to convert the mixture into the foam state, each blade is inclined at an angle of 15 to 20 to the shaft axis. The blades are wound on the shafts in such a way that the distance between the blade axes is less than the height of the cylindri's surface that is formed by the blade face when it rotates. This prevents crusts from forming on the walls of the mixer housing.
To improve the foam formation, some of the blades in the outlet area of the mixer are made with perforations.
The housing of the mixer is covered with a cover 8, on which a hatch 9 is installed for loading the mixer with dry materials from the bunkers 10 with metering devices 11. The lower opening 12 at the bottom of the mixer is provided for the final discharge of the last portion of the prepared mixture and for cleaning the blades and the mixer housing.
For the feed. For the liquid component set, there is a container 13 which is connected to the mixer by means of a pipe 14; a consumption meter 15, a tap 16 and valve 17 are set up and installed on this pipe.
In order to prevent the atomization of dry materials entering the mixer, a sand trap 18 is installed on the loading hatch 9, which consists of two concentric rings attached to the lid of the mixer, between which sand is shaken.
On the side wall of the outlet area of the mixer housing there is an additional opening 19 for the outlet of the finished foam mixture. The largest part of this opening lies above the shaft axis of the mixer in order to ensure full use of the mixer volume and the improvement of the quality of the mixtures to be prepared.
The lower part of the above-mentioned opening is covered with the aid of a slide 20 in order to regulate the jet width of the finished mixture emerging from the opening and the output of the mixer.
The mixer works as follows.
The dry materials (quartz sand and slag) weighed in portions pass through the loading hatch 9 into the mixer and are mixed there thoroughly. At a distance from the place where the dry materials are fed, a set of liquid components is added to the mixer, which is composed of three components (binder, foaming agent and water) and mixed with the above-mentioned materials.
This is done by intensive rotation of the blade shafts (the number of revolutions of the mixer shafts should be around 120 to 200 rpm around the peripheral speed of the blades - 1.44 - 2.38 m / sec) and with the help of the blades with perforations set up at an appropriate angle extensive air suction, which leads to the formation of liquid foam mixtures that are suitable for pouring into the core box and for the mold models. The liquid foam mixture collects in the mixer until its level reaches the outlet opening 19, which lies above the shaft axis on the side wall. The lower outlet opening remains closed while the mixer is working.
The presence of the additional opening 19 ensures certain advantages in the preparation of liquid foam mixtures. Even the first portion of the mixture that comes out of the mixer is suitable for use. The blades are immersed in the mixture at the entire wavelength. These blades work with the same efficiency on every cross section of the mixer.
The mixture is more completely enriched with air, the foam formation improves, the flowability increases and, due to a more complete utilization of the volume of the mixer, its output also increases.
After adjusting the preparation of the mixture, its remainder is drained from the lower outlet opening and the mixer is flushed.
According to another embodiment variant, the continuous mixer can have one or several bucket shafts. In addition, the angle of inclination of the blades to the shaft axis is selected experimentally in the areas listed in the description for each specific case, especially when transitioning to other starting materials.
The above-mentioned additional outlet opening 19 can be attached to the end wall of the mixer.
