<tb> Triazinyl <SEP> Pyrrolyidyl The hydrates and alcohols mentioned can be produced by bringing the halogenated ketone and water or the corresponding alcohol into contact with one another.
This reaction is conveniently carried out in the presence of an organic solvent. Lower ketones, e.g. B. acetone or methyl ethyl ketone, as well as saturated aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons and their halogen derivatives, z. B. methylene dichloride, hydrocarbon tetrachloride, dichloroethylene and m-dichlorobenzene.
The reaction also takes place in other solvents, and one of the starting materials can be used as a solvent. The reaction is usually exothermic,
especially with low molecular weight alcohols. The reaction temperature can be regulated with a liquid circulating in a pipe coil. In general, it is advantageous to work at temperatures of 10-40 ° C.
The formulas given below for the composition of the alcoholals are based on experience that these are addition compounds since no by-products are formed during the reaction. The infrared spectrum of the adducts shows that they are carbonyl adducts of the hexahalogenacetone, so most likely belong to the hemi-ketals.
The conversion, which leads to the production of the alcoholates mentioned of hexahalogen acetone, proceeds smoothly with a large number of alcohols. But it is advisable to use alcohols of an aliphatic nature, d. H. the OH function:
so as not generally to be bound to a carbon atom that is a member of an aromatic ring. It was also found that OH functions which are surrounded by a large number of electronegative substituents react with the hexahalogenoacetone more slowly and can even be inactive. So is z. B. 2,2,2-trichloroethanol is active in this regard. Other inactive alcohols are e.g. B. the fully halogenated ethanols, z. B. fluorinated ethanols.
As far as could be determined, the carbon atom of the aliphatic carbinol should not contain more than two halogen atoms; still carry a trihalomethyl radical. Since the reaction is an addition of the alcoholic component to the carbonyl function of the acetone, it is obvious that the governing substances must not suffer excessive steric hindrance.
Accordingly, the substituents bound directly to the carbinol carbon atom should not be too extensive. It succeeds z. B. not to produce adducts of tri-tert-butyl-carbinol with sym.-dichlorotetrafluoroacetone.
The dihalo tetrafluoroacetones mentioned and their hydrates and alcoholates are systematic toxins, which greatly increases their usefulness and makes them very valuable. As is known, the systemic bio-wastes are ahead. Organism with which they come into contact, recorded and stored in the tissues of the organism, whereby they retain their toxicological properties.
Accordingly, the systematic toxins are not exposed to the weather, because they penetrate from the surface of the plants into the interior of this plant tissue, and the plants are internally protected against attack by microorganisms, e.g. B. fungi and bacteria protect.
It has already been proposed to use certain halogenated acetones against fungi and similar pests, and for this purpose z. B. monochloroacetone and sym.-dichloroacetone. Chlorinated acetones, however, are not systemically effective; they exert their effect locally on the microorganisms directly. Not even fully halogenated acetones or their alcoholates, as a class, have general fungicidal effects. There were z.
B. numerous alcohol adducts of 1,1,3-trichloro-1,3,3-trifluoro "acetone with various alcohols produced and these surprisingly showed no systemic effect as do the substances used according to the invention.
Following the same procedure as indicated in the main patent, the following compounds can be made.
EMI0003.0000
EMI0004.0000
When carrying out experiments relating to systemic fungicidal effects, 60 ml of the active ingredient are diluted to 50 parts per million and the solution is poured into small test tubes.
A young plant of the piebald bean is placed in each tube, the seedling being held in place with a cotton ball, which will also slow down the evaporation of the liquid. After 48 hours, two plants are infected with bean rust and two plants with meltau. You then compare treated and untreated plants and. evaluates the result.
Tests on the fungicidal effect on the leaves are carried out to test the protective effect of the substances. The leaves are sprayed with the active ingredient in a known concentration.
After drying, the plants are inoculated with a suspension of spores of the fungus to be tested. The plants are kept under conditions which are favorable for the infection and the development of the plant diseases. After a certain time, the plants are examined and the protective effect is determined.
where the extent of the disease is expressed as a percentage of the condition of unprotected plants.
The soil test is carried out by. the active ingredient is mixed with the earth in an aqueous liquid or injected into it. This is generally followed by mixing and injection tests, except in the case of a water bath or spraying.
Testing the fungicidal effect on the leaves shows the protective effect both as a direct and as a systemic effect. The useful type of application can be determined through experiments. Man. sprinkles plants of the piebald bean with the active ingredient in a dilution of 1000, 500 and 100 parts per million.
The active ingredient is dissolved in water, where one of the above-mentioned surface active agents or wetting agents is expediently used as a solubilizer. After the sprayed plants have dried, they are inoculated with spores of bean rest or Mel tau; the rust infection requires overnight treatment in the spray chamber.
The test results mean: 100 complete absence of pustules or meltau, **** 75-100% effect, *** 50-75% effect, ** 25-50% effect and 0 no visible effect .
